This used to be the best thrift store in town; the prices are about triple what they used to be, and the selection isnt near as good. Used to come here for two hours and leave with twenty things for $60, now I come for fifteen minutes and leave with four things for $60. If it was just a thrift store, it would be 2 stars, but I do love that it supports the shelter. Sad that it isnt what it used to be, but it got a lot worse very quickly.
I found everything I was looking for and more. Plus I just happened in during the half off sale!! What luck!
Always fun to visit and every time I go they seem to have a fresh new supply of clothes.
Great finds! Decent prices. Its a little small and product is everywhere, but if you are willing to sift through the product you can find real gems. They even have a boutique section!
Wow -- I was really surprised! Theres so much variety here. Its pretty awesome! And goes to a great cause 🐶😸
Super cute but not a lot of bigger sizes available. My friend did get a couple dresses that are more of a size 14 or 16 so you just have to look.
I stopped into this thrift store for the first about 30 minutes before it closed. I wish I came in earlier. I completely underestimated how cool it would be! First thing, the shop was very organized and easy to navigate. Secondly, the pricing structure is the best! Every type of article of clothing has a different price. For example, all shirts/tops are $5. All shoes are $8... Etc. And there are some really amazing finds. Remember, all of these proceeds are going to Austin Pets Alive! So naturally, all the volunteers are great people who love animals.I got a considerabally large amount of stuff after only being there for 30 minutes. And all I was thinking was how I found a new Austin thrift gem, and I didnt want to tell any of my friends about it... So I could keep it to myself as long as possible. But thats just silly, because the clothes rotates so quickly. And again, 100% of the proceeds go to animals in need!! Instead of going to Goodwill or ...any other thrift store, for that matter. Donate and shop here! Not just for the animals, but for your own closet as well :)
If youre in the 2nd hand market, try pets alive first and save some adorable animals!
This place is great. They have amazing unique finds, and great everyday stuff too. I scored this vintage 1950s letter jacket, from Travis High School, as well as a vintage wool WW2 Nurses Cape. My only complaint - they used to have a plus size rack, and now its all mixed in. Id really like them to bring it back, its a bummer looking through racks of clothes and getting your hopes up in an attempt to find one thing that will maybe fit.
Found some nice art and a cool jacket there. Good prices too.
The BEST thrift store!!! Like the old days.Honestly affordable and run by volunteers and you get the bonus of hanging out w whatever dog is hanging out. (I think peaches has finally accepted me).You can feel good donating bc you’re actually helping little critters that need love. They prob can’t handle big items so be considerate and ask them first. COVID UPDATE- prob can’t use dressing rooms but they let you return. They got some money to stay open!!! Not sure they take donations for a while and they really need you to ask them when and how to drop off.THEY DO THIS TO HELP little creatures who need love. AND YOU WILL FIND CRAZY DEALS.I just hope they don’t get all over excited and price me out. Sometimes I just go to sit near peaches, she doesn’t suffer fools easily so it boosts my confidence.
Love this store. Alot of great deal.
Shopping at APA Thrift is THE BEST. Its a win win. Great deals for YOU, shopping for secondhand items is great for the environment, and most importantly, all net profits go directly to support the wonderful organization that is Austin Pets Alive! You can find some unreal deals at APA Thrift. Their products are carefully curated. I found a 1996 model white Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer at this store with all original attachments, in excellent working condition for $59!!! I also purchased an entire winter wardrobe here for $60. Including boots, sweaters, and soooo many tops. This Oltorf location is extremely well organized. They have a great little boutique section for women so be sure to check that out.I make it a point to donate all of my best clothing and housewares to APA Thrift instead of trying to sell on Poshmark, Ebay, etc. The animals are worth it.
There are so many great finds here, and the staff is super nice!
Help those babies!! Love this quaint little store. It has the best little oddities but most of all it helps those pets in need
5 stars for Peaches! Great selection, at fair prices too.
