Food is fantastic here and portions are outstanding. They had a decently sized outdoor dining area. We ordered the chicken sandwich, a burger, and the roasted carrots. Also ordered a mixed drink which was really tasty as well. Service was exceptionally slow though and the only thing bringing down the rating. Would def return!
We stopped at Tryst on our way to our evening plans which involved dancing so we were looking for a place with some fine date night nourishment. We had some confusion at the beginning of our visit. We were not asked whether or not we would prefer to sit at the bar or further away. We were asked if we wanted to be seated outside since the weather was nice. We selected indoors and were seated at the bar area which had a TV. Not romantic.Another point of confusion was that we were seated with one outdated menu. My date mentioned that he might like the ragu and as I read the description, my comment was something like that sounds nice, except Id ask to omit the feta part... This is when we realized that the recipe had changed and one of us had an old menu. Our server was well informed of the recent changes and could identify which one to hand back to the hostess. (We were still not entirely confident that our menus were current but its fun to imagine the dynamic creative process going on in the kitchen.)I got a seared fish selection from the specials and an aviation. My date got the ragu and a scotch. My date is well informed about what scotchs he likes. They had a wide variety of liquors and our server was well informed about what was there but also solicited advice from the bartender for an ideal pairing. My dinner was a great idea and was well executed from the kitchen. Everything was nicely plated and tasted fresh. My cocktail was delicious! The food and drink pairing was a good choice and my server pointed that out before anything arrived. My dates pasta dish was a bit of a disappointment. He said that it was tasty but it could have had more flavor and the portion size was so extremely small, I wonder if that was designed to encourage people to order dessert. We did not have time for a dessert course.Go here if you want some romantic atmosphere and especially if you like a craft cocktail with a vintage vibe. If your dinner does not involve a Central serving of meat or other protein, you might consider ordering an appetizer or dessert.Host staff: ⭐💩Atmosphere and cleanliness ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Bar staff, table server: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Kitchen culinary art: ⭐⭐⭐
Great spot for dinner in Arlington center. Entrees were cooked to order and manager provided great service. Will be back!
Love this place! I rate it the best restaurant in Arlington! 🤩 It provides dine-in service during pandemic with safe social distancing and service. Food is prepared in a beautiful way! Our waitress was so friendly and polite. The food here is so creative and gives you a new experience. You won’t feel regret coming here.
Sat outside and had a pleasant experience. Server was attentive, food and drinks came out fast. Sitting outside was nice. Really easygoing spot for a quick lunch.
Excellent service at the bar. They recently changed tables out for banquets making the space cozier. The Delmonico steak is really good as are the cheesy tater tots. Portion size is spot on as well. A neighborhood gem.
My GF and I were visiting Boston, and wanted to find a good local restaurant. Our hotel clerk told us about this resto and recommended the shrimp tacos. We split one ... and then ordered two more ... on a scale of 1 to 10, these were a 17. The salmon was also great, with a unique and amazing zing I couldnt put my finger on. Totally worth the trip outside Boston.
The place offers a great range of fresh food. I loved eating here. Employees are always very nice, pricing is fair and the place is always kept clean.
Reliably wonderful food and cocktails. Nice service. One of my night out go-tos. The Brussels sprouts and kale salad and truffle fries are a must, and their seasonal pasta dishes are always great.
We were here on Monday night . It’s look private zone for our party. We like it. The host was friendly and nice h. He was Asian guy. He bought us to the table inside. The waiter was ok. We ordered the appetizers. Kale salad, tossed green, shrimp taco, calamari . For Entree’s we had salmon, steak, lobster. The Americans food lover might be interested in the tasting. The dessert we had blueberry tart and chocolate melton cake . I recommend for dessert is awesome
Would definitely recommend eating here. Exceptional ambience, yummy food, awesome customer service. Keep up the good work.
Had a very good experience in this place with my friend. The food comes out quickly and the customer service is just good. Prices are reasonable.
Great food and atmosphere
Very good drinks and food
For the most part, I try to avoid writing reviews during this time, because corona is stressing everyone and restaurants are still figuring out the takeout process. However, last night we were craving burgers hard and a google search sent us to Tryst for the first time. We got 2 of their Ultimate Burgers with truffle fries and they were AMAZING. Juicy, thick, and perfectly cooked and seasoned. The truffle fries were also fragrant and top notch. Absolutely hit the spot. We will definitely return.
