Very good service. Workers were kind. I only got a water, which was free, but my friend got a pour over drink and enjoyed it. Good use of space for a small location.
Best coffee in Ann Arbor, hands down. even their decaf is so smooth. friendly baristas, too :)
Jim and Brandon are amazing and the sipping chocolate was hands down the most luxurious thing Ive encountered in the past month. Ill be back regularly and you should go too.
Amazing cortado! Small shop in the arcade with lots of great coffee options for coffee lovers
Great, smooth and unlimited variety of coffee with limited seating. The aroma is hypnotizing and irresistible the moment you walk into the arcade!
Not enough people online rate coffee shops strictly based on a straight pulled shot of espresso. Soooo here you go person visiting Ann Arbor googling for the best shot of espresso - never had any other drinks here but the espresso is bomb
Their “Hand Drip pour over coffee”is really nice!!! Definitely, the best hand drip coffee around Ann Arbor! They always have different coffee beans so it is fun to find new kind of nice coffee!Since many other coffee store in Ann Arbor stop serving pour over coffee, it is now kind of rare coffee shop in this city.
My favorite place for coffee in Ann Arbor. I use to come here for latte but got into drip coffees. They offer both deliciously made espresso drinks and really good single origin drip coffees.
Awesome location in the alley. Very quick service and covid friendly. I got a very simple iced latte dulce. Was tasty. Next time will get coffee a little less dressed up.
Best Macchiato Ive had in a minute!Do yourself a favor and get the sparkling water back with!
Great coffee and friendly staff. We come here every time we are in town!
Nothing better than sipping truly excellent espresso in the galleria.
This is by far my favorite espresso bar in the entire world. Comet is the perfect balance of minimalism and hominess... they just happen to make amazing coffee.
Amazing espresso and friendly staff.
Beautiful roasts & knowledgeable staff.
Unaffected smileCoffee in the cool morningWarm experience
Always so pleasant and such a lovely brew. Great social-distanced setup!
I really like this place particularly because of the location. Nichols arcade is just a really great place and this is a nice little coffee shop where you can get a really good cuppa coffee and hang out and do work or just have a social conversation. If you’re walking through Nickels arcade stop by here.
One of the best tasting cups of coffee in Ann Arbor. Only a small portion of the shop is dedicated for study/laptops. Keep in mind also that they do not have a bathroom and it can get really crowded and loud. But its a cool spot in Nichols Arcade overall. Perfect after an Indian buffet meal at Madras...
Excellent coffee.
Always good service and excellent coffee.
Fantastic coffee shop! They are passionate about coffee and love what they do!
Cute spot under the Arcade. Tasty iced coffee but no cold brew.
I love comet coffee! The atmosphere, the staff, the coffee!Cant wait for them to open back up
This is one of my favorites in the city. Its small, but you always feel lucky when you snag a table on a warm summer day in the arcade. There are no outlets for guests (although there is WiFi), and some tables are marked as laptop/tablet free. This setup encourages you to focus on why youre there: to enjoy a carefully prepared coffee or tea.
One of the best things about comet coffee is how great the baristas are. They are kind, knowledgeable, and above all EFFICIENT at what they do! Every drink Ive had here tasted wonderful and was professionally made.
The best coffee shop I have ever been in. Im not a coffee drinker. Before going there I had never really had coffee I liked. A friend told me that if I go in they will MAKE me like coffee. And they did. I told them to surprise me and they gave me something as thick and rich as consomme with a smooth coffee flavor.
Fantastic coffee in a little hideaway. Best spot in the University/State street area.
Delicious drinks that dont need to be drowned in sugar to be super tasty! Very small shop that packs a delicious punch, super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Good milk alternatives for the cow-milk adverse.
Comet Coffee is the best. Every coffee is a pour-over made to order, including their iced coffee which ensures it has character and body, never bitter. They also have simple syrup and strawless lids for their iced drinks. My favorite!
The coffee was really good and has opened my eyes to the wondeful world of gourmet coffee. The atmosphere is funky and fun. The staff were engaging and entertaining. Very good place for quick, tasty coffee.
This is my go-to spot for coffee when Im on campus. Quality coffee, made fresh using pour-over. They have a nice small selection of beans, as well as teas and pastries, all of which have been consistently good. Friendly service always. This however isnt really a spot to sit and work for a while as seating is pretty limited, though its a nice spot to chill and meet people if there is room.
Best pour-over near campus
I cannot praise the staff enough, they are incredible friendly and helpful! My problem is the prices per portion size. I couldnt make this place a daily visit and their small coffee is one of the smallest Ive seen. Still, their staff is very approachable and nice.
This is a tiny little cafe with outdoor seating and small tables inside. The staff were nice and it’s located in the cool arcade part of Ann Arbor. Unfortunately, they do not have any outlets to plug into, so be forewarned for that before you go. The tea I had was good.
Good espresso, not much seating or standing room. Would recommend for coffee-to-go.
What a wonderful little spot! The Açaí bowl and poke were delicious. The place is small with only 2 indoor tables. The staff was friendly and welcoming.Very easy to eat here with dietary restrictions.Go check it out!
Great coffee! I finally wandered in after passing through Nickels Arcade many of times, and was glad I did. The person at the counter was kind and gladly answered my questions about all the options. Price was same or less than Starbucks but better taste -- much less bitter :)
Enjoy coffee under the arcade glass roof of Nickels Arcade, an arcade that has served as home of finer stores since 1917. The coffee drinkers arrive from classes at University of Michigan across State Street. However, the tables that await you in the cafe have been reserved as a no laptop zone. Kudos to one more strong coffee house brand in Ann Arbor.
