I enjoy going over there for their great service and very informative staff. Ross the owner is a stand up man! They also have gunsmith service in-house.
Great guys. Will go the extra mile to help you out. They never ramped up the prices of supplies during Covid. They are willing to order you anything. And all in all, they are just a group of good guys. Fun to talk with and they really know their stuff. A must if you are a shooter.
Ive used the gunsmithing service here. All good results. Timely and affordable so far. Ill be back.
Very friendly and professional every time I have been a patron.
First Time Gun Buyers Beware! They tried to take advantage of my lack of knowledge, and were rude to me when I took the gun back to ask them questions about what they hade really sold to me.It looks like I will git my money back, maybe, not sure...I wouldnt do business with dishonest people, be careful!
Gunsport is a great local gun shop! I recently completed two transactions, and walked away completely satisfied with my buys. Ross and his crew are very knowledgeable and passionate. Im willing to pay a little more for convenience, service, knowledge, and to support a local business. For those who didnt have the experience they expected, find a different shop. Firearms is a specialty sport and hobby--find your own tribe if Gunsport didnt suit you. Im a lady shooter, and appreciate the staffs patience and calm demeanor. Thanks, Ross. Ill be back. 4-Mile Lady
Great store lots of deals on new and used guns. Very informative staff.
Within one minute of being in the store I was asked if I needed help. They were friendly, courteous, and walked me step by step through my first gun purchase for self defense and range practice. I also walked out with information on CCW classes, so I knocked out two things in one trip. Overall great experience.
Having been involved in this habit for over 50 years, I have seldom found a more knowledgeable and helpful place. If they dont answer the phone they cant. If you dont know what you are talking about dont criticize them, learn something! These people know more about antique and modern firearms than about anybody. Period.
This is a true family business. I have been purchasing from Ross and crew since they opened. They have something for everyone. Modern standards, high grade hunting, and my favorite military classics. Very female friendly! Ladies this should be your go to for self defense needs.
Always a pleasure dealing with these guys. Super knowledgeable, friendly and willing to help. I think the low reviews are from people with egos who got corrected. Will continue giving this shop my business.
Unimpressed. Bait and switch on pricing.Ordered a Mossberg 500 and agreed upon the price at ordering of $459+. A little higher than Cabelas, but Im willing to support local. After unanswered phone calls and email, eventually got through to complete the transaction, only to be charged $549+. No documentation of original price (I guess thats a bit on me; going to insist on it). Background check all done; not even sure on bargaining chips at this point. (First time buyer)Guess Ill take my business to Grandpas in the future.
It was a little intimidating walking into a gun shop for the first time, but the guys at Gunsport were very friendly and helped me choose a quality pistol for target shooting and home defense. Very happy with the service, selections, and prices here.
Fantastic guys at the shop. There is a lot of variety to look at and the staff there is incredibly helpful and does not try to oversell anything to you. I personally bought three guns from the store, and will definitely be back. Mr. George is incredibly helpful and a fun guy to talk to, i would suggest talking to him if you are interested in buying a firearm.
This is my first stop when looking for a firearm, be it an AR, antique model 12, or muzzle loader. Gunsport has a fabulous selection, new and used. If you like guns that are still made from steel and wood, they have the best selection. Gunsport also has superior optics, folding knives, and holsters. My son and I have been shopping here since the 1980s and have only had the very best experiences. The owner stands behind his products. I recently had some work done by the gunsmith and he did a superior job, so that is another reason to stop in. When I compare Gunsport to the plethora of Big Box stores up and down I25, there is no comparison, Gunsport is better in every conceivable way. I was astonished to read that some customers had a bad experience at this store. I find the employees to be universally polite and helpful. I cannot think of an exception. Of course, because it is the best store, it is often busy so I try to stop in on week days when it is not, and I am sure that helps when I have questions. You are buying a gun, not a car or a house, so if you are there when other customers are waiting cash in hand, as with any store, that is not the best time to get into a lengthy tutorial. Best to stop back later when they are less busy if you want to get into a long discussion. These people are not your bartender, priest, or shrink, they are merchants who sell firearms and they have large and loyal clientele for a reason.
Family owned business. These guys are humble, honorable, and knowledgeable about firearms in general. They have a great selection and a solid gunsmith on staff. I have purchased multiple firearms from their store and often they have the best price in the area. I have also purchased firearms from many other stores in the foothills area so I am aware of comparisons (lots of other great shops out there).
