I had a vehicle booked well over a week ago for an out of state move. Got a call today that they dont have a vehicle in the area even though we paid in advance. Would have to drive 2 hours each way just to pick up a vehicle and offered no discount for the inconvenience. Canceled my reservation and booked with another company. Would never book with them again.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I was desperate for a u-haul to move our belongings. I arrived at U-haul 10 mins prior to them closing and the gentleman behind the counter REFUSED to rent me a u-haul. Then very rudely locked the door. I dont quite understand why I was treated this way. I will never ever go back. Very rude.

I havent even gotten my truck yet and can say that this will be the last time I EVER use uhaul! I have sat on the phone waiting for people to answer it 30+ minutes 3 times in a week, but when I go in when I am tired of waiting on the phone for someone to even acknowledge me, they are sitting at the desk with no customers and no phones ringing. Then, a gentleman there reserved my truck for me 2 weeks in advance (not me going online, one of the actual employees made the reservation and promise for me), but I get a call 2 days later that they probably wont have a truck for me and that I will have to drive and get it from another location. I dont hear anything back, so after calling with the same issues as above, I go in to the store and Colton says the same thing. When I explain that they made the reservation for me and that I dont have the time leeway to go drive and get it, could they, please, have it delivered- he just states we dont offer that service. Really?! You guys make a reservation for me and promise to have the requested truck available, but then say two days later that you wont, and it is MY responsibility to go and drive hours to pick it up?! And they cant even tell me when and where until they DAY BEFORE my reservation day, not even a few days advance notice. And the only thing they offer is more miles and days for my trouble?! They didnt even apologize for the inconvience. This is poor customer service award material here folks. They dont care about helping you out, they dont fulfill their promises, and they are very unprofessional. If I had another company I could go to, I would.

I was told my bill was going to be a little over $66 when I checked my American Express they had added on $25 without contacting me or letting me know what it was about. I’ve tried for three days to get through to them there’s always a 52 to 58 minute wait without an option for a call back

We picked up a trailer from uhaul on interstate ave in Bismarck ND for a one way trip to Austin, TX not realizing the paperwork somehow had us dropping it off back in Bismarck. Now in order for us to leave it here in Austin they want to charge us $1,000. We’ve been trying to call he Bismarck location for 2 days without success.unbelievable on top of that, I can’t share this post without giving at least a 1 star rating. This place isn’t worth even a zero rating. Pathetic.

I had a vehicle reserved and confirmed that I need for work. The vehicle is not back yet and I was informed my only option was to call Customer Sevice and try to find one at a different location, as the designated U-Haul didnt have any other vehicles left. This is impacting my entire day and will most likely affect my gig in Minot. Everything was reserved and paid for, I am completely dependent on a vehicle I cannot use.

I went there to pick up a car dolly to drive a vehicle to Florida. The gentleman there Colton was a huge help explaining things to me about the trailer to keep my mind at ease. I was glad he was there.

Kyle and the team at the Bismarck Hitch Super Center were fantastic. Extremely professional and quick to communicate problems they foresaw as well as offer solutions based on my needs not their tiller. I would highly recommend this U-Haul.Our Hitch installation went off...without a hitch :). Actually they did run into an issue with my Acuras design but were very informative of the bolt changes they were accomplishing and why (not load bearing in any way)... they even removed the labor fee for the extra time it took them (which was not their fault). Thanks again Kyle and team, another great U-Haul experience!

I have sat on the phone for over 20 minutes, twice, waiting for somebody to answer the phone to make a reservation. I might sound ignorant here, but I will not use this U-Haul location for this reason. An employee should be able to answer a phone to say SOMETHING within two twenty minute calls. I could almost recite their automated hold playback. Not impressed.

The store was clean and organized. Owner/GM runs a nice store. Equipment was clean, great shape and new tires. Very happy with that. The workers at the Bismarck store were very rude every time I’ve been in that store. Only reason I go back is b/c they have clean well maintained equipment. They need to be educated/trained in customer service. I’m sure they turn other people off to where they might not use them again. Otherwise great store. This is the reason I give them an average service.

Terrible experiance. rented a truck for a six hour move. showed up for pickup and would not let me take it because of computer issues with checking out a rental. came in from out of town with no advanced warning of this issue which i gathered from the conversations between emoyees they were also having the day before. hard to believe and understand how a large company like this has to almost completely shut down becaue they are incabable of doing things manual to accomidate their costomers for a daily rental .

We received an email at 11:30pm the night before pickup that our reserved 26 truck would not be available until 3:30 PM. We had it reserved for 7:00 AM and rented a hotel room in town the night before! We were beyond stressed and it didnt help that nobody at the business would answer the phone we just kept being forwarded to the call center, who again kept pushing the issue on to someone else. I bet I spoke with 10 people just to find out that, all though we reserved the truck, it was still subject to availability and it allegedly says that in the disclaimer. Thankfully we got a call at 9 AM that our truck was ready and we were able to get everything done in one day.

