Found this restaurant while looking for fried green tomatoes which is (I think) Georgias specialty. So we had fried green tomatoes, chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and fried squash, and country fried steak with collard green and jalapeno slaw. All the veggie dishes were delicious and my chicken was tender but my husband said his beef was a little tough. Also we got red velvet cake and it was true southern sweets. Our server was knowlegable and attentive.
It was Home Girls 36th B-Day and she picked Sip and Paint... Wow!!! This place was fabulous because of the host, bartender& waitress where all related. Dad, Mom and daughter. Black owned and run with professionalism 😊 Yes indeed the FOOD was on point. No need for salt pepper or hot sauce.... 10 Stars🤩
Love this place for good home cooking. The fried pickles were a great starter. I enjoyed the catfish sandwich (which was light and flaky on a buttered bun) with a side of broccoli casserole. I tried my daughter’s serving of meatloaf, and it was tender and very tasty. The green beans were seasoned well and did not come from a can. My husband’s Salisbury steak and mashed potatoes were a fave. The collard greens were cooked to perfection. Yes! I sampled everyone’s dish, and I loved ALL of it. The wait staff is personable and fun. Our food was served within 10-15 minutes. I definitely recommend them and will return soon.
1st time eating here, arrived for Sunday lunch at 11 am, greeted & seated immediately. Server was knowledgeable about menu & made suggestions. The fried pork chop plate has 2 pieces & the collards are awesome. The wings plate does not come with sides, you have pay extra. The staff is friendly & the prices are fair for the quality & portions.

1st time eating at South Cobb Diner and it will not be our last!!! We eat out a lot and this place will be added to our weekly schedule!!!! I had the boneless fried chicken it was superb, veggies were amazing ( I’m from the south and I know good vegetables)! Hubby had meatloaf and it was the best he ever had!! Brie your a doll, so polite and great phone etiquette. Love us some SCD in Austell!!!
Nice little diner in south Cobb. Decor is basic and a little empty - probably mostly from covid restrictions. Easy parking which is great. The service was fantastic - friendly, attentive, talkative. The food came out quickly. It was so so so good. Fresh chicken, cooked well, great spices, juicy. The chicken salad was homemade and the sandwich was stuffed. The sub roll for the chicken Philly was so soft. It looked like it was not full but it really was. The fries were not hand cut but they were cooked well and were tasty. The meal was also a great price. I cannot wait to go back.
Had dinner at this place. The food used to be good but not today. Service was even worse. The meat was hot. The vegetables were not. No seasoning on anything. The waitress brought my water and there was something in it. I told her I needed another cup of water and she said oh that’s just paint inside the cup. Like it wasn’t a big deal. Why would she bring me a cup of water with paint in it?? And then I ask for ketchup and hot sauce. She brought a bottle of hot sauce that was so nasty with dried hot sauce all around the top and half the top was broken off! Who does that? I had to ask for another one. Then on the third time that I asked for ketchup, she brought out a bottle that was so incredibly sticky and visibly crudy it just ruined my whole appetite. Since when do servers have to be told to clean the condiment bottles and make sure that they are not broken before they bring them to the customers table? That should be common sense!

I guess Ubereats customers are not as valuable. This is my 3rd time ordering g the same meal but this time, whoever packed my meal gave me extremely hard and burnt Mac & cheese, I guess to get rid of it. The the meat loaf was hard on the bottom. It was old and turned to the bottom Like I wouldn’t see or eat it do better.
The food is GREAT!!!! service isnt bad, can be slow depending on the day and time but this is a diamond in the rough. I eat here every Sunday with my wife and daughters.
I absolutely love this Diner. My husband and I are new to the area and are impressed with the staff as well as the serving size and price. The food is delicious too. Can’t go wrong stopping here to eat.