Bought 3 long guns and 2 pistols from them. Very friendly and helpful. Brought my daughter there to buy a .45 for her, and George helped. REALLY kind and helpful. I would encourage the ladies who wish to buy a firearm to work with George. Not having used an AR before (old school), one of the guys stepped me through it and am very happy with the purchase. Quite knowledgeable.
Took me back in time and reminded me of all of those gun shops of my younger years that fuels my pat ion for firearms. Folks with knowledge of their products and great conversation and excellent customer care. The kind of gun shop you wish every town had. Thanks for a wonderful visit, I’ll be back!
FIRST: understand this store is in Boulder, which is fairly unfriendly towards guns. The guys who work here are not your common Boulder residents, and they will not baby you. If you have questions you should ask, but they generally assume you already know what you are looking for. If they dont ask you if they can help, it is most likely because they assume you dont need it. Anywhere outside of Boulder, Denver, or any large city, these guys would be the norm. If you want help, you have to ask for it. This is just how these things are. You cant walk around the store just looking at stuff and assume they are going to help you of you dont ask. Also, if you do ask about something, make sure you have done at least a little research on what you are asking about beforehand.Personally, I know a moderate amount about guns and ammo, and I have been well served here. Not the best place ever, but it really is a decent place to go for anyone who is interested in firearms, and has done a little research on what they want/like. This is especially true considering it is right in the middle of Boulder.
This is the coolest hidden gem in Boulder. Garrett the gunsmith was very helpful.
Ross and the guys at Gunsport are the best around. Helpful, friendly, reasonably price and very knowledgeable. Over the years I have purchased over 30 guns from this store and have always had a pleasant experience. I have also sent numerous people, both newbies and experienced shooters there and they have all given me great reviews. Personally, I dont go anywhere else.
Everyone seems to rip on the staff in most of the reviews, which I guess I kind of get. They arent going to hold your hand and tell you how awesome you are for considering a Taurus as your next gun purchase. Its not Cabelas and they dont have a script they read from. But overall they are decent guys who are pretty knowledgeable about firearms. My only complaint is the prices, which are usually too expensive to consider. HOWEVER, I have found some better than Buds prices and deals here. You just have to look. They have a great selection of used guns that can be had for a pretty good deal. Just dont expect to be coddled here and you wont be disappointed.
Ive been going to Gunsport for years and have always been satisfied with the selection, knowledge of the staff and prices. You can probably find a better price out there but Gunsport is competitive. Great spot and always fun to venture in when time allows.
I went in, having no experience with firearms, with the intention of learning a bit and one day purchasing a hand gun for home protection. I was treated with respect and the staff was very helpful, taking the time to talk to me about the basics. I dont have any real basis for comparison because, as I said, I am inexperienced - so, I cant speak to the competitiveness of their pricing. But, based on how satisfied I was with the selection and staff, I highly recommend.
I cant say how many times Ive tried to call. I have a few questions and I have a few product availability inquires. No one EVER answers the phone, no matter what time Ive tried calling during business hours, ulitmately ending with the line being disconnected with no option to leave a message. The one time I did stop in person to ask a question about holsters I was spoken to like I was the dumbest human alive with a condescending tone. At this point thats fine, Ill take my business to Denver.
Gunsport is such a great store, I dont know why others would think otherwise.Every time I go in, I am treated very well. I am greeted and asked if there is anything I can be helped with. Whether im buying ammo or looking at rifles/shotguns, they treat me like I am buying their most expensive firearm. While I may not agree with them on some of their prices, they do have a great local feel, a qualified staff, and a good selection to choose from. Keep on going Gunsport!
Ive been doing business with this company for years and have nothing but praise for the employees, service, selection and ESPECIALLY their prices! They seem to be sympathetic towards their customers sales tax burden in this town - which sucks at 8+++% - and they do their best to compensate for that.Generally, their prices are lower than any place else, including the web stores, and if you decide to pay more and buy from an out of state store and have a firearm shipped to them so that you can take legal possession of it, theyre more than happy to help with that too, and the registration fee is very reasonable.Could anybody ask for more? I dont think so!
Very friendly staff! Coming from a country where the government is afraid of even kitchen knifes, entering a gun shop for the first time can be intimidating. But they (George) helped me pick a pistol for home defense and was patient. They dont have a large selection. And in fact most of their stock are the old stuffs. I wasnt going to buy a long gun. But their selection of vintage rifles surely tempted me. I would recommend this place!
