Hands down the best auto shop in the Bozeman area. The incredible staff went above and beyond to make sure my truck is ready for my move to Alaska. Friendly, supportive, intelligent, and hardworking. Always reliable. I only hope I can find such an incredible team in my new home.

Farr Automotive has a great reputation for a reason: they go above and beyond. I came to them with a problem, and was pretty upset. Despite me acting like a total jackass, they fixed my problem- that wasn’t their fault- remained professional, and didn’t even charge me. They have my loyalty forever.

Ive been using Farr Automotive for years now. Both personally and professionally. Ive always found them to ethical, honest and diligent. Nick and Nolan are beyond helpful and always do whatever is needed to make sure you are happy when you walk away. Even specialized diagnostics that the dealership hasnt been able to solve, Farr gets right. Best shop in town.

Had a vehicle towed by them. Went to go check on it before we left bozeman. An saw they just unloaded our car right into another one just because they were closing at noon?. Not sure if our vehicle has damage or not on the front panel were it was on back end of the car they just toss ours into. It kinda looked like when someone has a pickup truck and has some items in the bed of there truck and go really fast backwards then slam on the breaks so the items will fly out of the back. Of the truck bed was told they was supposed to take good care of our vehicle..not to mention we lived in the area for over 10 years not like we are passing by or tourist just visiting.

After having multiple shops give me the run around about my car and talk down to me not knowing anything about cars. Took my car here and I loved it. They talked to me about my car, what happened and put in into terms I understood, they understood the issues of my car and still did the best they could. Even so my car check engine light hasnt turned on since they looked at it and usually it turns on right away and I was impressed. They had great customer care, didnt mind calling me alot about my car and took time to tell me about it and even put air in my tires when I asked and they definitely couldve said no. I will continue to go to them due to the service they gave me the other day.

Great work done at a reasonable price. Nick was awesome to work with! He was transparent and talked with me about my options. I got an oil change, tire rotation and my rear brake pads and rotors replaced. They finished it in a day and made sure to explain the breakdown in price of everything. I will definitely be coming back here anytime I need my car worked on. 10/10 would recommend to a friend!

***Update…sadly. My family has been going to this location since I was a child, this has always been my number one shop in town. Unfortunately, after multiple run-ins with the woman at the front desk, I will never be back. I have seen multiple complaints about her by my friends, clients and on multiple social media platforms, and they don’t seem to do anything about it. This is a great shop, but it’s being ruined by a very unfriendly, rude, receptionist. I have addressed this with the owners in the past, they’ve been ignoring her for years and allowing her to continue to be nasty to their clients***Nolan and Nick were great to work with. Nolan was able to fix our truck on super short notice, it took hardly any time and we were happy with the customer service. Thennn we had to bring it back in to fix the door. They had us in and out in two hours. THANK YOU!!!!

I needed my starter replaced again, after I replaced it with them 4+ years ago. Both times I have received excellent service. They were fast, honest, and willing to work with me to get the War Pony (my truck) up and running again. Also the part was under warranty so that was nice.Thanks Nick and crew!

This is the only auto mechanic in Bozeman I trust to take my vehicles. Not only did they go above and beyond to fix every mechanical abnormality with my truck, but they didnt charge me an arm and a leg either. It was my best experience ever going to the mechanic. The mechanic seemed great--willing to talk over the repairs at length, calling my Dad to fill him in too, very knowledgeable and understanding. He offered me a ride so I didnt have to arrange one. Thanks to his great care, I was prepared to put about $2500 of work into the car, but needed an initial steam cleaning to kick things off.However, due to rudeness of the front desk, Ive decided to go elsewhere.Id scheduled my engine cleaning for a rainy day intentionally when I knew I wouldnt need my car for hiking. I am also self-employed, and made sure not to schedule any meetings that day since I need my car to get to them. This is hard on my business. Sure enough, dumping rain the day I got up early (for me, I work nights often) to bring the rig in. And then they inform me they cant do it on a rainy day. When I asked why they didnt call me or warn me that the repair couldnt be done on a rainy day, they just said they didnt predict the weather and made me feel like an idiot for not knowing that steam cleanings arent done in the shop.Im taking my car in for their expertise; Im a customer with no automotive skills and didnt realize that was a weather-dependent procedure. Even if they failed to convey that, they didnt need to take a snide tone when I didnt know. I missed out on sleep and time and felt disrespected.I dont handle disrespect well, especially not when Im prepared to spend my monthly budget with someone. The mechanic gets 4 stars, the front desk gets 1, so well call it 3 overall.

