We recently had four tires installed and within two months had a flat. We misplaced our receipt for it and when needing a new tire installed were asked for the receipt at another Subaru dealership for the warranty coverage. When calling Gustman Subaru they immediately recovered our receipt and emailed it to our new dealership and they gave us the warranty.Great dealership to work with!
This place is the best. All car dealers should look hard at GUSTMANS on how to handle customers. Like I said GUSTMAN IS THE BEST. Keep up the GREAT WORK.
Great experience with Subaru parts. Very fast processing of my online order that I picked up from dealership. Jodi does a great job!I also had recall work done to my Subaru. I had a very positive experience with the Service/Garage staff.
Jared Oatman is a wonderful salesman. Very friendly, willing to work with you. Love my Subaru
Scott, the service Manager, has been absolutely wonderful with my car ever since I bought it. He fought to get me a warranty recall fix on a car thats 9 years old, and I got it for free. Hes been my go to guy for everything ever since. If I could rate more than 5 I would.
I called and talked with Shane in rhe service department today. When I explained the issue I was having, he was honest and said they were booking out a few weeks. He gave some suggestions to help in the meantime. Thanks Shane!
Zero inventory makes it a challenge, but the salesperson was helpful and friendly explaining the issues and when things are expecting to return to a more normal environment.
Mark was informative, attentive and flexible as our test driving & question answering time surpassed this locations 0osted hours.
Would have definitely gotten 5 stars, but the prices are too high. EXCELLENT service department staff! Friendly, knowledgeable and professional!!!
They fixed my car after a part was recalled, and they did fine on that aspect. BUT they do NOT enforce the statewide mask mandate. They was another customer in the waiting room with me who was not wearing a mask... and to make matters worse he had the most disgusting cough I ever heard. There are few Subaru dealerships in the fox valley, but I’d rather take my business to a place that enforces local government regulations and doesn’t put customers Lives at risk. Also there was various employees who were not wearing masks.
Absolutely 100% satisfied with my experience at Gustman. Jared sold me a 2021 Subaru Forester Touring and I am so in love with it. I was really happy with the quality of service that he provided. This was my first Subaru and definitely not my last!
Worked with Subaru before and I ended up buying a Red Legacy while I went in for an oil change for my Forster. Great team there.
Worker with Ed. Nice guy. Gave me a great deal on trade, now a proud Suburu owner.
Go see Fuzzy; candor, honesty, attention to detail. Cant be beat!
Shane was very nice and helpful!
Greatest trade in value. Just bought a new car. Way to go Gustman
Juist purchased a used Outback from the team there at Gustman and was very pleased with the experience. Ed Engelman was excellent throughout the whole process of buying the car. Loving the car and am a lifer now for Subaru, what a fantastic car!!
Take these guys over Bergstrom any day
Upfront and no pressure.
Avoid this place!! They are misogynistic and extremely rude. The salesman literally cut me off mid sentance, turned his back and walked away from me. I 100% know it was because I am a women, even though I was making a fair assessment and suggestions on price when I initiated negotiation talks. I made it clear I was prepared and willing to pay in cash on the spot too; guess they think a women doesnt deserve a fair price.
The team here is really friendly, keeps you updated on progress while searching for the right car, helps find great options for financing, and has great vehicles! The only part they should improve on is not trying to sell warranties with their cars... They sell it with the cat but then they have nothing to do with them and nothing ever gets covered. Other than that, theyre great!
Best place to buy a car!
I had an excellent experience with the folks at Gustman. Had a transmission issue while visiting from out of state for the holidays, and they worked to fit me in to their busy service schedule. Shawn was extremely helpful and communicative throughout an inherently stressful situation. Id definitely go back if I lived in the area!
