Dr. Steven Sheiner is an excellent doctor especially for kids who have nearsightedness or myopia. He helps parents figure out how to deal with myopia in their child. If your childs vision is getting worse each year, call Dr. Sheiner.

I came in to pick up contact lenses last week and was informed in a very patronizing manner that my insurance would not cover my contacts. I knew this to be incorrect because Ive been ordering contacts online and have been in touch with my insurance company. But the receptionist (Christie I think her name is) would not have it and told me I am no longer on that insurance plan. She charged me $98 dollars for contacts that are covered by my insurance and the price should have been much lower. I left very upset thinking I didnt have health insurance because of what she said. I called my insurance company and I DO still have coverage until January. I wont ever come back because of this and its a shame because the doctor is really great.

We have built a strong personal and trusting relationship with Dr. Sheiner and the office staff, who are always kind and helpful. Going to Total Family Eyecare is always a good experience and Ive never even thought twice about changing my optometrist. In fact, I have left the state of Florida for school for the last 6 years, and in that time, have always managed to find the time to visit both my family at home and my family at Total Family Eyecare.

What a friendly office! From the time we made our appointments to our visit we were more than pleased! Dr. Sheiner got to the bottom of a problem I was having in my eye very quickly, and had my eye healed in no time!! My kids starting going after that, and they both only have great things to say about Dr. Sheiner! The office was able to repair my son’s glasses when he was in town just for one weekend! We won’t go anywhere else for Eye care anymore!! Thank you Total Family Eyecare for such positive experiences!

Buyer beware. This is one of the most unethical practices I have come across in decades. Be prepared to be quoted one price for an emergency visit and at check out be presented with additional billing codes for things you never saw with your own eyes or consented to. My daughter came to this practice as a self pay client and I was told that the visit would be $90. Not $90++ or starting at $90. Only at checkout was I told that the charges were $170 and when I asked why, I was told the doctor removed a foreign body from her eye, yes the doctor did but it was an eyelash floating around and never once did he even show us the alleged eyelash. $80 additional dollars to remove an eyelash? Every other Eye doctor I have spoken to said this was not only insane, but illegal. I have since watched this office make false claims with changing billing codes to meet the the dispute I have initiated. I am very disappointed that this is common practice at Total Family Eyecare and truly feel sorry for those who dont have the ability to advocate for these types of unscrupulous practices the way I do. I will be letting out entire community know what happened here and a grateful to have discovered a more ethical Eye Doctor right in the same shopping center.

I have been going to Dr. Sheiner for 5 years and have never had a bad experience. A few months ago I had an eye emergency and Dr. Sheiner and his staff fit me in on the same day to see him. Super nice people and ive never had to wait for more than 10 minutes in the waiting room.

This is exactly what happened I went and got my eyes checked and an eye exam for new glasses. Scheiner left and could not read the results of the machine in depth exam. I was told they would call on Monday with that result. I was also told by the doctor my vision had improved. Ok so I will get the lenses changed. Great right? Ok so I left my old pair to change the lenses to exactly the tint. Got them back -- no tint- I gave them a try and the vision was all cross eyed. I went back, Go another exam. I was told by the girl that my eye exam showed nothing wrong. Got a check on the eye exam and Wow would you believe it my eyes had gotten even better. Ok so they sent the glasses back to the lab with the old ones to match the tint. Ok got them back - now I have sunglasses and still cross eyed. They decided to measure- no not before - The used the old measurements from 2 years ago. So they gave me a full refund to start over elsewhere. Oh and by the way my nothing wrong turned to cataracts forming in both eyes and dry eyes according to the doctor. I just give the facts You decide. PS he got the insurance payment anyways. I was told that it is just not possible to get the tint I wanted. I guess it is no tint or sunglasses. Darned if I know. Never had issues like this before. Very very nice man and equally nice staff. But, I wanted glasses not friends.