Had a trailer hitch installed, was told it would be done in a couple of hours by a very impolite woman. I walk to a cafe about a mile away to kill the time and when a couple of hours goes past and I didnt get a call, I call the number on their website, was put on hold for at least 15 minutes so I gave up and decided to just walk back.The same woman looked exasperated when she saw us, as if we were a HUGE inconvenience to her day. When I asked her how long the installation was going to take, she shrugged her shoulders and said I dont know, and did not offer to check with the guys doing the actual installation. When I asked if she could PLEASE check with the guys (as if a customer has to beg for this to happen), she let out a huge sigh. At this time, I was visibly upset and shaking my head to express my displeasure, but this woman did not have service recovery abilities at all! She either needs to shape up or find another job that she loves, OR U-Haul can actually hire someone who cares about CUSTOMER SERVICE rather than pluck some random, disillusioned person to work in such a frontline position.I dont care how busy you are, a little empathy and customer service goes a long way and for sure if she only was apologetic and more accommodating I would not have given this place 1 star.The guy who helped install my trailer hitch, Kyle, was amazing though. He was very friendly and helpful and made me feel valued as a customer. He came out to update us about how long the installation was going to take. The older gentleman who also helped install the hitch, was very friendly, albeit our interaction was only for a short while, he made me feel valued too. I wouldnt come back to U-Haul if not for those two people.

We had a uhaul rented that I paid for to pick up in Dickinson and drop off in Fargo. 3 days before I get a call telling me there is no trailer and I would have to drive to Bismarck to pick it up. Absolutely terrible service, why when I book it online wouldnt you tell me at that time that there in no availibility. The person calling me was so rude. I ended up cancelling and I will never use uhaul again. Made my weekend hectic, I had to scramble and borrow a trailer. If I treated my customers the way uhaul treated me, I wouldnt have any.

Rented a truck and car tow trailer. Car tow trailer broke down as the wheel bearings went out on one wheel and just broke lose from trailer ... hub and wheel. Got back to Bismarck ended up talking to manager and he couldnt care less about my experience. (I did get a small credit back) While talking to him he actually thought it kind of funny I was so upset with this preventable situation. He did tell me there is no maintenance schedule for these trailers but that they do check the ratchet straps, tire pressure and hitch etc. before they send out a trailer. Other than that he said its not up to them to check or worry about wheel bearings etc. so if you rent out a trailer from them you are doing it at your own risk.

I dont know what u people think. but I think the works in the Bismarck uhaul is the best at there job they tell u the truth about the equipment and they also send u a picture of there equipment. To make Comparison before u drive it away. Showing that they know what goes on with their equipment. And that also get u on your way faster.

The woman who helped us was unnecessarily rude and we seemed to be inconvenienced by our presence. (Literally no other customers there btw) She said to go check the other u haul carriers. Come to find out she could’ve searched the database to find the exact store/location that had the one we needed. Apparently she couldn’t be bothered with that.

Moved on 10/17/16. Liz is the general manager and she has excellent customer service skills. Price matched Penskes truck rental saving us $$$, upgraded us to a 26 truck because a 22 wasnt available at no additional cost, received a newer truck and at all times I felt like a valued customer. Plus this location is open on Sunday. Thank you!!

We rented a van for 1 hour and 8 minutes. There was no walk around done before or after and it should have been about $44. There was a transaction on our bank for way more than that and when we called to inquire was told there was damage of a light and paint scratches. We asked to see the damage or for pictures and were told that there were none available and they could not call a manager because he was on vacation. The service was horrible and very not professional. We know there was no damage because we moved 1 small item that was wrapped and place on top of cardboard. Beware of bad business practice.

I have always had great customer service with the Bismarck Uhaul. When my mom died they only had one truck left that was already spoken for and they let me rent it as long as i assured them it would be back in time for the people that hadreserved it.Sometimes its about how you treat them that makes them how they treat you.

Sunday July 20, 2014Go to another U-Haul dealer. This place has absolutely horrible customer service. The two employees who were standing around talking at the counter left when I entered the building and used the rest room. (traveling) So when I found one to help me, Both helped me, the phone was ringing and they were telling the phone to...in so many words. Stop ringing. Then one answered the phone. I had to haul two street bikes a 650cc and a 1500cc. I was given a 6x12 enclosed trailer, charged $99.60 to my card and told it will work. When my son tried to load the smaller of the two bikes 450 lbs. the floor started creaking. We checked the trailer weight and were unsure if this would carry two bikes 300 miles to Fargo, ND, a one way trip.I called U-Hauls 800 number and the gal told me to take it back and the store would credit my card the next day when everyone came back to work and update store inventory. She said they always get things back as unusable. I had her make a note that I was given this advice.Two days later, I see that my card has not been credited. I also see that the store has charged me an extra 10.50!!! I call the store and they do not answer. Of Course, remember They didnt answer the phone when I was there either. So my call got transferred to the 800 number again. This lady said her wrote a note to this store to call me back and solve the issue and return my $$ including the 10.50 charge...................Im still waiting for this U-Haul store to call me back.

