STAY AWAY!!! We were expecting a fuel delivery this week so my husband spent time making sure our driveway was plowed and safe for the fuel delivery truck and driver. Well we received a call saying that the driver couldn’t make it into our driveway and that it was so icy, his truck was “sliding all over the place.” So we went out to check the driveway only to discover that the driveway was NOT icy, there was snow which had been packed down due to the plowing but not ice. Also, it is important to note that our driveway is only 50 ft long and not steep AT ALL. There had been no attempt to drive in our driveway as there were no tire tracks from a big truck like you’d expect. We checked the road we live on and it was a little icy, so we called the town garage to have them come salt and sand so we could get fuel. 15 minutes later, the delivery guy comes blasting down our road and stops, gets out to take pictures of our driveway but doesn’t actually step foot on it. Then he gets in his truck, and speeds off, going at least 30 mph. My husband goes out and tries to meet him on the road to offer to put sand down on the driveway out of courtesy even though it doesn’t need it and he flags the driver down, but the driver speeds past him and drives away. I’m sorry but if you can speed on an icy road in anger, then you can drive on our non icy, plowed driveway and deliver fuel. Imagine the elderly or disabled population getting treated this way when they need heat. Unacceptable, will be taking our business elsewhere.
So many issues.. but current primary is they price gauge and charge a super premium if you don’t buy way before winter for all of winter. Last year I was in tier ‘2’ which meant I paid about 2.40 a gallon. On call. This year, I somehow was kicked off my tier and pay whatever they want. 3.25(?) a gallon which is nuts and adds up.
Do yourself a favor and go with another company. Their service department is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!! Have been calling to have them remove a leaning tank that was improperly installed, and change our system over to a single 500gal bottle for OVER A YEAR. They cancelled scheduled services to address it multiple times over the summer and fall, and then couldn’t do it over the winter due to snow. Now it’s spring and they won’t come because of CoViD, even though it requires zero interpersonal contact. We put off the install of our generator for over a year while we’ve waited on them to figure out where our bottle will be. We’ve always paid immediately upon delivery and spend a lot of money on their fuel. Obviously they don’t appreciate the patronage though; we’ll be switching companies.
I saw another review with one star. My experience has been very different. They were very responsive when I requested service initiation. I get auto fill, and electronic billing. I get a delivery notice as well as the e-bill. I get a discount for prompt payment. There are additional discounts for getting a loyalty card for use at gas stations. I would recommend.
UPDATE: After calling yesterday to cancel an emergency delivery of fuel and get a refund of the fees, this afternoon I receive a barrage of voice messages. The delivery man wants to know: how does he get to the furnace? (to do the $25 bleed-and-start)*******1. Their system doesnt automatically show when you have a Fuel Assistance credit on the account. So if youre unaware that you have a credit, they will ask you to pay. YOU ONLY GET FUEL ASSISTANCE IF YOU DONT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY FOR FUEL YOURSELF.2. if you make an appointment or payment arrangement with them, demand to stay on the phone with the representative until their system has confirmed it. Call again the next day make sure.3. If youre in a semi-rural area they will only deliver one day a week. They know that if you run out of oil youll be desperate for an emergency delivery, and more likely pay the $129 for the emergency delivery. And if youve run out of fuel, they can also charge you $25 to start and bleed the furnace, even though you can do it yourself, for free---unless you have a condition that prevents you from being able to do so. Like blindness, something that affects your fine motor skills, or something commonly known as A DISABILITY. You know, like some of the things which might affect your ability to pay for oil, thereby qualifying you for fuel assistance.4. They lack integrity. You can tell they are taking advantage of people in dire straits because their minimum fuel delivery is not measured in gallons of fuel, but in dollars--$300 is the minimum. Whether one hundred gallons or a hundred-fifty, they dont really charge based on how much oil theyre trucking around for you; they just want $300 to make it worth it for them. And if youre moving out in the next month or so... well, you still have to buy $300 worth of oil.I made an appointment for the one day a week they deliver here, declining the emergency delivery and bleed-and-start. My mother found out I was actually out of oil and called Irving to get me an emergency delivery of fuel. They mentioned NO RECORD OF MY APPOINTMENT OR FUEL ASSISTANCE CREDIT, so my mother was ready to put $454 on her credit card. She called me to check with me and called them back, told them there was a credit, and paid the emergency fees anyway. Of course, when I called to cancel, they DID have a record of her payment. The guy on the phone listened to my complaints and his response was appropriately rueful, but he didnt seem to know what to do. He offered me no assurance that the issues I brought up would be addressed. I had to demand that my complaints be conveyed to a supervisor and say that I would be posting a review of their company online. These are serious complaints. What would have happened on Wednesday, when I was expecting a delivery? Would I have to call again only to be told Id have to go another week without heat, or else pay the emergency fees?*To the credit of Grant, the representative I spoke with, he did call me back with a tremendously improved set of resources for making sure a disgruntled customer hung up the phone happy. Great job, Grant. Excellent tone, very professional and affable. You confirmed each of the responses to each complaint. Thumbs up.Irving Energy: your sloppiness and business practices are unethical.
Used to be my favorite company to deal with but no more. They are incompetent and will be losing my business.
I have had nothing but problems scheduling a service that I had initially requested at the beginning of September. I also used to like them.👎
