I had been wanting to come here for ages, lucky for me, today was the day. The service is great, the staff is so friendly. The inside smells like a bagel shop should, classy decor. The bagels are the perfect balance between crispy and chewy, with a tasty hint of wood smoke. Leaving with a happy belly and an extra half dozen.
If you’re a vegan, don’t come here. The first time I was here I ordered the tofu scramble. The place was relatively busy so I can understand this, but when I got my food, half the things were missing. I unfortunately got it to go and only checked my food when I was home, so I couldn’t ask them for what they missed. But every vegan knows what a good tofu scramble is. What I got had absolutely no tofu in it, and didn’t include the avocado that was listed in the description.I go back the second time to try and see if they can redeem themselves. My friend ordered the vegan woodchuck burrito, and I reordered the tofu scramble. My friend got her meal and it came with bacon. How do you order a vegan burrito and give someone bacon? Then, to make it worse, my tofu scramble actually had tofu this time! But, it was literally sprinkled in. There was about as much tofu as one tiny chunk of potato, but honestly less than that. There was so little tofu I could barely see it. In reality, a tofu scramble should be about half tofu, yet it was about 80% potatoes and the rest other vegetables, maybe .05% tofu. I’m tired of trying this place out and will probably never go again. On the bright side, their vegetables were nicely seasoned
I used to be obsessed with this place but the quality has definitely gone down. They used to use amazing bacon on their sandwiches but now it’s almost like the microwavable kind. Prepare to wait to catch someone’s eye for a pick up order. Bagels are great though!
Pretty pretty pretty goodBest bagels outside of nyc... a lot more expensive than nyc unfortunatelyI think the cream cheese could been more plentiful but overall very tastyThe ingredients in the egg sandwich didn’t really pop, the bagel was solid and was the rock star but I think the bacon or cheese could be a bit more potent.Missing nyc but excited to try more of their options. Very curious about the GF bagels and burrito. Next time...Update- GF bagels and burrito are solid! However they did mess up our phone order and gave us tempeh bacon - and I’m allergic to soy so that wasn’t great.
Every time I come here, they are out of a lot of options. One time they even ran out of bagels by mid morning. Hard to want to come back when Ive not been able to order the items I want.Response to owner: I appreciate the reply. Unfortunately, my experiences have all occurred in the morning not the afternoon. Yesterday, we came here for breakfast at 8:30AM and both vegan breakfast options were not available (a skillet and a burrito). The times I have been able to order something, the food has been great which is why I have kept trying to come back.Ive been to your business 5 or 6 times and 3 of those times I had to leave because the few vegan options were unavailable. I appreciate the fact that you offer several vegan items and will probably try to come back again sometime because of that, so hopefully Ill be able to try them and amend this review.
Not enough people working to keep up with delivery orders. Very simple orders taking 10-20 minutes, multiple delivery drivers waiting inlobby, very disorganized and slow. Obvious that not enough people are working to keep up with all the orders and the delivery system needs to be streamlined, really dropping the ball on your delivery system. Please take a look at your delivery order strategy and hire more staff during busy hours!!
We really wanted to love this place - got an everything bagel and an onion one. Both looked really pretty and the cashier was super kind. Unfortunately the everything bagel was over-the-top salty. We had to drink two glasses of water after trying to take most of it off. The onion bagel was much better. Hoping to give this place another chance.
Delicious IF you have the time. They make delicious, woodsy bagels. However, they take for-freaking-EVER to complete your order. Were talking 20 mins for a bagel with cream cheese.Grab an open table before ordering - youll be waiting (to go or not) for a while. Limited standing room for ~15 people inside.
Great bagel sandwiches and coffee, but keep in mind that you can substitute for the potatoes that come with each order... Its a lot of food with the potatoes.
I was told bluntly that each shot is $3 + tax. $6 for a double shot, $9 for a triple shot espresso. Super lame - long time customer no longer will be coming here! Also only 1 shot per coffee any size they have said. Changing pricing like this is not on regardless of inflation or cost increases. Called manager and she reenforced it with no attempt to understand frustration. Not on IMO.
Fantastic coffee, bagels, and food - well worth several visits to try out their entire menu.
The bagels here are pretty small and the egg and cheese sandwiches just dont taste that great.
Great vibe despite being in a strip mall. Bagel sandwiches are creative and tasty with fresh ingredients.