Kind of have mixed thoughts about Gustman. On one hand:They have given pretty ok service most of the time, provided a loaner car (on occasion, but not always when promised) or a ride to work, and a nice place to wait if you stay there. The parts department girls are always nice and are excellent at finding the parts I need. But on the other hand:The service advisors are quite irritating and not knowledgeable.By irritating I mean things like, when you walk up to the counter they all ignore you. They stare at their computers and try really hard not to notice that you are there. And then they talk to you like youre 16 and have never owned a car before.Do most Subaru owners not know anything about cars? Also, asking them to make changes to your personal info like name and phone number 4 times and they still keep calling the wrong number and asking for the wrong person.Super irritating. Then there is the issue of asking for things to be looked at or fixed, but its not done.I am usually told there was nothing wrong.I have been asking them to look into the AC compressor making a noise for over a year now and they keep telling me nothing is wrong. Except after my last service when I didnt ask about it. Then when I picked up the car they told me it was making a noise!Really? You dont say!Not sure if this a service advisor issue or a mechanic issue. So there it is. If you are a car person and actually know something you might be dissatisfied. If you are not, well, you might be okay.
I just graduated college and was looking for my first ever car. I found a Subaru Forester through their online inventory that I loved. Bob was an extremely patient and helpful salesperson, and they were able to work with my financial situation to come up with a price I could afford. I am absolutely in love with my new Subaru! Would definitely recommend Gustman Subaru and Bob in the future.
The employees, notably Ed and Mark, were super helpful. They were able to answer all of the questions my dad came up with, and there were apparently a lot, and get a nice car for me to last through college at a great price for a college student.
Heather in service is extremely rude. I’m a new customer, traveling from Colorado, calling to bring my Subaru WRX STI in which was purchased from an official Subaru in Wyoming and she has no time and no idea when she’ll be able to get it.Get better service reps. Bad representation for Subaru.
Purchased a new Forester from here and was very happy with the service. The sales people were friendly and not pushy. They also were you able to answer my questions.I have since used the service department twice and was very please on both visits. The first was a issue with the radio not remembering the saved stations and the second was an oil change. The radio was fixed with a software update and the problem has not comeback. The oil change was on time and done in a timely manner.
Parts Depot girls are the $h¡T. They have attitude so beware. But its all in good fun. And if you hang around long enough they will even find you the parts you need.
Heather and the team at Gustman Subaru of Appleton were so great. I had a rock hit my windshield on the way in to get an oil change, and they had someone come fix it promptly, and for a reasonable price that day. Highly recommend for good service!
Wish there was a way that I could leave a 0 star review. Set an appointment for an air bag replacement as part of a recall (Paperwork from Subaru says it is a 1 1/2 hour job and this is an immediate safety issue as left unfixed this has the ability to kill a passenger in the event of an airbag deployment) - shop called the next day and cancelled stating this is a 3 hour job, not a high priority for them, and they dont have any openings the remainder of the year (its April). Overall just a poorly run business with people that will hang up the phone on you mid conversation. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, YOU CAN DO BETTER!!!! (Highly recommend Cliff Wall in Green Bay!)
Very rude, unknowledgeable service advisors in the service department. Treats customers very poorly. Sounds like that’s typical at this dealer based on other reviews, and speaking with others who have been here. Some people should not be service advisors...
I recently had my car repaired at Gustman Subaru and they did an excellent job, my car is just as great as the day I bought it! Thank you!!!
Great people to deal with. Fair price on new cars. In
Awesome service, relaxed atmosphere
We had a great experience with this dealership when buying our 2018 Crosstrek. Bob was our salesman, and we couldnt have asked for a better one! Were so happy with the new car and the excellent service. Definitely worth the hour drive to get there. Ask for Bob!
If you value the life of your Subaru like I did and do then do not bring it here. I brought it in for a recall and came out with all my warning and check check engine lights on. When asked why they would call me to ask if I wanted my pollen filter replaced and not mention that that I had these lights on, which were not on when I dropped the vehicle, I was given the response well you should have known they were on because you dropped off the car. Why would I have a filter replaced if I had bigger problems. If you enjoy being swindled then here is the place. If you want good service and quality work look elsewhere.
