Zi Tam was awesome and super great at answering my questions about my very first tattoo. It came out perfect and I couldnt be happier with the result.Id love to travel back from out of state to work with him again.Edit: a month after my visit and I wish I could leave ten stars. Im looking forward to an excuse to travel from out of state to visit again.

Got my belly button pierced by Lily today and it went so easy and smooth, she was super nice too!

Went in a while ago, and got some filler pieces done. Was priced at 70$ per quarter sized flower, and got seven of them, which I thought was steep but I paid with no complaints. 2 of them didn’t heal correctly so after a couple weeks I reached out to the guy who had done them to ask For a touch up. Usually reputable shops do them for free, and I have even paid before for touch ups. I just wanted it done. He left me on read. I would have been happy with a no.Second time I called about getting something behind my ears done. Again super small - when I called ahead they quoted me at 280 for what I wanted( two half dollar sized playboy bunny tattoos behind my ears). I asked the gentleman on the line why it was so expensive, and he just said it was shop minimum. I understand every shop has a different minimum, but for what I was wanting that was outrageous. I went to another shop and got the same size (different design) for a more fair price considering the placement, detail and size.

Zi is amazing and his work is fantastic. He actually takes his time and makes sure you love what youre getting. You dont feel hurried. The shop is clean and everything is comfortable.

Pricey. $60 for a nose piercing that I could have gotten done for $25 @ one of several other places. Shop around.Having said that, the staff was very friendly.

Zi was very cool and did an awesome job on my little wizard frog tatt this afternoon :) Im not sure what some people are even complaining about with the prices it was very reasonable, heck I expected to spend more than I did. Just keep in mind hes a pro whos been at this for a while, he knows what hes doing and he knows what his time and experties are worth

Tried Genuine Tattoo at the age of 17 (underage) and brought a parent with me as Indiana law states. The man working shared a story about receiving a tattoo at 13 without a parent’s consent and laughed in my face when I inquired about it. Not a very professional way to run a business in my humble opinion.

My friend and I went in and got TINY tattoos. I went inside first and asked about the price while showing the picture of what we wanted. I understand that shops have a minimum but his website does not list one anywhere on it. The tattoos can be covered with a quarter they’re so small. They are not very detailed. Just simple little birds that are black. He said “yeah, I can do that for $100.” Okay, cool. Sounds reasonable. We finished them. They took 7 minutes each tops. When we went to pay he said “That’ll be $200!” 😳 I clearly did not hear him say he could do it for $100 EACH. Who in their right mind would pay $100 for a tattoo that is so small. I have an appointment this week for one that will cover my whole forearm that is only $175 and has much more detail. He got super rude with me when I questioned the price and said he told me his minimum was $100. No he did not. He told me he could do it for $100. Those are two very different statements. If his minimum is $100 he needs to update his website but I don’t feel like he will cause he’ll get a lot less business. In all actuality, I don’t believe that’s his minimum. I think he took advantage of us and knew there was nothing we could do but pay it. He completely ruined our special experience.

Shannon did an awesome job on my tattoo. He is a true artist! I highly recommend if you want to have a tattoo or a piercing done to have it done at Genuine Tattoo. They are the best.

There is an individual who works here that was so mean to me the ONE time I’ve gone in here. I even have friends who know of him & they agree his is very rude. He talks down to me like I’m a child. I didn’t give him one reason to act the way he did towards me. I mean, he was cussing at me & everything. I don’t care how long you’ve been tattooing for, that is not an excuse to be malicious towards someone. Good luck. Whenever someone asks me about tattoos & piercings in the area I always go “go here (anonymous tattoo company) not Genuine Tattoo.”

A couple months ago, I went with a friend to Genuine to get her tattoo- it was later in the evening (around 9) and Dave was willing to stay to work on her. He spent several hours drawing her design and making sure it was what she wanted (she came in with several pictures to work from). His work was extremely professional but he was also amiable and funny. I went in myself a few days later to have Dave start what will eventually be a sleeve- this first one went on the inside of my wrist. Again, I came in with a picture of what I wanted and Dave did a great job with it. This was my fourth tattoo but my first with an artist besides the one who did my other three, and I will definitely be going back. Thanks, Dave!

I have been tattooed here before. Art was decent. Came in with a friend. We were told it would be about a 2 hour wait. We waited for over 2 and a half hours and they were still going be a couple more hours. Only one artist there. We ended up leaving without getting the tattoo.

I got a tattoo done there about 10 years ago. It still looks great. I went there a couple days ago for piercings. I got a double conch and they changed out my triple helix. Jen was really nice and did a great job. Since my helix was done only 6weeks before with a gun it was really irritated. I went back in and Z fixed me up. My ear is now looking much better! Thank you Jen and Z, I will be back!

