Awesome guitar repair (better than expected), great service and communication, more than sufficient of a instrument repair shop. Would definitely recommend.
Wolf and his crew have consistently surpassed my expectations with the quality of their service and expertise with any musical instrument problem I have brought to them. I make my living performing and recording music from Boston - and tour up and down the East Coast - right now I would hesitate to take my guitars anywhere else for repair.
Phenomenal shop! Brought in an old MPC 60 purchased as if off ebay. Mike (one of their techs), did an amazing job fixing the unit, and, the price was more than fair. Nice to deal with responsive, pros for a change! Would highly recommend! A++
EXCELLENT WORK DONE FOR BETTER THAN LOW PRICE!!!ive had many guitars worked on by wolf and mike and ive all ways been very impressed by their workmanship. and the fees that they charge has got to be the lowest in boston. if you need work done to anything guitar/amp/keys, this is the place to bring it. youll more than pleased you did.GOOGLE WONT LET ME RATE THEM 10 STARS. BEYOND AWESOME!!!
Wolf is THE BEST guitar tech/luthier Ive had the pleasure of doing business with. Ive been dropping my guitars off to him since 1995. Rock solid work at fair rates.
Theyre the best!
This place is great! A buddy knocked over my GK bass amp head causing it to stop working. The folks here had it back to new in a couple weeks (needed parts shipped), and pricing was extremely reasonable. Highly recommend!
Ive had Wolf work on four or five guitars in the past few years. He is by far the best guitar tech Ive ever had. Thanks, Wolf. Rock on!
Incredibly disappointing. I tried to get my instrument repaired and after paying hundreds of dollars to get it fixed (and waiting for months), it was finally done. But after less than a year, the same problem arose again, and they wanted to charge me the same price to fix the problem. But after I complained, they said they would speak to the manager and get back to me. But after 2 weeks of waiting, I got fed up and asked for it back, only to find the electronics ripped open and the problem worse than before. I am sending it to another repair shop right now for a full diagnosis, but I would definitely not recommend this place until they get more competent with their repairs and (more importantly) they start to respect their customers.
Do they call themselves Services??? This place is a completely scamI took my amp to that store because the distortion wasnt working. My amp wasnt with dents or scratches. They told me that they cant fixed, and they returned my amp in very bad shape with a lot of scratches. Also, they charged me 20$ for do anything. I will put less that one start, but this system rating doesnt get me to do this. Very disappointed!!
Wolf has greatly taken care of my guitar. From my experience he is the best around here. Never had any dissapointments and i dont think i will. Great service.
I dont trust anyone else....Wolf has worked on all my guitars..running total is about 5 setups, 5 re-frets, 3 pickup swaps. One guitar I gave him had serious neck issues..i brought it in for a pickup swap..and he told me how out of kilter the neck was, i had no idea, well naturally he fixed the problem as best he could..and now that guitar is my main instrument. He transformed it from a guitar I had to fight to play to a beautifully passive instrument (guitar players, you know what i mean). In addition, i once brought a BRAND NEW guitar to him for a setup..and he took a quick look at it and told me on the spot it had a factory flaw, and that i should consider telling the vendor and manufacturer..which I did and they replaced the instrument, no cost.I would never have known this if Wolf had not pointed it out. The fret jobs he does are excellent, and he does exactly what you want in a setup, just tell him and he will do it.The only drawback is that given the proximity to Berklee, he gets a LOT of business and therefore turnaround time can be quite a while..also parking is a serious challenge in that area.I recently had work done by another Luthier in the area to compare..and that other guy did the work fast, but charged $150 more than Wolf does, and he raised the action on my neck so high, I could barely play it!! My mistake. MISC gets ALL my business from now on, no need to look anywhere else!
Wolf has been working on my Guitars for years. The best who I have ever worked with!
