Very nostalgia wonderfully atmosphere and young waiters and waitresses who are working hard for there own college, I would recomend tipping them up and over the usual rate they would appreciate all the help financially that they could get. The owner is a nice fellow and aiming to please his customers, Good Job Red River Cafe, keeping Austin wierd with the 2 large Eggs on the front of the building

A great little diner in a sadly out-of-the way location. They have great tomato soup (about $3), and a breakfast taco thing that is enormous for $4. Their grilled chicken sandwich is also quite good. Looking back, Id say everything Ive ever had here was good. Maybe the food isnt something I actively crave and find myself drawn to, but this place is definitely a great little place to go for some delicious lunch and incredible value.Best part of it being out of the way is you can reliably find parking!

This place stands out of time. It is a hole in the wall to Austin as it once was, before the exponential population rise. An inexpensive time capsule with inordinately friendly staff and service. Sit at the counter and find aid in believing that life is a little simpler than you thought. But dont walk in expecting gourmet food and white tie service, that aint what this place is here for.

This cafe was a nice retreat in the busy city. As typical in Austin, there wasnt a lot of parking, but they do have a lot of their own behind the building which is pretty rare and there were a few spots open on the Sunday morning we visited. The food was delicious- I had (and highly recommend) the french toast. My husband had it with fruit, I chose the eggs and bacon. I will say the service wasnt the best as my husband had to request coffee refills instead of the waiter coming around. The staff werent rude or anything, just not super attentive.

I’ve been looking for a breakfast restaurant like this since I moved here. Amazing food without the hype (and long wait times) of other places in town. The food and coffee are delicious, and the staff is very friendly! It’s at the top of my list for a reasonably priced and satisfying breakfast in Austin!

Im definitely biased on smaller, classic looking cafes and this places aesthetic hooked me. The food was great (I had the Montreal Hollendaise) and the coffee was the perfect standard diner fare. Plus, it seemed a bit cheaper than some other larger chain options. Highly recommend.

Have been going here regularly since I was a student. They have the best breakfast food for reasonable price, especially around UT campus. I come here every weekend now for their great Eggs Benedict. The wait is never that long, even when they look packed. Sometimes they do run out of parking spaces though.

My wife and I arrived about 5pm. There were 4 other people already at the establishment. We sat ourselves and waited... And waited... And waited. The waiter passed us 3 times and completely ignored us not even making eye contact. We were never greeted and when the next couple came in, they were quickly seated and given menus. 12 minutes had passed before my wife and I walked out. Even as we left we there were no goodbyes. Legit, just completely ignored the whole time.

Healthy food, fast, and delicious! Rahim who is the owner cares about his costumers dearly and makes sure that only good food leaves the kitchen. The new design for the cafe is very nice and a great place to go relax. The prices are great and the proportion of the food is good. I highly recommend Red River Cafe a great place to go to if youre a UT student which Im not yet though but The Cafe truly has a lot of great things on the menu. The best part is that breakfast is served all day and that I get to create my own hamburger like you do with a sandwich in Subway.

I had high hopes for this place because it’s so conveniently located but it was less than satisfactory. I ordered eggs Benedict and they were instead over easy and the hashbrowns were pretty charred and hard to eat. The service was pretty slow and we it was unclear who our server was since we had 3 different servers over an hour time span.

I love this place. I probably went at least 2x a month when I was a student at UT Austin, and I think its managed to maintain its quiet charm in the post-brunch-craze era. I get a coffee and migas (with beans), with a side of fruit almost every time I go. For a no-frills place for breakfast with fun and weird staff, go here!

Adorable little place, nice urban patio. Very nice wait staff. But decidely mediocre food. Hash browns were bland, probably frozen. Toast was grocery store quality, eggs were also bland, even with tomatoes and mushrooms. A few herbs and seasonings were definitely needed. My companions pita sandwich was likewise lacking any seasoning. Cheap prices help, but not enough.

We went to eat here while we visiting a relative at the nearby St. David hospital. The food was delicious. I had a vegetarian club, my mom had a grilled cheese with avocado, my brother-in-law had a verse burger and my dad had a a sandwich with some sort of dip. Everything tasted great.

Review №43

The food here is nasty and unseasoned. I order steak, eggs with a side of harsh browns and toast. The steak was chopped steak, it tasted like a hamburger, it was very dry and it had no flavor. On the menu it did not mention it was chopped steak which is false advertisement. Also I asked for scramble eggs, but my eggs were over easy. The hash browns were unseasoned. Dont waste your time or money on coming to this place.

FREEZING! The air and the food. Everyone in here has their coats on except the staff. My food was so cold I had to warm it up in my hands. I had a sandwich but it was practically frozen. The fries were the hottest thing other than the waiters. I hate giving bad reviews but I feel like Im eating outside and its 35 degrees out there at the moment. My boyfriend did like his cobb salad but agreed the temperature was too cold in the dining room.

This is the worst café I have ever been to. Very poor customer service!! The young guy who took our order looked at us like we were stupid when we asked questions regarding the menu. After they dropped off our food, no one stopped to check on us after that. Instead our waiter and another waitress were having a dance party behind the counter. Aside from poor customer service, the food had no flavor and was not cooked very well. I will not be going to the Red River Café again.