Love this place. They make the GREATEST chicken sandwich ever. I strongly recommend
I frequent this superb place often since I enjoy the special air that is outline this restaurant. The team is extremely helpful and skilfull. The service is certainly quick. Most important, the food they cook is first-rate. I visited many times and I was never disappointed. The rate is honest. I highly suggest this restaurant to all my friends.
I was glad to hear Tryst had reopened. Today being Mother’s Day my daughter wanted to treat as we spent last year at Tryst’s on Mother’s Day. She ordered at 4 and someone called shortly after to say they were very busy and should expect delivery by 7 p.m. 7:30 came and nothing. Now it’s 8:30 and still nothing. I understand they are busy and I’m happy that they’re busy but this is ridiculous. Never ordering from them again. Thanks for ruining my Mothers Day.
The food was great. Small list of entrees and appetizers each, which is to my wifes liking. Alcohol list of was long, but only had one hard cider on it. Got the steak which was done just as I like it with truffle fries. I suggest the garlic mashed with brussel sprouts if you like steak and are not allergic to spending money.
Food is good, super popular place in the neighborhood. Wish the desk arrangements could be better. We had to sit directly in front of the front door, not ideal.
Went for New Years Day brunch and the food was impeccable. Steak and eggs was mouth watering and the french toast was packed full of flavors. Makes me miss living in Arlington.
Pretty cozy and spacious restaurant in Arlington, MA. Typical American food. Shrimp taco was really good but pricy (8$ for one taco!). Burger was OK. Hostess and waitress were friendly and welcoming.
Elegant restaurant in a local area. Food is consistently first rate with lots of unique offerings. Drink menu has lots of variety. Staff is always welcoming.
The menu and service were above my expectations. I truly loved the atmosphere of this place. Fantastic restaurant to take the family out for dinner.
Beyond expectations. Great inventiveness, with an element of fun/play with some of the courses. Top quality service.
A little expensive, but enjoyable. They ambiance is nice and the service is solid.
Great place!
Didnt have good experience. Steaktips were over cooked. Scallops had sand or shell in it. Priced to high. On the good, facility was clean and wait staff was decent.
When my husband and I go to Tryst we typically eat at the bar and love it. Service is great. Fun vibe. Food is constantly wonderful. We love the burgers, the steak tips, the calamari, and the salmon.
Delightful place. We are a couple and love to sit at the bar and eat and drink; bartenders are alert and competent, entrees and appetizers vary with the day, often unique and always tasty.Usually a good place for people watching, especially in the bar. Mostly couples ( straight, gay, women, men) seem to be fairly sophisticated and articulate. Bar has comfortable chairs and they have about twenty seats for high tops located close (but not too close) to the bar. Service is good, without being cloying. It ain’t cheap, but the pricing is more than fair. Decent, but not huge wine list (they’re more than glad to offer you a sample of any wine on their list), their spirits selection is fairly limited, but adequate and the bartenders seem to know how to make funky and obscure mixed drinks.Parking is generally available in the evening, but we do Lyft because we often find ourselves staying longer, and drinking more than we expected.I suppose I shouldn’t be writing such a glowing review, because we love this place just the way it is.
Very nice place. You must try the shrimp tacos. Absolutely delicious.
Rather overpriced for the service and the food. Two of our four dishes werent cooked as requested, and we literally had to search for someone to fix it. The food was good and the service adequate but neither justified the prices.
While the prices may be large, it is well worth it. Each time I have gone, my meal was amazing. I have not gone in a few months, but I do recommend it. Everything was delicious.
Tasty! We were here on a weeknight and it was very quiet. Beer battered Brussel sprouts are good, the burgers were excellent. They actually do medium rare correctly, so many other places just cook it to medium.
Brunch was pretty bad. The service was really slow. We got a couple bloody Mary’s that weren’t horrible but nothing that I haven’t had from a bottle of mix and at $11 it’s worth avoiding. We each got the Juevos Rancheros and we were expecting a good hearty portion like you get at Highland Kitchen or Full Moon. Instead we got a nice fine dining sort of presentation with not a ton of food but it was acceptable. Given that it’s $16 we figured it would be gourmet... it’s not. I’m pretty sure they use bagged tortilla chips and canned salsa. The whole thing was bland and underwhelming. I could go on but I’m honestly just disappointed. We spent over $100 for a weak brunch and I feel like we got fleeced out of money, time and worst of all another local restaurant is going down hill. The reviews looked so good! I guess this is a cautionary tale of trusting the reviews. Ordinarily I would say something to the staff as opposed to writing reviews but I just didn’t have the energy to complain or wait for someone to come to the table.
