Fun! We spent quite a while here checking out all of the fun candies we loved from our childhoods, along with some new stuff weve never seen. Careful, though - those bags of candy add up fast in poundage but are totally worth it for the mix and ability try so many different things. We were like kids in a candy store...in a candy store with our kid! The truffles are wonderful, as were the other chocolate covered goodies weve tasted. Still havent tried everything we brought home - its the gift that keeps on giving, especially if youre like me and can only enjoy a piece or 2 at a time without getting a sugar overload. The shakes and ice cream were delish as expected (Blue Bell products), and everyone that entered seemed to enjoy themselves. Friendly, helpful staff is always the icing on the cake. If you have some free time and need something to look at, this is your place, sweet tooth or not!

This place is magical. This place comes complete with a real soda bar, Ice cream, pop corn, great tunes that set the perfect ambiance and of course, all the candy you can think of in one place! Don’t forget to get your positive energy in a can. Go check them out! Totally recommend.

Super cool candy store with huge selection of nostalgic and imported candies. Very cool early 1900s Barnum and Bailey circus themeing. Theres a soda jerk there named Powers who makes a wicked sour drink for anyone whose into sour stuff! Coolest candy store Ive come across.

My family & I were in Austin this past weekend & stopped here. The minute you walk in you are taken back in time. Staff is friendly even make sodas & Floats from scratch. Lady behind the counter was talking a Big Game about being the best in Austin & she backed it up Dr Pepper & Coke Float were AMAZING!!!

Very nice Candy Wonderland, all the usuals plus some rare types of candy you wont find at the usual candy store. Worth it to come in and just browse around.

Not impressed. Went out of our way for this adventure into candy crazy. Soooo much to choose from, but sooooo pricey. For example, not so special candies like Milk Duds, Swedish Fish etc were slightly over three times the price. We enjoy quirky fun things and places, but we also like to enjoy partaking in more than atmosphere and surroundings, we would like to purchase items at a reasonable price.

Bartender and Manager were super friendly, funny, and knowledgeable of the products.Its always a good time at Big Top! Its definitely one of my top ten spots in Austin 🍭🍬🍫

Weve never been to Big Top, but it was our daughters 3rd birthday today and we wanted to take her somewhere cool since we skipped a party this year (thanks, COVID). We loved the balance of classic candy and new candy! Our two kids had a blast picking out all kinds of stuff.When we got to the counter, the workers were so patient and kind! When we told them we were there as a birthday treat, they gave our daughter a free scoop of ice cream. Everything was so delicious! Well definitely be coming back to satisfy any future sweet tooth cravings!

Loved this spot. My family and I was visiting from Houston and we came across this candy store. Very old fashioned but very awesome. The staff is very very friendly and respectful. You can find different kinds of candy here and crazy soda pop flavors. I highly recommend this candy store.

This brings back all the memories as a kid of going and getting candy. All of my favorites in one place. I cant get enough. Perfect stop when walking SoCo, grab a little treat, some ice cream and youll enjoy the walk even more.

Amazing selection of sweets from times past and the present. Helpful, friendly staff and a wonderful atmosphere to boot. Their selection is unrivaled. My kids especially loved it.

Fantastic staff but the crafted yummies were a bit off. My son who lives on cookies took one bite of a character cookie n actually threw it.. flung it away lol The truffles and chocolate covered marshmallows had such a thick coating of low grade chocolate they werent palatable. Stick to the typical candies and enjoy the stores atmosphere n staff.

Whenever I’m out on south Congress, I always have to swing through this shop. While I don’t have the biggest sweet tooth, I always feel like a kid again when I go in. Even though it’s just for gummy bears. Plus the adorable little tattooed girl that works there is always so pleasant to talk to. 10/10 would recommend.

Hello sweet lovers. This is a great place to come get your sugar fix. They have a big selection of all kinds of treats. There is a lot to choose from. If you like gummi bears theres a favor for everyone. They even have the boozy variety. Did I forget to mention that they also have popcorn and ice cream for sale. It has that nice old fashioned feel inside. But all the up to date candy,bubble gum, taffy, and a whole lot more. Come on in and get your candy on!Shot out to Good golly. Ms. Molly. You were a tremendous help and I cant thank you enough. My nieces wedding was a success. All the candy was eaten or packed off. It was an amazing day it wouldve been perfect if it werent for the rain.

Such a fun place for a quick sugar rush. Not outrageously priced. Clean, happy friendly people there. They service Blue bell ice cream. Fresh and homemade fudge can be found on back counter. All kinds of different types of candies. Bulk and single items for sell.