It comes as a shock to me that there are negative reviews of Wolfs work or his accumen. I realize everyone has different experiences born of specific expectations and perceptions and will remain respectful of this; i can only attest to my cousin (30 yr customer) and Is supreme satisfaction with Wolfs attention to detail, the fairness of his pricing, and the promptness of the guitars completion. 3 different guitar techs -- each of them cocky and over-confident in their abilities -- couldnt perform a proper setup and accurately intonate a well-cared for vintage LP Standard. Upon returning to a friends studio, i plugged in and Wow! It has not played better since I took it off of the wall at the store I bought it from in 1989. All i can say is thank you, Wolf -- respect. So pleased was I with Wolfs work that I have since brought my very new S500 (which Wolf restored to the extremely fun workhorse that it was intended to be) and a heavily-modded The Paul which is not due back yet. Clearly, Wolf does exemplary work and he does so consistently -- as i have played other peoples instruments in addition to my own. Great repairman, doesnt hit you too hard in the pocket, returns your instrument promptly with a great attitude, and seems to have passion and an appreciation for new developments and innovations in the industry.UPDATE:do NOT take your amplifier here for service. Someone I know took their amp in to be serviced and when they got home it was doing everything that it was doing before they brought it in .. they also replaced the speaker with a nice Electro-Voice 12 in .. but it seems that it wasnt necessary .. my friend brought the amp back in in July .. and you would think that he would have some sort of priority in good faith but no they still have the amp. The guitar tech, Wolf, is a really great Tech but whoever does their amps has no moral compassUPDATEmy aforementioned friend took the amp back in September and called to check on its progress .. There was none and they assured him that they would call him when it was serviced. In January, he recd a call from the woman telling him to pick the amp up because it is taking up space (No mention of it being serviced) .. Lol .. Like it was HIS fault .. He is into this amp for over $700 and it is still doing the same thing that he brought it in for initially .. Im just glad the poor guy has it back in his possession ... Recently an amp that he purchased from Tony That was supposed to be fully functional and serviced which previously belonged to a customer that never paid them for the repair after many months just ceased to function. My friend ALMOST NEVER PLAYED IT.. I mean all it does is odd sounds. Quite simply, amp repair here es no bueno. If some customers have there amps properly serviced here, you are among the lucky or the Blessed. It is sad that this degree of consistent ineptitude affects Wolf by way of star rating. While i am wholly pleased with Wolfs work, amp repair is horrendous and this establishment is not simply Wolfs instrument repair. I sadly have to remove 1 star and a half from review .. It was 5 - Wolf is great.Further Update:My friend - whom often works away from home and doesnt use his equipment often - finally had time to kick his feet up, relax, sit down to play for an hour or two. About 15 minutes into his playing, his Marshall - serviced by Tony - died .. The sound fell completely apart. This poor guy brought in 2 Marshalls and a Mesa Boogie ... purchased a Mesa Boogie from MIRS .. And ALL FOUR are not functioning in anywhere NEAR a satisfactory manner - my right hand to God. As I mentioned, he almost never plays. I teased him about it all the time. Not only does he work away from home for many days at a time but he is also a procrastinator and doesnt take advantage of opportunities that he has to play. These apps have very little hours on them if they even have that. There is no good reason that 4 amps no son buenos!!! All his amps now have been taken to a very reputable, meticulous tube amp repair man, an i wish him well
Having worked with Wolf and Tony over 12 years, I would trust no one else to work on my Synthesizers, except Tony or myself. Wolf is simply the best luthier anywhere. Ive seen him build guitars and basses from scratch and I know that many of the Stars going through Boston stop by and rely on His expertise to fix or modify their Vintage Strats Les Pauls Teles and whatever else they bring. Tony is the best electronic tech period. I learned from the best and continue to carry the tradition of excellence. If the walls could talk!
This is the first time Ive ever reviewed something on the internet but I feel like my experience needs to be shared. So basically, Im sure Wolf is an experienced technician with common brands like Gibson and Fender but when it comes to custom and modern designs he may lack some knowledge about correct procedures. Moreover, he lacks care and respect for other peoples instruments which is a serious issue if you like to have your pride and joy returned in the same condition as it went. In my case, my John Petrucci Ernie Ball Music Man brought tears to my eyes when I saw the irreparable damage that was done to my nut through reckless string slot filing which not only was unnecessary and unwarranted but was obviously done with no understanding of Ernie Balls special compensated nut design. (Contrary to Wolfs statement to me beforehand that he had plenty of experience with the brand). The degree of damage done to the nut has given me no choice but to send my guitar back to the manufacturer and have the entire nut replaced at my own expense. I am not a happy customer and will definitely not be back at MISC.
Extremely helpful, friendly, and timely completion of the work
