Always a favorite when I come to the area. I made an impulse decision to get a seasonal drink but wanted to add espresso. I asked the barista, Peggy, if I could add espresso and if that would be weird, to which they answered “yes”. So we will see if my drink has espresso or if she just thinks I’m weird. Regardless, Peggy deserves a huge raise for all the great service! Can’t wait to come back!

Its a coffee and Tea shop folks. Dont expect transportation to nirvana here although youll hear otherwise around town. It is a comfy, clean and friendly place to sit and work for a couple hours while you have a coffee or tea and nobody will bother you while you sit there. Definitely a good place but dont buy into the Ann Arbor hype about places being spectacular. Its excellent for what it is. A place to sit and drink coffee or tea and have a scone or some other baked good.

The pastries are delicious and you can get the standard coffees. But what makes Sweetwaters a great place to visit are the other drinks they make. I love the lemonade because its not too sweet. They also make a great ginger ale. If you like ginger, its nice and spicy.

Great ambience with large space inside - good for rest/study/work.

Great place to enjoy a refreshing beverage or a caffeinated one. The seating is pretty good with indoor and outdoor available. Give it a try and catch a nice sunset; they have the best seats in the town for it. The frappe no whip is my favorite.

Sweetwaters is always fine. Their store made ginger drink is fantastic. Service is always acceptable. Just cant help but think there could be more options on the menu.

Excellent place for catching up over a coffee. They serve a variety of coffees, tea, cakes, sandwiches, and cookies. Place has good ambience. They also have vegan option in cakes. Tried their vegan chocolate cake, which was pretty good.

Love the atmosphere here. Cold brew was excellent and pomegranate green tea was amazing. I love local coffee and tea houses that really get into their own products and cater to what locals like. Highly recommend this place.

Excellent coffee and pastries. If you have a free Saturday morning come in and visit with the regulars. Everyone is friendly and happy to visit with you. Especially Michigan alumni.

Can the baristas please consistently serve the Dreamy mixed or not? They seem to have started recently always serving them mixed.

Avoid a barista named Mack if you can. Her negative energy is depressing. You should quit your job if you hate it that much. Yikes..

Calm environment! Great for studying or just relaxing! Has a great variety in tea and coffee and even food to munch on! My go to place for a relaxing spot in town to get away or to just study.

I was surprised at the variety of different products and drinks that Sweetwaters had to offer. Aside from a nice selection of coffees and teas they have desserts and snacks and knickknacks. The staff was super friendly and caffeinated and were quick with our order.

(back of house they recycle some, but) anything from customers—cups, lids, straws, napkins, etc. NO.i cannot fathom it. 28 years in business in sweet old woke ann arbor and they dont recycle. pre-pandemic they let you bring in your reusable cups, so theres that. but, ;/.I want to pen a sweeping account of the floor-to-ceiling window I sat by on a high stool at a large table looking over a brick wall lined with original art, but they. do. NOT. recycle.

I was drinking your sweet, sweet, oopy, goopy beverage when I noticed a strange man with a cane looking at me funny. He was to my left. I looked him dead in the eye. “What do YOU want, wise guy?” The old geezer promptly got up and walked away. I returned back to my usual endeavors, such as drinking my Chocolate Dill Pickle Del Grande. What’s this? I hear a distinct snickering behind me. Gasp! Great ambiance and service. We had an iced tea and chai. The quality and taste were great. Staff was friendly, professional and quick.It would be a great place to sit down and do some work while sipping on a delicious beverage.Their tea selection is great, so definitely try some and maybe a slice of tiramisu to go with it. Great place in Ann Arbor! Will revisit next time I stop again in the area.

Another first for us! Sweetwaters has such a great atmosphere, friendly staff, happy customers, and a good variety of drink, snack, light meal, and dessert options. The caramel steamer was a perfect option for someone like me who cant have caffeine. It was enjoyed with a great company and the opportunity to get some reading done. We cant wait to go back.

I went for a happy hour BOGO special. Drinks were tasty as usual. One star off for not having a public restroom available during COVID - made it much harder to enjoy my coffee since Id stopped in during a long walk & had >2 miles to go to get home.

Hands down, the best coffee shop in A2! The baristas are really friendly and will work with you to make your perfect coffee. The pastries are always very fresh, and there is also a selection of sandwiches, soups, and various lunch items. The internet is generally fast (although that’s not a guarantee) and it’s a great place to eat breakfast, work on an essay, or just hang out.

Great place to grab a coffee! They have a unique spin on some of the more standard drinks by making them with condensed milk. Those are the dragon version. Also has many places to sit down and enjoy whatever you have ordered. It looks like a great place to study by the amount of student with headphones on! Very chill quite coffee house vibe.

Latté and Cappuccino taste ok but not as smooth as expected. The coffee flavor is a little weak.

Great place to do work or homework! The staff is friendly and outgoing. During school especially this place can get pretty busy, but if you’re like me you’ll love that.There is not a lot of places to charge a laptop, so if you go there when it’s busy you might not get a spot with an outlet (just a heads up).

