I dont know about everyone else, but when I go to a new autobody shop, I hold my breath. Definitely wasnt needed after taking my car to Verplanck Auto. This is a local mom and pop type business with Manny and Kathy at them helm. The two of them and the rest of the staff are very, very friendly and give a personal touch. My car was getting checked out because it was making a squeak/rattling sounds when I would press on the break, so it was concerning to say the least. I wasnt sure how big the bill would be and what would be needed because I am no car guy. I got a call the day I brought it in from Kathy and Manny and they let me know the issues and what should be done and what could be done but wasnt necessary. Very refreshing to have someone give you the brass tax and give you options and educate you while not trying to take advantage.There is no doubt that I am going to bring my car back here, and you shouldnt hesitate either.

I had a used car break down on me and I’ve never had to take a car to a mechanic before. Verplanck auto seemed to have a good reputation so I took a gamble and I’m glad I did!Turned out the transmission was shot and needed replacing, which was no small job. Manny and his team made every effort to make sure it was done right! Going as far as ditching the initial salvaged transmission that was going to go into the car and ordering a brand new one at no extra cost.The repair turned into a bit of a nightmare (due to the car being a lemon) and Manny had every opportunity to say “good enough” and hand it back. Instead he saw the repair through making sure everything was done correctly.The last thing I wanted after having a car break down was a bad mechanic taking me for a ride and I found the exact opposite at Verplanck Auto. Professional, polite, and attentive. 110% my go-to shop from now on!

They are very efficient in their work

I am so glad and relieved to have found Verplank Auto and it’s owner, Manny! I totally trust him, his rates are reasonable. The shop does does excellent work. And they’ve fixed some tricky problems for me. Manny is a resourceful and creative problem solver, and an excellent diagnostician.

Manny even got on a teleconference with my guest’s mechanic in DC when her car broke down here; I’m not sure others would come through like that. Prices are fair. Reliable and friendly local mechanic and his team here in Beacon. Was recommend to me when I first moved here and has always been effective at diagnosing my cars problems and resolving them. Charges reasonable prices and performs quick turnarounds. Also, if you have a Mazda, look no further. Manny worked with Mazda as a mechanic for a number of years and is well acquainted to their quirks.

Verplank Auto is great local car repair service. All the people there are helpful and courteous. Manny will always give you an honest estimate and try hard to give you sensible options for your car repairs. They just repaired my exhaust system and did it for less than I expected. They understood that my otherwise well repaired car with 330K miles on it didnt need an expensive exhaust system.

Verplanck Auto is absolutely incredible. Honesty and integrity go a long way !!! Manny and his team are top notch. I recently sent a friend into Verplanck Auto. She was told by a different garage that she needed a new transmission. Manny diagnosed the vehicle and it turned out to be a relatively minor and inexpensive repair. Last week I needed brakes desperately. My spare vehicle was in need of a starter. Manny fixed both vehicles in a timely fashion and his rate was much cheaper than the dealership. I trust the good people at Verplank. We are LUCKY to have them here in Beacon.

Not that I love needing a mechanic but I do love that Verplanck Auto is doing business in Beacon. I rolled in with my engine making noises that would have alarmed even the most unsaavy car owner. Verplanck Auto stayed calm, let the car cool down and did some sleuthing. This is a woman-and-husband-run business. I am a woman in charge of my own automotive maintenance with limited knowledge in this area. In other words: VULNERABLE TO RIP-OFFS. I used to go to Ed’s, and they were excellent fair gentlemen, but Ed has not been well. Kathy and Manny were recommended and I feel I have been fairly treated. No girlie calendars or posters in sight. Fair dealings, no mumbo jumbo, safety minded which is impt to me cause I burn up the road mileage in all weather at all hours. Any mistakes are honestly accounted for, properly groveled and corrected without charge. Sisters, I recommend.

The Best!!!Honest and fair

Of all days, my A/C bearings blew out on my 2005 Ford Explorer on the coldest day of the year - -1F when I pulled into Old Time this a.m. I met with Rob and he had his guy drive me over to the diner while he worked on the car. He was done by noon and the price was right. I plan on having Rob take care of a few other other things and will raise the rating to 5 after a little more experience with Old Time. It is good to find someone you can trust at the right price. Recommend.

Despite some issues with part deliveries manny and his staff tried thier best to accommodate my needs.

Theyve changed our summer/winter tires a few times and EACH TIME they didnt tighten the lug nuts enough and within a week they were loose and weve had to tighten them on a road trip, as the wheel was about to fall off! If they cant do something this simple correctly, I wouldnt trust them to work on something more complicated.Last week we had them replace the brakes on our Prius and AGAIN, by 1 week the lug nuts were completely loose & turnable by hand. PLUS the brake rotors were rubbing so badly that my wife had to be towed home as she feared for her life while driving on the highway.Needless to say, we will not be going back to Verplanck, despite how convenient it is to our house.

Worst service ever by far!!But yet all these cliche mechanic schemes keep getting even more ridiculous.But out of all the schemes, this one surpasses them by far.About a week ago I brought my Chevy Malibu to the shop for an inspection. Despite being ripped off,dealing with horrible costumer service & profanity including racial slurs. I proceed to have my vehicle inspected but not in my surprise, they told me there were several problems including1. Motor will blow soon needs a new engine(motor has 32k miles on it??)2.Needs spark plugs(??)3.Needs new transmission4.Needs new tires & rims ( what?? This is a brand new car, dont worry it gets better)5 Needs new stereoNow I am no car expert but all of this sounds bizarre yet note the fact that they provide all the stuff I need hmmm not surprised. These people are pathatic liars, unprofessional scammers!!
