Disclaimer... I love Metro. I have been going there for years. The food is always good and generous. I had the chicken suvlaki with generous salad, fries and a soda. Also a coffee and cheesecake. I had to take stuff home. Everything was excellent but the cheesecake at different points was a bit hard. Besides that... business as usual... excellent!
Service is truly the best. Swanky DC restaurants should take lessons here.Food is solid and comes in huge portions. Their burger is no joke...get one. Souvlaki sandwich is a delight.
This a no frills diner that does everything right. Maria, our waitress, was so friendly! Shes been working there for 15 years, which shows that its a great place to be.My friend and I both got the French toast. Absolutely unreal. It sets the gold standard for how French toast can and should taste. Definitely will come back regularly.
The French Toast is AMAZING. If you havent had it you are missing it! Love this place.
Excellent food and big portions. My kinda place. Order from here at least 1-2 times a week. Wide selection and everything is good. Not on the menu but always available is the best,by far, gyro in Arlington. Staff is fantastic,, always Excellent service. My sons get me a slice of banana cream pie for my Fathers day every year. Its my favorite. Try this place and youll love it.
One of the few actual diners in the area serving old fashioned American comfort food. 3 stars because service wasnt great. We were one of the few people seated and there were plenty of servers just standing at their posts talking, but not really checking on us. I had to flag someone down for more water. Also a little expensive for what it is, but food was good!
I love this place. Been coming here for over 15 years. The menu is large, but everything is well done. And if you come for one thing. It has to be the French toast. Its only 2 slices. But I challenge you to finish them both. The bakery items are excellent as well. The service is always excellent. Never had a bad time here. And if I ever had a grievance, it was always remedied immediately.
I don’t know how to explain my visit here on a Saturday with 6 friends. We went at 2pm for brunch and were seated right away but the waiter came to tend to us after 25 minutes. And the orders we gave weren’t written down and realized that our waiter is experienced however every single order was wrong and missing items and hair in the tzitziki sauce. The manager had to step in and accommodate us and basically apologized for the waiter reaching over food with half her body to serve us right in front of him. Whole check was waived.
The service here is always top notch. I go for breakfast. I recommend the Crab Cakes Benedict. They are so good and the hollandaise sauce is one of my favorites. The pancakes never disappoint. The order of 3 is enough for two people, so be prepared if by yourself.
A staple of the neighborhood. Not many real diners left in the area. Ive eaten at this one for decades. Ive never gotten a bad meal. Good service and menu selections. Bright and airy. Friendly staff.
Great food, very friendly staff! Alot of guests makes it a little loud, but not to bad! Was placed along the back of the restaurant as we brought a stroller and a infant, which was great for us.The milkshake is a winner!!!
Never had a bad meal here. Food is always outstanding and service is great. We will never be disappointed.
Good spot for traditional diner fare in Arlington area. Everything we ordered was really good but by far the worth it winner is the French toast. Do not come to this place and not get an order of their Challah french toast. Even if you order one to share with the table it is a must try for this spot. #shopeatdrinklocal
Great diner with extensive menus. I had the omelet with 8 add-ons -- wonderful. And the french toast was delicious too!!
Best diner Ive eaten at in a great while. Reminded me of every one I grew up eating at in South Jersey. Hash browns were awesome.
I love eating here! The food is always good.
My Bishop bought me breakfast here... that was the best part. He loves the place and has eaten there for 30 years and he knows and loves everyone. So, Im thinking this is an excellent place. Breakfast was delicious!!
The staff was kinda pushy about me placing a order for carry out, however my breakfast was great. Large portions, my pancakes were great they gave me enough syrup unlike some places. I will continue on ordering from there.
A very fine place to eat. Good food, well trained staff, clean, happy.
Great friendly service. A fairly straight forward diner. Got the pastrami omelette, I enjoyed it. Good mimosas. I have not tried anything from the lunch menu.
Food is good, staff friendly but they dont check on your table to often wife never got a refill on her drink we were there for about 1 hour
Absolutely delicious food. The service was beyond fantastic. We will definitely be coming back again!