The bagel was so burnt. I went to try this place again after receiving a completely blackened bagel earlier. The owner even replied saying they would love to make it up to me but they did nothing. They messed up this order even worse. I received a loaded bagel with rotten avocado. I did not even wait to eat my bagel after it was made, it should have been fresh. It made me sick afterwards. I can’t believe they are getting away with selling this food.
Dont care too much for the cuisine I could do way better just my opinion
Whoever made this sign, well done.because of this effective peice of advertising, woodgrain got my twenty five well spent dollars. saw this sign out the corner of my eye walking back from the hardware store, even though I couldnt see the shop (luckily there was an arrow).you targeted ad people, take note (I know youre listening you scoundrels). all I need is for you to tell me exactly what I want, and what direction I need to go to get it.(obviously the bagels here are excellent, you can kind of tell that from the sign, somehow)
Really, really delicious bagels! Honestly, what more can I say? I pick up a few whenever I have a chance. The store is charming and the bagels are awesome.Marked them down a star only because I tend to get half-dozens to eat at home, and twice this year, Ive gotten a bagel that was raw on the inside. :( I understand that theyre cooked in a wood-fired stove, so Im sure getting the temperature right is a challenge, but knowing that doesnt make it any less disappointing when you bite into a chunk of raw dough the next morning!
Popular for a reason! Excellent coffee and great staff. Didnt get did this time, but I will next
Bagels were very good and flavorful. Thumbs up.
Disappointed. I ordered a sausage skillet with eggs over medium for carry out. Food was lukewarm and under seasoned. The eggs were undercooked. There were giant slices of red onion that were still crunchy. The bagel on the side was burned and had the consistency of supermarket bagels.
We drive 20 minutes to the Boulder location for our curbside pickup of the BEST bagels around. The Montreal Style bagels are like no other! We love the Everything and Cinnamon Raison bagels. We also tried the Breakfast Burrito today and this is not a small burrito; full of egg, bacon, potatoes and cheese, we will order this again and cant wait to try a breakfast sandwich. We appreciate the curb side pickup and hope soon we can enjoy eating at this location!
Excellent bagels and a nice outdoor seating arrangement
Inconsistent.I would happily give them a 5 star but they are very inconsistent. I order the same thing all the time and it’s never the same quality, or the bagel isn’t toasted, cream cheese is smeared unevenly, poor presentation. They taste great but they need to have more quality control.
A wonderful hidden gem in Boulder! What a lovely place to eat and chill. It was kinda loud inside, but that was due to how many people were having a good time inside the building. The decor is fantastic, the staff was friendly and helpful, and they have the coolest door handles of all time.I got a salt & pepper bagel with salmon on it and it was to die for. Plans are being made to go back again on a date day! Do not sleep on this place.
Bagels are super, but it is a really slow place. Order and be sure you have plenty of time to wait!
I love this place. Very friendly service every time Ive been.Great coffee. Tons of freshly baked goods, bagels, egg sandwiches, avocado toast... all delicious.About a dozen small tables for outdoor seating.
Amazing bagel sandwiches and friendly service. Found my new breakfast place!
Winners as far as delivering for. They on top of things
They have an amazing selection for breakfast and lunch. I love their VLT (Vegan BLT) and their vegan everything bagel with vegan cream cheese! They have gluten free bagels too!
Rustic decor and friendly service. I had the Mile High Rueben. The bagle sandwich was prepared quickly and I chose potatoes as the side. My total was $14.15 total and that is #eatoutsiderather pricey for a sandwich. I did not purchase a beverage. The sandwich was impressive, it is stacked with very tender pastrami. I could not really taste the cheese but overall it was quite tasty and filling. The potatoes were unimpressive. I might return and I recommend if you dont have a problem with the price.
Very friendly and very good food. However, a simple breakfast sandwich took 20 minutes to get. Unfortunately, the wait time is going to make me think twice about coming back. There was no one else in the place (Lowry). Unfortunate considering the food is very good.
Gluten free bagels are pretty good. I was disappointed that they toasted them without asking a preference. 👎
Mediocre but expensive bagels, tasteless cream cheese, and it was colder inside than outside. No reason to go back.heating
I tried their fried chicken bagel and not a big fan of it. Will try other items in the menu
Really love the vegan VLT sandwich and happy that there is this great vegan option on the menu. (There are some other vegan options im excited to/hoping to try in the future!)
