This place is a staple in Brownsville. With over 40 years of service IT service authentic food. Not commercialized food like you get at home. If youre looking for some upscale type restaurant this is not the place for you. If youre looking for her earthy down-home goodness this is the place youll like. Speaking Spanish is a plus here.

I enjoy coming to have brunch here on weekends with my lovely family. I specially appreciate the kids meal its perfect for my babies. And good service and always clean and very delicious.

I visited this establishment 2 weeks ago with my parents and our relatives who live in in Brownsville. I dont even know where to begin.The first impression of the establishment is the interaction with your waitress. I dont recall the waitresses name but thats besides the point. From the moment I saw her walking to our table I knew it was going to be a bad experience. She had a bad attitude when taking our order. I was not aware that the Gordita dough didnt have salt or did not have beans and cheese. You would expect your waitress to inform you of how food is prepared. When I asked her to add beans and cheese to my Gorditas, she snapped at me and told me that she was not going to add that to my order since she had already wrote it down. Then she told that I would have to add the beans and cheese myself. I was shocked and told her that the whole point of dinning out was so I didnt have to prepare my own food. If I wanted to do that I would have stayed home.Now comes the meal, the food was blend and greasy. I found a hair in my barbacoa Gordita and lost my appetite after that. I still tipped her very well despite her attitude.I will never eat there again.

Our first time here after hearing such great things, but as for myself, not coming back to this place. Very poor customer service/attention.

Their menu is offensive by stating below the drinks that theres no free refill that its not a fast food restuarant. All they have to say is no free refills. Therere plenty of local and National chain restaurants that give free refills.

I do love the food but the staff is less than professional. If you can be patient and not expect to be waited on....the food and price are worth it!!! Note ambience needs updating.

Mexican food and the atmosphere here is excellent. Everyone at our table was enjoying everything. Prices are appropriate for the quality. This place has many good reviews for a reason.

I ordered the flour tortilla taco with chorizo and egg and it was really good! The tortilla is a perfect size and it doesnt get hard fast like it does in some other coffee shops. I recommend this place!

Just how I remember as a kid growing up and nights after drinking. Yummy as always! You can eat like Kings and Queens there for a good price.

The place looks like a hole in the wall but looks are deceiving. The food is delicious and the staff is friendly and welcoming. In from Houston and highly recommend this place.

Ive been visiting this restaurant for the past 15 years and must I say that Im very disappointed. I ordered a simple cheese burger with fries and it took them 20 min later after all my family had received their food. Then as I thought it couldnt get worse my fries were extremely raw. I asked them to get one so they can see what they are serving and they refused to try one and then on top of that not even an apology. This place has gone to the hole. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.

Ive gotten wayyyyy slower than I remember as a child but I usually only see 3 waitstaff totally. I will saw this though, I love the food 😍♥️♥️ its home but give it some time (literally) .

Gordita de picadillo, gordita had too much butter and picadillo in gordita had too much grease as well. Tea was not that good. Carne guisada taco was great but a little pricey.

Firstly, this diner is open 24/7, thats always a win in my book. Secondly, this is legit Mexican food, so if you are visiting town and want an authentic plate, this is the place to come. Ive been coming to this restaurant all my life and I cant recall a time where Ive been disappointed. I enjoy the menudo, their Mexican plate, or just a tortilla with beans, depending on my appetite.

The enchiladas were freaking tasty. It aint a Michelin rl restaurant, but its great home cooking.

Had to stop here before heading back to Austin. Carne guisada is the best. Today they only have 1 cook wait time is 30-35 min; totally worth it!
