Love this store. We dont have them anymore in Chicago. But my savers club account is still active.
Safeway Bradley, Bethesda MD:I am shocked at the impoliteness, lies, inefficiency, lack of professionalism, and discriminatory attitude involved in refusing an elderly woman her Covid booster shot today.SHAME ON YOU SAFEWAY!!!!SAFEWAYThank you for your response but if you really mean it you would give me the name of a real person to call and their number. Please spare us all the predigested pap.
This is the closest in/out access to Starbucks on my route from home to the office, due to easy parking. The girl who works Starbucks doesnt know how to make the most basic of drinks. I tolerated it for a long while, until her aggressive and negative attitude motivated me to drive out of my way for another nearby Starbucks.
Pros: Free convenient parking garage under the store. Large store, good selection. Clean. Starbucks kiosk. Quest Diagnostics location. Have never had to wait long for checking out.Cons: Looked forward to transferring prescriptions here after my neighborhood pharmacy closed and there were many good reviews of this pharmacy. I actually had a very negative experience at this pharmacy.
This is perhaps my least favorite grocery store. perhaps its best feature is that it is never busy. The produce isnt comparable to other stores nearby and they even ran out of bananas when I visited most recently. This is a good place for prepackaged items dry goods but the selection and quality of frest food isnt on par with other options in the area.
Great selection on a wide variety of grocery items. Reasonably priced for the quality of the products I purchased. Clean store. Masks required when shopping even if a person is vaccinated such as myself. Well displayed as well.
Very nice store, clean and great customer service. The staff is very courteous, attentive and professional. The store has a great variety of products. This is the Safeway where Ive seen the most items from the bakery. This store also has a lot of foreign products, especially French ones, like president cheese and butter probably because of the french community in Bethesda.
I do not reccomend curbside pick up from here. I have COVID so I literally have to rely on this service. I ordered my groceries at 2pm and they said it would be available between 7-8. They texted saying it was processed, then saying it would be delayed. I called at 8:20 to check the progress only to find out my order had never been processed and the guy on the phone did not know how to do it himself and said it was “too late” so I just told him to cancel it altogether so I wouldn’t be charged. But now it’s too late to order, I have no food/groceries and I can’t go anywhere. Yay me. (:
My neighborhood grocery. I love Safeway, but, this one seems to have a limited selection.
Have shopped here since I moved about 6 months ago and like the convenience of the store. Overall it isnt is large as other neighboring stores but their team makes up for it with extremely friendly customer service. I highly recommend that anyone who checks out goes through Fathimas aisle as she has been fantastic so far and life is short! Thank you Fathima! I continue shopping here due to your excellent customer service
I work for Instacart and I like how they tell you what issue your item is in, on my app. Makes my job much easier!!! Much appreciated. Cant say that for Giant.
I met the most compassionate caring staff of any pharmacy I have ever been to. Thanh and Pooneh truly care about clients health and well-being. Incredibly helpful. They are very organized and wait times are not long. Thank you!!!!
Very cool city Safeway! Parking was easy-peasy, even with a wider/longer vehicle. Staff were so lovely and helpful. Would appreciate a greater selection of haircare products for a more diverse clientèle. Nice selection of heat-and-eat foods! Would definitely return.
Nice, clean and have things that Giant just doesnt have so Im glad its here since sometimes Harris Teeter can be too expensive. Well organized too.
Nice, clean, well-stocked store. Kind of pricey for items not on sale.
Great store very clean and quiet.
Pharmacy is more like RiteAid than others around. Pharmacists are attentive and caring.
First Safeway Ive went to that dont have an ATM machine.. like really
You can find almost everything here, including pharmacy and Starbucks! If you go for self checkout is better because their staff is not exactly polite. The only no-no is kinda expensive, so you need to go with a nice budget.
Conviene and always go here for groceries
I enjoy the layout and the easy in and out from the garage. Hit or miss on the help and there are certain employees Ill avoid, but it doesnt stop me from going there. Hours are great for people like me with unpredictable schedules.
Do not work here are professional store manager and professional staff
Its not Publix, but it was better than Winn-Dixie.
Favorite place to get groceries.
Usually has all the items I need. Close to my residence plenty of specials and savings through their card and online coupon programs. The store itself is attractive and easy to navigate. Checkout is usually rapid and employees are friendly.
Best food in town.
We just moved to Chevy Chase from Anne Arundel County and I found it so hard to find a grocery store. I love this one. The parking honestly is my favorite thing because there is a garage and its never packed. I love the people at the deli and the seafood area. Honestly I have just not had a single bad experience with this location.
Always save money here only if the self checkout machines was more advanced like other competitors
The night shift is always polite. They are some of the nicest people. One man is so enthusiastic and it makes my night.
Older store. NO liquor or wine. Horrible
Seafood has an awesome variety of fish. Fresh and a very beautiful display.
Large, modern store with free parking underneath. Oddly, it is often out of stock of some basic items. Has a Starbucks and a pharmacy.
