We were hungry after visiting the zoo and found this gem close to the area.So glad we did! It was the highlight of our Buffalo arrival. We were greeted by nice and friendly hostesses, that took us to our table and then got a nice, friendly and attentive server (Michael) whom made our meal more enjoyable. He checked on us regularly and was helpful with any menu questions we had.The restaurant is super busy and gets crowded, but the food and service made the wait worthwhile.We had the Souvlaki Breakfast with Chicken and Stuffed Pita (added chicken) with fries and both were delish! The chicken was seasoned nicely and it was super moist and tasty! The pita was loaded with feta cheese and it made it so good! Coffee tasted good as well.Thank you for an a great tasting meal and great service!
I would describe the restaurant and the menu as excellent diner upscaled. The food was good stick to your ribs stuff, its dirt cheap for how beautiful the place is. And the service was excellentI got my food so fast that I was stunned. Well worth the visit
This is one of my favorite restaurants; I often arrange my work lunch meetings there. First and foremost, they have EXTRAORDINARY customer service. EVERYONE acknowledges you and is genuinely concerned about your satisfaction. Im critical of customer service and I am in awe every time Im there watching the seamless production and efficiency. They have a vast menu and anything Ive tried is exceptional. The food is fresh, fast presented well and fairly priced. Parking is never an issue. Kudos Kostas
Excellent food with large portions. The server was attentive and polite. Reasonable prices and modern! Take a seat outside on the covered patio or stay indoors. Either way you wouldnt be disappointed.
I went with a friend for breakfast and although the food was good i thought it was a bit expensive. $5 for one egg any way and $8 to add some bacon. Typically breakfast is super cheap and quick to grab but for 2 coffees and 2 breakfasts we spent $40.
Thought it would be nice to take home a dinner for myself and my beloved, I order chicken panini but got veggie panini instead came with fries, they where cold and hard...not good at all. My husband had Reuben sandwich w/fries. Both his sandwich and fries was cold and hard. The front desk lady did not have a welcoming attitude more like eat-at-your-own-risk.
If you enjoy Greek diners then you will love Kostas! We went for breakfast. Everything was as you would expect from a great Greek diners including good hit coffee and excellent friendly service. I had the corned beef hash and it was awesome even if not what one would usually choose at a Greek diner. My wife had a Belgian waffle and a fruit cup. Everything was delicious and we could not finish all of our food. Worth the trip. Enjoy!
We stopped in for a late dinner on a Wednesday night. Lots of people. We sat in the outside area. It is open air, but covered by a roof. We love the activity of Hertel. Both of our dinners were delicious and large portions. We also had desserts which were awesome. I recommend the carrot cake. All of the staff were very friendly. Well worth the trip
Kostas is a fantastic Greek restaurant on the business block on Hertel. The restaurant is quite modern with a bright and open feel. There is a good selection of fish to choose from, and you get the typical option of having it deep fried (our preference) or grilled. However, we our favorite part of the menu are the breakfast items. Their gyro + egg + feta breakfast items are delicious, especially when accompanied by the seasoned potatoes. Parking is the only problem with visiting Kostas, so during the busy times, we just order the food to-go.

We ate at Kostas for the first time tonight. We walked in at 8:20pm, not knowing they were only serving up until 9:00. Our waitperson, Becky, assured us that we could take our time and not rush, as she had work to do after closing and didnt usually leave before 10.Becky was incredible. She was so attentive, friendly, and with a nice smile she told us how she loves working at Kostas and that the dishes are all great. I had the surf and turf salad and my partner had the souvlaki dinner. Everything was fresh and appetizingly presented.Kostas is impeccably clean, and I can tell it is well run. All of the waitstaff seemed professional and pleasant. Please give Becky a raise!We look forward to coming back to try more of the offerings, some of which sounded very unique, and not run-of-the-mill diner food. Where else can one find fried smelts in sauce?
I was at Kostas on 9/07/21 arrived at 21 am on the patio to thr right of the door as you are facing the restaurant from the street. There were 2 in our party. Our waitress (I forget her name@) was SO sweet and very attentive...made our experience very pleasant. I know the waiting staff is stressed due to employee shortages, but it was not an issue today. Our meals were excellent and my hamburger was cooked to order. Keep up the good work!
The atmosphere was beautiful and the customer service was excellent. However I didnt enjoy the food. I had a mushroom omelette and I didnt enjoy it. Mushrooms couldve been cooked a lil more tender and the food could use some flavor. Salt, Pepper, something too make it memorable. The mimosa we had to send back cause it was lips on our glasses and it also was lil black things inside of it. Over all the toast was excellent. Along with the customer service I dont see myself returning just yet but I will give it a second try maybe later.
We visited from out of town and it looked like a great local place. It was very busy for Sunday brunch, but we still had our food in front of us within 15 minutes of arriving. Our server was as wonderful as the food was delicious. And so much food! We will definitely be back if we are in the area again.
You guys have really great staff that seem to work together to get the job done. The eggs and chicken (souvlaki) was cooked and seasoned perfectly, but was room temperature when I got it. I shouldβve said something, but I was tired and didnβt feel like it.The home fries recipe honestly need some heart or love. Most of the texture was boiled (which is often the first step of making them), but only only side of the potatoes were crisped; they also lacked any flavor. They also were just barely cooked.Maybe it was a bad batch, day or different veg than usual, but mine wasnβt good. Overall I liked the food and the restaurant.
Food was excellent as always! My man loves the Classic Burger and Im a new fan of the Brioche French Toast! My best friend CATHY RIVERA is a server and her husband is a cook!

