We would always drive by and see it full so we thought, man it’s got to be good. We finally decided to go for our anniversary and our experience wasn’t so great. The skillet potatoes were cold, the sausage and biscuit super hard and I was serve a raw waffle. I asked for another one and at least they made it crispier and inside was fully cooked but the taste was still off I only ate a quarter of it, my husband tried it and did not like the taste at all. The only reason why I’m giving them 2 stars is because the chicken was great and one server apologized and gave me a milkshake she had just made in front of Me.This was my review not too long ago and they contacted me, apologized and gave a me a gift card with a few bucks over what I had spent that day which is why we decided to rate them a bit higher. I am happy with the way they handled this issue and my husband and I decided to give it one more shot so I will be updating after our visit. ThanksWow wow wow guys what a difference! We are so glad we gave it a second chance. My husband and I ordered burgers and we enjoyed every bite and the French fries are fresh and natural. Completely changed our minds!!!! Friendly place, decent food - nice and well made but nothing exceptional. I liked all of it though. Had fried chicken waffles - never tried them before, not really my thing - much prefer fried chicken with savory sides but chicken was pretty good. Portions not overly generous. Had breakfast sandwich on next visit which was also good but nothing exceptional. Can sit outside with your dog and eat which is nice.

Stopped by this popular diner for lunch on a Friday. We had a bit of a wait (because it is popular), and we had a group of eight. However, the service was prompt and attentive once seated and they have an interesting, eclectic menu. I enjoyed the chicken and waffles... They make a bit of a fuss about their waffles! Others enjoyed salads and burgers. My waffle was delicious and chicken was tender, with genuine maple syrup served. All enjoyed their food, the portions were generous and prices are good if not inexpensive. Adult beverages are available. Seating is both indoor and outdoor and parking is available out front...but often full already. You can have curbside pickup food brought to your car, if inclined.

Pretty busy on the weekends so unless you come early there’s likely going to be a wait. The food here is worth the hype and always tastes fresh. Their drinks are also amazing and can even be sold out some mornings! The interior is modern? Industrial? Idk but I like it! The staff can be pretty busy but mostly nice. I’ve only had their breakfast menus so I can’t say much about lunch or dinner. However, I would love to try their lunch and dinner. My favorites on their menu is the french toast, chicken/waffles, and the sweet potato hash. The butter that comes with their waffles is life changing. 🔥🔥🙏🏼They are pretty good about letting you do substitutions. I sometimes like to make vegetarian substitutions and they are cool about it. I really like their veggie sausage made with beets.

Seriously good simple food. New meatloaf sliders are perfectly balanced in their flavors and unexpectedly good. It is exactly the type of thing that starts with a basic or traditional concept but is elevated above heritage. Farm to market and ranch to market are prioritized and promoted. Everything seems well suited for Cholula hot sauce which gets no complaints from me. Prices are a little high but not unexpected for the area. More annoying is dealing with the extremely vanilla new Austin clientele. Neither criticism is the fault of the diner but it is part of the experience.

First look of this place is wonderful as we went around early 9 pm and our waiter was wonderful as my friend and I were indecisive and having more than one item we wanted. As the steak and fries was great but my steak was medium and not medium rare but as the quality and taste of this steak still was wonderful and the fries soaking up the juices, my friend said the 24 Hash was wonderful and was happy she didnt get the large one as this was plenty. The cinnamon roll was very sweet and good, while we were discussing the cinnamon was mixed and figuring out the cinnamon was a jam of raisins or apricot. Everything was wonderful and our waiter had a great personality and answered all of our questions.

Honestly, Im not even an Austin native, I was just visiting for the weekend. I frequently visit Austin and I love trying the local food. 24 Diner? Hands down had one of the best Chicken and Waffles I have ever had. The chicken? Seasoned to perfection. The waffles were super fluffy. The brown sugar butter??? Tasty. The customer service? A1. The prices? Affordable. It was so good I went back the next day and reordered the same thing (this time to go). I think when I visit Austin again, this will be my spot. Where to begin. Firstly the temperature in the restaurant was unbearably cold. Hostess was sweet and offered us a table right away. From there we waited 10 plus minutes to be greeted by a server for drinks. Although once he did arrive he was super sweet. The food was so bad. I had the waffle combo which included eggs and bacon and my boyfriend had the chicken and waffles. We both agreed the waffles were terrible. I don’t understand how they are known for them. They were hard, dry, heavy and the flavor was weird. My boyfriend’s fried chicken was probably the worst I’ve ever tasted. It was bland and tasted of flour. I couldn’t even bother having more than just a few bites of my meal. I left there still hungry and very unsatisfied with the entire experience but more so the food. To top it off I was shocked at the hefty bill we were presented with. $55 for two standard diner meals and a Diet Coke. Definitely will not come back here. I wish I knew our servers name because he was the only redeeming factor out of the entire experience and the hostess.

I used to love 24 diner. This time was a nightmare, the service at the front desk and server was rude and unwelcoming. When getting the food my order was wrong. I order extra items that never came. I normally go for the hash but today hash was mushy potatoes instead of more crispy ones like in the past. I dont know if it was a off day or the changed the dish. Then we were all so excited for the famous cinnamon rolls.. I took a bite of the middle of the roll, it was raw. I am hoping it was just a off day because I used to tell everyone it was my favorite breakfast in Austin.

