I couldn’t find a shop in Denver that had an appointment to service my Sprinter and diagnose it’s check engine light because they were booked solid for months. So I drove all the way out to Boulder because this shop came highly recommended and could get me in in a reasonable time. I’m very glad I did.The work they performed was top notch, fairly priced (yes it’s slightly expensive but that’s what you sign up for when you buy German!)They were incredibly honest and transparent and were able to give advice on what repairs should be done right away and which could wait. They kept me constantly updated and even finished it before they said they would and then offered to come in when the shop was closed for me to pick up.I highly recommend this shop!

Got in quickly for an engine light and oil change. Had a DEF warning also come on the day before service for those familiar with Sprinter diesels. Patton took car of everything swiftly and I was back on the road in a few hours. He called me before service, asked a few questions, got my input and agreement and went to work. I had my truck sent in to have a dead alternator/ solenoid repaired. It was towed to the shop on Saturday 4/24 and work began on 5/26. Cormac called me and shared that suspension and other parts were under torqued. I gave permission to do 3 things - alternator replace, torque suspension and ball joints to spec, and complete an engine oil change.I returned from vacation on Sunday 5/2 and had one of my employees pick up my vehicle for drop off at our offices. No issues presented.Today is Thursday May 6th - I left a clients home and received a phone call minutes later that there was a good pool of gear oil in their driveway. Not how I want to leave a clients home.I pulled over immediately to find that my service cover bolt wasnt even hand tight. I took pictures of the vehicle on the wrecker and its clear to see the cover is dry. This is unacceptable.I was really frustrated with how Cormac spoke to me. Yes I have worked on my vehicle and definitely could do a better job with my upkeep and torquing but it was a complete displeasure to have my vehicle serviced on here.After I had paid for my vehicle and arranged it to be picked up - Cormac texted me an unsolicited photo of my head gasket after he knew my vehicle was leaving the shop to tell me that I had a bad head gasket. As if this would have me stop what I was doing and have it handle for thousands of dollars. I refuse to believe this is a fair and honest tactic for sales.I was ready to have them do maintenance but after the way I was treated and spoken to - I was going to take mercy and give 2 stars because my car does start now. After finding a hand tight plug on something they shouldnt have touched. I wish I could give 0 stars.

Purchased an unfitted sprinter that rode like the back of an army duce and a half. My passengers said they hurt after even short rides. The Shop Automotive was referred by a local van upfitter for suspension work.Working with Patton, and he was very professional and knowledgeable. Had the vehicle weighed and found we were within 1000lb of max weight. Set a plan to lift the vehicle, replace shocks, springs and sway bar. Vehicle now rides more like a sedan than a truck at a reasonable price (in my opinion). They were timely, did a lot of work to get material in short notice, professionally and expeditiously handled wrong parts from Mfg, and compressed the turn around time at my last minute request. I cant speak more highly of them and will use them again myself! I dont write a lot of on-line reviews but their product was exceptional and I think sharing real and positive experiences is important.

It bums me out to write this, because I really wanted to like these guys. I showed up at the shop with a communication issue that they immediately and confidently said they could fix. A week later I had a $2000 estimate for fixing the issue and needed maintenance. After picking up the van which in their words was ready to drive to Alaska we headed out and didnt even make it two hours before the problem reared its ugly head again. We returned to the shop for another $1000 in diagnostic repairs and they assured me again that the problem was fixed. This time we made it 4 hours before it happened again. Upon returning to the shop for a third time, they basically told me they could not fix the issue and did not offer a refund for failing to provide a service. I am sure they can perform routine maintenance but I wouldnt suggest them for much more than that for any sprinter service unless you want to waste a bunch of time and money.

I read previous reviews regarding The Shop Automotive and they appeared to be very positive. I made an appointment for the check engine light on my Sprinter RV and asked them to look at my front brakes. Everything appeared promising but after three days the mechanic told me they couldnt fix the check engine light issue. They did determine there was a problem with the DEF tank heater or sensors. It was either too hard to get to or they didnt have the time or resources to make the repairs. The bottom line is that I left with shop with new front brakes pads but with the check engine light still on. And I still need to find a shop who can do the necessary repairs to the DEF tank heater.

This place is excellent! I have brought my car to The Shop Automotive LLC for five years. They are always able to diagnose and fix any problems. Their employees are knowledgeable and friendly. I never felt like I was charged excessively. Highly recommend!