Best breakfast sandwich in Boulder. I’ve only DoorDashed so I don’t know if the staff is friendly but they’re hella competent. Give this place a try. (Add capers for extra excitement)
One or two of the worker guys was way too interested in being all over me. Told them to stop
EXCELLENT job team!Counter staff friendly, wait time short, nice outdoor seating and more important - solid portions on tasty food. You can always judge a place by its Breakfast Burrito!Sure yer paying Boulder prices, but here you feel like you got your moneys worth.
If I could give more stars I would. I went here for the first time this morning. The guy behind the register was AMAZING. Hands down the best customer service Ive had in a while. My husband and I got a to go order and when we got back home the amazing experience continued. I am currently eating the best everything bagel I have ever eaten. We will going back for dinner to try the pountine!
Love that they are using “Boxcar” coffee. Great espresso☕️ as
Great service! Nice bagels
Not the tastiest food for the price, seems nice though.
We stop here every time we are in town. The bagels are amazing.
Took 25 minutes to get our order. Egg sandwich was cold.
Just ordered a breakfast burrito and paid $13. I paid for extra bacon but got no bacon at all. There was no Poblano pico and over all pretty tasteless. It was also not wrapped and just falling apart. I tried calling but their phone number isn’t working. I really would just like to talk to someone about it and maybe get a refund for the extra things I paid for and did not get. The woman who handed me my bag of food was really sweet.
Ate here for the first time today. We loved the poppy seed bagel and the service was excellent. However, I was pretty disappointed with the Tofu scramble. The menu did not list regular potatoes, only sweet potatoes, and probably half the dish was potato. I definitely wouldnt have ordered this had I known. I also wasnt a fan of the mushy, grainy tofu - I guess theyre trying to make it like an egg replacement but I personally would have preferred tofu cubes. We will try again though! Really loved the bagel!!
Good bagel, jalapeno cream cheese was excellent
I work at wood grain, as a public disclosure. The daily work here is really good. The coffee program could be overhauled to 1/2 a pot of coffee every 30 minutes or so. Dillion is a diligent manager who cares for his workers. I oppose Gregory Brown’s complaint because he comes off as one of those costumers that look right through you when you serve them their food. To be honest, the worst part of a restaurant job is when a white man walks in to the store and expect to be served by the people of color working at the restaurant. My coworkers are dehumanized as “those line workers”. But I doubt Gregory saw the same two workers the repeated times he visited the establishment. I’m disappointed that because Gregory wasn’t treated with “the Customer is always right” attitude He decided to use his privilege as a white man to bully some restaurant. Take your 20$ and go else where. Our collective dignity is worth much more, can’t say much about Mr. Brown though...
The yummiest bagels and tons of delicious cream cheese options. Everything I’ve had here is nothing short of perfect!!
Definitely worth visiting, especially if youre looking for a good breakfast sandwich. Great bagels, decent price for the egg/meat/cheese bagels that come with a side. Great customer service there, staff is always awesome
Yummy bagel sandwich and potatoes. I appreciated their effort to reduce waste. They have a satisfying VLT - fried seitan version of a BLT.
3.5 honestly the avocado toast was boring. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. This is a bagel joint and all... Service and atmosphere was great but $15 toast was average. The egg was just okay. It needed more flavor. I had high hopes. Maybe we will meet again since the coffee was good. Maybe.
The staff and managers are so friendly and kind! The bagels are scrumptious... Im from Brooklyn and I find most bagels in Boulder inedible :/ this place does not carry NY style bagels but though they are distinctly different they are sooo yummy. So many delicious breakfast platter options too. Only complaint is that it is a touch expensive!
We went here for breakfast before going to the Rocky Mountains. The place pretty much makes their bagels in house starting at midnight and goes until about 8:00 or 9:00 in the morning. The bagels themselves are delicious. I ordered an avocado egg toast on a onion bagel and that hit the spot. Another person in the party ordered a bagel with cream cheese with salmon on it but it looks like they barely added any cream cheese to it. Although not a big deal we went up and asked them for some more overall the food was great but it was too expensive for what it was.
I just read Gregory Hayes review, what a joke. I have been going to the boulder shop for years. Dillon and the team are amazing. They have been great before and during covid! Thanks to the boulder team for being open during this weird time.