Such a good and positive experience getting my conch pierced. My piercer was super kind and helpful. He talked. Me through the cleaning process beforehand and they even gave me a bottle of soap for the piercing. He was super nice throughout the whole process. The place also just gave off good vibes right when you walk in, and have a great selection of expressive art for you body. Definitley recommend this place.

I went in to have my septum pierced and had an amazing experience! The staff was friendly and the piercer (whose name I cant remember ):) was very sweet and accommodating. Im a wuss so I had a lot of questions about everything, and she answered every question I had very sweetly and calmly. Everything was very sanitary and I was given instructions on how to clean my piercing as well as a bottle of cleaner. Very lovely place with sweet people!

I was extremely nervous to get my nipples pierced but the girl working was so educated and very sweet and friendly. She made sure to explicitly tell me how to care for the piercing and gave me a pamphlet explaining as well. During the piercings she talked to me and made me feel very comfortable, explained exactly what she was going to do and made sure the marks were symmetrical. She asked me what I preferred for her to say when she did it. It was a good price for a quality piercing and piercer. Loved her and I love my piercings as well!! Definitely reccomend.

I went to Genuine Tattoo today to get a small tattoo behind my ear, and I am so pleased with the result! Everyone was very welcoming, and I was extremely comfortable. The service was great, and I was in and out within half an hour. I would highly suggest this place to anyone. Ask for Dave! He did a fantastic job.

Shannon did my tattoo about a year ago. I came in with 3 friends and he did a great job. Most recently, I got my nose pierced by Zi. He did a fantastic job and made me feel really comfortable! The shop is very clean; Zi wiped everything down and showed me how everything was sterilized. I also love how they give you a pamphlet for aftercare that tells you exactly how to care for your new piercing or tattoo. Highly recommend if you are looking for a quality piercing or tattoo!

Little blues is way more professional and 100 times more clean. My sister just got an amazing tattoo from Pnut. Also way more friendly than the guy at genuine tattoo.

Shannon is the best! This was my first tattoo he explained everything to me from set up to aftercare. He showed me that the equipment used for the tattoo was sterilized and really put my mind at ease. If you go here he will be the only artist you will go to again. Had a great experience receiving two tattoos on March 9, 2013. Dave had done my daughters tattoo a couple of years ago and did a wonderful job, so we were glad to find him at the shop we had Googled. I would recommend Dave and Genuine Tattoo Co for anyone who is looking for an experienced tattoo artist do their tattoos.

Went in and the older gentalman working there was very rude and short to me and my friends. And was going to charge us 200$ for a 2”2” tattoo. We left and went to time and tide who where way better at accommodating us. I thought genuine would be a good place with good prices but I was wrong.

Z (Zee? Zi?) is awesome. Very calm, and knows what hes doing. Bring a friend in case you pass out. It can be the difference between wasting your money and Z saving your piercing like the pro he is.Very careful, clean, and inviting. Z will give you a warm welcome and make you feel as comfortable as possible during your procedure.

The people here are absolutely wonderful and understanding! I came here with an industrial piercing I had gotten somewhere else that was going downhill very quickly, and they changed it out and put in new jewelry for me! Since they helped me, I havent felt any pain from it. Im very grateful, and I highly recommend this place!

I got my nose pierced and got my first tattoo by Zi, and I was very happy with my experience! Zi is really awesome, and good at understanding that tattoos and piercings need a lot of time and thought before pulling the trigger. Zi was great to work with, and I really appreciated his patience and skill. He made me very comfortable for my first tattoo. The artists have their own styles (as all artists do), and even if they dont have their personal art work in the shop its more than accessible online.Later, I was shopping around for my next tattoo, and I wanted to find an artist who knew the specific subject matter. Shannon was there and before I was done trying to explain what I was looking for he asked me if I wanted it good and wanted it cheap - I answered yes and no, respectively. He told me he would be my artist, but I declined. I finished describing what I was looking for, and he seemed put off, saying that it sounded like I just wanted Zi (which was slightly true - I went in fairly certain that Zi would be more likely to be familiar with what I wanted, and Id worked with him before, so I would have been happy to work with him again). This interaction was odd, because before coming in the first time Id called and spoken with him on the phone - he was very nice and helped me understand the process for a first time tattoo.Genuine is a fine place to go - they have good policies (like not tattooing minors, which is clearly stated on their website), and theyre good at what they do. They do well with sanitization, talking you through what theyre doing, and give you good instructions on keeping your tattoo clean. Their pricing matches the quality of the tattoos, which are both fairly high. However, I believe the owners responses to reviews are a fairly good representation of what youll experience from him in the shop.

