VERY SHADY! BEWARE! I will not be returning to this store. I went today to get 14 samosas. Outside the store there is a sign, $1.39 per samosa. When you go in though the guy at the register says $5 dollars per plate which is two samosas with chutney. So basically he charged me $35, meaning I was charged $16 just for chutneys which most stores give you free with samosas. Also when I asked him how old the samosas were he just said they were hot, so evading the question. Took my credit card without telling me the total and only gave receipt when I asked him for it. No prices on items in store. I do not recommend this store, overpriced and shady.

Very, very rude behavior. I had a very bad experience and was not getting time to right a review but I really need to highlight this so that no other women should have the same problem at this pathetic store. I was in my late pregnancy and really wanted to use the restroom. The owner lady said that the restroom is closed. I saw her owner husband going to the restroom at the same time. I told her why you lying and this is how you treat your customers and a pregnant women. So inhuman. Anyone will let a pregnant women use a restroom. Being a women you dont understand this. She was still very unapologetic and said so what and talking all nonsense. I was a regular customer also even though they will talk rudely and this incident was the limit. They dont know how to talk nicely to customer as shows like I DONT CARE LIKE ATTITUDE. They just think its only the customers who need the material and they dont need the INDIAN CUSTOMERS. Though the place is soooo very over pricey still customer would love to have an Indian store in Bethesda provided they have good customer service. IT DOESNT HURT TO TALK NICELY TO THE CUSTOMERS. ITS BECAUSE OF THEM YOU ARE SURVIVING THERE. THEY ARE YOUR BREAD AND BUTTER. There are many indian stores out there and it will not hurt to drive a little more and get good customer service.

Samosas are not worth buying. Ingredients are not chopped, but blended, except for the peas. Taste is marginal. Service is not friendly/rather indifferent and cashier woman tries to upsell samosas from $1.39 to over $5, to include chutney. I believe the other negative reviews about rude service. I won’t return to this store.

The lady who works here is extremely rude. If your try calling, she will not tell you the price because they make it up on the spot (which is why it’s so pricy). Try calling them and asking for a price, you will see.

Great service, delicious chaat. I called on the phone to order some fresh food (chaats and samosas) as well as some groceries. The lady I spoke with was very patient and took my order and payment by telephone. When I drove up,I called and they quickly put everything in my car. For Bethesda, the prices were certainly fair, and everything was delicious. They also offer delivery for a fee.

Great collection of groceries and super nice owners.Update Oct 9, 2021: we have been regularly visiting Guru Groceries for 100% of our Indian groceries not to mention the great samosas. Prices are reasonable, the owners are extremely friendly to us, and the range of products have improved over the last two years. They have also been very helpful in ordering in specific items whenever we requested these. We feel lucky that they have this shop right here in Bethesda.

Exceptionally great selection of everything Indian. Mr Deepak and his wife make sure they order the best brands and products in every category of Indian food products. Save a long trip to an Indian story far away. Avoid Dana Bazaar and go to Guru. You won’t be disappointed. Also try their delicious samosas!

Very rude customer service. We had bought an item that turn out to be of bad quality, when we told them that item wasnt good (so they are aware) they instead responded very rudely. During pandemic, people should be cooperative, showing attitude to other people is not what this world needs right now. It is a shame really.

Used to be a lovely shop, with a good selection. However, the female owner is always rude and unfriendly and acts as if you are an imposition on her, even if you are a regular customer. The covid protocols are weak as they force all customers to use the same basket at checkout, with a view to only protecting themselves rather than the community. It’s a shame - could have been a nice neighbourhood spot. Takeout food was also average and overpriced.

Great new addition to Bethesda! Most Indian grocery items available - if any item is unavailable in-store, the friendly owners order it in promptly. We also enjoy the savory chaat items to snack on during our weekend Indian shopping visits. Most importantly, saves us a long trip to Indian stores further out in the burbs.

This is a very clean and well stocked Indian market located in North Potomac. They carry famous brands of single and mixed spices that are imported from India. You can find all kinds of ready-made food in the freezer in the back of the store and all kinds of sweets and desserts in the freezer in front of the store. There is a single table and 2 chairs in front of the store by the register. They serve Limited items of food that you could set there and eat.I was told that they carry the best varieties of mango however when we got there in early September the mango season had just ended.the owner / manager was very friendly and helpful. I felt very welcomed here. There is also a Sikh temple within a block from this store.I will be going back and highly recommend this place.

Wow, a big, bright, and well-stocked Indian grocery store right right near work! I no longer have to go hunting for my favorite ethnic foods, with a Japanese grocery store (Hinata) on one side of the street and now Guru on the same block. You can get home-cooked meals (frozen but can easily be heated up in a pot), fresh samosas and even superb fresh chai (sorry, Starbucks, we are breaking up or at least cooling off). And snacks of all kinds. Half the time, I dont know what Im eating but the Indian flavors are so addictive! Bonus: the proprietors are so friendly and nice, theyve made their store my new haunt and zen place to step away from the office. :-)

Super excited for these guys. I think its a surefire winner. Simple concept really—-shop the full range Indian groceries and have some amazing Chaat while youre at it!As far as groceries are concerned they have everything you need except perhaps some fresh produce. Not a big deal IMO. Prices are less than Dana Bazaar in Rockville so thats a plus. The Chaat was in fact stellar. A little on the pricey compared to most restaurants in the area perhaps, but there really was a ton of food on my plate. Realistically its for 2 to share IMO. Authentic Street Chaat taste to boot and made fresh to order right in front of you---no mystery ingredients I can assure you!Try it all —— but the Bhel puri (ask for it a little spicy) & the Papri Chaat are bonafide must haves.Off you go to the Gurus of Chaat!!