These guys are the best - honest, fair, direct. Ive since moved away from the Bozeman area and dealt with a variety of mechanics in both Virginia and California who often make me want to bang my head against a wall. Knew the team at Farr was good, but you really gain some perspective when you start working with other shops. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Love the folks at Farr Auto! Denise always provides great customer service, and Nick explains everything I need to know to make an informed decision about the work needed on my truck. The mechanics there are thorough and skilled in all that they do. I have never had any issues with the work that they have done. They have taken excellent care of my truck and have always treated me as a valued customer, going on 3 years now!

I was a customer of Farr Auto to get an oil change, run a diagnostic, and get my A/C fixed. They told me it was urgent that I get new rear brakes. I found another shop that would do them for $100 less so I brought my car over there. That shop told me I had at least 5,000 more miles before I needed new brakes. Im so glad I got a second opinion. 5,000 miles is NOT urgent. That is one year of driving for me. Before they comment back and try to discredit me, I had a long conversation over the phone with them and they were misleading and argumentative about the entire situation. Receptionist included - just like the other reviews say. Take your car somewhere else, local, cheaper, and more trust-worthy.

I have nothing but positive things to say about my whole experience with this team. I’m a busy mom, business owner with a busy husband. I handled all of the details (without my husband) and the folks at Farr treated me with respect and explained everything throughout the process so I felt confident about making decisions. I was nervous about the cost of my situation and Nick and his crew never missed an opportunity to make me feel heard and relieved. I would highly recommend them. Not to mention they were booking about a month out and got me in within two weeks.

Great, knowledgeable service. The mechanic explained everything and checked with us before doing anything. Needed a new catalytic converter for my Honda CR-V and he checked around for prices to give us a quote before we committed to replacing it. He actually got an even better deal on the converter than he originally quoted us so it ended up being $50 less than we expected. Plus, my radio stopped working the same time I needed a new converter and the mechanic took the extra time to fix it and share with us how he fixed it so if it happened again we wouldnt have to bring the car in. Would definitely recommend Farr and will use them again in the future.

I have taken my vehicle in to Farr several times and theyve always done an excellent job. I feel like I am bringing it to a friend that I trust to give my their honest opinion of what needs to be worked on, if anything. I can tell they genuinely want to help and make sure you are comfortable and understand the work that needs to be done.

I do not live in Bozeman but have had two occasions where I needed repairs while there. Both times the repairs were done quickly and priced reasonable. I would definitely use them again.

I took my 93 Ford Ranger to Farr in May. Should be a fairly simple vehicle to operate on considered its a Ford right? Well my 4wd was not functioning and long story short, they charged me $300 to replace the transfer case motor. They gave it back to me saying the problem was fixed and it definitely WAS NOT. I had to take it back several times until they eventually told me to just sell my truck. I simply took my truck to a mechanic in my home town, and he informed me that the motor they put in was faulty. I went to the part store and warrantied the part and replaced it myself in about 45 min with little effort. Farr charged me $160 in labor for this! The front desk was very short with me and rude. Francis the mechanic was rude and short as well. The only helpful and friendly employee here is Nick. I am 20 years old and very friendly and patient and they treated me very poorly. I would most definitely not recommend Farr and will not be telling friends to go here either. Be careful!

I have had major car work done here (full engine replacement) down to just getting new battery cables installed, and every time the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Got done what I needed without any extra hassle or charge, and they really seem to care about their customers.

