We did end up buying a boat but can not even begin to explain how disappointing our experience was. Experience began nice enough but as soon as the deal was made everything went down hill fast. Sid was non responsive, flat out deceiving when I did get a response, and didnt even have the respect to show up when I finally picked up the boat, also damn lucky that the POS sold as a trailer made it home. If you need to buy or sell a boat I recommend you look elsewhere.
Great experience! Thank you, Sid! We love our Yacht!
If you love sailing great place to go. Friendly, helpful and a wealth of knowledge.
Awesome place
They were nice we came from TN to but our first sailboat got a Carlina 27 for a great deal. They answer any questions we have and try to work with you best they can
Sold a boat through them and they shorted my check $200. Was told they would cut another and never did. Called and email Sid several times before giving up.
I put my sailboat up for sale with Snug Harbor, and it was a very poor experience. I had to press them constantly for all the details, to put up the listing, set pricing, constantly followup about service, cleaning, etc., and when one day, a buyer came along, the agent called me and told me to just take the deal (much lower than we had it priced). I didnt need to fire sell the boat, but thats what it felt like. I believe it was some friends and frequent buyers from Snug Harbor who bought it. Before I even said yes, the new owners had taken it out and cleaned it out (I still havent gotten my stuff off the boat, like my portable AC unit, pillows, blankets, sheets, jackets, books, and sentimental items). They just sent a check with no amounts or explanation, and I have called repeatedly to try and understand the process and get any kind of paperwork and any of my stuff. There was no explanation of when it sold, for how much, what the end commission was (had to go back and look at contract, but it doesnt match), taxes, cleaning, fees, or anything was. I have yet to get an answer or any of my stuff. I still dont know if I should cancel the slip, insurance, or the power bill for the boat slip. It feels like I am missing about 90% of the conversation. A very poor selling experience. Maybe its better on the buy side.
If your looking to invest in/sell a high quality sailboat, Snug Harbor is a great business in Buford to begin your search. They have an excellent team on staff and each one has specific technical knowledge for any questions you have. Ann is a very professional and fair woman, she helped us tremendously in finding a specific part we needed for our boat, and also answering a lot of our questions as well. Shes got a lot of amazing boats in the yard for sale as well, so check them out.
This is a great business. They have done lots of work on different boats for me over the last 15 years and their work is excellent!!!They have sold a house boat for me and currently have my 22 Catalina sail boat for sale. They sold the houseboat in six weeks and got a good price for me. Ann the owner knows her stuff!!! None better!!
I am very pleased with my experience with Ann Koch, Sid Hall, and Mike Wainscott in understanding my needs in repairing and/or selling my Capri 22 with trailer. Ann and Sid listened carefully to my concerns and my wife and I decided to sell. They gave me a fair price & picked up the boat and trailer today. All of the sales documents were completed for me to sign and a had a check in my hand. This was a turn key operation as Sid motored the sailboat across Lake Lanier and Mike drove the trailer away. This worked best for me and eliminated a lot of headaches !!I plan to work with Ann and Sid to see if they can find and deliver a smaller boat - perhaps a cat boat or daysailer so the whole family can spend more time on the water.
Awesome shows and the atmosphere is great. Would not trade it for anything in the world. A must go to for anyone visiting Charlotte! Also, the drink prices arent bad at all, pretty dang affordable
We listed our sailboat with Ann at Snug Harbor in hopes that she cold help us sell it. Even though it had problems she has done an Excellent job of managing the boat and all of the listings on all of the locations on the internet. Her staff is very good and very competent in all ascpects of selling and keeping the boat maintained. My wife and I could not be more pleased with Ann. To give a comparison the boat broker we purchased this boat from years a go was just terrible. Now he was not the worst I have heard about but he was the worst I ever worked with for a purchase. But Ann has been professional, wise, careful, considerate of our needs and very helpful to all who shopped our boat. I believe in todays market (March 2019) a person must be flexible to be able to take care of all the details. Ann gets the absolute best marks from us. We have never had a problem with the people who have worked here a long time.It is interesting in that 2 of the negative reviews are from the same person a Former employee and another negative is from a former employee. I knew one of them and would trust him at all.