Had a storage locker and gave them the card and instructed them to use this card to pay on the locker. So why did I get charged a late fee for not paying on time when they had my card from the start? Then calling and trying to deal with this situation was like trying to get Cats to meow in a symphony concert together! They act like they hate being at work and helping you. They have no social skills what-so-ever, but thats typical of North Dakotans. Certainly, for your piece of mind and money, stay away from this dump!

My worst experience ever from any business. I had a problem and this branch refused to talk to me. I called U-Hauls main number and they did nothing. If you have any problems with U-Haul, dont expect them to help. If it regards a financial matter be prepared for extortion that would make the mafia proud.

Horrible!!!! I have had the worst customer service I have ever had anywhere in my life! I called nearly a month in advance to make my reservation. I then called a week prior to be sure that they still had the trailer that I needed, they said yes. I get a call the day before I am supposed to pick up the trailer informing me that they dont have the trailer that I reserved well in advance and that the nearest one is 2.5 hours away! I was also told by the manager that I should understand what is going on because I am from here. Well actually I am not from here and that has nothing to do with my situation or my rental. Dont let the automated message informing you that your call is being recorded so that they can keep their promises fool you, its a lie!!!

Only problem I had was uhal said this location had a trailer but when we got there it wasnt there they asked if I had a reservation I told them I can make one if they want because the option still shows up as available. Austin I think his name was ( stared with an A at least ) went out of his way to get us one so we could finish up. The other guy with a mowhalk took forever to bring it though we waited over half hour.

Worst customer service Ive ever experienced in my life.. the manager Kyle is so unuseful and refused to help his customers while he stood there laughing.. he should not have a job in customer service and obviously his own employees follow his lead bc out of 5 employees only one of them was willing to help.. its sad that were paying uhaul a good amount of money and a manager refuses to give us the help we deserve while driving across county.. very sad!

The hipster looking idiot that hooked up my trailer didnt hook up the security chains correctly so one of them broke in half while on the road 😡...Thank god for a good guy passing by that helped me and hooked the remaining chains right. The two guys or I should say children behind the counter need to know what customer service is and not eat while I stood there for 10 min then just for them to tell me that there are no trucks available when there was 7 or 8 of them in the lot!!! Chris is literally the most rude and disrespectful individual I have ever met in my life. He is unaware on how to do is job and unwilling to help fix the problem. He said to us I dont know, I dont work in Fargo. Youll have to call and ask them.This is only the most recent problem with this individual. However the last four times here have been something along the lines of this. I am unaware how he has a job still because there is no way no one else has complained. Wont use u haul again.

I dont advise anyone to use this branch. I set everything up for one U-Box over phone and online. Was told everything was set and to come in and load our box. When my husband and brother went to load the box, the staff member did not write down any info about the box we were to load, did not take any info for that matter. Told us we had to pay $60 for first months storage and said we would get it all e-mailed to us. Turns out, they have NONTHING ABOUT US ON FILE. They took our stuff and cash. Never receved an e-mail, phone call, nothing. When we called them, they say we were never there. We lost everything....

Wont be going back to this place. I found two of the employees to be rather surly and short with their help. They seemed annoyed by having to deal with customers. They also completely avoided eye contact.I drove the 14 foot truck 12 miles total, and had to fill up 7 gallons worth of gas. That is less than 2 MPG. Theres no way that the truck had a full tank when I got it. I asked them multiple times about this and they said they didnt know the MPG.Looking online I should have got between 7-10 with a full truck. Basically, I had to pay over $15 more than I should have. Theres no way Im going back to that one. Avoid like the plague..

Renter beware!!! Reservations mean NOTHING to this U-Haul. I was notified less than 24 hours before scheduled to move across country that my truck would not be available even though I had reserved FOUR WEEKS earlier. Staff was extremely rude!!!! No aplology and offered nothing to make it right. AVOID!!!

Ive been forced to rent from this U-Haul because all other van rental places either dont exist, or charge wayyyy to much. Unfortunately, the people at this U-Haul are not the brightest bunch They dont explain things very well, and I even got hung up on by one of the gentlemen working there after he called me! Very frustrating to work with these guys. As everyone else has said.. at all costs, dont do business here.