Ordered the Pulled Chicken with Avocado Sandwich (highly recommend) and Waffle Breakfast. The Waffle was a little on the tougher side. The manager came over and asked if something was wrong with the waffle we told him it was a little tough he explained that this was a Belgium waffle which typically has a tougher texture and asked if we wanted to trade for anything else or a new waffle. We declined and just said we were okay with the order. He was very courteous and ended up removing the charge for the waffle without us asking. The waffle flavor was not bad and I assume some people enjoy this Belgium waffle it just wasnt our type of taste. Overall good service and food and the way the manager behaved with us made me feel very appreciated as a customer. I would definitely recommend.

If you’re visiting or on vacation, don’t waste a meal coming here. Definitely was not worth it. The menu was really small and the 2 dishes we did order we’re not impressive at all. It was definitely not worth the amount of money that we dropped her. On top of that, we ordered two drinks that came at the END of our meal. I’ve Heard a lot of good things about this place but wasn’t super impressed during my visit.I had the fried chicken sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. I also tried to order an espresso milkshake but the milkshake machine was broken this day. (I’m not really counting this against them because I understand this kinda thing happens every once in a while. I suppose it doesn’t win them any points either.)The chicken sandwich was just mediocre with the bun being a bit dry and the flavor of the chipotle remoulade not really going well with the rest of the sandwich. I applaud trying to do something different with a classic but it didn’t really work in this instance. The Mac and cheese was pretty bland. Fries were not bad but were pretty standard. My girlfriend was disappointed with her waffles being hard on the outside yet stodgy on the inside and I had taste of hers before agreeing. For what it’s worth my friend who frequents this place said the waffles he’s used to being served are much better.I’d like to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that they were just having an off day but I don’t believe I’ll be back anytime to find out for certain. This is a very cozy restaurant with good food and very friendly service. The staff is amazing, very attentive and polite, you get well taken care of here. Ive only eaten here for lunch+dinner, never breakfast, so I cant speak to that experience. While the food is good, it doesnt quite live up to its price point, with the exception of the desserts and the milkshakes. I had a $17 burger and while it was tasty, it was no where near good enough to justify the cost. Ive had significantly better burgers around the $12-14 price range. This was my experience with the rest of the dishes Ive tried. Tasty, but not worth the cost of around $20 per dish. The desserts however are well priced, especially in terms of portions. On weekends you can get a truly massive cinnamon roll, easily big enough for two. The other desserts have similarly large portions. And the milkshakes here are too good to pass up.There is a bar inside and well priced beer on tap, making this a great place to go get a beer and a snack. They have cheaply priced sandwiches on the menu, an exception to the otherwise high prices.I mentioned the staff briefly in the intro but they deserve a more robust praise. They are the reason I keep going back despite the pricing. The servers themselves are very friendly, but where 24 really shines is the staff behind the bar. I always have a good time chatting with them while watching a football game and eating. Very friendly folks, who are great at what they do.4/5 stars, my chief complaint being unwarranted high prices for the dinner entrees; my main praises being the staff and the milkshakes.

I read the rave reviews, all about the $20 “hearty meatloaf”. Disclaimer: I made the mistake of not taking a photo of the “hearty meatloaf”. Why? I was in shock & awe at the size or lack of it… of this so called “hearty meatloaf”. 😱😱😱I was served 1 thin slice on a standard size round plate. Positioned dead center of the plate. The serving was so small that it was mostly plate. To be honest, a McDonalds quarter pound burger is larger. Underneath there were whipped potatoes and braised greens. There was so little of the potatoes and greens that the “slice” covered the “child” size portion. The meatloaf itself, good. Is it hearty… NO. Is it worth the price point of 20… NO. C’mon meatloaf is literally ground beef, one of the cheapest cuts of meat. Don’t even ask me to cost ingredients… long story short, I wouldn’t recommend this place. Not worth the money. You can have better meatloaf at Dennys…

We had a guy waiter (Israel) I believe is what the name appears on my receipt. Im not 100% sure this is his actual name though.Either way, what started as an nice brunch/early dinner breakfast for the misters special day, turned out to be a horrible experience. The waiter took our order and literally forgot about us the entire time. He stayed outside chatting with a table of girls the majority of our visit at the diner. We had a nice lady (food runner) deliver our food and a nice waiter who was helping his own tables (the guy in a pink shirt) assist with our refill requests, our food order, etc. Our waiter came back once after about 30 minutes of being outside, (trust me I time it), to ask if we needed anything. We said sure, some more coffee. He said okay and went right back outside and never returned with coffee. I felt this establishment had a decent vibe other than the poor service. The waiter did come back about another 30 minutes later to inform us he was leaving and that the girls at that table outside were needy and kept calling form him. He did not apologize for his absence, he merely stated he was done for the day and clocked out. I wanted to escalate this issue to the manager, but my fiance was not interested in waiting anymore time in the diner. We paid and left. The food was okay other than the experience we encountered.

Staff was friendly, food was beyond amazing . Prices were affordable, and the vibe was excellent. Felt right at home and the hush puppies were to die for . The biscuit chicken sandwich was cooked perfectly . The biscuits and gravy wasn’t too heavy like other restaurants. Overall good experience

Well 3 stars is middle of the road rating. The service was great. The restaurants decor and ambiance was on point. Early Sunday morning peaceful. My Chicken and Waffles exceeded my palate. However, my wifes eggs were undercooked (raw) so she didnt finish nor had an appetite for anything else. The staff made it right by removing from ticket. We will be back.
