I am a transplant recipient who suffers from a bad back, so I needed an electric bike to help me go farther on a bike without more pain. The bike is perfect for what I was looking for. Customer focused. Unhurried. Knowledgeable. Great stock for a bike shop during the pandemic, but slim pickings (like everywhere else) for bikes larger than 58cm. Carl was amazing and, believe it or not, I walked out of Spokes with a 61cm Tarmac SL7 Expert with the Shimano Ultegra group-set outfitted w/Di2 (I wont talk wheels - theyre ok). I recommend this shop to anyone, but especially to those who have decided they love cycling and are ready to make a real investment and need to confirm their research with people who really know their stuff (Good bikes can cost some $$$).

Sales personnel in the front of the store are very polite and extremely knowledgeable. The service tech however is extremely rude who does not provide a professional courtesy of respect.I was very happy with the sales professionals in the past, but will never be going back due to the lack of professionalism from the service tech and the lack of customer service from him.

I had never done business with Spokes before, but regardless, the owner answered my emails about a product I was looking for, and I ultimately bought a bike carrier from them. You generally don’t expect businesses to return emails, and you don’t expect businesses to hold a carrier after you have bought it until you are ready to pick it up. All of this happened in my experience with Spokes

Pretty good selection of products, all high quality. The layout of the store is pleasing and the bicycles on display are very nice. What stood out the most for me was the friendly and welcoming staff. They were very friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. I felt very welcomed. That kind of experience for a customer is what really sets a business apart from others. I would highly recommend friends and family to visit that store because I think they would receive the same warm, welcoming reception that I did. Shopping can be intimidating for new cyclists, and experienced cyclists like me can sometimes feel jaded and guarded, but it was a pleasure to do business with the staff at Spokes in Ballston and I will almost certainly be back.

Great customer service! I had a great experiencing purchasing my bike as well as taking it back shortly after for a quick brake rub issue fix. The customer service at this store versus the Trek store in Clarendon was far superior. Not only was a more appropriately sized bike recommended, but I was able to feel confident about my purchase being able to take a quick ride in the parking lot to test it out.

Excellent and friendly customer service. Quick turn around on service repairs. My bike was leaking air in the tire and it was repaired in about 15 min.

The whole Sales team did a great job, I was initially fitted and consulted on the bike by Evan. There was no pressure to make the purchase that day and he was very informative about Di2 and carbon vs standard wheels. Ogden took helped me check out on my return trip and was very helpful. Again not pressuring me to add a million things but helped me get a water bottle holder and gave me much needed advice on other accessories that I will come back for soon. Overall the staff was phenomenal, another gentleman helped evaluate my riding position and a forth staff member helped me fit the bike in my car. I’m looking forward to coming back to the shop because I know I will be taken care of.

We came a ways down from PA to pick up a specific Specialized Venge they had online, and the main proprietor cut the seat post, swapped out stems, and was super personable. The whole team at Spokes Etc. is exceptional. Ive been to dozens of bikes shops over the years and have never found a place that invests as much time with their customers as Spokes. Evan, Brian, and Tyler helped me get set-up with a brand new bike at a competitive price. After riding for about a month or so, I came back in and received a 2 hour professional bike fitting at no additional charge. I would highly recommend this shop for all of your cycling needs!

Scott has fixed our families bikes for the last couple of years. He is knowlegeable, gives options that our cost effective, and provides good time estimates as far as how long service will take. He tries to get it done while you wait

The service was quick! I brought my bike over since it had a flat tire. A broken spoke was discovered on my wheel so a new wheel was put on too. This all happened in under an hour!

Your staff was very warm and welcoming. You could tell they’re passionate about cycling and everything it involves. My husband and I were taught so much about our bikes and cycling needs while visiting your store in Arlington, VA. We left feeling happy and confident in our purchases. I cant say enough good things about the customer service that I received from Carl (sp?), from the first time that I spoke with him to when he was personally involved in helping me receive my bike; he is the BEST! What a dedicated, knowledgeable, caring person he is! Carl made the purchase and receipt of my e-bike possible despite an injury that would have precluded me from getting it and, for that, I will always be grateful. He is always willing to go the extra mile to make things easy for the customer and he gives his trust willingly to help out where the sales transaction is not routing; it is rare to find someone like him these days. I will definitely keep coming to Spokes Etc.just because of how I was treated by Carl!