Never dealt with ruder people in my life- and Ive had a dozen cars and plenty of experience with mechanics.Took a car in to get looked at and they told me this car is a disaster, everything is falling apart, youre looking at thousands. I brought up that this contradicted a vehicle inspection report Id recently gotten at another auto shop (different city) saying that the vehicle was in fine shape and got the response cool. They actually just said cool.Figured Id try to dig deeper.Can I talk to Nick, who looked at the car?Theres no Nick here....OK can I talk to whoever it was that worked on it?No, but heres Francis (owner)Hey. I thought Nick was working on the car but I guess theres no Nick, I just have a few quick questio-There is a Nick. Thats my sonOh. OK. Well should I talk with him?Why? He didnt work on your car.OK...who should I be talking to?What do you want?This went on and on. No, I never talked to Nick OR got answers to basic questions such as whats wrong with the vehicle? When my sister went to pick it up theyd charged her $230 for repairs theyd started doing that she did NOT sign off on. Dont even get me started on the process of trying to send them simple proof of purchase for a warrantied part. It got to the point where an auto parts store in Idaho had to call them. Cant make this stuff up.I hate to speculate, but they were communicating with myself and my sister and I cant help but wonder how their town would have changed if theyd been talking to a rough n tough man instead of two women.**EDIT Nick marked the same review on yelp as funny so you can see how seriously they take their service.**

The gal at the desk was extremely rude, she acted like we were an inconvenience to her & the entire length of our truck was scratched when we picked it up. Wont be going back or referring anyone to do business there...Update: Regarding the statement that they had no record of me being there... It was my husbands truck that you worked on, his name is James Watson. He was in Billings when I had to retrieve a personal item from his truck while it was at your shop. It was parked in the front parking lot, along the south fence line when I arrived. I could definitely understand if it had been inside the shop or was currently being worked on at the time, but as I stated, it was parked along the fence in the front parking lot. There was absolutely no reason for the gal in the office to be rude to me when I arrived. My husband said he had a similar experience with her as well. We both agree that we will not be doing any business with the company in the future...

My driver happened to be Nolan Farr, the mechanic who actually worked on my car, and I was just blown away by their polite treatment, professionalism, and humanization of their customers. My daughter car overheated and she and her grandmother brought it in for repairs. They were told it would be 2300 dollars to fix as it needed a new water pump and it had a blwn head gasket. As it was a 2000 dodge it was time to scrap it. i picked up and the mechanic offered 300 for it, because he likes to tinker.Fixed it myself, new radiator cap and new thermostat, 11 dollars.

On two separate occasions, 6/25/2013 and 6/18/2014, after traveling from Fort Collins, CO to Bozeman to visit my son at MSU, Farr Automotive went above and beyond diagnosing and repairing my 2004 Denail when it had mechanical issues after arriving in town, even transporting me to and from the college so that I would not miss meetings... They treated me like I was a long lost friend, charged fairly for the repair of my vehicle, and never made me feel like I was being held hostage b/c I was stranded and under extreme stress. As a small business owner myself, I appreciate the integrity of quality work at a fair charge for services rendered, and that is why I can highly recommend them!

After being told by several garages that they couldnt work on our moving truck and being referred to Farr Automotive, we brought it in for diagnosis of some terrible noises. I went to farr about a month ago and they did the worst job i have ever had. first i went in to get my water pump replaced. they got that done but the crank and cam positing sensor went out no more that 2 days after they worked on it. yes if your thinking im relating them to the problem i am. they replaced the sensors and i had them save them for me. on inspection the crank had been hit and that is why i was not working (farr broke them). after i got the car back out of Farr it was vibrating really bad they said that it was the exhaust which it never made that vibration before going to them(again farrs falt). so i went to another local shop and it turns out it was the balancing shafts. so in conclusion Farr is one of the worst shops i have ever been in. i also have some more bad stories from friends if anyone needs more. just dont go to these back yard bumpkins.

Charged over $100 to tell mr whats wrong with it and I already knew. I told then the codes. Wont ever use them. B&B auto does green diagnostics! Go to them before using these people.