Got an everything bagel with chive cream cheese. Bagel is way too salty. I paid almost $3 for cream cheese and there was barely any on it. The rest of the menu look great but if you’re called a bagel place you should make sure they’re good.
Love the bagels and the portions of the meals because every meal bagel you order, you get their delicious breakfast potatoes. Those hit the spot after a morning work out. Their bagels are great texture and taste delicious. When they very first opened, they were on the firm/crispy side but since then, theyve mastered the balance of soft to toasted. They offer delicious and well-made espresso/coffee. Sometimes they can run a bit slow but usually its because theyre making something fresh. I havent explored many of their pastries but the cinnamon rolls were quite tasty. Would highly recommend as a breakfast place either in-house or to-go!
Always a favorite when in Boulder!
Never have I ever come across a gluten free bagel that holds a candle to Woodgrains.
Really solid bagels, even the gluten free bagels are delicious. Would recommend
Do not eat here if you have any sort of allergy!!! I have had 2 incidents here. The first one they gave me a full gluten tortilla after ordering a gluten free one and paying extra. I called a few hours later because I was sick and it turns out they gave me the wrong one. I just went here again giving it a second chance, ordered a gluten free bagel and they gave me a gluten one. I just spent the last 15 minutes making myself throw up in the bathroom. This is Boulder. I would hope we could trust restaurants with allergies. Super careless.
My favorite breakfast place in Boulder. The food is good but I am most impressed with the local feel. There is an employee named Trevor who makes my experience so positive every time. Love him and hope this restaurant realizes what an asset he truly is.
Come early, or they will be out of many items. I am sure that this is just a testament to the high quality, but it was a bit frustrating to be told 3 different times that the kind of bagel I wanted for my sandwich was gone. The food tasted great, and the customer service was nice. We seemed to catch them at a busy time, but it would be nice if they kept a more consistent supply of the bagels and gluten free bread.
I wasnt that impressed
Salty wood-fired bagels. So good, I try to stop by at least once a week
3-1/2 to 4 stars for food, location & ambience; 2 stars for service. Bagels are quite good, coffee so-so. “How would you like your egg?” is a rhetorical question. Your food is brought out to you, but tossed in front of you without uttering a word or making sure you have anything to eat it with. I had to get up and wander around to find silverware and salt & pepper, while they weren’t particularly busy & had plenty of help, yet just don’t seem to care. And, I tipped quite well up front, so, lesson there is hold off on a tip to see how things work out.
I was visiting from out of town so I was so sad the potatoes my friend loves werent available (broken fryer or something). But it was still delicious, bagel sandwich and coffee both! Mostly I loved the decor. Cute and clean shop, and the pastries looked great.
This place is dank. Best bagels in town and legit gluten free bagels that are hearty and delicious (not easy to find.) They have incredible customer service and wholesome vibes all around. Thanks guys!
Everything that could be wrong about a bagel place... it was $9.25 (YES, almost $10) for an egg meat and cheese bagel. This apparently included potatoes, but I would have happily not paid $4 extra for those had I been given a choice. The bagel itself was just terrible ( and Im not a new Yorker who hates every bagel, Im pretty lax on the bagel standards), with some eggs which had been cooked instead of reheated from frozen (a plus), but they were cooked terribly and bathed in oil! (Not a plus). Overall the ambiance was nice but the pricing is laughable and the quality of the products was nowhere close to the ridiculous amount of money they are asking for what you get.
5 stars because I was a diva and ordered a burrito with no tortilla, which they don’t really do, and they were super nice and made it for me anyways. I’ll be low maintenance and just get a GF tortilla next time, thanks guys! Also 5 stars because their burritos are the best.
The place and ambiance was decent. First disappoinment was the fact that they ran out of chicken and there werent any options left. It took longer than standard time to serve the food. Everything ordered was just okay taste wise. Food and serving could have been much better if there wasnt a disharmony.
Love this place, when I lived closer I went at least once a week.
Lets start with the fact that the prices at the restaurant dont match the prices online. Online says $7 for egg, meat, and cheese with option to add potatoes for $1. In the restaurant it was $8.75 and came with potatoes, which I didnt really want. The next issue is that it took 25 minutes, yes 25, to get my bagel sandwich to go. I tried the potatoes since they were there and they were lukewarm by that time. I will say the bagel was good, ingredients seemed fresh not reheated (this is the only reason I gave 2 stars), however I was put off when the girl who was running the cash register turned around and began prepping food (with gloves on) but didnt stop to wash her hands, nor was her hair pulled back (at minimum though she shouldve been wearing a hairnet). It seemed chaotic with different staff running all over instead of a streamlined process. Like I said, the bagel was good, but definitely not good enough to return there.