My husband and I decided on bikes as our holiday gifts to each other. We spin for fitness but neither of us have been on a real bike since we were teens. We went to spokes as our first stop in our search in late Nov & met Evan. We didn’t really know where to start & Evan helped by asking a lot of insightful questions about how we envision using our bikes, our budget, & personal preferences. He pointed us to a few bikes and after test driving we narrowed it down to a model for each of us, & put them on hold for us while we worked out our finances. Compared to our experience at other (very local) area bike shops, we felt like Evan really cared about making a good match for us & our bike needs & didnt dismiss us as new bike shoppers or pigeon-hole (or dismiss or force) us into a style/model/brand like another shop down the road did.We never felt sold or pressured at spokes & Evan did a lot to educate us on the spectrum of bikes that met our needs & helped us make an educated decision we felt confident on. Also, the shop didn’t pester us or constantly call about holding our bikes before we made the purchase. We were very pleased with our experience at Spokes, happy we could buy our bikes from them, & would refer any first time bike shopper there. We 1000% trust spokes with servicing our bikes & are looking forward to the new bike owner workshops resuming post covid. We feel like we got the perfect bikes for us & we are very excited to take our new bikes out!

Ive been shopping at the Ballston location since it was a Contes over 10 years ago. Since they switched to Spokes, I have found them to be my best option in Arlington. I have shopped for bikes and bike stuff from pretty much all of the LBSs and on-line retainers and keep coming back to them. I purchased a Tarmac SL7 from them last year when you couldnt find them anywhere. I also purchased a Diverge Comp. Even before I bought several high end bikes from them, they would happily service my kids 10 year old junkers.Shop at Spokes because:- They will fix a ton of issues for you for free while you wait. They have only charged me for 1/5 of my visits to them. That was even before I bought my more expensive bikes from them.- They really want you to be on the road with a bike you are happy with. When I bought my Diverge, the factory doesnt set them up for tubeless. They suggested we set the bike up as tubeless during the purchase process and I am glad we did.- You rarely have to wait for minor service. They are great at stopping what they are doing to ask me about my issue and there is rarely anyone in front of me in line. They have fixed things anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes while I wait.- I tried to set up one of my bikes with tubeless tires and must have visited them five times without them charging me anything. They mounted the tire, offered their compressor to form a seal, and even gave me some spare valves. This was all on tires I bought on line. Next time, I will just buy the tires there and have them mount them. I saved maybe $40 on the tires and spent several hours doing the rest myself. If you need to save the $40, they will be there for you. If time is more important than $, youll be better off going to them directly.- I had a few issues with my SL7 that they handled nicely. The disc rotors were initially quite loud. They fixed the rear one almost immediately. The front one persisted for quite awhile and they ended up switching out the discs and rotors for free no questions asked. That solved the problem and Ive been quiet ever since.- It is easy to waste money on on-line stores. While I have saved some money on some parts and accessories, Im pretty sure Ive wasted all those savings by buying things that didnt quite work out. At Spokes you are mostly paying retail, but you know what you are getting and the staff can help make sure you get the right stuff.- During COVID, I have even been buying from them on line. Most of the stuff I want seems to be retail anywhere you shop. I used to scour the other sites for bargains and occasionally ended up buying on line for a tiny bargain. Now I just start with Spokes on line and unless its an emergency, I still tend to buy from them.All-in-all, they just seem to be there to get you on a bike so you can have a good time. That always seems to be their first motivation. They will take your money when you are ready to buy, but youll get a tremendous value from the overall experience.

The first time I visited I was one if two customers in the store. I waited 20 minutes before asking for help. Today, fairly busy, but after 30 minutes of not being helped and watching customers be helped as they walked through the door, I just left. It was frustrating and embarrassing. The 3 stars is based on the help I watched others get.

