Paid for a textbook, it ended up being on back order so I never received it. But the bookstore kept my money. Felt robbed. Just use Amazon.

Terrible place to buy textbooks. Many classes require a textbook that is only sold at this store. It is known well before the year starts how many people need which textbook. Yet every year, the first week of class rolls by, and they are out of stock. The customer service and website experience is also terrible.

Barbra is absolutely atrocious. Not even half an hour into me being here she yelled and rolled her eyes at me because I asked her a simple question. Next day I went to class and a few of my friends actually knew her and they said she’s incredibly rude and condescending. Never going here again all because of Barbra Biddle.

Since being a student at IU, for buying textbooks, Ive always given this place first priority and if they had it in stock, Id buy it. That said, if they do not and there is a delay in getting the book for class, I do tend to buy them on Amazon. I have shopped here for small things like envelopes and I am grateful they had them in stock. It was a great price and great when I was in a bit of a bind to have something to provide my professors with for requests of letters of recommendation.

Incredibly inaccessible. There is an elevator to get between floors in the bookstore, but many of the staff will tell you there isnt, its often hidden behind displays in the store, and you need a manager to work the elevator for you. There also werent any carts that I saw, so if you have trouble carrying things in your arms, youre SOL. The line to pay often extends all the way through the store, sometimes even going up stairs, so again, disabled students beware. I gave up on the bookstore after my first semester at IU & just accepted that I would have to pay for shipping for getting all my books online – always nice to be charged extra fees just for being disabled, isnt it?

The IU Bookstore just lost my business when the employee started yelling Ive been doing this job for 3 years, I know what Im doing!!. Additionally, I informed her the phone number I was directed to call via email was incorrect. She told me that wasnt her problem. I would recommend Chegg. They always have the books, never on back order like the IMU.

Expensive. Does not prominently display that bursar billing cannot be done in-store - talk about wasted time... AND extra busywork for employees to reshelve all that. Im not sure if traditional students get that information elsewhere but I got it at the counter on the first day back on campus... facing an hour and a half commute is bad enough without wasting extra time preventably.

I always had a problem when returning books. I would sometimes not need certain books and at the end of the semester, they’d tell me that I was missing the books that I canceled the orders for. Once they gave me a water damaged book and then charged me full price for the damaged book when that was the condition I received it in. By all means, try to get your books elsewhere or you’ll pay a high price.

Review №34

Not really an IU bookstore. Its owned by Barnes and Noble. Everything here is overpriced, especially textbooks. Its true they have all the textbooks that you will need if youre an IU student, but you can find them on the web for a much lower price. Renting a used book here is even more expensive than buying a second-hand book and they will try whatever they can to refuse to take back the books that you rent because of damages, so that they can charge you a ridiculous amount to replace the book. DO NOT buy or rent your books here!

Wanted to buy a book as a gift to a friend, asked the cashier about the return policies, and got lectured on how returning a book for refund equals taking advantage of the bookstore. Convenient location though.

Review №38

Organized, had every book I needed-also had a sign that said up to 80% off, but honestly I don’t think anything there was priced at a normal retail value where you would pay regular price so, I’d like to see where I would save 80% on my books.
