First time eating here, I kept hearing about it for years. I had the Bourbon Peach Waffles & my Mom had the Chicken/Shrimp & Waffles, I believe. It was AMAZING! Our waitress was very kind, gave great suggestions & just all around nice person! Only small improvements... I would say, my tea was room temp instead of hot, however our waitress did go back, so they could bring another cup but it was still just barely warm unfortunately. Also, the bathroom didnt have any paper towels. Other than those 2 minor things, I would absolutely come back! The service & delicious food outweighed the other things! Great customer is hard to come by!
Oh my what a sweet lilspot! We wandered around, got lost finding the first location so made out way to this spot located in Baltimores Little Italy!... We had a short wait, but OH WAS it worth it!!!!!!The walking built up our appetite and we ate everything!!!!! From the Old Bay Crab and shrimp Omelette, chicken eggs Benedict, french toast & oh that hungry man platter was super filling!!!Food was the correct temperature presented well and everything was absolutely Delicious! The staff was great! Atmosphere was pleasant!
My experience here was not great. The food arrived promptly, which I appreciated, but they forgot to add the cheese on top of my skillet like Id requested. I was in a rush so I let it go. The Breakfast Skillet didnt impress. While the presentation was nice, the food itself left something to be desired. It was greasier than it had to be, and I while Im occasionally fine with shortening my life expectancy in the service of food, the payoff has to be worth it. In this case the grease dominated the flavor profile in a way that took away from the subtleties of the other ingredients. The dishs flavor took on a sameness so that the eggs didnt taste incredibly different than the tomatoes, and I think this was due to the amount of grease used. You might be thinking stop being so critical, its just a greasy spoon...what did you expect? Youre not wrong, its a greasy spoon. But theres a right way to make this type of food and theres this way.
Happened upon this great little spot while on a weekend trip to Baltimore. The manager, Chase, was friendly and accommodating, even going so far as to sit us near a window so we could keep an eye on our dog who traveled with us. I had the shrimp and grits which were divine. Perfectly seasoned and the right amount of cheesiness, they were some of the best Ive had! My husband had the hungry mans breakfast that featured several breakfast meats. They have an interesting and varied menu that makes me hope we can stop again before we leave!
Our last day in Baltimore we decided to stop in on this little quaint place and have brunch before we got on the road. We checked in and they had an hour wait. Im assuming due to staffing. So we took a walk around little italy to kill time. When we got seated our server Gabbi came over after a few minutes and took our drink order. While waiting for her to return we decided on the shrimp and grits side of fruit, seafood omelet side of grits and apple caramel pecan french toast with bacon and a side of homefries. We waited on our order and they brought out the shrimp n grits the french toast and bacon. When they brought out my omelet it had 3 shrimp on top but when i opened it up to see the inside there was nothing. So they had to remake my food because according to Gabbi my omelet was not the correct one. They also forgot my grits and put the homefries on my plate. We wouldve just slide them onto another plate but they werent even hot. So i waited another 10-15 minutes while both my kids had finished their food i finally got mine. Again with homefries on the plate still just luke warm so we asked Gabbi to just take them off the bill. Then she brought my grits afterwards. Needless to say when we got the check it reflected a 10%discount, they took off the homefries and the coffee. Food being lukewarm, and not living up to its description, and forgotten about, probably will keep me from coming back. The ambiance was nice and the staff were polite.
The food here was absolutely awesome!!! The portion sizes were huge! The atmosphere was super cool. Just EVERYTHING about this spot was totally fabulous! Will definitely be back! Well worth the 45 min drive I made to get there!
The food at Saturday Morning Cafe was phenomenal! The seafood Omelette was my favorite. Packed with crabmeat and topped with some sauce and shrimp. The skillet was really delicious. Had to spice it up with some salt & pepper because the grits were bland, but after that the dish was a 5 ⭐️. The scrambled eggs were the best scrambled eggs I’ve had thus far. Chicken was well seasoned and fried crispy with the chicken & waffles and the blueberry pancakes were something delicious. Will definitely have to return to explore more of the menu options. I cannot stress this enough, I love supporting Black owned Businesses.SMC was a cute quaint Cafe.Service was friendly.Wait time, Covid restrictions, wasnt bad at all but the time of day visited.I ordered the Seafood Benedict and it was good.I also tried a piece of the Smoked Chicken and all I tasted was a regular fried chicken tender.Overall we had a great experience.A few cleaning items can be hidden while guests are dining, we were seated downstairs.I would definitely support again!