Best place to purchase in the city of Boulder. Ive purchased and sold many weapons here and Ross and George have always been very welcoming and knowledgeable.
I live in Hawaii but visit gun stores when I travel. This is a great shop and I found all the staff and owner very friendly. The selection of quality used pistols and revolvers is excellent and I thought the prices were very fair for current market conditions. I like pre lock S&W revolvers and they had a large and nice collection of those, older Colts and Ruger revolvers. They had some cool custom 1911s. I liked the Clark Custom 45. And a bunch of other cool guns.Great store in Boulder. Keep up the good work.
Helpfull local shop there websites not all there is worth comeing or calling every time
Kind, knowledgeable staff, and an intriguing selection, though they charge more than some other local options across the board (transfers, ammo, various models, etc.).
A shoppers delight.Great selection of old and new. Always something interesting.
Lots of used inventory and older relics. I’ve purchased two firearms here so far. Both were cheaper here than other stores in the area. Obviously they’re not always gonna beat some of the screaming deals you can find online but I think it’s worth it to support a gun store defiantly placed in the heart of boulder.
Bought 4-5 guns, usually deal with Jason. No politics, not brand opinion driven. They assume you know something about guns, but if you dont theyll talk you through it. Good pricing, good service. Small inventory but not the giganto model of Cabelas, etc..Good thing actally.
Bought several guns here and one had a problem. It was a Sig Sauer that the owner sent back and turned out to be defective. Ross then gave me a 100% refund or exchange, so I exchanged it for a new H&K that I like better. Ive since bought a rifle plus optics and another handgun - great experiences both times. It can be busy and its best to not try and go in Sat. at noon or other high volume times, but Ive always had a great service. On those complaining about ammo - if price is a concern you should be buying online not retail. Ive never been in a retail store that compares with online ammo pricing, particularly if you buy 200 or more rounds at a time.
I have been a loyal customer here for about 8 years. There is no better place to purchase and learn about rifles, shotguns, and handguns in Colorado. Not only modern but the owner is an expert on Sharps and many antique models.Ross and Mike, will help you and answer your questions. I have never been misled or had any reason to think these people were not straight forward with me.I live in South Alabama and will travel to the area for my sons wedding and this will be my second stop coming from the airport.bobby your man in Alabama
Good selection of used firearms too bad they are all overpriced. The Boulder firearm tax doesnt help. Staff is not helpful or friendly.
Great ppl are great service here the prices are about the same unless you order online but when you have good ppl to talk to then this is the place to go to. Will be buying alot of stuff here.
Outstanding selection. Uncompromising expertise. Excellent customer service with an appproachable no-nomsense come to you mindset that sets the consumer at ease. Love Gunsport and their expertise and will continue to purchase firearms and accessories from them in the future. Pay close attention to their vast vintage lever actions, 1911s, CZs and pocket pistols. Love this store!
I have been to gun stores all around Colorado, and Gunsport is without question the worst one I have ever been to. It must have been hard to find employees this unfriendly and unhelpful in a place as friendly as Colorado, but the owner did. The owner himself is knowledgeable and friendly enough, but every single other person working at the store is almost comically aloof and basically useless. I consider myself a gun guy, and know a fair amount about firearms (though certainly no expert), and everyone in the store consistently talks to me like Ive never seen, held, or shot a gun. The prices are expensive, but about what youd expect for Boulder. The selection is decent enough. But ultimately, its just not worth dealing with the staff. I put up with it for several years, but my most recent visit to gunsport will be my last. If there were a single other alternative in town, gunsport would be out of business within the year. Make the drive to Blucore or some other decent store, you wont regret it.
Came from out of town. Nothing on their website that I could find about being closed Mondays, but closed they are. Should have read these reviews prior.
Large selection for any store if its size, friendly accommodating staff. I go out of my way to buy from these guys vs the big stores.
Really good people. Great service.
Great shop. Fair prices.
