My sister was having trouble with a crochet pattern. We went back to the store two separate days for help. The owner could not have been more helpful! There is also a stunning array of types and colors of yarn and felting materials.
Not sure why Ive seen 1 or 2 star reviews from this place?? Selection was great, its a small store but they still had a variety of materials and sizes for various project needs. The woman who helped us was super kind and thoughtful, and went above and beyond to explain the organization of the store. The selection of worsted and non-worsted yarns was top notch, local yarns were labeled as such. Again, it is a small, local store, so if you need a large amount of something that they wont have on the shelf, you may want to see about placing an order ahead of time or just calling ahead to check!
I unfortunately had a similarly rude experience at this store. When I requested to pay for my skein to be wound into a ball, (I had not purchased it there), I was told that they really don’t want to help out if the yarn wasn’t purchased there. After again volunteering to pay for the service, the woman who appeared to be the owner informed me that she guessed she could do it, but I would need to leave it there so she could help other customers. There were no other customers in the store, and she had an employee there. What happened to just being open, kind, and helpful? I miss the Bend that was the small town I grew up in I suppose. Rather than having a lifelong, local client, I will now be continuing to shop online or go to the other local knitting store. Ironically, I then went directly to the competitor and she readily agreed to help me out, for which I will pay her the $10 I had offered the prior shop, rather than only the two dollars she is asking for. It’s not hard to be nice and kind, can’t we just get back to the way Bend used to be?
I really love this shop. A great mix of staple yarns plus interesting/unique ones. So many cool projects everywhere to get you thinking. I’ve always been greeted and offered help, which I appreciate so much! I recently took a beginning knitting class here and it was so helpful.
I enjoyed everything about this cute yarn store! I love bulky yarn and they have the best selection than any other yarn store I’ve ever been to! Staff is friendly and they support all price ranges. Highly recommend this yarn shop!
I stopped in from out of town as I was wandering around. Super happy I did! Plenty of variety in yarn in both color and texture and the shop owner was so helpful and friendly. I told her I wish I could live here just so I could hang out in her shop. If you’re visiting Bend make sure to stop here!
I was eager to check out this shop to look for yarn for a sweater. I walked in, no one said a word to me, no hello, no can I help you find something, just 2 people chatting in the rear section of the store. I assume at least one of them worked there. From what I saw they did not have 5 or 6 skeins of matching yarn. The selection wasn’t fabulous. I left, if it’s not important for the staff to acknowledge me I rather spend my money elsewhere.
This is the absolute best place in Bend to get your knitting supplies as well as AWESOME advice on your project. Kate, the owner, is very friendly, super knowledgeable, and so very patient! I have been trying to knit a baby blanket for two weeks. I think I have been back for help with all of my mess ups at least 5 times (twice today!). Each time I am greeted with a warm smile, a chuckle, and a Oh Angi, this is an easy fix. The shop so inviting you just want to sit at the table in and work on your project while chatting away with whoever is there. If you knit, crochet, or even do macrame, Wool Town is the best place for supplies, advice, and FUN!
It is with sadness that I post this review. I lost my knitting mojo when my mom died about a year and a half ago. Just recently, I started knitting again and was super excited to have some time to explore Wool Town. When I entered the store this afternoon, there was no evidence of employees available to help customers. I wasn’t greeted and the only person who may have been an employee was heads down in a knitting project at a back table with nary a peep of a “hello” or, “may I help you”. Not sure it was an employee (or heaven forbid, the owner), but I’ll never know because she didn’t think to talk to me. I wasn’t the only customer in the store either. Sadly, this experience is more common than it should be. No thanks LYS for no help, I’ll be ordering my yarn and supplies online or at your competitor.
Took my daughters in to get supplies for some new knitting projects for summer vacation. Great selection of yarns and supplies for all sorts of projects. Next time they might try crochet.
Great location, wonderful supply and very knowledgeable staff! Even if you don’t knit or crochet it is totally worth a stop in.
Great addition to downtown Bend. Full selection and a knowledgeable staff. We bought a couple skeins of yarn from sheep raised right here in Oregon. We will definitely return.
Love this new knitting shop. Decent prices and very knowledgeable staff!
Friendly and very helpful staff. Great materials. And its conveniently located downtown!
A delightful yarn and fiber shop with a great selection of beautiful yarns and roving for spinners!