Found this place by random on Google maps (miss Shirleys was extremely busy) and saw that it was black owned (per the reviews) as well. Reviews seemed solid so I gave this place a shot. Nice sized place. Decor was cozy. Servers were nice. Food was meh. I ordered the Saturday Morning platter. Eggs, bacon, grits, and two pancakes. The grits were very stiff, and they tasted as if they were cooked in a saucer used for bacon. The pancakes were standard as any other breakfast place. The bacon was bacon, the texture was off though. The eggs had no flavor but I ate for the sake of nutrition. This place definitely needs assistance with more people to help. I really want to see this place win. They are currently hiring, and I strongly believe with the help they are asking for, if provided, the food quality will go up. The cook had to deliver the food several times to customers in the dining room including myself.
You have to have patience when it comes to small businesses. I will admit to it being extremely short staffed and having one waitress at this time. The waitress had me waiting about 10 minutes to before being seated, but eventually sat me at the bar since I was alone. Once I ordered, I received my food not too long after. It was really simple, but really delicious. I will definitely be returning. Google says its a black owned business as well, and I am always open to support!
Great brunch/breakfast! Was able to get free street parking, too! The S. High Street location is on a nice, quiet, and pretty street. The managing and staff were so friendly and helpful. The music and interior of the inside were also charming and welcoming. Service was quick and portions filled you up! I would highly recommend this place for a bite in Baltimore!
Great place too eat at... very cozyNice pricesI Will b back
Amazing!! Me and my husband were in town for the baseball game and we were looking for a quick place to get brunch. The food was SOO GOOD and the service was great!! Our server Omar was very helpful and his hospitality was amazing!! We ordered pancakes and the hungry man breakfast platter and chocolate chip pancakes and everything was delicious. Definitely 10/10 recommend!!
Cozy little restaurant with big flavor. We had fish and grits. They were DELICIOUS. Shout out to Leroy too for being the best waiter, server, host and every other position you can hold in a restaurant and still gave THE BEST customer service. When you go in ask for him he will definitely take care of you.
They like everyone are short staffed so you may have a bit of a wait but they are in no way short of flavor and kindness. Everything was delicious and the server and manager were great. Dont let the wait discourage you or even better - make a reservation. Well 10/10 be back next time were in town.
Cute little hidden spot near the harbor. There’s indoor and outdoor seating. We sat at the bar and the lady at the breakfast bar was very friendly and offered us coffee right away. While we decided what to order, they served us a couple of delicious and warm danishes, courtesy of the house. I ordered the “Baltimore Benedicts” they came with crabmeat on top and a side of really good potato breakfast. Food was fresh, hot and very tasty! I’ll definitely be coming back for brunch again in the future!
Great food and great service. Everything came out so quick and loved the energy and we got sat so quick for a weekend morning. 10/10 would recommend
We discovered this place in the cutest little Italy. It was very quiet but it also was a Wednesday morning. I ordered the French toast dream and it was delicious and my husband got the seafood omelet which he thought was great. When they brought my husband his hot sauce we noticed it was probably house made and it was soo good. I asked the server if they sold it because we arent from town and wanted to purchase some to share back home. Ashley our server was just wonderful AND she brought us several small togo ramekins of the hot sauce so we could take it with us. Overall we totally recommend people visit this place, I wish I had photos of our food, but we just dug in.
Everything was fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the loaded grits and I tasted some of my daughters pancakes. Both are two thumbs up. There was a short wait but compared to the spot we attempted first in the harbor, 15 minutes was too easy. The did not have sodas or alcohol, but they did have coffee and juices. Hopefully next time Im in the area, they will have mimosas on the menu 🤞🏾
Always a Good meal here! We always enjoy this place. Yummy chicken and waffles. Cant go wrong with the shrimp and grits. Staff is always kind and friendly.
The food here is DELICIOUS!!! BUT I came all the way from Suitland Md (1hour away). The first time I arrived at 2 because the website says closes at 230. And the door was locked. The second time I arrived at 130 and was informed that they are no longer seating. I get it! But My problem with this is that I tried calling to make sure my 130 arrival time wouldn’t be a problem before I came but no one answers the phone. So I said well the website says they close at 230 so 130 shouldn’t be a problem. I will still try to make it back to this place in the future because again the food is TORCH! Im hoping the website will be updated with detailed information and/or they assign someone to answer the phones.
Amazing food! Had to go with apple pecan French toast and famous chicken and shrimp waffles. Friendly server!! Nice quick spot for a delicious breakfast
This is a cut little spot that is Black-owned. The food was great and the staff were friendly. There is a bit of a wait to get your food but I understand this is typical for Baltimore slower pace than New York. They offer outdoor and indoor dining and they serve breakfast all day. Check it out if you are around the Inner Harbor area in Downtown Baltimore.
