Amazing shop! A vintage audio enthusiasts dream! Very well organized compared to other places of the same type. I got my “new” Pioneer CS-99A FB vintage speakers there and I couldn’t be happier. They were willing to flex on the price a little, so that made me happy. I will definitely use them in the future for any home audio purchases I make. A+

This is THE place to go for vintage audio equipment. I purchased my turntable and receiver from them over 4 years ago and absolutely love it! Disregard the only review with a one star rating. If you dive into this persons other reviews, youll find he gives everything one star. Go visit the guys at Sound Gallery!

Easily one of the best stores on the planet. I love old school hi-fi, but even if that’s not your thing, it’s like a museum. There is literally something for everyone. My teen kids loved it as did my wife. It’s great to see a store filled with quality audio and vintage items. If they still have the gold and glass key topped Smith-Corona typewriter, you need to check it out! I bought a killer vintage Techniques turntable here, and when the guy who helps you is named Robert Johnson, well, do you need more?

I walked in as a vinyl-curious newbie. The guys here are super knowledgeable and inviting. I went in looking for an entry-level setup, and they were great at explaining what I can get for different price ranges. They seem to be really passionate audiophiles, and were glad to demo any equipment. Of course after hearing different setups, I ended up spending a good bit more than originally anticipated, but quality speakers and amps sell themselves. I never felt pressured. I browsed their extensive vinyl collection while they readied my new gear. They helped me load all the gear into my car as well. I’m over the moon with my home stereo setup now. If you’re a music fan, a good vinyl setup is worth the investment. It’s like hearing the music for the first time. I’ll definitely be back should I want to upgrade in the future, or buy some new records. I would absolutely recommend this place to friends as well!

Great little jewel of a shop selling vinyl and vintage stereo equipment. Old school vibe. The kicker is their barista bar in the back. Robert knows his vintage gear and is very helpful and willing to pass along info freely. I picked up a pair of old Mirage speakers from him, and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase.

The staff is one of the most knowledgeable and helpful in Austin when it comes to stereo equipment. This is the kind of service you just cant get online. This weekend I purchased an upgraded cartridge for my turntable. It was less expensive than I anticipated so I had plenty of cash left over to choose a couple of records from their well curated selection.

Best selection anywhere in Texas or anywhere really but the equipment is expensive . I have to be fair so I had to go back and rewrite the review .The owner is a nice guy and knows his equipment . I was ready to not only rewrite my review but also rate him 5 stars but his comments towards my opinion gets him 4 stars .You will experience you knees buckle when you see the huge selection . I had to rewrite this review because the worst I can say about The sound gallery is they are expensive but then so is the rent, insurance and the cost of living .Buying Vintage audio equipment is always a risk, you want to buy it from a known source . Someone that you trust and will see again .If you are visiting Austin you owe it to yourself to stop in at least talk to the guy and buy a cup of coffee if they still do that . I havent been there in a while .There is like five areas; the entrance area, main area, speaker hall, turntable room and telephone typewriter room and vinyl everywhere.Another edit, the owner as you can see from his reply is having issues understanding what I am trying to say . . Im saying this is a place you can trust with a large inventory and a knowledgeable staff . Buying is a risk and this is why you should buy your equipment here at sound gallery because they will be here . I dont have an issue with the equipment I purchased because I havent purchased any yet but when I do I have no problems with the quality . The price is on the high end but so is the location .Summary the prices are high but so is everything in Austin . The location is ideal the inventory and the quality it top notch and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable . When I have a complaint with the quality of an item I purchased trust me you will hear it from me first.

These guys are great. I got my first record player for my birthday and they helped me get set up with speakers and an preamp but I didnt feel taken advantage of. They are super helpful but not in a creepy car salesmen type of way and were by far the best of the 3 record places I visited that day. Ill definitely do all of my shopping there!

They were amazing! My daughter broke her record player and was very frustrated. We went to The Sound Gallery with the broken player this morning. They diagnosed the problems, repaired them and explained to her what caused the problems. They showed her how to secure the arm for transport and how to remove the needle cover once we were home. We were in and out in thirty minutes.5 stars!

My wife and I went to the Sound Gallery with a yearning to get back into vinyl. Not knowing much, our experience could have gone many different ways.Luckily, not only did they know exactly what we needed, they couldn’t have made us feel more comfortable. They didn’t try to up sell us something we didn’t need, nor did they make us feel stupid, as we’ve experienced at other record shops. And, they assembled every component of the system we purchased to ensure we’d have the optimal experience. If you’re wanting to get back into vinyl, go to the Sound Gallery and enjoy!