We just had an excellent dinner at Tryst. The lobster and corn chowder is one of the best Ive had in some time. Our server Joseph was awesome. The peach pie dessert was a perfect recommendation.Full marks.
Its not advertised very well on their site, but this place does do a nice brunch! Given Arlington Centers overall lack of brunch places, finding this was key. They had some good non-alcoholic breakfast cocktails, too, which was a nice touch.
Good food and drinks, but for me not the best bang for the buck. My issue was sitting under the street. In spite of good design and careful placements, I couldnt get comfortable feeling underground, which is highly subjective and Im sure youll enjoy this place more than me. But if I am to pay such prices I want a different ambiance.I say go and try it, the food wont disappoint, but for me it was slightly pricey for what I got. Most people who go will likely disagree with me.
Tryst is one of regular place to go out to eat.Yesterday it was a total downer. Drinks to desert.Presentation has lot to improve. Preparation no comment.Place was clean and presentable.
Parts of the main dish were good, but service was spotty (loooong time to get a drink, a dessert, every part of our meal ) and the side salad was clearly right out of the fridge and drenched in dressing. The food wasnt impressive enough to justify the high prices.
Its a bit pricey but the food is quite good. Id been here for dinner and never came back. The place seemed dark and the food was not all that great for the price. Today we were driving by and the places had some people for brunch so I thought of giving it a second chance this time for breakfast and I dont regret. I loved their tacos bravos and my husbands omelette was also very tasty. Definitely will come back for another brunch and try something else.
One of my top spots in Arlington. Indoor and outdoor seating. Fantastic menu, wonderful service. Highly recommended.
Excellent meal, family friendly, excellent service. The homemade desserts are amazing. Hope to go again when traveling through the area.
Great restaurant and bar. Service is first class and personal; i.e. the people seem to really care about you. Drinks are interesting, unconventional. Food is good, not fussy.
Very good food, though I found a small bone in my food, which is less than desirable. Service was good. You dont need reservations, though reservations are recommended.
I visited for Sunday brunch. The food was adequate, but not especially great. The atmosphere is nice. The service was extremely slow, though polite.
One of the most with it bars/restaurants in Arlington. Noisy but not too noisy. Great wine selection at reasonable prices. We sit at the bar and select from small bites. Favorites are the kale/brussels sprouts salad with toasted hazelnuts and the crispy calamari.
Nice place to have brunch clean and friendly atomsphere
Good food. Nice ambience. Reasonably priced.
Hugely talented chef and staff. Flavors, textures, and presentation are excellent. Perfect preparation. Highly recommended.
Brunch was good and service was friendly. It was a nicely designed and clean restaurant.
Tryst is my absolute favorite local - classy wine bar, intimate cozy atmosphere all in one. Perfect for dates, ladies drinks, brunch, dinner, or just wine and apps.
Wonderful food. Nice atmosphere and staff. We are regulars at Tryst.
Great brunch. Love the Bloody Mary and crispy potatoes, in particular. High tops can be a little noisy, but great for people watching.
Itd be easy to write off Tryst as a bit tired and generic... With so many New American concepts out there, it can feel like an uninspired option these days. But our meal was anything but predicable or generic.Quality calamari, with just a bit of a twistGreat shrimp tacosInsanely good pork pops (just order them, seriously)The low key, relaxed atmosphere works for date night, an intimate get together with a few friends, or even just saddling up to the large bar for an evening drink and a bite.
Overpriced and attempting to be high brow. Nice environment and good for a date. Sometimes difficult to find parking, but relatively easy location.
Service and food always spot on! A great neighbor spot.
Nice setting, good food, excellent alcohol selection
Food is great. Nice mix of basics and innovative dishes. Solid cocktails. Service has been meh at best but not outright bad.
The food was excellent, as was the decor and atmosphere. I cant wait to go back and try another dish!
Good place. The dishes were good. Service was excellent. Price reasonable for Boston area.
The quality of the food was very high. The steak was delicious with their homemade sauce. The service was very nice as well.
