Have a very quirky and unique vibe to this bookstore. If youre visiting first time, it might be a little overwhelming and confusing trying to find or figure out placement of books. They have a wide variety of selections plus collectible books thats worth thousands of $$. Worth a check!

One of my favorite spots in downtown Asheville. Very quiet and pleasant in there, and plenty of fun finds! Always love seeing the local art as well.

I have literally never found anything here. The associates are never friendly. It is a super clean store, though, so I gave 2 stars for that.

What a fantastic used book store. The staff is super helpful and knowledgeable. The selection is fantastic. This is a must stop for any avid reader or book collector visiting the Asheville area. Lots of good local reads available as well as books on the area itself. I will definitely be a repeat customer.

This is an awesome location with lots of selection, and a very large space. Theyre all canceled little nooks and crannies and things that are fun for gifts or for use. The staff is actually very delightful and very helpful. There is a nice Ambience to the store and it is a comfortable place to spend the afternoon.

This was a fantastic, reasonably priced bookstore! We could have spent all day in here. They have a humongous selection of used books on every subject you could imagine! The employees are pretty friendly and helped us throughout our visit. Behind the counter they also sell discounted tarot cards! I particularly enjoyed their table of dollar books! Please make sure to stop in!

Awesome bookstore to explore, plenty of seating to sit and enjoy your time if you can. They have a nice sale section, and fun mystery books that you can pick from (wrapped in paper with a short description written on it so you dont know what it is).

Have brought many books there to recycle. They know whats in demand and whats not, so dont expect them to take everything.Its also my first go-to place to buy books, as they have a large selection.

I recently purchased a book from Downtown Books & News and am so grateful to their kind and helpful staff for locating a rare book no longer published that I have been trying to find for a long time. Not only did they help me find it - turns out the price of it from them was better than I have seen anywhere over the past 20years... Which is why it has taken me so long to buy it. If you have a book youre looking for, check in with this store first! They had to order my book and it arrived sooner than they estimated! I recommend going across the street to Izzys for a coffee while you turn the pages of your new book.

Wonderful place; theres always some great finds; but its hit or miss when looking for something specific. I havent had good luck finding classical literature and poetry.

They were really helpful and the fact that books are re-read, is great for the ecology and for those who cannot always afford a new copy. Terrific!

Hidden Gem out in Plain Sight. From outta town and was recommended by a local. Its comfy cozy without causing claustrophobia. Staff is kind and helpful . Not annoyingly fake and syrupy sweet. Love the Blind Date books. Great place. Check it out.

I love the way this shop feels. It has this mixture of cozy nooks, great books for low prices, people who are searching for their next great read. The way this place runs and the local artsy stuff sold here made this place a definite favorite.

This is a fantastic local bookstore. Theyve got an incredibly eclectic collection because they buy used books. Ive sold dozens of books to DB&N over the years, and they always give a fair price.

Popped in here for a while during a trip to Asheville. Accidentally lost an hour of my day looking through all the shelves. Theres a massive selection of used books at great prices. I even found a 1934 edition of DH Lawrence in amongst some other mass market prints. Awesome!

You have to check out Book and News if you really enjoy a comfortable and friendly place in which to browse your favorite books.....and enjoying a cup of coffee as well. I have never walked in this shop without finding a book I had forgotten to pick up through the years.....or one that I realized I had to have a copy. In other words.....never walked out empty handed! Love it. Cant visit Asheville and not go in this bookstore.

Can’t believe I am JUST now discovering this gem 💎. Have been on a used bookstore hopping spree this month, trying to find new go-to’s when wanting to increase my collections 📚 I. Love. This. Bookstore. 💖 the “inner knowledge” section aka metaphysical/new age section is GREAT! It’s not just one shelf either, it’s an actual section and even found an entire half of a cart in another section with books 🙌🏾. They also have a good YA Sci sci fi/fantasy section, I literally spent an hour over there going through all the books (partway trying to find the book one’s of the multiple series they have 😄. I love they have a snack section and plenty of seating all around the store. The prices are excellent too, I bought a few things (one being an antique book) all for under $30. It’s in the perfect location too so I was able to go across the street for lunch and down the street for tea after my shopping 💝. I also just found out they are open 7 days a week, every day of the year! I think this may be my new favorite used bookstore 🤫 don’t tell Mr K’s 😬😄

What a great place to have a book find you. I love browsing through the recently acquired books section to find my next adventure, and to also get a feel for what everyone is tired of, lol. Its a great library of whatever you are looking for, or whatever is looking for you.

Make a point to stop by this shop when I come to Asheville. Free-spirited and welcoming to people. Loved a notice posted prominently about accepting people without judgment. Wonderful, creative, artsy will be at ease.

Seemed to me to be more of a used book store. Which was basically priced 1/2 what the price of the book has on it. They did have all the current local and global newspapers and magazines though.Chairs are spread all around so you can just browse before you buy.VHD

Used bookstores are my favorite places in the world but this one is way over priced. That is probably related to the fact that theyre in downtown Asheville. Id skip this store and look for somewhere less expensive outside the city.

Huge selection, only issue was that the person at the register had ZERO interest in helping me find what I was looking for. I eventually found the sections I was seeking on my own but it was mildly frustrating.