Lots and I mean TONS of sweets to choose from. Great place for us kids of the 1970s to find our favorites. Odd stuff too like flavored crickets and scorpion lollipops. Egg Creams and other desert drinks available. Cool place to checkout

I was so excited to bring my candy loving little boy here and he absolutely loved the store. He wanted to get one of everything lol! They have a great variety of things and it has such a fun theme to it. The taffy in the front of the store isn’t the best I’ve had but it was still good. They were very busy when I went but we got checked out quickly. The worst thing was parking! The area was very busy at the time so we had a hard time finding somewhere to park but it was dinner time so next time we will just come earlier in the day.

Awesome candy store. They have a ton of variety. Not the biggest chocolate case, but they offer some more unique items like chocolate covered honey combs.

Went there with my 4 month old puppy in a stroller. I didnt see the tiny sign at the door - it was literally the size of a 3x3 post it & hand written at that - that said no strollers on weekends and no pets... (I completely understand the no pets near food; it slipped my mind while I walked in) I literally walked in right after someone who had her baby in a stroller yet the store associate (or owner) made a bee line for me and said I had to leave because no strollers or pets were allowed. Why didnt she ask the woman who came in with her baby in a stroller? Could it perhaps be because that woman with a baby was white and I was not? Her stroller was way bigger than mine. I come to Austin frequently to celebrate special occasions and weve been to this shop multiple times but this was the first time I had such an experience. Dont think Ill come back to Big Top... not Austin-level customer service.

This place is pretty cool. They dont have a lot of old fashioned candy. The salt water taffy is pretty good. Like the old pictures and instruments on the wall. Had a vanilla malt with whipped cream and a cherry on top. Best ever! A lot of crazy sodas. If you want a slushy, many favors to choose from. Pay for everything at the cash register. They are fast at getting your order. Very expensive place. The malt made it worth while.

Big Top is a must stop when visiting SoCo. The staff are very friendly and the selection is huge! During the pandemic, hours are limited, so its best to call before you make the trip. Ice cream and soda fountain service is not available during this time, but there is a lot of other goodies to choose from! Due to the limit of persons allowed in the store, when you are in the store you arent bounced around from it being crowded. It was very nice to have the run of the store!

Nestled among toy and hat shops, boutiques, bistros, artisan markets, live music, and more in the funky SoCo (South Congrrss) section of downtown Austin.

My 14 year old son and I drove down to South Congress on a late Saturday afternoon (to get out of the house!). We live in the Crestview neighborhood of Austin. Apparently, they recently opened at 100% capacity post~Covid. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way for asking if we were happy with our visit. My son got an old fashioned fountain cola soda, served with cherry and gummy bear. I purchased a weighed out assortment of gummy candy (cola bottles, gummy strawberries, orange chews and one chili pepper gummy for good measure!). All was good, what sticks out was the above and beyond friendly service.Thank you & Happy 4th!!:~)~Scott

We came down to Congress Ave just to visit this candy store, and it was a really fun experience. Our family in Austin has visited before, and were the ones who brought us. The kids had fun looking at all the candy.

This is a very fun place! Loved the variety. The old big top feel. You will spend a lot if you are not careful, but the gummy things are not overpriced, and are funny shapes and tasty too! Just go, youll love it!!!

The cutest soda shop you will find, especially in the area. Full blown nostalgic setting with candy and fuge by the pound, packaged new and old candies. I also order an Italian creme soda and wasnt let down. Will make this a regular stop.

I would have given them 5 stars, but unfortunately the staff was kind of rude. My daughter has an anemia and it was hot out so she went to take a sip of water under her mask and the staff yelled at her across the store. I was not happy with that approach.They were out of a lot of the candy options. No fault of their own. Other than the staff they have some of the old school candies that are pretty interesting to the kiddos and neat to check out.

Threatened to call the cops on my family because, I didn’t have a mask. Yet they would not provide one. What kind of business doesn’t take care of their cuatomers. It’s ok for kids to not wear masks but, oh no, an adult has to wear one. Educate yourselves on the issues and be proactive when dealing with your customers.

I love this place. Old school floats and shaved ice. My guilty pleasure is the salt water taffy. I can walk out with a plastic shopping bag full and not even care. I bought some fudge for the first time and Im looking forward to enjoying and sharing their goodness.I implore anyone considering a visit to just go and enjoy yourself.I also feel compelled to mention how awesome of a person Sophie is - in addition to the rest of the staff being really great to interact with. Sophie stands out and she deserves to be mentioned.

Great candy store with large selection of bulk and packaged candy. They also have ice cream and old school soda fountain. Kids could spend hours looking through all the candy. They also sell Haleycake cookies as well.

After watching The Bucket List show on TV where Big Top candy shop was featured we had to make the drive. My kids were in heaven and I was like a kid in a candy shop....lol. We bought 120.00 in Candy and drinks. My favorite is the chocolate covered bacon. I Was very pleased with the Covid-19 guidelines that they inforced that made it a much better experience.You have to visit the most peculiar Candy store in Texas.
