While I love the boutique idea of this supply store, the staff was extremely dismissive and negative to my friend and I after purchasing a 5x5 foot canvas. This is the second time, which is why Im writing a review. While I want to support small businesses, I wont be back. I was told to load my car myself (youre welcome to just help yourself to it), put off by a personal phone call, and had to endure continuous negative comments. I was also approached by someone from the store with the notion that this canvas could be delivered to me. Upon asking about this, the two gentlemen who worked there gawked at the idea. Just a really uncomfortable and unprofessional situation; generally unhelpful.The only reason Im giving two stars is because they have a wide selection of supplies. Just dont expect any direction or help.

Best art supply store around! I always find everything I need, and everything I never knew I needed. Lots of open stock drawing media, great selection of paint brushes. Paint selection is fantastic, especially oils, acrylics, and mediums. They also have bookmaking supplies and beautiful decorative papers! I was surprised by the selection of drawing papers and pads, as well as, canvases and wooden panels. It was definitely worth the trip from Athens!

Alabama Art Supply has the most extensive selection of professional level materials youll find anywhere in Birmingham. There are staff members that have been there for years that understand the materials and tools they sell. My wife teaches workshops here, their studio spaces for classes is spacious and comfortable. Definitely the place to go if you want to take your art to the next level! A Birmingham landmark of the art community!

There is definitely a big difference from the corporate world to small businesses and you will be able to feel it here. These guys are very helpful, came in during the last hour being open on Saturday and an employee Randy still spent about 30 minutes helping me and making sure I had what I needed, hard to find that one on one attention in the corporate world. This is another reason you should support small businesses and shop local.

This is MY FAVORITE local art supply store that I patron weekly. The staff is knowledgeable and supportive. They even have an annual members program that allows for helpful discounts. They are also pretty great when you have questions about approaching a new medium- pros and cons on brands etc!

Admittedly Im biased, because I grew up shopping at Alabama Art Supply, and so did my daughter. Its the best place I know of for a great selection of quality art supplies. The employees know their supplies, and are artists themselves. Good deals can be found and they have supplies of higher quality and variety than a craft store--if you want it, they probably have it. Discounts are available for students and frequent shoppers as well. Great place.

I used to get all my supplies online or at bigger chain stores, but the service and prices at Alabama Art Supply cant be beat. Every time you walk in the store its like youre part of a community. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable--you can really tell theyre passionate about their work and love helping others.

Their name should be Alabama paint supply. Because all they have is stuff for painting. They dont have any other art stuff so when you say art supplies people get confused thinking that they have other things that goes with arts and supplies but they dont its just paint brushes and canvases

They are a little more pricey than the competitors, but I feel the service warrants the price, they know me by name and what I am coming to get before I get there, they even will order what you need if they do not have it in stock.