This place is top notch! I bought a new turntable from them recently. The player ended having some sort of manufacture defect and wouldn’t hold a speed correctly. They offered to replace it, but I told them I was apprehensive about it since it was an “off brand” only they carry. They were very understanding and offered to replace my player with one their more familiar brands.Along with that experience, the guys there have been nothing but helpful every time I come in or have questions about the equipment they have. Like I said, top notch!Sound Gallery also has an great selection of records across a range of genres, and some very cool one-of-kind records sprinkled in the mix.If you’re an audiophile, you’re going to love this place!

Sound Gallery for the win!! Back in December I ventured out to the Sound Gallery after reading positive reviews on Next-door.My husband wanted a record player for Christmas and admittedly I dont know much about them and hadnt used one in 20+ years. Sound Gallery is owned by 2 brothers who are super helpful. Richard (?) I believe, was extremely helpful in explaining the different types of players and speakers and helping me find a combo that fit within the budget. Not to mention their selection of vinyl is amazing!! They even had an original copy of a Peoples Temple Album! What the what?!! So awesome! In addition, about a month after buying the new record player, the sound quality became distorted. We took the player back and Richard thoroughly took a look at it and concluded that it was a defective player and gladly replaced it on the spot! Talk about great customer service!I had previously visted another local vinyl store and was totally unimpressed with the (lack of) customer service I experienced there. All the kids working there were on their phones and unwilling to help a newby like me. So glad that we found the Sound Gallery!

This place is like heaven for a vintage audio equipment collector, audiophile, or vinyl lover. I have traveled around, and I have never seen anything like this place provides. Beautiful, clean, rows of mint turntables, vintage amps, and vinyl. Knowledgeable staff helped me out with my vintage Reverb amp. Great place. Will definitely be back for a purchase in the near future.

I went to Sound Gallery because I was ready to invest in a quality turntable. I was extremely impressed by the selection of vintage turntables, receivers and speakers. They also offer select new turntables and speakers which is helpful. First impression was that this is an audiophile’s dream. We spent almost 2 hours with Sebastian, an extremely helpful and knowledgeable member of their staff. He showed me options in my general price range and demoed several of them, some multiple times so I could really appreciate the differences and nuances between the turntables and their cartridges. He answered all of my questions and dropped some serious knowledge regarding the mechanics of turntables. Ultimately we ended up going with a vintage Yamaha turntable and a new set of Yumi speakers. I can’t say enough about how impressed I was by the store and the staff. When we were having trouble with a tone arm adjustment a day later, I called the store up and they told me to bring my turntable back in. When I got there they helped me carry it in and member of the staff, Enzo, immediately began working to adjust the needed components to get everything running smoothly. I’m in LOVE with my new setup. This shop sells quality audio equipment and is willing to go the extra mile to make sure you are all set and that you understand exactly how everything works, which being fairly new to turntables, receivers, etc. was huge for me. I will definitely be going back to them for any further purchases and can’t thank them enough for helping me pick out the perfect setup.

Had an issue with my Rega P3-24 TT running slow. Gave them a call since I wasnt sure they did repairs. Explained the problem. Sure, Bring it down and well have a look for you. Impressed from the moment I walked in the door. Tons of vintage gear of all types and price ranges.Ted took the platter off, removed the sub-platter, cleaned the spindle, and put a drop of oil on the bearing and reassembled. He mentioned the belt might be worn but he didnt have a replacement in stock but gave me a tip on a work around. No charge. They have a vast selection of vinyl and I spotted a record of interest on the way out so I had an explore before I left. Seemed to be virtually all new sealed copies, some even appeared to be original issues. Picked up a Lee Dorsey album and walked away a happy camper.Ill for sure be back and would highly recommend Sound Gallery for any audiophile or vinyl needs.

There is no other place like the sound gallery, it defies categorization. The Sound Gallery is a vinyl shop, audio store, and coffee shop all rolled into one. Ive been a customer here for over the past 5 years, Ive purchased vintage receivers, an SAE amplifier, Technics turntable, Grado headphones, Klipsch speakers, 2 sets of new Kanto powered speakers and hundreds of vinyl records from them over the years. Every piece of vintage stereo equipment Ive purchased there has been in perfect condition and is still running today. Ive never had a single problem or issue with anything that Ive purchased from the sound gallery. Also, considering that everything was refurbished and cosmetically clean I feel that the pricing is extremely fair. The days of buying vintage stereo equipment at garage sale prices are over, and Im not interested in haggling with someone I dont know on ebay. When you buy a piece of vintage stereo equipment from these guys you know exactly what you are getting! The store is clean and all the equipment is professionally displayed, unlike some other establishments Ive been to. The staff is extremely professional, courteous, and helpful. Finally, The Sound Gallery has one of the best selections of quality vinyl records in town. If you have not yet visited this store you owe to yourself to do so.