My Sprinter is at The Shop Automotive right now, as the Alternator put in two years ago by a generic repair facility that does mostly tires and under-car services. Prior work to correct work by others, and work NEEDED but MISSED by a lazy dealership was so satisfactory, this likely will be the only place it goes for all service.

I had just started a road trip in my campered-out Sprinter van when my Check Engine light came on. I called them while on the road, and they said they could do an OBD scan right away. They took care of me immediately when I drove in, looked at the codes, and gave me an honest assessment of the situation. I was on my way in no time! IIm a no to this business. While there are some positives, you should know about the negatives.Jason is the owner. He was initially awesome on the phone which is why I decided to take my Range Rover into them. Once I took it in, his tech, however, was condescending and a horrible communicator.When I raised it with Jason, he was apologetic but did not handle the issue.The biggest problem is an issue they missed. They told me there was no problemI with my suspension even though I told them the light kept coming on and that the Range Rover dealership had said there was a problem with the suspension.After picking it up, the light continued to come on and the error message says I cant drive it over 30 miles per hour.When I called them back to see about getting the issue looked at, Jason was extremely condescending. There were multiple people listening to how he spoke to me (I had him on speaker) and were appalled by his lack of professionalism. (they had choice words about him after the call)Even though they made the error and he agreed it would only take 30 minutes to look at it, he is refusing to look at it for 2 weeks. That is a problem for me given that we want to use it for my birthday weekend to go on a staycation.Im fuming about the arrogance and complete unprofessionalism of this guy.

I cannot say enough good things about the shop automotive. These guys are probably the most thorough, competent, honest and incredibly intelligent mechanics I have encountered. John, the owner, has great and extensive experience and know-how from his career as a mechanic and it shows when you talk to him about your own vehicle. Jason Patton (another mechanic at the shop automotive) is NASA mechanic smart. He really really knows his stuff and is extremely informed and passionate about his work. This is the kind of shop I want to do business with. Try them out, you wont go wrong.

Brought my 2005 sprinter here to have some work done. Everything they did was done well. They didnt overcharge me for parts and the hourly wage was reasonable. They had plenty of knowledge on sprinters which was a relief. Not many shops both auto and diesel understand sprinters or even want to work on them. The shop got me in very quickly and the repairs were done in 2 days. So far everything is going well on the vehicle. The shop employees are very friendly and know what they are talking about. I will definitely go back when I need more repairs.

Love these guys! My fiance and I were passing through Boulder and needed a quality mechanic we could trust. We called around and went with these guys because they came in under the estimates of the other shops and seemed genuinely cool. We got our timing belt replaced on our 2005 Toyota Sienna and various other jobs done at the same time. These guys were fair, efficient, honest and did really good work to get us back out there on the road. Would definitely recommend them to anyone!!!

Best experience with a mechanic ever! I know close to nothing about cars but these guys are solid! And they are quick, too.I got detailed feedback within hours of driving my car over. John didnt try to sell me anything. He suggested priority areas and gave me an estimate for the fixes that will have to be made eventually.He took my concerns seriously, even though they turned out not be issues. The Shop basically crafted a completely new vehicle for us out of a 1990 Toyota 4Runner. John expertly rebuilt the engine and front end suspension of the vehicle. For us, it was much more practical to rebuild than to buy an unknown vehicle off of Craigslist, or to finance something. The Shop communicated with us every step of the way, letting us know if an unforeseen issue arose. The cost was well within what we expected, and worth every dollar. I cannot begin to describe how amazing Shop Automotive and John have been to our family without first describing a bit of the horror we experienced with Christian Brother’s automotive (CB). We brought our little Saturn Ion to CB for an inspection, oil change, and figure out why our car was making “clunking” noises and to potentially get our door that wouldn’t open repaired. The clunking was coming from the sway bar system and they recommended that we replace everything… the sway bar itself, the bushings and the links. They that we get an alignment done because of doing “front end work”. They also charged us $90 to “diagnose” that our car door needed a new latch kit, they then wanted to charge us another $270 for parts and labor on top of their diagnoses to fix it.Luckily I ran from them. My father is a mechanic and was able to offer some insight and told me to shop around. That led me to Shop Automotive and John. I dropped the car off with John and in an hour he did a once over on the car, found the same issues that CB had found, oh and he FIXED THE DOOR. HE FIXED THE DOOR IN UNDER AN HOUR. No new parts, no $90 diagnostics… fixed. He also assured me the sway bar and the bushings were fine. He found parts WAY less expensive for the same quality as compared to CB He also was confused when I had said CB Auto recommended an alignment because I was having “front end work done”. Sure enough upon further research, the sway bar has nothing to do with the alignment on the car. Despite copious rust on my Midwestern van and short notice, the repair was done expertly. Hate to break down on a trip, but very happy I made my way to The Shop.