Today, I had the most horrible experience in this place. The host had us wait 20 minutes while 4 tables were empty plus there was no one at the counter plus another whole empty room. The host also told us that we couldn’t wait inside the restaurant even though there was no one else waiting and it was 90+ degrees outside. We were eventually seated but I noticed that the next couple to arrive were seated immediately. The host was not having a good day. He was cleaning tables at one point, talking angrily to himself and muttering something about “Chinatown “. While we were eating, the host used two menus as fans to dry the table pushing the air directly at us.The food was also poor. The website promotes the restaurant as a craft restaurant that takes pride in the care it takes to prepare food from scratch. The hot tea that I ordered used room temperature water that could not dissolve my tea bag. The order came with wrong food. Just as the prior reviewers said, the waffle was soft and cold. As a person who eats out at least 3 time a week, I can honestly say this is the first time I have had a such bad restaurant experience. When we were leaving the restaurant, we saw the empty room in which people sat where we could have been sitting instead waiting 20 minutes. I asked the host about the menu/ fan incident and he denied that it was anything out of the ordinary. Really? I would have thought the standard procedure for cleaning a table would be to wipe it with a damp cloth. I would have thought if one were to fan a table to dry it, the dryer should fan in the direction of an unoccupied area. This is not a good restaurant, especially if you are Asian. If I had a choice, I would give a zero review, and I would make sure my colleagues and friends do not go there.
A member of my group was discriminated against due to the fact that he did not have a mask on in order to walk to the table. I understand this is an emotional time due to covid but he let the manager know he had an asthma issue and was advised by his doctor to not wear anything that would restrict his breathing. The manager (who was wearing his mask below his nose, and half covering his mouth) was completely rude and wouldn’t even attempt to listen before rudely telling him to get out. Awful management and customer service, would highly advise avoiding this place!!
What a great find, and a warm experience! My family of 5 enjoyed the 3-day Memorial weekend in Baltimore, and decided on Saturday Morning Cafe for our brunch/late lunch (for some). Their menu was easy enough that the kids (all under 7 years old) each had their pick, and finished their food! My wife ordered the Baltimore Benedict, and I was pleased to have opted in for the Seafood Benedict (as opposed to the cheesesteak I first thought to order)! It was so good. Shout out to Chase (our host) and Alicia (served our fresh food) for a great service experience! The location was also an intrigue, and about a 5 minute walk to the Harbor. We will definitely be back!
Cant say enough about the staff, the hostess was wonderful. We sat down to place our order and one of my children a lil panic attack. So we requested our food to go and our waitress Candace was wonderful and she made sure we had something to drink while we waited for the food to be cooked and packed. We got the food home sat down to eat and the food was amazing, hats off to the cook and the staff. Will definitely be getting food from there again.
In from out of town... The food here is awesome. I ate here 2 days in a row. The shrimp and grits and chicken and waffles is on point. Great job guys. Only thing is the long wait to get the food. But worth it.
…I’m still confused… The host or whoever the guy was at front told me there wasn’t any outdoor seating because he didn’t have a server so I placed my order to go and sat outside… Not even 10 minutes later people began to sit outside and a server came out to greet them and take their orders 🤔🤨 and the server asked me to get up so the guests can sit at the table 🥴
Food was delicious! Service was great! Omar was our waiter, and he was very friendly and attentive! Very cozy atmosphere!
Excellent experience.. Omars attentiveness is unmatched. Excellent customer service. Food is amazing.
Great food! Omar and the rest of the staff was awesome! Will definitely come back.
The food is extremely good. However, they are BY FAR the slowest breakfast food restaurant I have ever been to. Unfortunately, most of the staff is less than professional too.
The “manager” was EXTREMELY rude. He claimed that he was the manager and refused to give us his name. We had a larger group and notified the restaurant. He decided to get on the phone and say “this large party just came in and think they’re about to be serviced”. We heard what the waiter said and felt extremely disrespected. He said to us “I wasn’t talking to you, I was on the phone”. The waiter was talking about us in front of us and we did not deserve this type of treatment. A different waitress tried to clean the tables to seat us and he yelled at the waitress and told her not to help us. We expressed that we didn’t like the way he was talking to us and he said “well you all can leave, I don’t have to serve you” so we left.
Saturday Morning Cafe is my new favorite spot Omar and Chase take care of me every time I come in, I usually get the French Toast and shrimp & grits it’s so delicious I recommend everyone to try them out!