It was great for dining in I had the three big pancakes I dont remember what they were called but they were amazing. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
CUSTOMER SERVICE was excellent! My highest regards. 6 in our party, not one complained about food. Roast beef sandwich, mickey mouse pancakes, spaghetti, lasagna, hash omelet. Excellent menu options for food and dessert. Friendly staff, family friendly atmosphere, & clean. Cute ambience. If I lived here this would be a go too. Thank you Metro 29 Diner!! 😀
I had a good night visiting here. I love to try anything new and in the area and I found that this diner was featured on TV. Why not?Pros: The food here is delicious. I did not try their breakfast food but got a burger and a sundae. The burger is huge if you put everything on it and tasted good. The fries arnt Burger 7 or anything but they are good as well. The set-up and appearance of the facility was nice and there was a lot of space. I cant vouch for their service when busy but I went later at night and Melissa was a good waitress to my wife and I. This place has its own free parking lot which is great considering how much the National Capital Region sucks for parking. Still might have to U-turn a median which likely can hurt some business.Cons: Little bit steep on the prices. My wife and I had a $50 bill by the time we left a tip and ate an entree and dessert. Not a place Id go to frequently because of the pricing but definitely a good place to have a good night out. Bathroom may not be the most sparkly clean but why would I mark a diner down for that? People can be slobs. If 4.5 was a rating on here, itd probably be more accurate but Ill give em the 5. The owner evidently built it from the ground up and I applaud his entrepreneurship and thank him for bringing a nice diner to the area.
Great food, plentiful meals. Great service. I had the chicken salad wrap with fries, very tasty.
I really like the souvlaki, chicken caesar wrap, and really anything else I’ve gotten from here. It also is perfect for breakfast and the desserts are nice too! Just a good diner!
THE SILVER DOLLARS PANCAKES ARE SO MOIST AND FLAVORFUL. Literally to die for.
Service fantastic. They even opened the front door for us. And then they have us the best hot chocolate ever.
More than just delicious, reliable, breakfast. Their dinner menu served all day is worth a gander. All entrees come with soup, salad, and a potato of your choice. An incredible bang for your buck. Half a roast duck with stuffing and all the sides is only $21! Not in the mood for dinner? The old standbys like eggs benedict and omelettes never let you down. Not many places give off that real diner feel anymore, here you feel like youre transported 29 years back in time. Most importantly, Guy Feiri approved!
This has been a haven for my friends and I for a very long time. Always great food anytime and very informative and pleasant staff and management. So very glad they have re-opened to say The hell with Covid!!!.Will always support such a great, needed, establishment.Dave J
Service was great!!!! Seated quickly, served quickly. Food was out of this world 🌎!!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT!!!!
Great diner food. Great service. Great staff. Our favorite in Arlington.
This place is simply awesome, from the staff to the food!
Good food, service and portion size. A little pricey $$$ for your average breakfast.
Delicious! We enjoyed this meal so much on our trip to DC
Great food and great service!
This diner has tremendous value. On top of that the food is excellent. Had the gyro deluxe and what a deal. Its rare to get a deal eating out but you do here for sure.
My sister and I discovered this comfortable diner after running an errand nearby. We thought the outside was very retro and fun and we expected it to be retro inside, too, but instead it was a typical interior with booths and tables and looked nothing like a diner. This was the only disappointment. The service by Vanessa, our waitress, was excellent and the breakfast food was generous and came quickly. We loved their specialty French bread and the coffee was really good and we were altogether happy. They were carefull about social distancing and keeping the restaurant super clean. We would absolutely come here again and bring friends and family. Thank you, Vanessa for making this the perfect breakfast place!
Decent food, but nothing that stands out.
Real delicious. 10 min from DC
Breakfast offerings were plenty...covid safety followed...staff friendly
Had one if their omelets...was PERFECT!
Great food...the Belgium waffles are light, fluffy and delicious, the grilled chicken sandwich is seasoned to perfection and the onion rings and fries hit the spot.
Great place to eat. Wonderful food and service
Great Diner, Amazing French Toast (Do not leave this place until you have the Challa Bread French Toast)!
Dont get me wrong the food for the most part is really amazing, but every time I come here its like the prices have gone up and menu items are removed. The idea I spending $30 for a sandwich, fries and a shake is not practical to me. Definitely some place you come maybe twice a year if you are on student budget like me 😅
Great breakfast but most people dont know they have great burgers too...