These guys are great! Everyone there is super friendly and knowledgeable, and after my experience The Shop is the only place I’d recommend.My ancient Ford Focus had been without heat in the cabin for about 6 mostly-freezing months, and instead would blow cool-to-lukewarm air. Google said it probably needed a new thermostat. I wasted my time taking my car to two other places in town, one of which told me the thermostat was fine and the other said that they couldn’t find any issues. Took my car to The Shop a few weeks ago and Jason was able to quickly diagnose the problem. Guess what? Needed a new thermostat. Now the heat works perfectly, problem solved. Wish I had just taken my car here in the first place!Jason also recommended that two of the engine mounts be replaced, but it turned out that only one needed replacing. I really appreciated the honesty, since theres no way I would have known the difference, and they could have easily made a few more bucks by replacing both. And now my car doesn’t vibrate like it’s about to explode, yay! I’ll definitely be coming back.

I thought I needed my clutch replaced, but they convinced me it was totally unnecessary. Their work is high-quality, timely and professional. Despite his advanced training in European vehicles, I have been bringing my old Tacoma to John for years, and hes kept it running as good as new for a very fair price, especially compared to other local shops. When I brought my Chevy Astro to Jason I made the mistake of buying parts that did not fit. Even though the repair took much longer than expected he did not charge extra. John did a full inspection on my van and gave me a list of the repairs necessary with a breakdown in order of priority. The guys were very honest with me and recommended I look into getting another vehicle since it was not likely I could make my van reliable on a reasonable budget. The Shop is the first place I have taken my car without feeling like I’m being taken advantage of. 5 Stars!

Really impressed with this shop and will be bringing my vehicles here going forward after a recent experience. I took my wifes newer Subaru to wALMART in Lafayette last Saturday for an oil change (yeah, yeah, why did I bring it there?!) and they drained the transmission fluid! Of course, they didnt know what to do other than telling me I might be able to drive it to a mechanic. Long story short, the only shop open on a Saturday night that I could find was this place, so I had it towed there and promptly taken care of. Jason has done a great job on 4 different cars. The first thing he did for me was to fix a Ford F250 stranded up in the mountains. He came to the vehicle, diagnosed the problem, went and got parts, and fixed it where it sat. Awesome! Hes since done a variety of repairs on an Audi, Ford Taurus X, and a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Ive had John work on my Ford F-250 a few times, first on the hubs and then he addressed an injector issue. Hes a great mechanic...very organized, clean, calculated and above all honest. I would not hesitate to bring any of my vehicles back to him for servicing.

I cant speak highly enough of The Shop and Jason! I had never been to a mechanic before and was worried of being taken advantage of. Jason took a real interest in my car problems, addressed all of my concerns, and explained the problems to me in a way that I could fully understand. He even did a general maintenance check and gave me a list that prioritized the issues so I could focus on the bigger problems without breaking the bank. I will definitely be coming back!! Jasons mechanical knowledge and experience is obvious from the get go. He is trustworthy and not under any pressure to meet certain work/profit goals like many repair shops, and because of this he wont fix the unbroken. The mechanic that serviced my car several months ago strongly encouraged I service my breaks, he said I probably only have a couple hundred more miles on them. I finally got around to following his advice this week, and 5000 miles later, and asked Jason to replace the rotors. Jason could have made a good amount of money for this ~$800 repair, instead he gave me a call and pointed out that my brakes were in fine condition and did not need replaced. Great evidence of his attention to detail and his honesty. He also offers a great pickup/drop off service which makes everything even more convenient.

Jason is my go to mechanic for every bit of work on my vehicle. He is a technical master, and a great personality to deal with. I trust him 100% to do great work at a fair price, which is true of no other mechanic Ive dealt with.

While we were in Boulder picking up a U-Haul, our car had a wiring issue causing our trailer lights not to work. The guys at The Shop were able to check out our problem during an inconvenient time, a Friday afternoon around 4pm. The Shop is clean, welcoming, and the crew is super friendly. They deserve five stars! John went out of his way and stayed a few minutes late in order to get the job done so that we could get back over to U-Haul before they closed. Thank you for the great service guys! I will definitely go back to The Shop if I need work on my car in Boulder.

