My family and I come here often because the food is great, but the place could use a bit of a makeover. For one, we often see bugs flying around, especially near the kitchen. Weve never seen a fly in the food, but today there was a fly in my moms drink! She ordered mango w/ milk. Please do something about this issue!

I bet the night shift manager on Thursdays only made it to kindergarten. Only one register open and the only thing he does is chilling on his phone.

Stop by today trying to get something to eat from the hot deli, unfortunately the girl that work behind the counter didnt speak a word of english, as a person from another country I understand the difficulty of the language barrier unfortunstely for my wife and I, we end up leaving without getting anything. We were craving for some grilled chicken, try some other cooked foods and some dessert cups by the yummy bakery goodies, you would think pointing our fingers to what we would like to get is easy enough, maybe the manager would teach their employees a few services tricks to service some of the customers that doesnt speak Spanish. Been craving those firewood grilled chicken the past or 4 weeks, oh well 😕

Very nice Mexican market. Been in there several times and always been treated great. If ur in a hurry u might wanna go somewhere else. But sat. Even the owner/manager was on a register.

I am from Wisconsin and it’s hard to find good food. This food was great. You get a lot of food for the price. The steak is delicious! The beans are delicious and the rice outstanding! I will be back.

La Ideal on Sherwood Forest Baton Rouge is the Best. Today I was helped by Mr. Alfredo Santos. I spoke with Mr. Santos Yesterday. Told him that my husband is on dialysis 3 times a week. I am in a walker. To make it short: Mr. Santos brought to my car the beef soup( amazing), Carne Asada plate ( delicious) & 10 fresh conchas. The food & services at La Ideal in Sherwood Forests Baton Rouge are the outstanding. Today, after dialysis, I gave my husband 1/2 beef soup. After the first spoon, he looked at me with a big smile. I knew then that the soup was delicious.Thank you Mr. Santos for helping us.

Right off the interstate and easy to find. Went in for the hot lunch. Service was quick and easy. The employee who made my plate did a good job explaining what comes with each plate and was helpful making a suggestion on what was good. She suggested pollo guisado and it did not dissapoint. Delicious! Will definitely come back whenever i pass through baton rouge.

This is a Hispanic market,great cooked food selection. Amazing bakery (delicious tres leches cake). Can find any fresh fruit or vegetable that has to be imported here.

I didnt wanna have to make this review but when I get annoyed as a customer I make these. I do wanna say this place has the best prices for latin goods like cookies,chips drinks etc. The problem is the first time I went for taco tuesday it took a couple minutes to check out because the girl at the register was in the restroom and pregenat which is understandable. I think people should have access to check people out as a backup at certain registers my mother and I finally went to checkout in the front and still dined in. Today being a big event and mexico independance day the tacos de carne asada were being cooked in the front in the parking lot and no one could tell me what the deal was how i would get some when they were done. The guy on the grill said there is some in the back there wasnt any carne asada in the back and even said he had no idea how much they cost. Alot of employee,s were just playing guessing games and I was asking questions in spanish to.

Ideal market is not quite my favorite store but their cakes and desserts are some of the best, most of the time. But, on one particular visit, I bought a rebanada de pastel de tres leches and when I bought it home to eat, the strawberry on top was moldy. And the date on the cover says it was made 10-04-19 and expires on 10-14-19. Now I know that I bought it the day before the expiration date but they should check and examine cakes that are close to expiring and see if its time for them to go in the trash. I bought it since I thought oh it must still be good if its still out in the display case but nope nope, the strawberry was moldy. Now the lesson would be to check for moldy cakes even if some are a day from expiring.

Good Hispanic market, you can get many items not found in regular grocery stores. The fruit and vegetables are less expensive here that many of the regular stores. They try to keep it clean and most of the time it is.

I come here often to get a lunch. And I know we live in the deep south but baby?&? many of the employees are rude or either racist?&? They seem offended you wish to shop at this store honey...What a culture shock racism happens in all cultures. Hopefully through continued visits they can see my money green and O enjoy the food. Ha ha gotta get ya coins... one thing I have learned that when provide customers with a good product you will get more business...though you can loose it the same way with HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE....TIGHTEN UP

This store has pretty much everything you need to make your next spanish dish.

Its not there terrible personalities or horrible costumer service. Its the fact theyve told me multiple times that my credit card doesnt work. So I have to use another card. Then I get home only to find out they charged both cards twice. Only around $40 both times but its the principal, how many people are they robbing blind and dont return to get there money back. That store is full of dirty thieves and rudest people. They even have the gual to be nasty to me as I ask for my hard earned money back. STAY AWAY FROM IDEAL MARKET, Im sure its just a front anyway. I really hope a better store comes to that corner.

The Ideal Market is a Hispanic grocery where you can buy delicious bakery treats such as l flan and tres leches cake, in various sizes., It has a large assortment of fresh baked pastries and beautiful large cakes, just inside the front door. Plates of hot deli food can be eaten inside on picnic type tables, or taken out. In the right rear corner of the store are large transparent barrels of fresh juice which is sold by the cup. Delicious warm fried plantain slices are sold with crema and grated cheese topping optional. Oaxaca cheese is sold in strips, by the pound, next to the cold cuts, on the rear back wall. There is a good selection of fresh produce. Delicious mangos, plantains etc. Large variety of food products to choose from. Lively music floats overhead. Bring your Spanish dictionary and have a fun experience. Some of the clerks speak English. So no problema. Media libra means a half pound. Learn Spanish and enjoy yourself.

All very well but yesterday I went to the store and asked about the things that my wic card has and the cashier designed me but you will buy here and I answer if she then takes out the list and tells me that I have an amount for fruit that if she passed me. .. I had to pay that question so upset me that if you go to a store it is because you have to pay and not only if you pass but for more things that old woman isolates me too angry and for people like her has a bad image the ideal I hope the store manager reads this

A super place to buy our pantries with their touch of Latino 😉 ... it hurts that many times the cashiers like that they are in a bad mood that the fruits or vegetables after putting them in the bag almost throw them away and hit things ... Only observation to be more careful when dealing with customer purchases