I walk the tracks behind their business regularly. Its one of the only places I can actually get away from people. It makes me sad to see they are throwing trash (refrigerators, tarps, wood, foam, tires, ECT) over the bank behind their business. Its not good for the environment or the eye. Hope they clean it up soon before I start making phone calls.
Honestly did not have a good experience here. Took a small 2017 tohatsu outboard here that needed work done since they were the only tohatsu certified dealer in the area. Turn around time was not bad... only took a week to get my boat back. Told the mechanic I was pretty sure the plugs just needed to be replaced and thats all I wanted done. I went to pick the boat up and had to wait for the mechanic to wait for an hour and a half because he was late to work. When I got the boat back, they gave me a bill for $190 and did lots of stuff I did not ask for. I did get them to knock the price down to $130... but all they ended up doing was the two spark plugs like I suggested. Price was rediculous. I got out on the water to test it out, and apparently they messed with the carb because the linkage was not even connected which I had to fix myself while in the water. Called them over the phone about it and they did not seem to care. Since theyve messed with the carb, the motor has only ran once and will not start back up again. Im too scared to take it back and see what they might try to charge me to fix their mistakes.
Sid was very helpful with the purchase of our boat. The were great to work with
Very knowledgeable, kind employees. Variety of boats available. Fair pricing.
If you want honest representation and a broker with integrity this is not the place to list or buy a sail boat.
Wont get too far into the details but I gave Anne at SHB&Co a very straight forward list of items to fix on an 88 hobie that was new to me and I must have asked for a quote for work on my sailboat a half a dozen times over the phone and text messages. I dropped my boat off on Sept 25th and then got a text that it was done Oct 24th -- ***4 weeks. I guarantee it would have been longer if I had not constantly called her and asked for quote - which she never gave me. I stopped by three times and she was never there. Basically, I was not happy about the amount I needed to pay for some simple lacing of a hobie tramp - over $120 to lace the tramp - maybe a hour of work at the most plus another $30 to replace a bungee cord. If I have been quoted, and agreed to it, I would have been fine with it, but despite asking several times, she never sent one. I told her that I would be fine paying about $75 since she didnt quote me and that amount seemed more than reasonable, but she refused to budge. She said her time is worth about $80/hr to lace the rope and she is already giving me a discount. Reluctantly, I paid her what she asked. If she had simply told me it was going to be $80/hr and it was going to take her 2 hours I would have come over there and taken the tramp off myself or given my 6 year old son a candy bar to do it. Unfortunate.
Awful experience. Never updated the website for our ComPac 23 we tried selling for a while, never asked any questions about the boat. They also never told us any offers that were given, I had to call them and then they auto declined the offers without first discussing it with me. Then when we decided they couldnt sell it, we sailed it. So we are lucky for their lack of selling. We are also missing our fuel tank from our boat and hoping to retrieve that soon from Sung Harbor, we had to buy an additional motor to use out boat. UPDATED:, Never sent our fuel tank, so Im driving 5 HOURS to get it. Users be warned. Used to be the best broker in town. From my experience, I disagree. If you need help selling your boat, just use craigslist or sailboatlistings.
As of todays date, October 14th, 2014. I can say that since I bought my Lindenberg 30. I would purchase another boat from this business, as well as have them re-sell my boat if I were to put it on the market again. The owner Ann Kock, is extremely helpful with any aspect of the transaction, from the beginning to end. The contractors I have had personal experience with also are extremely knowledgable, some having over 4,000 nautical miles of OFF SHORE OCEAN experience. This is to include mechanics, riggermen, body work, bottom jobs, etc!I would definitely come back with my business to Snug Harbor Boats & Company located in Buford Ga!
Stay far away. Its funny how the only good review is by there employee.
Having worked there I would highly recommend that both sellers and buyers insist on receiving a Bill Of Sale with the sale amount posted on it to avoid deception with actual offer and price agreed on!
Anne is a great person!
What can I say.. I saw boats
Good as always
Was not there