Super friendly staff, cozy space and excellent food. I mean, really, really yummy. Service was quick, the food was hot, and it was priced comparable to the area. Would definitely go back again if in Baltimore.
We stopped in on our way back to New York and Our food was GREAT,our server Omar was so polite,we will definitely comeBack!!
Met a friend here for her birthday and the food was good but the service was lacking.
We just ate here this morning and If I could give this 10 stars I would. Food is very well priced, cooked to perfection and seasoned amazingly. The customer service was second to none. My girlfriend and I will be stopping here for breakfast every time we come to Baltimore. I cannot recommend this place enough. Best breakfast ever.
Over cooked food, after waiting an hour and a half to be seated. Manager was beyond rude and disrespectful. He walked around with a chin diaper, mask wasn’t even covering his mouth or nose!! Did not feel comfortable here. Better off going to McDonald’s. Avoid this poorly ran establishment.
My family had a great breakfast here! Fluffy pancakes, perfect grits smothered with fixins and perfectly cooked over easy eggs and a fantastic seafood eggs benedict. Loved the atmosphere, we sat at the counter - it was homey, woman working the counter was so friendly and nice. I already know what I am ordering tomorrow morning - we are definitely going back while here on vacation. I recommend Saturday Morning Cafe!
The food was delicious. We didn’t have reservations but the Host was able to get us a table before the 30 minutes. Thx Chase and Omar! We will be back.
Always will support black businesses. This place was so awesome! Food was great and the staff was warm/friendly. They made sure we had a nice experience. If we get back to Baltimore soon, we’re definitely coming back! …and try the shrimp and grits!
Not recommended. For starters, all my food was overcooked. The Smoked Chicken Benedict came out with two hard boiled poached eggs that tasted of vinegar and not seasoned at all. (A splash of vinegar to help the eggs stay together is acceptable, but it should not affect the taste.) the smoked chicken was dry and had no smoke flavor at all. The home fries were cooked till dark brown, yet somehow mushy. A side of sausage yielded just one link of sausage burnt to a crisp.Poaching an egg is breakfast 101 for any restaurant, so 2 stars off just for that, the other two stars off for the dry/ burnt/ overcooked food.
What a gem of a place! The food was incredible and the service was outstanding! I’ll definitely come back when I’m in Baltimore again.
Went in January, 2021- Super average if that breakfast. Could have prepared better at home or in hotel room. But we loved supporting a black owned business and enjoyed observing the unique style! The white lady behind the counter gave the BEST service! While another big lashed black woman behind the counter stood unhelpful and annoyed.
My goodness, what a treat! Whomever is back there in that kitchen is awesome! The customer service was exactly that, service. Thank you and much success!
I had the smoked fried chicken Benedict, grits, and pancakes with a friend. Food came out fast and HOT! We loved all of it! Chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. We asked for the eggs to be poached hard. We received our plates and didnt complain, but Ashley, our server, brought out more eggs because she said the ones we had didnt look very hard.
This restaurant discriminated against my husband. We met people outside who said the food was awful but we decided to walk in and give it a shot since we were in a rush. The manager who was wearing a mask below his mouth (both nose and mouth exposed) would not allow us to walk 3 feet to a table and sit down to eat without a mask. My husband has severe asthma and cannot wear a mask and has a medical exemption to do so. They did not care. Avoid this discriminatory restaurant at all costs. The food is horrible and the manager is even worse!!
Visiting the area and found this cute little restaurant tucked away off the busy downtown area. Food was hot, fresh and amazing. I had the Alabama Loaded Grits. My kids who are picky eaters had various styles of pancakes. All cleaned their plates. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be back the next visit.
Had the shrimp and grits, it was simply amazing. The staff was really friendly, inside was clean and had a unique local charm.
A small hole in the wall cafe. While that, in and of itself can be charming, the buck stpped there. Its a Black owned establishment and I was all to happy to support. Food was Not tasty at all. Skillets, theyre way too small, the food in piled in and its messy to eat and enjoy each element of the meal. Need to just use plates. Very cheap cut of steak, grisly and tough. Grits not cooked well and unsalted. No steak knife just a butter knife. One time only visit. Staff very nice.
Bachelorette party brunch here. Bride had a great meal and so did all of us bridesmaids. Everyone was incredibly kind and attentive! Delicious food and fun atmosphere.
The manager had such a terrible attitude and was talking about our party to whoever he was on the phone with. Why are you on the phone at work anyway when you have customers waiting on you? I would really like to know! He was also very rude to the waitress that was trying to figure out our seating situation. He attempted to fight us and when we asked him what his name was, he said “Saturday Morning” because HE KNEW he was wrong. DO NOT go to this restaurant unless you like poor customer service.