(This was four years ago).....I wont be back! I have visited Gunsport about five or six times now, bought my first gun there a month ago, as well as several trips back in for ammo, targets and speed loaders. Each time I ask a question, I feel treated like an idiot (while I am a new gun owner, I am intelligent and ask fair questions).Recently I wanted to purchase a rifle and asked if it could be ordered, Michael said he would look in to it, took my number and that was the end of it. A week later I visited another dealer, they made a few calls and found it for me with no problem. Today I walked in, cash in hand, looking for a CCW. I had been to a few stores in Denver this week and had spent several hours online reading reviews. I was pretty sure of what I was wanting, but just had a few questions. None of my questions were answered, and was treated very poorly again. So, I decided to give them another try....actually a few tries, as a friend keeps telling me how great Gunsport is. I really do love living in Boulder and would love to support my local businesses. Unfortunately today was another fail, and I am downgrading my review to a single star.About a month ago I went in looking for a 22lr rifle and received fair service and ended up buying a nice semi auto 22lr rifle. Today I went in, after doing a fair bit of research online and visiting several other stores, hoping to make a purchase. When I walked in, I said hi to the owner (who seems to always be parked at the front counter, but rarely interested in talking) and asked him if he was a CZ dealer and proceeded to tell him exactly what I was looking for. He said yes, and pointed me to the back of the store to a salesperson who knew nothing about them and couldnt answer any of my questions. When it was obvious I would have to do my own research, he suggested I give him a call when I found the answers to my questions and he could place the order. As I was leaving, I thanked the owner for the help, and he just looked at me and nodded his head. Was I expecting too much? After leaving, I called my friend (the one who keeps saying such great things) and he wasnt shocked at all. In fact, he shared of several other friends who had the same experience, and then went on to admit that it was probably because he had given them a deal on his business services in the past, that they now treat him well.
Arrogant, condescending and unhelpful.Im new to Boulder and CO and wanted to support a local business. Prior to today I had been in there 3 times and each time I was treated with a sense of were too busy to talk to you about this and we dont think you are a real buyer kind of attitude.Normally in the gun and hunting community you find that people and sales associates friendly and helpful.... most of the time its hard to shut them up. However the sales associates and owner of Gunsport couldnt be less helpful and curt with you, I guess its so they can get back to standing around doing nothing in the empty store.I think they felt like I wasnt a serious buyer or maybe they are just plain rude. Some may think I am crazy for going back, but today was the last straw and I feel compelled to share it so you dont waste your time trying to do business there.Today I wanted a simple background check for a transfer which they denied (after calling and asking CBI where I should go), it was a little different as I was transferring to a trust and they said they wouldnt do it.When I told them the attorney whom specializes in this recommended I get this done the owner took offense and said something to this effect Just cause you drop the word attorney on us doesnt mean we are going to buckle to your request get out of my store. Its a shame because Id like to support a local business. If you want to support a local Colorado based and owned store Id recommend Jax they are really knowledgeable on hunting and even helped me with recommending GMUs and filling out the licensing paperwork. And if you really want a huge range Id suggest you go to Cabelas or Bass because Gunsports range is average but most importantly:Lifes to short to be talked down to and treated like an idiot by arrogant retail store associates. Hope I saved you some time and angst.
Ive purchased three of my firearms from Ross at Gunsport and have never had any issues and I support them whole heartedly. They are very knowledgeable and down to Earth employees and owner. Its pretty much a family run business and I have never had any issues with them.I want to address some of these other reviews that have rated them a 1/2 star. Firstly, to the two Asian individuals that posted about IDs. I am Asian and was not IDd to look at a firearm the first time I walked in. Have you maybe considered they asked you for your ID because you look young? Take your naive racial attitude somewhere else and grow up. Secondly, to the individual that said that they were there for 20 minutes without being asked if they needed any help, I call B.S. on your lie. Every time Ive been to Gunsport (im there pretty much on a weekly basis) I have seen new customers walk in and they are immediately greeted by Ross who stands at the main counter and immediately following his greeting, either he or another employee will ask you if you need any help.I am an avid believer of supporting local and Ross is one of the most stand up individuals and firearm shops I have been to. Also in regards to overpricing their firearms, thats also a blatant lie because Ross policy for his pricing is actually 10-15% UNDER msrp, and that is a fact. The accessories, however, can at times be a little high. Gunsports pricing on ammo though is pretty much standard around town right now.Sick of liars trying to tarnish a reputable shop.
Friendly and well stocked store for Boulder.
A great longtime Boulder business.
Buy gun, shoot gun, happy camper.
Sucks, theres a fat guy behind the counter in his 30s that thinks his special. This place is a rip off.
Asked for ID when two others were not, why, I can only guess that being Asian is the answer, you decide from here.
Very helpful staff
NRA members boycott them.
Good shop
Good folks