Their slice of chocolate cake is not bad :)

We liked the frozen coffee

I’m visiting Ann Arbor for the first week of a new job. Went here this afternoon for coffee with teammates and everything here looked so delicious! I got a mocha icedragon drink and it was fantastic for a hot day. Seemed like the place was fairly busy but I felt like we didn’t have to wait long at all. After we had ordered and paid, the wait was even shorter for our drinks to be prepared. Really enjoyed this place.

One of the only open coffee shops we found on a Saturday afternoon. Very friendly and quick service. The passionfruit tea and iced vanilla latte were really good!

Love the ambience in here, and their Lattes as well! Great people watching.

I was visiting Ann Arbor this weekend and decided to stop in and get a cool drink. The staff was very friendly and had on their mask and made me feel comfortable

Good cold brew!

Coffee is strong and delicious. This is one of the better coffee and shared workspace around town. If you buy something every couple hours or, so you could stay there all day and they don’t care.

Great place. Havent been here in years, but still exactly like I remembered from when my wife and I used to hang out here often. Wish I could come back more.

This has become one of my go-to places to study. My main complaint is that I wish there were more charging outlets at this coffee shop. However, their Thai Iced Tea is really good and I really like the decor and the overall vibe of the place. There also arent as many University of Michigan students studying here as there are at other study spots, which to me is surprising. But it is a good way to get a change of pace in terms of studying environments.

The four people working on the friday evening I went were not interested in their jobs. there were four people standing behind the counter but it was the slowest latte I have had in forever. unfriendly. didnt smile or welcome us or say thank you. I didnt get the impression anyone was in charge. To top it off, my drink wasnt even hot, I had to heat it in the microwave. I am giving three stars bc they always have high quality menu items and pleasant, clean atmosphere.

Attractive environment in an older Ann Arbor building. Typical Sweetwaters in their offerings of a variety of good food, well above-average coffee, and excellent ambiance.

I would say this chain is trying to be starbucks, but starbucks wishes it was as nice as Sweetwaters. Great coffee, chill atmosphere, plenty of space to work. If it was easier to get to, I would go every day.

Excellent place to get your morning Java. Great Baristas serving up your favorite morning beverage. Outstanding variety of coffees available and single, double, and triple sizes. A wonderful assortment of muffins and pastries. Fresh fruits are also available. Generous amount of indoor seating as well as out doors. Metered parking available.

Really good coffee

Love the atmosphere of this coffee spot, and love the coffee! Fabulous flavored drinks, and straight plain coffee as well. This is one of our favorite stops whenever we are in the area. Their desserts are definitely worth the calories too :)

Definitely my favorite cafe in Ann Arbor. The place is cozy, staff are friendly, and atmosphere is really nice. Coffee and sweets are okay but a bit pricier that other coffee shops, so thats the only reason the did not get 5 star!

Wonderful ambiance; very warm, inviting, and comfortable. There are quite a few delicious coffee concoctions to choose from as well as a wide variety of teas. The Ice Dragons are a nice treat on hot summer days (regular versions are very sugary, but taste great). At this specific location there is a fairy door between some of the back tables. This is a pretty special space.

Large, comfortable Coffee and Tea shop, that was a go-to place for me to get some work done when I lived in Ann Arbor. Now its a go-to place for me to work now that Im visiting Ann Arbor more often again!

I like this sweetwaters location the most! Its very near to the Ann Ashley Parking structure and is a good spot for corporate meetings. Its in the heart of the city with lots of great places to eat nearby. They are spacious and have a wide variety of teas and coffees. My fav is their cocoa cappuccino and french Vietnamese au lait.

Besides the fact that Sweetwaters has fantastic coffee shop ambiance, my favorite thing is a very gentle espresso that tastes more like French espresso than any coffee shop in Ann Arbor. None of the bitterness or bite the other places have. Definitely a refreshing difference, and that alone makes it worth a visit.

Absolutely amazing coffee, lattes, and beverages! At this place, you dont need to put a bunch of stuff in your coffee to make it taste great, but youd be missing out on some of the best tasting coffee based dessert beverages youve ever had. Also, the non coffee stuff is legit, too. All in a great atmosphere with REALLY comfy chairs :)

Great Carrot Cake!!!

Hands down my favorite coffee and tea option in Washtenaw County! There are many options, but I never question that Sweetwaters is the best by a landslide. There beverages are delicious, the teas are delightful and the treats are worth every bite. Try the bacon Chive scone for something savory or some of their delicious sweet treats as well. Staff are welcoming and they remember you! Its a fun place to people watch, work, read and enjoy the scenes in downtown Ann Arbor, the greater Ypsi and Ann Arbor areas. A must visit!

The atmosphere is great and its a good spot to chill and relax the music is nice and Im addicted to their drinks both the tea and the coffee. Its also in a nice place in town that you can do quite a bit of walking to explore the city.

Shop is good - however the clown looking guy at the counter is a jerk. He is rude and needs training in talking to customers. Ask for any other person to order stuff if you want to avoid bad experience.

Plenty of seating and a good place for telecommuters. Theyre premium espresso is worth the extra dollar.

If you are not a fan of Starbucks this place is a great space with good coffee

I like the options here. Im a non coffee drinker but I from home so finding a cool place to work that has a lot of options is a huge plus. Great wifi and great atmosphere. Id choose this place over Starbucks