The food was great! However...We were not greeted right away because the hostess was walking around trying to find tables, & answering the phone. Also, a couple who did not make reservations were seated before we were when we had booked a reservation. Additionally, our server dropped so many items on the table, on the floor, and all over the place it was awkward. Not sure if we were treated differently because we had a Groupon...
We got directions, but I dont think we wound up going here. Ive heard its wonderful though.
Food was just ok, but service was great. Crispy brussel sprouts were soggy and pasta was a bit undercooked.
Love the seasonal changing menu, delicious truffle fries, and shrimp tacos just to start off.
We just had sandwiches and figs, but everything was really good.
Been three times. The food is okay, certainly not interesting or extraordinary. So, for the prices they charge I cannot recommend them. Try bistro5, flora, or Tango instead
Excellent food. I had the duck breast, my wife had the kale and brussels salad, we were both very happy with our meals. The duck was on a bed of squash risotto, brussels sprouts, and other vegetables - it was great!Prices were reasonable for the quality of food. The ambiance wasnt all that great, but the food was good enough for me to ignore that.
Kale salad and burger with sunny side up egg cant be beat! My friend Rich loves the shrimp tacos - orders two for his entree - and has room to play with...
Tryst is an amazing restaurant and bar. Its always a guaranteed good time and totally worth the price. One of the reviews here says they were seated by the kitchen and front door, which is impossible because the kitchen is at the rear of the restaurant. The kitchen is no where near the front door, so I wonder how many of the bad reviews are false and being used to drag the rating down.
Great Apps! Small menu portions for the money.awesome deserts.
Awesome food! Loved the Pig Under a Brick entree (super crispy skin is a bonus).
Food was amazing. Had a reservation for 10 days, upon arrival was stuck at a two person table at end of bar by both kitchen and front doors. Could not hear anyone at the table, a mix of cold air from the front door and hot food smell from kitchen made for a NON romantic evening. Bar was so horrible we had our food before our drinks. Hostess was full of attitude, failing to reserve a table, and snapped at her co-workers rather than move herself to provide any kind of service to customers other than interrupting our meal four times. Instead she stood by our table complaining about staffing issues and seating other folks at a the comfortable tables around the back corner away from the bar, kitchen, and front door. Waste of $150 & not worth the effort.
The evening started out on the wrong foot. We did not make a reservation for our family but, seeing many open tables, we didnt think that we needed one. So we waited...and waited...and waited. One waiter walked past us and clearly saw us. I expected he would the hostess that there were people waiting to be seated but we kept waiting. I called the restaurant while standing there. The call brought the hostess to the front which then made her realize that we had been waiting.Once seated, our experience got better. We ordered Brussels sprouts with parmesan cheese as an appetizer and it was amazing. For my main meal I ordered mushroom tagliatelle. The first few bites were very tasty. As I got towards the end of the dish it got more salty. I wasnt thrilled with the pasta. It was a bit undercooked. I like pasta al dente but this was too crunchy. We would have stayed for dessert but we had dessert waiting at home.
Modern restaurant with a good wait staff. Went for brunch, and the vegetarian truffle omelette was great.
Attentive and gracious service. Delicious food and Cocktails.
Absolutely wonderful. We have been one time, 9/21/12. This will be our go to place. Reasonable prices. Specific menu request were pleasantly received. Nice atmosphere with plasma TVs that did not interfere with the vibe. Our server, Tyrell was great; we will ask to be seated in his section when possible. And oh yeah, highly recommend the Carbonara.
At the bar, service and atmosphere was great and delicious calamari. Need to expand selection of local beer on tap.
Great bar, menu, good food, nice neighborhood vibe.
Great burgers....great drinks.... wonderful service..,.a gem in Arlington....hidden in plain sight on Mass Ave....a must visit!!!
I went on Friday night and had to wait for a hostess to even seat us and wait for the waiter, but everything else was fine. The burger and sweet potato fries were good.
Food was excellent with perfectly cooked scallops and a true medium/rare tenderloin. Highly recommend.
The service at Tryst is excellent!
Great quiet, upscale but not stuffy, atmosphere. Had the perfect brunch with girlfriends.
Excellent dinner, great food, great service
Had a great yummy dinner tonight.
Nice comfortable place to chill out. Good bar.
Great food and service
Good food and service.
Went there for brunch with some friends. Servings were huge and would recommend the buttermilk blueberry pancakes.
Great food, waitress was spot on. Will be back
Perfect for any occasion, American food with an elegant twist.