Subaru recall. Got me in and out within 30 min as promised. Great job!
Upon referencing a vehicle we were very interested in buying on their very own website, we drove an hour to find that the price on the window was $2,000 more than their own website has it listed for. This was the same for every vehicle there! The salesman who we talked to, Bill was nice, until he contended that we should have known this from some non-existent ad.
Brought my NEWLY bought Subaru here because of multiple lights being displayed on the dash at once. man at the front desk was extremely rude and short and refused to run it through the computer for the codes and said he would not even look at it for another 2 weeks. Completely unimpressed
Bob the sales guy was a great pleasure to work with. No pressure selling..
I was just notified that my outback has not had the airbag recall issue that had not been resolved of after registering the car for my teen son. When I called and spoke to the service department they indicated that the best they could do was put us on a waiting list that might get us in sometime next year! The letter from Subaru indicated that the vehicle should not be driven and that the issue was life threatening. My family and siblings have purchased over ten vehicles from this dealer ship over the years. Both at this location and the previous location and used them exclusively for service. NEVER AGAIN!! I called Bergstrom in Oshkosh and was able to get in for an appointment 6 days out. After many years of great service and sales relationship with them we will be taking our business elsewhere. Anywhere else...
Been a Subaru owner for 7 years and always had serviced at Subaru dealer. Visiting Appleton this weekend, I needed to have an oil change and snow tires changed out with my summer tires. Service friendly. However:I paid $110 for the tire swap. Never paid more than $60 at any other Subaru dealer.Oil change nearly $50. My last oil change at Don Miller in Madison ran me $16.32.Wont be back. Disappointed in you Gustman. Gouging.
Both phone calls and now my in person visit were handled with a level of unprofessionalism I have never witnessed at another dealership. First I was told they wouldn’t do it the engine test, then after Subaru corporate requested I call back I was told there’s no point but they would schedule the appointment anyway, and once I picked up the vehicle I was told to pay which corporate explicitly stated they would absorb. When we asked to discuss with the manager we were denied that ability and told to pay. I love my Subaru, but this issue with the engine, and the lack of professionalism at ground level deters me from ever wanting to buy another one. Find a different shop to goto if at all possible.
Went in for an oil change. Fast friendly service. Part of the service is a multi point inspection. Service man went through what they did. Quick check out. Will return.
Gustman Subaru took care of repainting my passanger mirror after some of it had chipped on the house. It was replaced there about a year ago but I wasn’t expecting it to be done so quick and easy. I dropped it off and picked up the next day. I will be back for all my car service/body shop needs. Thank you!
I recently upgraded my 2012 Forester to a 2016 Crosstrek; half of the experience was the service I received. Ive never been asked What can we do to make this happen?; there was no back and forth, and they gave me a very good deal!! Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this dealership.
All good. Polite. Good mechanics. Always a positive experience.
After some discussion, they matched internet prices of other dealers in the area. Had to order one out, only took 5 weeks. Always had good service until recently, a/c quit working, they charged for estimate to repair.
Bruce and the shop team are super awesome; my car looks brand new! Thank you for taking care if her and fixing her up!
Great service, Bob took care of us from beginning to end, he is knowledgeable and great fun. Answered our endless questions patiently, walked thru the process and even helped set up our phones the day we took delivery. Had such a positive experience. Thanks to the Subaru staff there... worth the drive from Fond du Lac!
Factory recall being addressed brake light switch failure. Appointment was to take 30-40 minutes. We are at 70 minutes and counting.
We purchased our Subaru approx 3 weeks ago from Gustman, the service was awesome. Bill Fuzzy Nolte was so wonderful to work with. I would say if you are looking for a vehicle stop into Gustman ask for Bill! Thank you Gustman!
Great place to do business with. I own and operate VL Performance and this establishment has far exceeded all of my part needs. A+++
Fast service, and friendly staff. Service Manager had a better coupon then we did. Thanks!