I totally dislike city stores with parking garages. Im a suburbanite - losing my car in a garage is not a new level of complexity I want. Its also in Bethesda, a not very nice place to be. The people are as hard and unfriendly as the pock marked streets.
Close to home, easy parking, nice friendly employees and pharmacy
Fathima was very helpful and kind
Not many options for produce
I always find what Im looking for whether its pork blood, chopsticks or fresh fish. Everything is easy to find because the aisles are marked by country.
Great service! The cashier was a funny young gentleman willing to help with all my needs!
Clean, organized store with a pharmacy and Starbucks! I went at a time where it wasnt busy at all, and the workers were super helpful. Free covered parking is also a plus.
Love this Safeway fruits and produce are always fresh and well stocked items. The customer service not as good as 40 years ago. The workers are not been paid well and appreciated .
Nice store. Great selection of higher end foods. Staff friendly and helpful.
Very good customer service Reps, clean place to shop, good selection of items, clean Restrooms
Clean store. Well stocked. Had both pharmacy and Quest Diagnostics in store.
4.5 stars. Nothing is perfect, afterall ;)This is a very conveniently located store, with an easily navigable layout. I like coming up the escalator to enter at beginning of the produce section. Thats exactly where I want to start!!There isnt much of a (or any?) butcher presence, but the meat selection is always very good. There is a fish monger, with occasionally decent selections. I generally go to Pesca if I want something fresh, however. The under-store parking makes for an easy weather-free experience, whatever time of year it may be :)This is my go-to grocery store for down-town Bethesda.
Pharmacy and wide selection of products. Organic fruit selection is minimal and doesnt seem as fresh. Prices are reasonable compared to other stores in the area.
The cashier is not friendly, most of the time they are rude.
The produce is always bad here and for the most part stuff is hard to find since the aisles are labeled differently. Besides that, I saw a RAT scurry across the aisles today and I told the guy and the register and he was just like “bruh”Update: they also sold me five months EXPIRED pain relief medicine they were on sale BOGO. Now I will have to go back and swap it out
The prices were generally higher than Harris Teeters. I generally shop there only because it is less busy than the other close by stores. Like to avoid their rouge cashiers by using self check-out.
The pharmacist richard goes beyond and above to help his customers. He deserves more recognition from corporate for his excellent and professional attitude and patience. He is one if the best pharmacists I have come across.
Mutual eye contact and greeting are essential for what is called a great customer service. I was the only customer at the register this morning. I already quit going to a few Safeway branches for the same reason. Is this going to be next ?((
Perfect. Everytime and everything in stock
All fresh and affordable
Store is always in good order. pharmacy is great, management helpful at the front. Fried chicken overcooked though. Seafood area always looks great! See Ramon hes the best....
They didnt have any basic stuff (dish brushes, water pitcher); what they did have was way overpriced.
Not outstanding as the other 24/7 grocery store in Bethesda (Harris Teeter), but very good nevertheless. During daytime (6 am - midnight) I prefer Giant. The bar for grocery stores is pretty high in Bethesda -- at other places this Safeway would be considered 5 stars.
Needs a renovation - seems dark in there, aisles are narrow, and entrance stairs always appear to be filthy. I go there because the front end employee, Ted, is awesome - he deserves a raise.
Very clean store and Friendly staff.
Food expired, bread covered in mold.
Its a good Safeway, clean and well lit. Easy to navigate, free parking below the store. Must use elevator or escalator to enter. Helpful customer service.
Good sized store open 24 hours which is a great plus. Staff are courteous and helpful. Selection is pretty good. I suggest getting the Safeway app as you get some pretty good deals.
Great customer service, parking and the store is always clean and stocked.
This is a great Safeway. Large with a great variety and covered parking. Prices are normal for Bethesda. The staff were very nice though hard to find. Perhaps they were understaffed the day I was there. Appreciate the option for self check out as well.
Was just here 3/7/20 as an instacart shopper. Security kept following me around ... maybe because of my color...? It’s just sad to know your own kind do this to you. I probably have more money than these people here. I should be scared of them... 🤦🏻♀️ So SAD!!!
Great for convenience and marked down meat, poultry.etc.. just saying...
Extremely adequate.
Good
Full size store in the city. It was very clean and had everything we needed.Highly recommend this place if you are around the city.
Trash food be old and they still try to sell it steaks was in sell before it was green had a picture of them but I deleted it was going to call the health inspector...giants food is right up the street take a extra 5minutes to go there better prices and better food
Um, its groceries, what can I say? I WILL say that Ive found about 8 products that check off all my boxes in terms of flavor, healthiness and price point, and which then magically disappear from their inventory, so thats pretty frustrating. Otherwise, its a fine store with decent produce and employees.
A Safeway employee was shopping and refusing to comply with the stores one-way arrows. When I pointed this out to a manager, he could not have cared less. Good to know this Safeway store is taking the pandemic seriously.
The social safeway North of Georgetown ... if you cant find it you probably can do without it.