This is the worst representation of a DINER ever! They advertise brunch on Sat & Sun, with ONLY 4 breakfast items???? I ordered the breakfast plate for $12.50, I received 2 eggs that were way OVER cooked, 2 dinky pieces of bacon, A sausage patty and waffle that was no bigger than a softball and undercooked. I also ordered a cup off coffee and OJ with ice, coffee 3/4 of the way full and also to find out that they were out of OJ???? They have a full bar and no OJ for a so called brunch????? This was my third time going to this place and last!!!!!

I walk here from my house. Great little neighborhood diner. Staff is amazing. I love it all. Country Fried Steak is to die for.

I really want to give this restaurant 5 stars because the staff is very friendly, the restaurant was clean, and the food was actually pretty good. We’ve been here several times and the only time they were able to provide what we ordered was when the restaurant first opened!!! The last few times I’ve visited, they were out of nearly every item on the menu! We had to change our order several times. We became very frustrated because our choices were very limited. The prices have gone up tremendously. It’s good country cooking, but I can make the same items at home for cheaper. We eat out at least twice a week, so I don’t mind paying for good food, but I’ve become very frustrated with them because they keep running out of food.
I did the paint wine and dine experience and it was exceptional. Amazing customer service and the food is SO FREAKING GOOD!! will not disappoint. I got the chicken and waffles with macaroni and cheese and it was heavenly. I kept smiling and even started eating slowly because the food was so good and savory. I love this place and plan to retun. Even the music was amazing. Nice smioth r&b. If you want an elite experience I suggest this place
Just checked this place out for the first time and it exceeded expectations! Great classic county cooking with food that seems fresh and homemade with actual flavor (I find it tragic that so many Southern places serve food that feels like its blandly out of a can). I got to try the chicken fried chicken, gravy, fried squash, mashed potatoes, green beans, collard greens, and cornbread. It was all super good, plenty of food, and Id definitely get it all again. The staff was also very sweet and delightful. The interior atmosphere isn’t the most inspiring, but thats a minor nit-picky thing. Highly encourage you give it a try!
All the entrees I have tried were delicious, and prices are reasonable. My only complaint is that the appetizers and desserts are tiny and overpriced. I love eating there and the servers are awesome.

It was my first time there. Hungry after a hike with the family. We were welcomed with a warm greeting the food was outstanding. Our server Katie was extremely friendly and attentive. The mac and cheese and Black Eyed Peas were Beyond delicious.( it contains meat if you are vegetarian they do have other veggies without meat) the prices were very reasonable as well. If youre in the area and havent tried it the menu has something for everyone in the family absolutely worth the experience. I cant wait to go back with my family.
They have a solid menu woth options for everyone. The country fries steak is very good and crispy. They have some of the best green beans. The shrimp basket is full of large lightly breaded shrimp.
We went to do a painting session. First time. It was fun. The service was exceptional and the food was fantastic. Really enjoyed myself.
My food was Delicious!! I was already eating it when I remembered to take the pictures. 😃. The fried Cauliflower was very TASTYI I will get it again. I had a to go order and the service I got was Awesome!! The waitress was very attentive and answered all of my questions . My family knows the Owner, Laura from West Cobb Diner. Shes Great!! I will definitely continue to patronize both West and South Cobb Diners.

