I absolutely love how organized and thorough the team at UAB Eye Care are! The optical clinics staff are there to assist you with making the best choice for glasses. They are all very polite and make your experience a pleasant one.

I had an appointment with Zachary Reynard, O.D.. He was probably the most personable doctor I have ever had to deal with. Very friendly and had zero issue answering my ever growing list of questions over the 2 hours I spent in his care that day. I left satisfied and convinced that what he was trying to do would benefit me greatly. I had little involvement with other staff except for a year 3 student, although she was a pleasure to speak with as well. I cannot say for sure you will have the same experience as I did due to my limited exposure, but I can say 100% I will be going back from now on.

This is a review of the optometry shop inside the eye care. I had terrible experience with it. I gave my own frame for a pair of progressive glasses. They gave me a different frame today telling that’s my prescription. That too after three weeks. Now i am worried that they lost my very expensive silhouette frame. Absolutely terrible place. Go somewhere else.Update: Oct 14. Its been over a month now and I have not received my glasses yet. Absolutely terrible experience.

I’ve been waiting for a replacement of my glasses frame since August the 5th. It is now November 5th and they still don’t have my glasses. I’ve called several times and even left a voicemail for the manager who was on vacation and I never received a call back. Thai is my last time coming here.

Our optomolgist was extremely kind knowledgeable and had a sense of humor. She made going to the eye doctor fun for my kids.We will definitely be returning to this Eye Care center.

I really love the service I get at UAB Eye Care! They are an awesome team and I really trust them with the health of my eyes. Students are impressive in their knowledge and exams are verified by attending providers - I have seen several over the past couple of years and have been very happy with their attention plus they have the latest state-of-the-art equipment and only use gold standards for testing. Visits are not quick, but they are extremely thorough.

Ive used UAB eye care for yrs but my recent visit was one of tge best, OD that performed exam was very personable and likable, the student that shadowed her was great too, even recommended a new contact that Im trying! Couldnt be more positive about my experience.

Nice facilities, the residents Doctors and staff Doctors are very knowledgeable, good at helping you understand what theyre explaining to you. Very welcoming atmosphere. And they have their own parking for patients so no paying and looking for places to park. The office is busy a lot so be prepared to spend some time.

Dont waste your time; they dont want to see you. Was made late by there terrible parking situation when there was zero available parking within a block of the building. I called to tell them I was gonna be late because of it and was told in response to still come to my appointment. When I got there, was turned away for being late even though they just told me I was still good for my appointment and even acknowledged the lack of parking.

The staff were very competent and I received a thorough eye exam.They are very friendly, and I was comfortable with them performing my eye exam.

They have the nicest and the most knowledgeable people working here. I have always come here every year to have my eyes checked as I worked in an office in a stressful job. At age 68 I know that my eyes are not going to improve, but these people make sure that every change is monitored and that I will have no surprises in the coming years!!

Loved it. They are student working under the direction of a licensed optometrist. You will receive the most comprehensive eye exam you have ever had. The student will leave the room and confer with the doctor several times during the exam. Don’t be worried it is a normal practice. You will be there longer than a normal eye exam but, this is because they don’t cut corners and are not trying to rush you in and out.

The Opthalmology resident was, professional, and didnt get offended when I asked her to wash her hands before she touches my face. Very informative.

My examiner was competent and skilled, but always took time to explain things to me. When my appointment was over, the staff went over everything with me, laid out their recommendations, but leeft the decisions to me. I had an impressive experience. They were cautious about COVID. Patient stays in their vehicle until they call for you. They check temperature and provide hand sanitizer at entrance. Holly worked with me the entire visit and she was wonderful. I am a difficult case for lens fitting and she was so sweet, patient and took her time with me. The 3+ hour visit was comfortable and never felt rushed. I loved hearing the teaching that took place. Dr. Laurent in fantastic at his job... brilliantly smart yet still has the ability to break it down so that I could understand. I’m happy to have found UAB Eye Care and I’m excited for the vision that I am confident they will help me gain!

The appointments can take a while depending on how busy the doctor is and what all they are checking. I had one appointment that was almost 4 hours long but it was very thorough and everything was checked that needed to be. Be prepared to have Optometry students doing a lot of the exams and helping the Optometrists. I personally did not mind this at all, but if you do, keep that in mind! Everyone is always so helpful and professional!

Im grateful for the care and patience of Dr. Daluyin during recent months she has been working with me through a series of vision problems. Shes tweaking for a final fit of new contact lenses that are already far superior than any Ive had in the past. Thanks Dr. D and UAB!

Great place. Most likely you will get a student working with you, then doctor comes to verify everything. It is actually great, students have much more time and will try everything for their own practice (and your benefit). I’ve spend over an hour with my student trying to get all the numbers for my eyeglasses right, and he sure did! Try to get that attention somewhere else... Highly recommend!

Gave a very detailed examination and were very courteous. Got me in and out quickly while maintaining many Covid Safety protocols, including: checking temps of patients on entry, masks, one way hallways, spacing, Safety shields, etc. I felt safe and like I was getting a great examination. They also offer pretty decent discounts for university students.***Update: Went back for a follow up and the teaching doctor used me as a teaching tool. I didnt mind this and had consented to this previously, but my concern is that she used a lot of complicated medical terms to describe something to the student and never once simplified or discussed what she found with me directly. Its outrageous to say someone is young to be developing something in front of them and then not explain what it is or if its something to be concerned about. I was furious and had to look up the findings she had discussed with the student on my own. Felt like I was just a piece of meat.That said, the students do a great job and I will probably go back since its cheaper than many places.

Cutting edge eye care...we are so lucky to have this facility in Birmingham! Never a wait; always friendly and professional. The docs will tell you what they’re testing and why (if you care to know). I have been here for eye injuries, regular check-ups, dry eye problems and glaucoma screening.

It was my first time at the UAB Eye Care and I was seen by an intern who did the eye exam and everything. He was nice and patient and answered all my questions. I saw Dr. Sims briefly at the end, but she was also very and gave me some more information. At last I had some issues with billing for which I called them and they were able to fix it promptly. Overall, I had a great experience and so far its the best eye doctor in town that Ive been to.

I loved my first visit to this place. They were well organized to take care of people doing this pandemic. They got me in earlier than my appointment time scheduled. The staff was so friendly. The uab school of optometry was awesome. My little 4yr old can be uncooperative sometimes with exams and their students knew exactly how to get him to comply and made it so much fun for him. We spent 2 hours there and it was a blessing the whole time. I will definitely go back. Excellent service.