Our second Subaru from Gustmans!Loved the first vehicle and look forward to many happy years with the second one!
Pleasant and quick service. Particularly like the body shop staff!
Great customer service and friendly staff. Bill Fuzzy Nolte worked to make my experience go very smoothly.
Took three weeks to get scheduled for my car to get fixed and they said it was going to only take 6 hours and I dropped it right off in the morning before they even opened and I called after waiting a full day and said they wouldn’t have it done until the next night tomorrow. Awful service!
My wife got a good deal on a car.
Went to get the outback low tire pressure sensor fixed. $450 estimate, because all 4 should be replacedOrdered one new one on eBay for $8 and Grishaber service charged $30 laborI hope they are more reasonable next year when timing belt likely needs replacing
Very helpful with everything after my father passed away
I purchased my first Subaru 18 months ago. The car itself is phenomenal, but the service from Gustman is horrible. The maintenance department is a complete joke and are extremely rude. Maybe its not a common thing for someone to research their vehicle and make an effort to understand maintenance needs, but I do. This is apparently offensive to this dealership. If youre ignorant about your vehicles needs and are willing to pay inflated prices, than this dealership will serve you well. However, if you are at all informed and educated, they will treat you like trash, belittle you in front of other customers, and provide you with some of the worst service out there.
Loved it. Bf talked me into buying a new impreza. Love it
Love. its what makes a subaru, a subaru. no shortage at their dealerships
Gustmans always provide great service in both Sales and Service!!
Great Dealer good place for service and parts
I will give them (and my 2018 Crosstrek) five stars. When I bought my 2016 Crosstrek (now my grandsons) there was a glitch in communication on which model I was buying but Jeff and Bill (sales dept) fixed that with good humor. Then I was rear-ended two months later and Scott and all in the service dept did a superb job of repairing it. With my new car I have experienced some difficulty understanding the icons and a quick question has been answered by Dan with a smile (on repeated occasions). I have loved both Crosstreks-And the drivers seat in this one is out-standingly comfortable!!! Now (2021) want to add five stars to the service department. Just this week they were SO VERY helpful with a lost item I thought needed taking a vent off to find. Saved me MUCH money and were so very kind about spending the time-and successful as well!
Unreasonable swindling and rude customer care.
Had bought my 2014 Subaru Crosstrek àt Gustmas of Appleton Thank you Bill LOVE LOVE IT ♥️💕
A Very nice time there, friendly and acomidating people.
I had always loved coming to Gustman Subaru because of the great job they do, also they have a very friendly staff and an amazing body shop!!
Ive wanted a Subaru for the last 8 years, my Ford lease was up so I did the research and went in to see what they could do for me. I laid out my situation and all my info, basically asked is this possible and two hours later I was told no. They also offered literally zero incentives, lied about a couple things (Subaru doesnt have incentives, Bergstroms 3000 sale is a minimum trade etc.) And gave the impression that they dont care if I buy/lease a car or not.So I left Gustman at 4:30pm on the last day of the sales month and drove down to Bergstrom Subaru in Oshkosh. I laid out my situation again, and drove off a couple hours later in a new Subaru Legacy Limited.
As always great service and a fair price. Friendly people too.
Craig for salesman, Scott for service, great technicians.
