A beautiful building and perfect place to learn some American history. The inside is shaped kinda like a church or courtroom and you can easily envision the founding fathers in full discussion. There are plenty of informational signs with maps, pictures and even some audio QR codes for listening on your phone. We spent 30 - 45 mins here. The same ticket is also valid for the Old State House right down the road which I would also recommend.

Has the reputation of being a happening place throughout early American history ... think of the famous tea party. Did not know the British had occupied and used it to keep and train horses. Totally disrespectful but kinda funny now in retrospect. The inside of the building is so beautiful it is difficult to imagine it filled with dirt and horse manure. Be prepared to do lots of reading when visiting this historic site. There is audio available if you have a smart phone and ear buds. I was short on time and did not get to read everything ... especially events concerning the modern period. Need to hunt for the information online.

The Old South Meeting House (US$6 per adult) is one of the important stops on the Freedom Trail in Boston. Built in 1729, this attraction offers a nice stop to see Georgian period architecture. We particularly liked the modest red brick facade and building steeple.Inside the Old South Meeting House, you can visit the meeting hall, where debates were heard regarding British taxation on the colonies as well as protests and outcries regarding the events of the infamous Boston Massacre.Within the main hall you can see pew boxes (two of which are original found on the sides of the hall) where parties would have sat and debated local affairs. There are also a collection of displays regarding social and political issues deliberated at the Old South Meeting Hall. These help provide context on events which took place here that lead to the American Revolution as well as shaping the country during its early days.Overall, a nice stop for those with interest in early American history. There is also a good gift shop in the basement of the Old South Meeting House, which find near the building exit.Note: At the Old South Meeting House, you can buy a combo ticket that includes entrance into the Old State House and the Paul Revere House, giving you a $3 savings compared to buying each ticket individually.

Historically beautiful interesting for adults, lame for children . Admission fee is reasonable . Pick one of the churches and visit our of the three. We visited all three and they all were the same . Look from outside at the other two. But the old north, church, Kings chapel, and old south meeting place interiors are pretty much the same. Yes each place has a different significants but inside they are alike. For a family on a budget one of the three is good enough for the interior.

A definite stop on the freedom trail. It is now a series of displays with an optional audio tour available on your smart device. The displays focus more on the Meeting Houses tradition of free speech extending well beyond the revolution and its importance to that period. If your expecting somebody rable rousing as an in-period Sam Adams, youll be disappointed, but its broader history is also worth some consideration. For the price, the history and the picture opportunities, it is well worth a brief visit.

Our first stop on the Freedom Trail! We were able to buy tickets for three of the official sites on the Freedom Trail here, which includes admission to Old South Meeting House, the Old State House, and Paul Reveres House. These tickets never expire, so you can save them and come back at another time if you want. The Old South Meeting House is a meeting house for the Puritans to worship. It was the largest building in Boston at the time, and it is most famous for being the organizing point for the Boston Tea Party on December 16, 1773. On that day, 5,000 colonists met at the Old South Meeting House to decide what to do with the taxable tea sitting at Griffins Wharf. After failing to have the tea sent back to England, Samuel Adams stated, This meeting can do nothing more to save the country. These words were rumored to be a secret signal to the Sons of Liberty to walk down to Griffin’s Wharf and dump the tea into the harbor, marking the start of the Boston Tea Party. As you can see, there is just so much history and colonial significance in this place! And the interior is really beautiful, especially since its arranged in the traditional New England meeting house style. This is definitely a must stop on the Freedom Trail.

One of my favorite museums in Boston. Ive walked the Freedom Trail a couple of times, and this was one of the highlights on both trips. A very nice way to spend a couple of hours.

You cant visit Boston to see History - without seeing the Old South Meeting House. My daughter and I visited on July 4 - we had already done the guided Freedom Walk, but went back to see inside the building. This is a very easy stop. There is an exhibit and an audio tour available for you. We instead just walked inside, sat down on a bench, and soaked up the atmosphere. If you try you can see the Colonists, hear the arguments. This site is included on the Go Boston Card.We stayed for about 10 minutes and that was perfect. I definitely recommend it.

It requires a QR scanner on your device so make sure you have one installed. Otherwise you will be doing a lot of reading. The recorded version nhelps bring the exhibit to life.

This is one of the great historical sites in Boston. Its now a museum, but once a year, on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, Old South Church, which is now located in an 1870s Italianate style sanctuary on Boylston Street (across from the Boston Public Library) returns to its original home for its Thanksgiving service - a very special occasion to look forward to on your calendar.Next year, Old South will be celebrating its 350th anniversary (not a typo!), so the Thanksgiving service should be all the more spectacular.