My best friend and I came in to get tattoos - it was my first and her birthday. It was an extremely wonderful experience, and Zi (the artist who gave us our tattoos) was very friendly, comfortable to be around and professional. He took a design I liked and made it even better, then did the tattoo exactly the way I wanted it to look. I couldnt be happier with the results! I am rating this tattoo shop 3 stars because of the following.Quoting a price- When asked how much a piece of flash off the wall of their shop would be you are answered with a Im not going to price it and shouldnt matter how much it costs if you want it. that statement is true to an extent but while some may charge $250 for 4X4 flash some could charge $500 for the same piece of flash.Portfolio- Nothing in the shop shows any of the finished work that Zi has done. without an idea as to what the finished product is how is a customer able to make an educated decision on the purchase of their new tattoo.My brother got a tattoo here while I decided against it. Zi did a good job on tracing my brothers own drawing.PLEASE fix this

I went here for my first tattoo, Patrick was my tattoo artist. I was extremely nervous considering this was my first. However, Patrick took his time and did a great job. I will definitely be coming back to Genuine Tattoo for my future ink. I highly recommend the shop and Patrick! Hes funny, professional, and does a great job!

I would recommend to anyone wanting to get something done in Bloomington to go here. Even if the price is higher than other places, I didnt mind at all paying more for my piercing I had done this past weekend. They were professional but laid back, answering all of my questions multiple times and making me feel plenty at ease! Im sure I will return in the future and recommend to everyone I know because I couldnt be happier with their work!

Tattooing on hands and feet does NOT hold pigment as well as other parts of the body and takes more time and effort to properly heal. there will be a fee charged for any touch ups.this is the warning on the release form, which every customer must sign and acknowledge before getting their tattoo. this is not a situation that arises often but when it does more often than not it is not that the customer is upset with the way the tattoo healed but with having to pay a fee for the tattoo needing touched up. you can read more about this in our FAQ section of our web site. please do your research and educate yourself on the topic before you get tattooed in these areas so we can avoid any situations such as this.

Im pretty sure they tried to rip me off. They told me $250 for a 4 inch bass clef tattoo and I got the same tattoo at Time and Tide for $100. Pretty sure they were taking advantage of the fact that Id never gotten a tattoo before.

Genuinly helpful staff! My girlfriend got her nose piercing here and the staff were friendly and professional. We were helped on two separate occasions by two different people and had a great experience both times.

Had my cartilage done here a few days ago. The lady was super laid back and so so nice. She made me feel comfortable because it was obvious she knew what she was doing. She went through the whole process step by step and made sure I was okay with everything. She was so patient even though I was a bit nervous. They also give you a really great soap to clean the piercing with afterwards, free of charge, and make sure you really know how to take care of everything. Would totally go back!

My two friends had never gotten piercings before, so I was really glad when we started talking with Zi! I had to get a nose piercing redone, the owner was very friendly. he walked me through the after care information (evil by the needle failed to ever give me). as i was about to get pierced, he was showing me that the instruments he was going to use were clean and sterilized. i feel comfortable with the job he has done. i definitely would recommend to anyone and everyone! Evil by the needle may be cheaper, but they dont do as well of a job as they do here!thanks for the free shirt!

Customer service is the paramount of a successful business. I simply had come here to get jewelry for my piercing and the owner was extremely rude and nasty towards me. If I could give 0 stars I would. I will never come here or recommend this place to anyone who needs to get work done.

Good piercing here but don’t come for a tattoo. Overpriced and they justify it by saying “quality costs more” which could be true but they don’t even do that great of a job. Friend of mine got a tattoo there and the owner had a gun on the table the entire time. Go to time and tide.

My wife and I both have very small/easy tattoos from here. Took like 15 minutes, but they treated us well, took time to explain things, and concentrated on it as if it were something more complicated than it is. Im not a tattoo person, but if I get another, Id go back to Genuine.

Ive gotten piercings at this place twice now. Both were wonderful experiences. The staff are really friendly and answer any questions you may have. They acknowledge you the moment youre in the door and help you immediately or if theyre busy let you know theyll get to you ASAP. I got my tongue repierced there July of 2017. I let her know the troubles I had with it the 1st time, she listened to what I had to say, gave suggestions on what she could do differently, looked in my mouth and at my tongue for a few mins deciding how she could best help me not have problems this time around, and Ive had this piercing 4 times as long as the 1st time with no issues whatsoever. The most recent piercings are my nipples Ive had them done for about a month now, again the piercer answered any and all questions I had and made me feel super comfortable about what was going on. There were 3 people including myself getting piercings at that time, he had us gather around and went through the aftercare processes we would each have to do. Again I have had absolutely no problems with the piercings and I will definitely be going back for any other piercings I get.

Genuine is a great shop - the only shop my husband and I will use in Bloomington. All the artists are great. Zanna is AMAZING. She did a large arm piece for me and I cant leave my house without getting mad compliments. If youre looking for high quality work worth every dollar you gotta go see them before you make a permanent mistake somewhere else!

Awful place, went in with the brother, mom, and step dad to get a tattoo and he said no because brother was 17. Even though he has parent consent. Guy said, “I don’t take 17 year olds, especially ones who bring there mommy’s with them.” Just awful experience! Thank you for not helping, we will be going to the next tattoo parlor and spending our money elsewhere.