Great down to earth very Austiny
I love coming to the South Austin Pets Alive Thrift store as well! Occasionally they will bring in adoptable dogs to pet while you shop which is extra special. Their jewelry selection is great at this location and is also well organized. Definitely stop by!
This has to be one of the best thrift shops in Austin. South of the river in one of Austins newest trending locations. Everything in this new shop is a find, because they sort threw the donations and pick out the gems. But even better than the gems is the price of them. Name brands, some new with tags still on them. Antiquities and other appliances. Jewelry and paintings. And the volunteer staff are the nicest, most helpful, welcoming, smiling with cheerful dispositions.
I stop to shop every time I drop off a donation. I always find a couple of gems to bring home at rock bottom prices. Its like an indoor garage sale! The store environment is very Austin and I often receive promotional emails from APA! Thrift for even greater savings. And knowing that all of the profits go towards Austin Pets Alive! is just a win-win for me!!
Excellent selection, great prices, and great service! Plus you have an option to donate a tip to the shelter when you pay! I will definitely be back.
I sure do miss Oliver. He was so nice to the customers. Also, ever since he left prices have gone up. Specially the nicer things. Things dont have to be so expensive, good grief, its all donated!
Been thrift shopping for over 20 years and this gem of a place has some STEALS at both locations! The selection isnt huge, but the prices more than make up for it (seriously dirt cheap!) and the clientele and staff are super friendly. Easy parking at both locations. I love the kind staff (and Miss Sweets) the most. Ive donated AND shopped here and I will continue to. I love that it is helping the animals as well (APA!). Thank you!
Great place to find a variety of clothes, household items and all the while giving back to the lifesaving efforts to keep Austin a no kill city. I cant recommend this place enough. If you ever need help finding anything just ask, they always have lots of additional items in the back that there isnt room for out on the floor!
Love this place! The money they raise goes to a good cause so please donate and buy from them. The staff is always friendly and helpful.
Tiny, but full of great finds. It looks and feels like a curated thrift store but the prices are really good! Plus you get to help out a fantastic organization. Cant wait to go back!
Usually enjoy coming to this store. We believe in the cause they support and we have always found something odd or quirky to bring home. Sunday was no different in what we found, however the service we had was hurtful. The older gentleman behind the counter got visibly upset when my wife changed her mind about purchasing the shorts she had chosen. He told her, not asked, but told her to put them back and proceeded to hand the shorts over. Confused, my wife went back to where she found them, all the while the man was watching her, and not ringing up my purchase in the mean time. After she came back, he then promptly put a hanger in her hand and said “now put them on the hanger”. At this point I should have walked away from the purchase, but as I’ve said, we know the cause is a good one. Understandably customers change their mind last minute, but we are customers, not employees. The interaction should have started with a hello to my wife and added in there a please somewhere. We will not be returning.
Love this place! Can always find cute clothes. Also their housewares are great and they’ve got so much to choose from. The mascot is my favorite part though! 🐶
APA Thrift is a wonderful place to shop. Not only are the volunteers helpful and friendly, theres also a great selection of clothes or anything else you need at excellent prices. Not to mention youre helping save animals! Love this place!
This place is thrifter’s dream, but be prepared to be treated as a subclass worker. After I apologetically told the cashier that I do not want one piece of clothing item from our purchase, he told me to put back the piece. Although taken aback, I put the item back in the basket of where I found the item. Returning to the counter where my husband is waiting to be rung up, the cashier then handed me the hanger to put back. Now frustrated, I returned the hanger wondering if I was somehow in the wrong to decline a purchase of a specific item. Later, I found out from my husband that the cashier watched me the entire time as I place back the item and it’s hanger. It’s a fantastic treasure-hunting store with a great cause, but we will not be returning.
I love this place and will only donate here. Amazing deals, and amazing stuff!
Awesome services, prices. Better than Goodwill. Goodwill prices are ridiculous
Great things are found there and at a good price. Great friendly staff and always welcome. Its for a good cause so very highly recommended.