I cant believe there are any negative review, this place is incredible! The manager is exceptionally nice and attentive. They have great, fresh food and innovative ideas. The baked goods are mouth dropping beautiful!! Love this and try to take anyone new there that I can!
I really liked this place. The atmosphere is more on the hipster side, which Im a fan of. The food was really good, and the bagels were comparable to Moes, which Im also a HUGE fan of. The vanilla latte I got was perfect and came with a cute little biscuit. My only issue was that I felt there wasnt enough of a variety of bagel sandwiches. They have the standard bacon, egg, and cheese. But I guess I had this expectation that this place would compare to Moes in terms of the selection of bagel sandwiches, and it fell short for me. I think I would have been fine with a smaller selection had they been a bit more unique.
Great atmosphere, excellent food, hipster haven. I especially enjoy the savory bagel options: the salt & pepper bagel with poblano cream cheese is unique and delicious. Their skillets are good, but almost to healthy, lacking the level of salt and fat I expect. Lattes and service are good, but the draw is definitely the bagels!
On December 20th at 2:50 I got 2 drinks, it took forever to be made and she made awful drinks !!! She had brown hair.
Fresh, tasty, easy
Bagels are freshly made! The breakfast sandwiches are good. The only thing I didnt like were the potatoes on the side... but Im picky about potatoes
Love the vegan options!
They’re bagels are made fresh and they allow dogs to be outside but wow is the service bad. This is a restaurant i like to frequent on my walks with my dog but I’m not going to be coming anymore. I paid 10$ for grilled chicken and veggies on a bagel. Not only did they not have any grilled chicken and didn’t communicate that, I was told after the fact by a very snarky worker. Then I had to wait back online to ask them to change it to an egg and bacon sandwich because I wanted my money’s worth I added a few more veggies including avocado. My bagel came without any of the veggies I paid for originally and with a horrible tasting spread I did not ask for because I am intolerant to mayonnaise, and when I asked for my other vegetables on the side to place myself I was met by another worker with more attitude. I paid 12$ in total after tip to this place I genuinely like to come to because I always found it to be quite easy and quicker for Boulder’s standards, but the service keeps getting worse and worse and the food is overpriced and not worth it. I would urge you away from going to wood grain bagels if you don’t want an aggravating morning where you’re out money and still hungry.
Absolutely amazing breakfast sandwiches and great cold brew coffee!!
Damn good bagels. Everything + chive cream cheese is a winner.
WoodGrain Bagels has been open here in town for some time now but today was the first time Ive stopped in. I loved the atmosphere / decor and do see myself coming here again. I had an onion bagel with chive cream cheese and it was good but still a step below Moes, in my opinion. The bagel was doughier than I like (could be just what Montreal Style is, I dunno), the schmear was adequate and good. Ive heard their cinnamon rolls are the best around and thats what I thought Id get when I came in but ultimately changed my mind about that when I got there because it felt just wrong to not get a bagel.
Bagels are mediocre. $2.50 for a small ramekin of cream cheese? So ridiculous. Head next door to Harvest Bread and get better bread and actually reasonable prices. I know this is Boulder but come on. By the way, the value does NOT justify the price. Nice try though! --- response: Yes, Harvest provides a different experience. A superior one. Thanks.
Nice staff but both the poutine and everything bagel were kinda bland. Idk I might try em again maybe it was an off day.
Oh my god these bagels are so good. I have gone there every day for the past 9 days and the employees dont judge me at all when I ask for extra extra cream cheese. As an east coaster I find bagels in Colorado to reflect the climate - dry and dusty. However these Angels (autocorrect changed bagels to angels - probably not a coincidence) are so moist and delicious that now I truly have a reason never to return to New York again.
Just okay bagels, nothing to write home about, but asked what type of wood they use and they pull out 2 x 4’s..... is that even considered wood? I guess it’s more like a Boy Scout convention there and Home Depot is down the road. Was hoping they would tell me Oak or something you would typically cook with. Apparently your neighborhood carpentry supply is the new resource of this trendy shop.