Breakfast only all day, fantastic tucked away gem, food was delicious and hot, service was good. They have tables up and downstairs and a bar style counter, with about 3 tables for outside seating. l went twice while visiting, and will return when i come back to inner harbor. personal note: if you like bananas foster, get theirs, quite delicious. and i cant stress this enough, their breakfast potatoes are so good. my SO also got the apple pecan french toast both times and loved it. she wished more pecans the second time.
I’ve eaten here in the past and the food is delicious. I’m giving three stars today because the website lists that they have carry out orders available, however when I called to place a to-go order I was told it wasn’t available. We don’t feel comfortable eating indoors yet so got breakfast carry out from another restaurant.
Omg.....I had the fishvabd grits and it was absolutely perfect. Our server Omar was the greatest! This is a must visit!
Omar was very delightful he made our first time experience great we are from out of town and this was our first time here and we loved it
This was our 1st visit. I had the seafood omelet. It was great! My husband had shrimp and grits and the Saturday morning special. He ate every drop! We will definitely be going back!
Great southern atmosphere and food. Staff were very nice and our server was awesome.
Well I had the best breakfast I’ve had in a long time. Can’t believe I had to go to Baltimore to eat so well!!! I can’t wait to go back. The food was so fresh and well prepared. I appreciate it greatly 🌺🌺🌺
If you know me then you know Ill give it to you straight. If you know me then you know I love good food. The staff was professional. It was clean. And guess what?!, they USE REAL SHELL EGGS!. During this crazy time were living in, they all wore masks. I asked for the peppers & onions to be well done & they prepared them well done. For the owner, I would highly suggest a sign at the corner so people know where they are located. - especially for professional foot traffic customers. If I were you, you should make it your business to pay them a visit. I was off today (4/21/21) and I went there for a late breakfast. That entire experience made my day. No joke, i think later i was driving & someone cut in front of me - I didnt yell or anything because I was still in heaven from my breakfast Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. !
This was a great find for breakast. The place has a really eclectic and local feel, and the menu was really impressive. We tried the shrimp and grits and the apple pecan french toast. The food was unbelievably good and the service was fantastic. Amazing prices as well for large portions of food. We would definitely come again the next time we are in the city and would recommend it to others. If you like breakfast food, you dont want to miss this.
Amazing biscuits and gravy. Damn fine cup of joe. Outstanding service. Dont miss this place!
Google says they say closes at 3, I came in at 1:30 what’s the real closing time, and they welcome and feed me with the most kind attitude, love the service and the food 🥰
Definitely a southern hospitality vibe. Staff was friendly under pressure with a lot of customers. Food is well priced. Food came out fast, but was very salty.
If you are looking for fast service, skip this place.
Cute little spot in the Baltimore Harbor, the wait was long to get in and to get our food so I suggest you get there early. The service and the food was good. They just ran out of certain food products too soon. The waiter Ashley was very polite and helpful. She held the whole downstairs by herself and did great.
The worst restaurant experience ever, the “manager” had the worst attitude! Was rude and did not want to seat us. When we address him talking about it behind our back he responded by getting defensive, lying, yelling at us and kicking us out. As we left peacefully he continued to speak aggressively to us. Highly disappointed!
Me and two friends came into Saturday Morning Cafe for brunch before our football team (Go Chargers) played the Ravens. Immediately when I walked in I felt at home with the cafe atmosphere. We even chose to sit at the bar instead of a table because people were so friendly. The ladies in front and the cook were incredibly welcoming, but still gave us a good couple of jabs joking around about the football rivalry. The staff was attentive to getting us drinks and recommending several of the food options. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked good, but I went with the Baltimore Benedict. It took awhile for the food to come out which is why Im only giving 4 stars. The crab cakes werent big, but they were good. The English muffin could have been more toasted, but it all went together nicely. The country potatoes were cooked well, but I personally would have liked more onion. My friends had eaten our free hotel breakfast, so one of them only got cheesy grits. He said they were awesome.Next time Im in Baltimore I would definitely come back. Convenient, unpretentious, solid food, and great staff.
Food was Awesome!!! Chase and his crew made sure we were well taken care of....I will be back!!!:)
Best breakfast spot in Baltimore. Chef Will is a fantastic host and made the dining experience that much more special. Breakfast was delicious and served quickly. Coffee is fantastic and is house blend unique to Saturday Morning Cafe. Grab a bag of coffee before you leave. My family and I come to Baltimore multiple times a year for sporting events and Saturday Morning Cafe will be a required stop for all future trips. Thanks Chef Will and we will see you soon.