Drove from NYC to Virginia because Spokes was the closest dealer that had the bike I wanted. The staff was incredible. They answered all of my questions, helped me weigh the pros and cons when last minute doubts about which bike to buy set in, and most of all, they didn’t apply any pressure. They even got us in and out in time for a post-purchase ride on the new bike. Great experience.

I got my old, inexpensive bike serviced, and no one was judgmental about the quality of the bike or tried to sell me a nicer bike. I got new brake pads installed, and theyre working great so far. The installation was super quick, and there were no surprises in the price.

Their prices are incredible and the service shop is quick, knowledgeable, and helpful. If you need anything done to your bike, this is the place to go. I couldnt recommend them enough!!!!

It was painless process to get what I needed done. They were flexible on my timeline when I could pick up my bike.( I was going to be away for a period of time. I also took advantage of their spring tune up offer, I was able to save and invest money in other parts of the bike. Also the bike rides a lot better after the tune up and other replacement.

I stopped by to purchase the bike i was looking for some time. I knew what I wanted but also needed someone who is knowledgeable and could make the purchase fast and easy for me. Carl is very helpful and is a SME. It took me 30 minutes to test ride and walk out with the bike in top condition. I test rode it when I got home and can say it is perfect. I would recommend these guys and they also have good stock on both Trek and Specialized and also do custom builds and custom frames with specialty brands. So stop by and support your local bike shop. Specially at these times when they need your support.

I stopped by this shop in Arlington about 5-6 years ago. I wasn’t ready to upgrade, but I fell in love with he shop. Recently, I’ve been in the market for a serious upgrade and I happened to be in town for a concert. I stopped in on my way back to Hampton Roads. A couple of hours later, I drove away with my new bike in the trunk. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I had a great time testing bikes and talking to the staff. They had exactly what I needed. It’s usually difficult for me to find the perfect 61, but not that day.

Best top-end bike shop in the Washington DC area. Youll find the staff extremely knowledgeable and the shop has everything youll need to get rolling. I bought my first bike (hybrid) from here 9 years ago and the latest road bike Im on today.

I bought a Specialized Como e-bike and was not comfortable on it..the seat was weird..so Tyler got me a different seat..and I rode for a few months but still needed a different seat. He ordered me another and didnt charge me for the first seat...He has incredible patience and Im very happy with the bike and the seat...Good Guys!

I purchased cycling shoes @ Spokes. Zach was absolutely incredible! He was extremely knowledgeable, efficient and made the experience delightful! Additionally, he helped me find this amazing pair of shoes and had them shipped within a few days. Looking around the store, I noticed that the inventory is quite extensive. If they don’t have what you are looking for, they will go to great lengths to find it!

I like the service and the knowledge of the Spokes, Etc. team. I always enjoy going into the stores. This was my first visit to the Wilson Boulevard and Quincey Street intersection location. Its a nice location and the team is very knowledgeable and helpful. My bike was repaired there yesterday (Saturday) and I am happy with the repair - the chain and my back brake pads were replaced. The bike feels like new again. I then decided to buy another bicycle. It was on sale and I purchased accessories to make it like the bike I rode in on - a kickstand, a bell, front and rear lights, rear wheel rack, and paneers to hang on the rack. I said I would be back today (Sunday) to pickup the new bike and ride it home. The Sunday hours are very convenient. I arrived about 4:00 PM and the new bicycle was all ready to go. I had also purchased a combination bike lock. I was helped with setting the combination. All in all, it was a super experience. Thank you. I just need to have the seat adjusted upwards, and perhaps have compound applied to the seat stem to keep the seat from slowly sinking down. I can request that tomorrow.

I had brought in a part i had to purchase from ebay it was a front derailleur 6700 ulterga group set/ service tech was trying to salvage the part in order to save me money/ i advised him that i appreciate him trying to save me money but i was unable to return the the part. he did changed the part out for me on the spot. so i waited for it to be finished/i also bought a pair of gloves and was surprised that they were 5 dollars off how ever there was no signage saying they were on sale.

Also helped after my bike purchase with tutorials on how to use my new clipless pedals. Very knowledgeable, very polite and just great to work with. Would definitely recommend!