Good service Department, Prices hmmm! Friendly staff
Not sure what happened to my 3 star rating from November, but probably better that it not artificially inflate their score.November 2017 - brought 2009 Subaru Legacy in because it was in limp home mode. They determine it is a fuel sensor but also say the head gasket needs replacing. I investigate and confirm 2009 standard aspirated cars had issues with head gaskets but turbos did not and most replace the gasket with the turbo version. I complained to Subaru US and they gave me a $500 coupon.June 2018 - Check engine light comes on and I bring it in. I express that symptoms are similar to valve cover gasket failing (dip in RPMs at idle, oil down but no drips on floor). They say fuel sensor failed again and they replaced for no charge.July/August 2018 - Check engine light comes on again and goes off. It comes back on again in late August.September 2018 - I checked the oil and it was down 1.5 quarts but none of it was on the floor. RPMs are dropping at idle and popping back up. All the same symptoms as a few years ago when the valve cover gasket was leaking into the spark plug area. I scheduled an appointment. They call me and say they didn’t see any leaks, the engine RPMs drop with the AC kicking in (not normal to drop 500 RPMs), and that it needs CV boots, which could explain the smell of oil burning. I ask about the engine code from the check engine light and he says he didn’t have a note to check that but then acknowledged he saw it on (it was in appt notes and I reminded him this morning). He checks the engine code but doesn’t call me back. I call him at 4:55 and he says the engine code is for a drop in voltage and I asked what that was for and he says sometimes it is the AC. I ask for a ride to pick me up and he says everyone is gone for the day. At least he cleared the bill on this one and the check engine light. If it comes on again, I’m going to Christy’s to have it repaired.
Had service work done here, so far it has been pleasant.
Went in for an oil change today. Your service staff should go to Bergstrom for lessons. I drove into the shop. No one acknowledged that I was there. At the service desk neither attendant acknowledged I was there until I said something. At Bergstrom a representative comes to your car immediately and greets you and asks what they can do for you. Then they escort you to the service desk and from there into the waiting room. The rest of the oil change was uneventful. After the service, Bergstrom washes your car not just the windshield.
I did not have a good experience with Gustman Subaru service department. I took my Subaru in for repair, because it seems that after Gustman Subaru completed a Recall on the Airbags in my 2008 Subaru Legacy GTThe dash lights and door open bells no longer worked which is a huge problem driving at night. I dont know for sure if the Airbag Recall was the fault yet but nevertheless Gustman had my car for 2 weeks, in which they also did an Oil change, but could not fix the problem and gave up on trying to fix it. There was no phone calls on updates as to the progress. I also had purchased the extended Warranty, which didnt seem to matter as far as fixing my car. I was told by Al in the service department, that a Subaru Representative was on site also to fix the car, and they could not repair and told me I would have to live with it. I am done with Gustman! I have scheduled up an appointment with Bergstrom Subaru in Oshkosh, WI.I will follow up with results
Very disappointed in the service department. Mainly the Service Manager. Called him TWICE last week concerning a problem with a remote start I had put in my 2017 Crosstrek. It only works from 40 ft. Or less. Ok... might as well go in my freezing car. That distance does No good. He tells me that the 2017 had a key fob issue with that ... ok nice to tell me AFTER I spend 400.00 to have it installed. He tells me he will contact Subaru and see what he can do.. uninstall and reimburse me. Well guess what .. Im still waiting for his phone call 8 days later. Never returning to this dealership.