Down in the South West corner of Cobb County there are not very many privately owned quality restaurants to choose from. However South Cobb Diner has changed that.From fish tacos to meatloaf and salisbury steak plus everything in between youre guaranteed to find something on the menu youll like. My favorite is the Fish and chips with Jalepino coleslaw. Give this place a try when youre in the area.
We went for convenience and it is one of those places we eat every chance we get. My husband gets the country fried steak and broccoli casserole everytime. Worth their prices!
South Cobb Diner tucked inside downtown Austell. I had a fried chicken patty with white gravy and mashed potatoes. Actually I thought I was going to get fried chicken. I wish the menu was a little more specific. This restaurant has a lot of fried food amongst other items you can order. Pretty much southern style cooking. The customer service was excellent and the restaurant has a unique atmosphere, very relaxing, clean and organized. The price is very reasonable with sizable portions.
My favorite is Fried Chicken Livers! The food is actually excellent if you can forgive the wait and chaos. That why this gets 3 stars. Also the ambience is lacking with little effort to change. Got tired of the hostess saying someone will be right with you. It may not always be like this but on a Sat or Sun service is really slow. This seems to be the norm around town currently. Either restaurants do not have enough staff, good staff, or cannot afford staff period! So if you if you can wait or I recommend calling in as the better option.
Our family dined here on a whim while we were exploring downtown Austell. OH....MY....GOODNESS! Great food, friendly staff...did I mention great food....GREAT FOOD! Fried pickles! Jalapeno coleslaw! The fish and chips basket was to die for! I figured it was going to be a thin piece of fish deep fried...boy was I wrong! Four pieces of perfectly fried thick pieces of cod fish. So good! Everyone was wearing a mask and everything was clean. Our waitress was very busy, but made sure each of her tables were well taken care of. We will come back again very soon.
Great food and hard working people.Only complaint I have is they use to much pepper or their food,let people put in their own if they need more and tell cooks to ease off

This was our first visit and it was with a group. The watriess we had was good, but she didnt have any help. The service was very slow, it was a Sunday afternoon. Most of the meals are fried, not many healthy options. The food my family had was tasty and fresh.

Who knew that Austell Ga had such an amazing place to eat. The food was DELICIOUS!!! The staff was so inviting and professional. This place is clean, spacious, and very comfortable. Did I mention how great the food is. The portions are plentiful as well. Must try the salmon, mac n cheese. Omg...the collars greens and the salad us the best. My friend had the fried green tomatoes and she closed her eyes and smiled when she took her first bite. She said they were the best she ever had. I had the Blackened Shrimp and Grits. Wow, phenomenal. The taste was mouth watering. I cant wait to go back. They even have paint parties on every Saturday. It was so much fun to be at a private paint party on a Thursday evening. Its a wonderful place to dine and have a party.

Uber driver visit: Waitress of Carribean or Aftican descent was very lax and uncaring. Never asked could I help you after asking who was I picking up for continued to walk around take other takeout orders of people who came in after me etc. Long story short my order was never even put in so I waited 30 mins before leaving with order. Another waitress handled the situation after realizing the issue. In defense of intial waitress they were busy but you could tell thats just her nature/persona.

Dont do take out. They dont answer the phone, so you order on an app. They lose your order and then expect you to pay again. Very unprofessional.

It was so good. I loved the fried squash. The chicken and waffles are really good. Everything was fresh and homemade. Ate there a few times when they first opened and the food started to taste like leftovers but since we decided to give it another try everything has improved and it is one of the best restaurants in the Austell/Douglasville area.

Not pleased with the food at all today. I ordered fish and when I got it home it was way too salty. Batter was very dark meaning it was fried in old grease. I received a replacement of pieces with no flavor and no apology. Wednesday im truly disappointed 2.24.21 if Katie were there I would have a different result.

Service was poor, but I think they may have been understaffed. food was not as good as i thought it would be for having such a wide selection. I was expecting to be wowed based on word of mouth and reviews, but the food was surprisingly bland. Id give it another go, but dont expect anything to knock you out of this world.

Great place and delicious food. I had the chicken fried chicken; my friend had the South Cobb Salad. Beautiful presentation, friendly staff, and delicious food. Southern, but up to date with lots of healthy choices. Yumm.
I dont usually get burgers here, and theres not too many menu options, but I mostly get the south cobb salad, the reason being the burgers arent too filling for the price, its more worth it to get a daves double at Wendys. You usually have to wait a long time after you order ( about 1 hour) before they bring the food to the table which I dont like. But if you look at pictures on the walls it shows some of the history of that restaurant and the town, might be worth checking out. I do reccomend going here but keep in mind that the food might be $2 or $3 more than its worth