Metro is finally open!!yay!! Food is amazing, portions are great as ever, and staff is incredible, so personable and attentive. Thanks Peter for re-opening. We love you all!
Quick service good quality food and portions
Have reviewed it before. Please stop asking again!!
Its very good food, and the service is great :-) however, after watching the TV show Diners Drive-Ins and dives, I was wanting to get the lamb :-) however because of covid they have a limited menu. But what I did get was wonderful
Best french toast in town!
First time back since covid. It was good to return and the meal was good.
Peter and I have been friends, are still friends. 29 is a landmark and the staff is the reason!
Great place to grab something eat without going broke lol
The diner is always good
Very clean and good food
Great food, server not so friendly
Food here is always on point and the service is excellent.
So I just ordered an omelet with mushrooms and onions to go and ask the waiter, Do you have any substitutions for the potatoes that come with it? He said, Well you can get french fries (Isnt that the same thing) corn and rice, spinach and corn or fruit but that will cost extra. Its weird because I figured a diner of that magnitude with such an enormous menu would have more options for vegetables then what I was offered. What I definitely noticed was I was not offered to make The Omelette larger in substitution for not getting aside or a discount in price because I was not getting a side order.Anyhoo, my omelet was completed in no time and I was out the door. Now keep in mind I literally Live 2 minutes from the diner and when I got home and started eating my omelette I noticed instantly at best it was slightly warm. Not hot not very warm but slightly warm. Which brings me to the price. The omelette with whole wheat toast and zero sides was $14.30. Plus a $5.00 tip (because I never stiff the waiter or waitress for an issue that management needs to address) My grand total for a single slightly warm omelette was $19.30. For that kind of a price I should have just gone to Whole Foods and bought a filet mignon and cooked it myself.I really couldnt be more disappointed with my experience this evening at the diner. This day forth I will spend my money elsewhere.
Always a classic, huge food selection, friendly service
Great staff and amazing food. The desserts are to die for.
Excellent home style meatloaf dinner with home made mashed potatoes and corn. The mushroom brown gravy with a hint of cinnamon and red marsala wine makes this hearty rich meal. I also enjoyed a cup of the best chicken noodle soup in the area. So check out the Metro 29 diner today!
It was going well until my friend ask the waiter for steak sauce and he hesitated and said is their anything else because I am busy . How rude can you be to a customer 😒
Left %40 tip and nobody cares.Sad
Good breakfast but a bit expensive. Omelette $12. Home fries $5.50 additional. A $35 breakfast for two is a bit high. We could have had a nice dinner at Outback. Next time, Ill go where prices are more reasonable.
Quick, delicious, generous portions.
Loved this place !! Delicious, affordable, and quick!
Great service and always great food. Weve been going there for years and they consistently delivered. You wont be disappointed.
There were several recommendations for their French toast being so great, so we went specifically for that. Two orders later, it was time and money wasted. It wasnt good at all, didnt have a good taste at all and they didnt have real syrup. Out of the four slices, 1 and half were eaten by 2 people, and that was forced. We left very disappointed, dont think the waitress cared too much or maybe didnt understand, but I was clear that we didnt like it and it tasted bad.
I have been here before, but I never took the time to give reviews. It was nice and quiet during this time due to COVID-19. I didnt expect how much bacon they gave me when I ordered two fried eggs, toast, and hashbrowns. Everything was DELICIOUS!!! Will definitely come back again and again.
Great place for breakfast. Super service and lots of variety on the menu. I had monster large French toast on homemade bread. Good COVID protections.
Upon entering the Diner I said hello to the hostess, she didnt acknowledge me she just looked at me up & down, Im Hispanic my feeling is she thought I didnt belong there even though she is also Hispanic, i sat down had an excellent steak & cheese sandwich but I wont be going back there.
This place is authentic! Everything was amazing. They even made my kids food special by adding garlic butter and extra cheese to their grilled cheese sandwiches! I cant express enough how well they treated my family ❤️
Lots of good food for a good price and the food came out fast.
Classic dinner. Greek influence on good food. Huge portions. Ridiculous dessert choices.