Went to this store in Bethesda with a shopping list and most of the items werent available. Theyve consolidated the frozen foods so theres a small selection, walked in circles trying to find produce (again items werent available), basic items are more expensive than their main competitor, meat is too expensive, and too many items you have to buy 3 to get the sale price. Finally, the receipt is always wrong. I dont shop here often and will continue not to. I really just had a prescription to pick up and wanted to do one stop shopping!
Easy to get into and out of by car and the layout is good, much less hassle than the giant up the street. Always well stocked. Sometimes they could use more checker in the evenings. but other than that no complaints.
My dog gets a bone after dinner, and its hard to find marrow bones these days. This store always has a generous supply. It would be five stars if I didnt have to argue with the meatcutter to get the bones cut to the size I wanted.
Very large and well stocked Safeway. They have an in house bakery so all the pastries and bread is fresh. Theres outdoor seating space and lots of bike racks.A very high quality Safeway
Medium-sized Safeway that has been nicely renovated. Good selection of items, bakery and deli/prepared foods
Good solid value grocery store. Their meat department often has good steaks and a decent selection of sale items throughout the store. Limited higher end items but for basics its good.
No lines. Checkers very friendly.
Crowded. Helpful employees. Decent prices. Good selection. Overall a pretty decent place to grocery shop!
It’s pains me to write such a negative review but it needs to be written and I hope it reached someone who can make a change for the better Now. The entire staff of front end employees “managers, cashiers, all exact star bucks staff” need to be re trained or released immediately. The incident the took place Sunday evening February 10th 5:30pm in case they want to see who was working and how not a single employee was wearing a Safeway standard shirt, name tag, apron.I am so upset only because they went out of their way to cause such a scene to embarrass me, and during a busy nite.I had a $10 Safeway gift card and wanted to use it along with my credit card and was told I could not and then the manager took back the item before I could say a word? I would have had no issue in just paying either way!The way he went about it was so 3rd world, the other employees told me that’s the store policy and the scene just grew from there. The manager on duty who refused to give me his name nor the stores managers names said it was that and only that stores policy and they have separate rules...really???So this is a rouge store???What’s next, are they going to only hire men, make woman wear dresses, segregate restrooms?Safeway, you soon to fix this, they are the last face the customer sees and who we give our money too.Send a mysterious shopper, you will be sick just as I am.Thank god Giant is right across the street
This particular store has a very large variety of products, including lots of fresh produce and loads of spices. I can also get most of the flours I use for baking.
Aisles are too tight to stay 6 feet away from others
Great bakery section!
Very friendly and helpful staff. Great free covered parking garage, which is rare in Bethesda. Better flower section than the competition.
One checkout open. Everything else was self service. The recorded voice is most offensive and the system needs reprogramming to make clear what is expected from the customer. And dont expect any help if you have a problem.
Produce department could be better. Having a Starbucks on premises is a plus. The customers in the parking lot, as in the rest of Bethesda, are rude. With the closing of the Safeway on Old Georgetown Road, this store may get much busier in the short term.
It is freezing in your store. Its middle of winter. Are you trying to save on the energy bills? Please make it comfortable for us all. Your employees look like they are bundled up for a winter storm.
Great selection of flowers for Mothers Day. My mother and my sisters were very pleased!
Where else can you get organic apples, grass fed hamburger and canned pumpkin in the middle of the night? Fantastic store.
Feels like a normal, non downsized grocery store in the city. Be aware they do not carry the exact same stuff as the one on old georgetown, for the most part they have more, but some things found at the other, this one doesnt carry. Cant comment on staff as I dont think Ive ever needed to communicate with them. But I guess I can say Ive never seen an employee harass a customer, so thats good.
A fantastic selection on different types of food products fruits and vegetables. The prices are decent!
The store is clean and the staff are friendly. Customer service is still King at Safeway. I love the flexible hours and when you go in late at night. You are not standing in line behind 20 people because of there being only one cashier. The store is run Professionally in the daytime and at night. You know me; no review is 100% without rating the bathrooms. The facilities were acceptable and at least there are the basics of soap and paper towels. They even have the bonus air dryer. I would love to see a hand sanitizer dispenser and a step and pull door opener.Revisited April 2nd; Safeway is still #1 in Customer Service and well stocked shelves with the items you need! 🏆
First time there nice place for shopping
Theyre helpful friendly staff is always available to answer any questions. I got my flu shot at the pharmacy with a walk-in clinic right beside. They have a in House Bakery with large seafood and meat departments. Besides a wide selection of food normally found at a deli, there are sandwich and a hot lunch item area with small self service soda fountain. Theres an area with tables and chairs that you can sit down and enjoy a meal from your purchases if you so please. I having limited Mobility Im always pleased to have a scooter available to do my shopping. The cashiers always ask whether I need any help with getting my groceries to my car.
For groceries, Safeway isnt my favorite, but they do have free EV charging stations and thats enough to get me to shop there.
Great selection