I got the fish dinner to go for my daughter. She said it was very good. She chose the salad and baked potato for the sides. Ive gotten take out a couple of times and the service is friendly and the food is hot.

I use to praise kostas but lately they are hit or miss. My most recent order was wrong in many ways but to top it off I ordered a sandwich thinking it would come on toasted sandwich bread after I asked specifically. Nope was on a raw hamburger but bun that was soggy and just mushy.
Hands down the best restaurant i have been to since I moved to West Seneca. The food is so amazing, the manager and our waitress was awesome. This is a must return.

Price went up but the quality went way down. Pancakes were meh. They gave me one burnt piece of bacon and one undercooked piece. All of it tasted old af. The toast wasnβt even toasted and tasted old and looked like somebody smashed it with their finger. Needless to say I wonβt be going back

Hands down, the best open face souvlaki in Buffalo!!! It is about a 20 min ride for me to get down to hertel Ave but it is always worth it. They remodeled the place and it looks like a very nice upscale establishment as well as have phenomenal food. Canβt say anything bad about Kostas and I highly recommend trying them out, I truly do not think that youβll be disappointed!

Extraordinarily rude phone manners when we tried to place an order to pick up 3 appetizers. Would not take an order and said call back later. When asked when to call back, the person stated βI donβt know, good luck.β Canβt recommend to anyone. Clearly not in the business for customers.

I would not set foot in this place again. We came and inquired about a larger group for dining in and the person huff and begrudgingly said it would be 45 mins. We even called ahead to let them know we would have a larger group come by and on the phone they said it was okay but didnt take reservations. Ultimately we ended up not dining here due to the way we were treated and we had a vastly better dining experience at another Greek Restaurant.

Tried kostas for the first time. I ordered the chicken souvlaki breakfast and was unfortunately very disappointed. My chicken is dry and burnt as are my home fries the eggs are unseasoned and the toast is actually the best part of the meal. This will be my last time...
I was so looking forward to this Greek restaurant.. really disappointed!we were greeted by very friendly staff and our waitress was very friendly.The calamari was slightly under done but I was starving.. the red sauce however was delicious!The we ordered the souvlaki chicken dinner, me French fries and my husband herbed rice.The portions were really huge.. but the quality of the food was terrible.. the French fries had been sitting around and just reheated.. yuck!The waitress was insistent on taking them back and bringing another batch..I appreciated her efforts but it was the same exact situation.. the waitress was back with the fries in less than 2-3 mins.. certainly not enough time to fry French fries..The chicken was slightly warm.. again was sitting around and just slightly heated..The outdoor patio was lovely.. the waitress and greeting staff very nice but the food awful!I donβt know if this was an off day.. Friday..I wouldnβt recommend or ever go back while visiting. Iβm really starting to questions the reviews for everything now:(
Whenever Im in Buffalo visiting my family, I have to stop in Kostas to get my Souvlaki salad, today its steak! Delicious as always, they have the best feta cheese!

Dont do takeout til 4pm and have their phone lines off til then. Pathetic management and communication with public. Foods good, though Ive only had the Beef Soulvaki. Must use Sirloin tip or something as it is very tender. Still gets one star though because no matter how good it is, its pointless if it cant be served. Staff is never particularly friendly.
My go to whenever Im in Buffalo for a fresh salad or a tasty fish dinner. We love dining in or out on their 4 season patio. Customer service is great too! I always feel welcomed!!

Been enjoying Kostas for 45 years. Took my granddaughter there for her 15th birthday breakfast. The place looks beautiful and the food has never changed, always excellent. Treat yourself, you will not be disappointed!
The staff is well trained, the service is excellent, the food consistent and done well. Itβs not stemware and linen napkins but its not a dimly lit diner either. They just finished an incredible remodel which was multiple six figure$. Best and favorite for me is the beef souvlaki breakfast or dinner.
Although we enjoy the food, today the service was terrible and our dishes were piled high on our table. One of the owners kept walking by but never even offered to remove any of our dirty dishes from the table. He seriously needs to take some courses in hospitality. Its not like it used to be at all.

The food is really good but a tad overpriced (mainly for pasta). Getting takeout is extremely hard though, we called at 3 and weβre told that they wouldnβt do takeout until 4. So we decided to wait until then- called back and the girl was very rude. I tried ordering a turkey bacon sandwich (which is on there menu) and she told me that they did not even have that. She was very short and we ended up not even placing an order and were left extremely disappointed.

Havent been to Kostas in 25 years and i will never go there again!! Ordered a Beef Soul Breakfast asked for it Med Rare ... when I got it it was when done! One slice of onion one slice of pepper small portion left hungry!! When I told the waitress she told the cook no money taken off with tip $25 bucks! What i rip off!!! Will never go there again!!

The only thing that was upsetting is that we had to wait 45 minutes for our food after we ordered.... They got my order wrong and didnt seem to care, so rude and when I told them the girl repeated my order and still left out the potatoes but charged me for sour cream I was done with this place. The service is really not great!
My family and I had an early dinner at Kotas which is a normal diner we visit but this experience was different. I found a long blond hair in my daughters chicken finger dinner. When I told the waiter, he advised he would tell the manager and compliment the meal. They brought a new chicken finger meal for my daughter but included it on the bill; when I went to pay, I was advised since a new meal was made it would not be complimented. So was I suppose to let my daughter starve or waste more time to go somewhere else? Why cant we just be accountable and do whats right!? #DoBetter
