This is my go-to computer store. If you need a new computer an old computer, you need your current computer cleaned or upgraded they can do it. Need a new keyboard? Mouse? Headset? Speakers? They have it all. Monitors from various sizes and brands. Desktops and laptops from various sizes and brands. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, plus the store is super rad. I definitely recommend anyone who lives in the area or even visiting outside the area to come and check out this iconic store.

Am dropping this review with passion and sincerity. The I.T guy in my state office couldnt help out despite spending an hour on my laptop but stepping my feet at discount electronics, Anderson. Am glad to meet a cool guy walking to me with a smile. He said, how can we help you today, sir. In my mind I was thinking he will be the same kind of I.T I just left in my office. Brandon fixed my computer in like 5 minutes and was so nice about it. I could have spent all day finding a USB to ethernet adapter, searching for the correct driver to reinstall my wifi capability, but I did not have the patience. He just did it. So easy. Will return.

Ive done business with these folks many times and I always get great advice and reliable service. Theyve saved my bacon with data recovery issues and helped me make sound decisions about whether to repair or replace gear. Today, Tim even helped me figure out how to replace the battery in my UPS power supply system (a device they dont even service) without laughing when it turned out to be an incredibly simple process (I had looked for a manual online instead of a YouTube video to show me what to do - facepalm - doh!)Thanks Tim!

My desktop locked me out & bills were coming due, emails piling up--scary! So called, talked with Tim; he said bring it in. When I got there, he bypassed the passwords block and voila! I have purchased a laptop from their online site and had hoped to possibly pick up another computer while in the store. Unfortunately, the in-store computers are of no better quality than the on-line. There also was a lack of organization to the store, stacks of computers some randomly placed and others locked up. It was difficult to navigate and find what I was needing.

This is a GREAT place! Extremely knowledgeable. They had been recommended to me by a friend. I live near Dripping Springs and I traveled there for a problem with my laptop not responding, an issue I could not figure out. I was in the middle of an important project and very stressed. Brandon asked me to show him what I was experiencing. He figured it out very quickly, it was a configuration issue, not sure how I caused it, but he was able to fix it immediately!! PHEW! This is the second time I have driven to this location, with an issue on my previous laptop. They are top notch and for me, so worth the trip.

I was in the market for a new lap top but thought Id see what Discount Electronics had to offer and I was very impressed. Went there today to ask how to get my HP laptop to project to two monitors. Told them the type of laptop and ports it had-he assured me the $25 cable he recommended would work as long as I have a USB-C port.Got home. Doesn’t work. Apparently there are different generations of USB-C ports and not all support video output. Can’t get my money back because they only offer store credit - obviously a policy because these situations likely occur often. If I would have known my own Google search would have been more useful than the confident guy working there, I would have ordered from Amazon.

I was looking for a good laptop but had no way to visit the shop in person. So Jozef Medina helped me pick out one online. The laptop runs great and comes with most applications that I may need. This laptop will serve me well for years and I am glad I obtained my computer here.

I have been a customer of the north Austin store since their inception. I have bought many computers and parts and have had more repaired. Kris has been there longer than most and he has the best customer service skills I’ve seen. I have always gotten 110% satisfaction out of that location, and have had numerous devices delivered, and always have had the same great CS. I recommend then to everyone I know.

Good deals, but buyer beware. When you go to the laptop manufacturers website, and it says this model is not compatible with Windows 10, maybe you shouldnt be selling them with it installed.

I came in bound-and-determined to buy a new lap top after my cat chewed through my laptop charger. Tim was incredibly helpful and helped me dig through a barrel of chargers to find the kind that would fit my computer. Then he patiently took me through the specs of every laptop on the floor until we found the right one for me. And we did. A couple years ago this was an incredible place to do business with. They answered the phone and gave you great information. I am guessing some entity bought them out. Because they are horrible to deal with now. I bought a laptop. It did not work when it got here. I was on email with tech servicesFor 3 hours. It was still not working. I sent it back for a refund. After 2 weeks still no word from them.

These guys are amazing. They always have great customer service at the South Austin Location, but this is the first time I have been to Anderson Lane. I was amazed!!!! Rio helped me out and he found exactly what I was looking for. I had online shopped and knew what I needed but in the store he knew exactly what I was looking for and where to find it. His customer service skills from that point on where just phenomenal. I needed to install a new operating system and hard drive to customize the computer to my spec. He literally RAN to get the hard drive and told me a time for the OS installation. I left the store because it was going to take a little bit of time and when I returned he had already rung up the transaction. He remembered my face (even though i was wearing a mask) and had a total ready for me before I even entered the store. I love Discount electronics and I will be back for sure.

I went in there very frustrated with my purchase and walked out extremely happy with the service. Bought a tablet that ended up not working well but was just out of the warranty. They offered to replace it with a better one for just $25 more...then just did an even swap! Chris and the online sales department folks were very helpful.

The first time I went into DE was maybe Nov 2020, just to check the place out. I met Tim, and he was super helpful and friendly, and may have a bit of an OG vibe. I wasnt ready to purchase, so he wrote his name on a store business card and gave it to me. He informed me that I could order online, but Im not particularly knowledgeable with regard to computers/tech, and find that tedious. I kept his card with the express intention of coming back to him to help me find the right computer for me, because he made a good impression. So finally, I came back about 5 months later, called ahead to make sure hed be available, stopped by between breaks at my job, and within a few (20-25) minutes I was walking out with a laptop that does everything I may need it to do. He made sure the buttons and such all felt right, and that I wasnt going overboard with tech/hardware I wouldnt really need.. and reminded me to keep my receipt for tax season, since Ill mostly be using my laptop for that reason. He thought it would be a 10 day wait, but after a quick look, he fixed it in about 10 minutes, at no charge!! I was very pleased with Tims manner and patients. Stopped by yesterday and was greeted by a staff member not wearing a mask during this pandemic. There was another staff member without one. City ordinance is in place for the wearing of masks. A state district judge denied the state’s request to quash a local order allowing officials to keep enforcing mask-wearing in Austin and Travis County.

Came in to the store today to see if they could help me with my laptop after Bust Buy said they couldnt help me because it is more than 5 years old. These guys had my computer for a solid month and didnt even bother to look at it. Look, I understand we had a storm and blah blah blah. I brought the computer in BEFORE the storm. That excuse isnt flying with me. I wasnt in a hurry. First two weeks of no response. Sure, fine, whatever. But a month! Unbelievable. Theres no excuse for this kind of bad service.

Their staff know their stuff too. They will also troubleshoot and repair hardware for very fair prices compared to other places. You know what youre getting with Discount Electronics, great deals with an ironclad warranty that they stand behind with a solid reputation.

Refurbished junk. you get what you pay for. I thought I was getting a custom built laptop at a good price. Instead I got a bunch of used parts rammed together. I inherited the previous owners buggy software issues. The warranty lasts one year. Three months after warranty expires the disk has an error and now I have a paper weight instead of a computer.

Tim was awesome and very helpful. Even opened a card reader for us to make sure it would fit our compact flash card from an old Boss BR-900cd digital recording studio to pull some old music. 10/10

Got a Dell laptop battery replaced. The 1st one didnt work, they got another one from stock and it was good to go. Glad they tried it in my laptop before I left as it is almost an hour drive home. So, good price and customer service. I recommend these guys.
