After the purchase of my truck I experienced some mechanical issues but they were 100% covered by the 1 month warranty as well as a rental vehicle while my vehicle was being repaired. I will start buy saying in both cars I was happy with the sales process until after possession was taken. Car #1 turned out to be infested with multiple generations of cockroaches. The dealer offered to and even started to treat the car. But after a few days of not being able to use the car after dark and having to strip down in the garage (couldn’t put an infested car in the garage) so we didn’t bring bugs in we decided to return the car under their 5 day satisfaction guarantee. They couldn’t offer any compensation, create a service ticket for the issue or even provide a loaner until the cockroaches were gone. Because the process of buying the car was so smooth I figured all of this was strictly because of the uniqueness of the issue and bought a different car off the lot. Because of there 30 day warranty what can go wrong? A couple things were noticed on the test drive which we brought to there attention. We learned that the local lots do not do any work or inspection on the vehicles. They come off a truck from Tampa and directly onto the lot. We asked the salesman about the broken armrest and the areas in the rear view camera screen that were not viewable. We were told they would fix the arm rest because it was functional damage not cosmetic and at first glance the rear view camera screen appeared to just be cosmetic. After driving the vehicle we realized it was not cosmetic but it was a functional issue. You can’t see what’s behind you when backing up with about 1/3 of the screen not viewable. This makes the Manufacturer installed safety feature unusable. Not to mention you can’t see certain buttons in the screen to navigate through options without holding your hands up trying to block all sunlight and squinting. Creates a totally distracted driver. So when we talked to our local lots (Cortez Rd, Bradenton) GM he said to call SilverRock and have it added to the ticket. They do not do any work after selling the car. It is all done through the 3rd party warranty company that DriveTime has partnered with. SiverRock has a BBB score of less than 2 out of 5. Now they had me bring it to a certified VW Service Center to be looked at. They agreed that the above mentioned items need to be fixed. Now SilverRock is saying they do not believe them and want a 3rd party to inspect it. I can guarantee you if the VW dealership said it was fine they wouldn’t have asked for a 3rd party to inspect. A certified VW service center said yes this is a safety issue and needs to be fixed. DriveTime is responsible for this because they are the ones who hire SilverRock to full fill the 30 day warranty. In the meantime we are stuck w/o our car and DriveTime needs to tell SilverRock to stop there time wasting tactics and just approve/pay the claim. 3rd party inspector. As if a reputable Certified Volkswagen Dealership would risk it’s name committing a fraud.

I’m not going to lie I typically dislike car salesman and anything having to do with buying a car, but I got a tip from a friend who had used drive time, so I said hey I’ll try it I need a vehicle for my company anyway. Fast forward I spoke with John on the phone first and he was very accommodating, then when I came in to get a more substantial idea of what I wanted to do he had cars and suvs ready for me to check out according to my needs and my budget, I left that day with a Jeep in mind and a small amount on it, and to purchase it with in a few weeks, but after discussing with the wife we decided to change the vehicle to a 2017 Chevy equinox ls, we got it reserved and purchased it a couple days later, John was great!! when you go there ask for him, I’m telling you I don’t like car dealers but drive time was a pleasant experience, once we have this car for a year we are going to get another vehicle for my wife at drive time as well.
