Blocked off seating, making it slightly less inviting. Nice green plants inside. One one drip/pour over coffee available. Kind staff. Great quality product. Standard higher coffee shop prices. Lot of gay propaganda items- also standard for coffee shops. Quick visit from people paranoid about covid. Overall, okay place.

Cute and aesthetically pleasing to the re-purposed, cozy-industrial eye; It is clean, light, and soft. Not loud like some say. Just like anywhere else, the staff is hit or miss. The last time I went in it was good customer service, as for other times, though, they were a big miss. For example I asked for a coffee to go, I was waiting for my other company and decided to sit inside (only about three people inside as well), only to be glowered at the entire time waiting. Not even there for five minutes. The food is always an experience and I would recommend the mint-lemonade for a first timer. The coffee is rich and heavy, wonderful for winter weathers of Michigan. And the cold drinks are wonderful for any summer heat. Would go again for more experimental cups of flavor.

Would have been 5/5 but the woman who made my drink was rude to me. She didn’t do latte art which come on we all love that. Didn’t pay $7 for a sloppy latte. The buttery flower latte with oat milk was very DELICIOUS! I would go back but she gave me such bad vibes I couldn’t even enjoy the drink there like I had asked. Cookie was divine! Service was not good with the two girls who were working it made the experience bad though. 😔

This coffee takes coronavirus very seriously. Only one person can come inside and order and others have to wait outside, but not for long. We had the brown sugar latte and it was really good. They also have cute desserts as well. The quality was great of the coffee and the coffee shop in general is cute as well. Don’t forget to wear your mask!

This place makes good coffee that caters to college students and townies. Please come here instead of Starbucks to support local businesses! Pretty good. I had a pumpkin spice latte and it was okay, not as good as the Starbucks. The hot Apple Cider was amazing, and the iced pumpkin spice was also really good. I like that there are a variety of milk options as well as other add-ins, such as caramel apple butter which we added to the apple cider. The one thing I didnt like was how they have the payment set up. I understand that with COVID they have the barrier, but if you pay with card that practically make you tip because they just ask how much you would like to tip, not if you want to, and they show the payment screen with the options. I normally tip my baristas, but it feels like an obligation this way instead of an option and I wish they would let you pick the tip like the Sweetwaters across the street does.

A couple of us stopped in late morning to get a coffees to go. The place was almost empty so it was surprising that when we walked in, we werent greeted. I said, Good morning, and when neither of the women behind the counter looked up, I asked, How are you doing? One of them finally raised her head but never responded. The other never made eye contact the entire time we stood there. We didnt see a drink menu so went with the default - a couple cups of house coffee. We were told that because it was pour-over only, it would be a few minutes and she would bring them out when done. We sat at the long, tall table right in front and waited.I didnt particularly care for the décor as it was rather cold and uninviting but it was very clean and the music overhead wasnt distracting. I see from other reviews that they carry a good selection of pastries but we only saw a couple items. It was close to 10 minutes when we heard her holler over to us in a rather irritated tone: TWO HOUSE COFFEES! So I guess she wasnt going to bring them over after all. Not that I minded but when you are told otherwise, you expect otherwise.I hate to tear into a small business because I understand the commitment it takes and in support, I always try to shop local. Unfortunately the poor service and unwelcoming atmosphere puts the kibosh on this one. Perhaps it would be a good practice to step out from behind the counter and speak to the those who have chosen your establishment over the numerous coffee shops in A2. It doesnt cost anything to be friendly your customers and tends to help grow your business.

I was waiting for dinner at another restaurant and passed their chalkboard sign advertising their Brown Sugar & Sea Salt latte. I returned after dinner and was not disappointed! I could taste both flavors subtly, and it was a very tasty latte! There was ample seating inside, and I spotted a few extension cords if youre planning to stay. Theres no wall menu typical of most coffee places, and I couldnt really find one. Also, theres no actual sign outside indicating the name, so its a bit difficult to find if youre not looking closely.

I got the salmon and tuna poke bowl. The fish was very fresh and clean. However, the brown rice in the bowl was hard. Since there is a decent amount of rice in the bowl, it greatly reduced how much I enjoyed eating the bowl and found myself just wishing I had more fish.Parking is convenient as it is surrounded by a neighborhood. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They also have seating options outside the building itself, so if the day is nice, it is a great option!

I have had better coffee for much cheaper. Lab is a certain type of coffee shop in Ann Arbor. It looks clean, put together, and not what you would expect to find halfway down the block. When you walk in you are not greeted, judged by the clothes you were wearing, and treated with little to no respect. And you are treated this way just because you didnt show up to a coffee shop in designer clothing. This is a coffee shop for the elite, someone who wants to pay $5 for a shot of espresso. When I asked the apathetic counter lady if there was any nuts in one of their delicious looking cookies, her response was why do you want to know? Im asking I said because Im allergic to nuts, and was wondering if I could eat it. She responded with well it doesnt look like there is. And I asked do you know or are you just assuming cuz I dont want to have an allergic reaction. Is it possible that you could check for me? She gave me a Blank Stare and then ask it what kind of coffee I would like. I decided to get a shot of espresso with some milk in it, specifying that I do not want coconut milk or almond milk I wanted milk. And she said oh you want Dairy Milk. I didnt know that we were calling it that nowadays, but I guess I was corrected. The coffee was okay, but the reason why Im giving it to Stars, instead of one. Was the second employee that Im at who saw my interaction with the first, she came back and said I checked the ingredients list on the cookies and theres no nuts, also I call milk milk and she gave me a smile.

The lab cafe (with a lowercase L) is my new favorite coffeeshop since moving to Ann Arbor. They have good coffee (and mocha, latte, etc) served in real, sustainable cups (with self-service dish bins near the exit), and excellent pastries. Case study: the first time I went, I ordered a coffee and a vegan cookie and I as a non-vegan couldnt taste that it was vegan - as smooth and creamy as a cookie made with butter. I dont know how they did it but Im impressed.