John has been my go to mechanic for a couple years now. He is very honest, reliable, reasonable and easy to work with. He will only fix what needs fixing and always explains what he is going to do before he does it. I would recommend him to anyone who needs a great and trustworthy mechanic!Dave C

Im a rather jaded guy in general but I cant speak highly enough about this garage. Highly knowledgeable, got us in last min on a Saturday, greater detailed and patience than Ive seen yet in a shop, steller custumer service, they are clearly going the extra mile as a small business across the board. I highly recommend giving them.(Directions) After you turn off the main road go right and then straight they are in the middle of the group of warehouses behind the parked cars and across from the outdoor equipment shop

The springs of my car needed some uplifting and service be done on them so i had these folks do the work. They were so professional and thorough.

Quality work, great service. Ive had Jason work on my VW a couple times now - he does an excellent job, fast turnaround, and honest prices. He replaced my rear brakes, spark plugs, and more, as well as general maintenance (oil, etc.). My go to place.

John has handled any auto issues weve had and has given us great advice for several years now. His honesty as a mechanic is exemplary.He replaced a knock sensor in our valley car which we had both thought went bad (cheap and easy fix). It turned out that the issue wasnt a bad knock sensor but rather a more serious internal engine issue. John spent a significant amount of time, at his expense, further diagnosing the problem only to recommend not putting any more money into the car. He thoroughly explained the problem, the cause of it and why, in his opinion, it didnt warrant putting any more money into the car.Through the years John has earned out trust by always putting the customers interest first. Hes our trusted mechanic for any advice, service or repair.

John and Jason are awesome!!!! John has been working on my car for over a year now and he will continue to be my mechanic. You wont find more reliable and honest service in Colorado. If you are on the fence about which shop to go to in Boulder, Jason and John are your guys.

Edit: John called me to straighten everything out. Bummed I had to take it somewhere else to get an alignment, but the rest of the work they do is good for a fair price, and reaching out to clear things up was big. Would go back in the future.The Shop didnt honor an estimate they gave me, calling it a clerical error. They added some suspension components to my car and replaced bushings in the steering, and didnt include the necessary alignment. The original estimate for the work included the alignment, but when I called back they said it wasnt performed and I had to go to a different shop to get it done. Did nothing to help me out other than blaming the clerical error. After spending nearly $2k in a couple months with them I would have expected better service.

This shop is hands down the absolute best place you could take your vehicle. Excellent service, fantastic prices, and the best staff. I will be going here for all car needs!!!!!!!!! These guys ROCK!!!!!!!!!!

Short review: Just – YES – These guys are legit.Longer Review: John and Jason are running a tight, clean, and knowledgeable operation at The Shop Automotive. It was a huge relief to work with a shop that is competent, generous and honest.My experience there was very positive. The ’96 Toyota T100 (the one I bought from my brother-in-law) was making all sorts of noises. I asked a friend where I should go.“Just go to The Shop – That’s where all of our employees go.”Co-owner John started by putting my T100 on the lift and walking me through everything he saw. Afterward, his business partner Jason presented me with a daunting list of issues. My finances weren’t great at the time, so they helped me pick what needed to be done immediately and what could wait. I live out of my T100 doing freelance work, so the investment was well worth it to me. My repairs are guaranteed for 3 years or 36k miles.I had initially gone to a mechanic who did both of my rear wheel bearings when they simultaneously failed. He was a really nice guy, but he wasn’t competent. In this case, being thrifty cost me more in the long run. His repairs were inspected at The Shop, where we discovered he’d used drywall construction caulk to seal the wheels to the axles and had taken a grinder to one of my axles to remove the old bearings; my tire could have shot off or my differential fluid could have bled out and destroyed my rear end. Lesson learned!As a business, I admire that John and Jason employ staffers who are equally friendly and relaxed-professionals (or, professionally relaxed?). A quick shout-out to their receptionist Adam who helped me organize my appointment and arrange refurbished parts and parts under warranty to keep my costs low. Their apprentice grease monkey, Fletcher, was also awesome and gave me the low down on good Mexican food in Boulder.I was so grateful for the experience that I wanted to share it. I’ll say to anyone what my friend said to me – Just go to The Shop.