2019 Update: Changing from 1 to 3 stars for improved service, friendliness, and being helpful. We had a safety recall for the air bag and Bergstroms Subaru repair shop was several weeks out and in Oshkosh. So instead of waiting and driving to, I went to Gustman since there wouldnt be any money out of my pocket and this would be more convenient. They were able to do the airbag repair in the time alloted and even did a no charge fix of where my wife had plugged the car dog leash into the baby seat carrier connector and got it stuck. They did awesomely on this and genuinely seem to care now. If I need any very Subaru specific work done again, I will go to them.I hope you have a wonderful day dear reader! :)***2017 Review Below This Line***After 7 (2010-2017) years of issues, I am no longer willing to utilize Gustman. We purchased our 2010 Subaru Forester from Gustman back in 2010. Sales experience was decent. Since then, service has been problematic. We have had issues with at least 1 out of 3 service interactions with Gustman. Here are 3 examples that span from 2010-2016:1-Within 1 year of getting the vehicle, I installed a K&N air filter to increase horsepower and torque for towing our small popup camper. After taking the vehicle in for an oil change, I was told that the air filter had to be replaced. I told the service manager that I need the old air filter back. The service manager left for a few minutes. When they came back, I was told that the old air filter was thrown away and was already in the dumpster out back. I indicated that the air filter was a K&N rechargeable air filter that cost almost $100 and that I myself would go look through the dumpster and asked where it was. The service manager asked me to hold on one more time and left the desk again. A few minutes later they were back and I was told there was a mistake and my K&N air filter would be put back into my vehicle.2-Our Subaru started to have a rattle underneath around 30,000 miles. Gustman was unable to identify it. It continued to rattle, so we asked about it on the next oil change and they still couldnt identify it. After 36,000 miles (end of bumper to bumper warranty), we took it in for another oil change and asked about the rattle. Catalytic converter heat shield, not covered under warranty. Funny they couldnt find that out before it was out of warranty. Also, there fix lasted for about 24 months.3-Late in 2016 we got our last oil change at Gustman. The safety inspection paperwork wasnt completely filled out by the technician. 2 of the wheels valve stem caps were missing, and the Forester leaked oil in the garage because the oil filter hadnt been tightened. We got a survey call from Gustman and I indicated all the issues and asked if there was anything they were going to do about it. The final answer. Nope. No money back, no apology, nothing.I dont know if its a underpaid and/or over-scheduled technicians and/or other factors. I sincerely hope that someone at Gustman reads this, learns, and works towards becoming a better company. If they do and want to contact me, my name is unique and in their records associated with said 2010 Forester.I wish you, the reader, a wonderful day, week, month, year, and life. :)
Great vehicles, prices, and service is absolutely great.
Stopped by last year with the intent to purchase a WRX and had a buddy who had experience with buying cars. I let him do alot of the talking as we knew what we were looking for and didnt need the sales pitches, that and the last time I bought a car from a dealer was 15 years ago (private purchases of used cars since then). That of course didnt go well with the sales guy that we got. When my buddy asked if he could run the numbers for lease terms the salesman asked who this was for, and we said it was for me. It seemed that bringing along an informed person who knew their own game offended him. He went as far as asking if my buddy was my dad. Needless to say I didnt buy anything from them, and ended up going to Green Bay for my purchase.I had the reverse 100% opposite experience at Cliff Wall Subaru in Green Bay. I could tell the sales person recognized he had customers that were informed, and despite that fact he was helpful in every way possible to assist us. Even searched for the WRX I was looking for outside of the state. Thats customer service.Maybe I just got the wrong salesman that day, but if theyre employing rude people like that there, Ill take my business to another town any day. Blatantly insulting your customers because they come with someone who is informed of the car sales process? We wanted numbers they could run off their price tags, didnt even get to the price negotiation yet.
Absolutely loved it I bought my new car here
Called to get a quote because they dont do internet pricing like everyone else. I was told they dont do that and I would have to come in. Sorry, Im not driving 2 hours to hear a sales pitch. I said well then I guess I wont be buying a car from you and I was told thats fine...bought from a local competitor (a dealer trade from Gustman LOL) 2 days later who offered internet pricing and a sales pitch free experience.
I love my Subi!👍😃😄
This place sucks you always have to wait for a salesman and the service writers are slow also the cars are over priced, there is no organization, one time i had witnessed the general manager yell at one of the customers and at the salesman, how this place has this good of a rating is beyond me
Kyle is always good to work with
Buyer Beware and read the Fine print...s
They set us up with a new Outback and have been there for our needs since.
Fast and friendly.
I was shocked by how rude the service department was at Gustman, and came here to see if others had a similar experience. After calling to get a quote on some work, and asking a few technical questions I was cut off by Al with, whats with all the questions? Whats your game here?. Looks like others have had similar experiences.
Nice guys, love our car
Great Service as always
Great people!
Verry nice people
Slowest service ever. Told wait time and was double the time or more.