I love this place, I love what the cause is for. Everytime I go, I find something unique and beautiful. When I have nice things to donate, I take them there, after all it helps the puppies and kitties!
I always find great finds here and i know my money goes to the animals, so thank you to all the volunteers who spare their time running the place and giving critters a second chance. Clean, and everyone who works there is always happy.
I always love this place. Donated tons of stuff and walked out with stuff also. Cant beat the prices! Everyone so nice and it goes to help the animals!!
Nice vintage retro space, good vibes and for a great cause.... can’t get any better than this. Grabbed some great finds which rarely happens lol Oliver at the front register was super awesome as well! 👍🏻
Great Prices and Good finds. It doesnt over charge like many thrift places nowadays. Its all for a good cause too.
Very expensive. Non existent customer service. I felt I was disrupting the employee. Did I mention expensive?
Only surpassed by their north location but is becoming my favorite spot for excellent wardrobe finds. Items are priced to move to help fund the mission of APA! Better than any thrift you will find out there!
Nice things. Great prices. Staff super friendly. A bit crowded. But okay. All proceeds benefit the shelter!!!
Crystal and her 🐶 were so amazing! I didn’t have a car large enough to transport a table i bought so she helped me transport the table after she got off work! She was so helpful!
A very nice site with great prices. The best thing is this helps the animals that APA helps. A winning combination
I go to this wonderful store every week for new treasures. Especially love the one price per type of clothing eg all short sleeve shirts $3. Makes one happy to be getting a bah gan and also supporting our Austin pets. Go you’ll love it.
The prices had gone up since they closed for the pandemic
Love shopping here, I always find something great and prices are very reasonable. Staff is always friendly and the proceeds go to a wonderful cause.
Neat little thrift shop. First time At this location. Friendly staff, great finds!
So this is wonderful place to donate and shop for thrift store items you will find that the prices are Thrift store prices and something for everyone even dog treats as well as crates lots of paintings and art workSo be sure to check them out you will be glad you did.
Probably my favorite thrift store I have been too. I love the mission behind it, knowing that what I spend there is truly going to a good cause.
I absolutely love everything about Austin Pets Alive !From the amazing things they have to offer to the best prices ever !!The support they provide with their many locations around Austin is truly a blessing for our four legged family members !!Thank you !!!
I love APA’s thrift shop off of oltorf! I’ve gone in there around 4 times and find several new items each time. The staff and volunteers are really kind!
Great location for a great cause. New 2nd location after first store at Burnet Rd was such huge success! Great place to volunteer, as well. Always fun hunting for new treasures.
Nice people and merchandised in a fun boutique way. Great prices!
So great to go to a thrift store that is actually doing some good! Super friendly people that want to be there, and good stuff at true thrifty pricing.
Excellent service from the volunteer staff! Wonderful selection of books today! I was hopeful for a APA! orange t-shirt but will have to come back once larger sizes that have been ordered, come in. Yay I found quite a few owls to add to my owl collection.🐶🐱🐕. This is by far my favorite place to donate my useable household goods that were taking up precious closet space. I will visit them again during the week. Today is Saturday so it was fantastically busy with shoppers. I am happy for them but as an introvert myself I rather come on the least busy day to browse. I will be back with a lot more boxes of donation soon.
Great selection of good used items and it all goes to the Animals.
Great atmosphere...Oliver was so helpfull and custumer service friendly... Ill be shopping there again very soon!
I like this place a lot. Always very good deals and great service.
If you get a thrill of getting a good deal, this place will definitely satisfy!
Clothing thats nice than your average thrift shop, household goods, and all benefits the animals. Whats not to love!
Over price items. Not very welcoming unless they know you
Small, not a large selection. not really a thrift store, more like a boutique with old clothes that arent hand picked or sorted by size.
Best thrift store in Austin-proceeds go to no-kill shelter! Love this place!!!
Great experience! Fun thrift store and pet friendly
I like thrift stores for browsing, and I love that proceeds go to the animals.
They have super reasonable prices on their clothes
Cool thrift store, awesome prices, great cause.