I have been on a mission to find the best mocha in Ann Arbor. I have visited 6 coffee shops in the past 2 week. All have been disappointing. So far Starbucks is making the best mocha however they set the bar fairly low. The Comet coffee shop is quirky fun however the mocha has received my lowest mocha rating thus far. Most coffee shops use some type of commercially produced syrup to flavor the coffee making my pallet convulse with disappointment.
One of many feet great coffee options in Ann arbor, easily in my personal top three!!
One of my favorite cafes in Ann Arbor. Id recommend, give it a try.Nice people, nice coffee, nice pastries and stuff!
Update: The owner reached out to me and assured me that this has been taken care of and is not the norm. Well be backI used to really love going here. The coffee is always top notch. But I was disappointed during my last visit to receive a large side of judgement and attitude with my drink order. My wife, 2yr old daughter and I stopped by for some coffee on a chilly afternoon. The barista made our drinks and my wife asked for a sleeve for her cup as her hands are delicate. The barista rolled her eyes saying we dont have those. So we asked for a second cup. Well that didnt go well. We received a long stare and the cup with a comment of make sure you put this in a compost bin when your done. It may not come across as the worst comment, but in the moment and even now we felt unwelcome and disrespected.
Its the best espresso in Ann Arbor, and while the ambiance is a bit cramped and angular, the staff is kind to me on a regular basis, making it feel cozy and welcoming. If you are in the mood for simple, flavorful, and great quality coffee/cappuccinos/lattes, Comet is the place to go. Their brief tea selection is also awesome.
The best coffee shop in town. Great multi-roaster, pour over and iced coffee menu (changes frequently) As does the espresso. Well trained, friendly and knowledgeable staff. A warm and bustling atmosphere filled with interesting people.
By far one of my favorite coffee shops Ive been to in awhile. Small and cozy and environmentally conscious.
Probably my favorite coffee in town. Ive been coming here probably more often than I should the last 2-3 years and have never been disappointed. Espresso and espresso drinks are delicious, pour over coffee is wonderful, and take-home bean selection has a relatively wide and quickly rotating variety. Pastries and tea selection are also pretty swell.
Fantastic staff, delicious coffee, and a very hip/modern atmosphere. I love how the drinks are made in terms of using the coffee drip technique. Theres a lot of care by the barista in ensuring the drink is made correctly the first time. Had a positive first-time experience.
Comet is without a doubt the best coffee shop in town. Its rare to find such exquisite coffee at such a cheap price. Please go visit this wonderful place so it stays open for decades to come!
Fun place. Tiny tables, pour over, snacks all the little things in one diminutive place. Enjoy the coffee times while youre shopping for shoes and trinkets.
A classic selection of very good coffee. Nothing super fancy or complicated, if you’re looking for different flavors. My current go-to coffee is latte with oat milk. Yum.
Best multiroaster in town! Their selection showcases some of the best roasters in America. Better still, their baristas are well trained and know how to handle the coffee to shows its best flavor qualities.
Quaint coffee shoppe with delicious coffee. ☕️✨Despite being busy every time I have visited they have excellent service & good drinks repeatedly.
Good coffee is very easy to come by these days. There are at least three nearby coffee shops with similarly good brew quality. Thats a simple reality. The nice thing about this spot is the outdoor seating... Or so I thought. The indoor seating is cramped and furnished with plywood chairs. So no reason to sit around indoors here. Unfortunately, two of the three outdoor tables are marked no laptops allowed. I went to this coffee shop every weekend this summer up until now, just so I could sit outside. Two tables were taken, so I sit down with my laptop at the third. It has the sticker, but nobody else was using laptops so it shouldnt matter right? Wrong. Was told I had to leave the outdoor seating. So if you have to use a laptop, you have almost no chance of being able to sit outside. Inflexible and illogical nit picky stuff like this means I wont be going back.
Probably the best coffee in Ann Arbor (which is really saying something because there are so many coffee shops in this city). Only complaint is that sometimes the atmosphere seems a bit pretentious. I guess its justified because the coffee is really awesome. Definitely the place to go if you are picky about the quality of your coffee, you will not be disappointed.
Great coffee perfect location. One of my favorite cycling destinations.
Wonderful coffee and very helpful and friendly staff. There has been a lot of complaints about the seating but it really isnt uncomfortable and I personally like the no laptop tables as an addition to the atmosphere. The big miss here is no bathroom for customers. This makes the amount if time you can spend here very limited as the nature of coffee is such that bathrooms are desirable fairly soon after youve finished a cup or two.I would love to visit more and make this my regular spot but, unfortunately I have to dock two stars as it is missing a very important standard for this industry. This is regrettable and I hope this policy changes but, I also cant blame comet for opting-out of the customer restrooms given its size and the relative extra labor involved in having these facilities. Still, this keeps me from being a regular and might you too.
This is a small coffee shop inside the Nickel Arcade. It definitely caters to a specific clientele that I dont generally identify as; I was just looking for some drip swill coffee to wake myself up; I walk in to find that any coffee I want would need to be drip-brewed for me on demand. That being said, I ordered my specific beans from their list of artisanal coffees and had a lovely, flavorful cup of joe. I probably wouldnt go again but thats because my coffee sensibilities are too dull to truly appreciate the artistry of fine baristas. I wont let that detract from my rating, because if you are into that atmosphere, youll find Comet Coffee a great place.
Small place but with a good location and ambiance. Hard to study or work there as the machines fill the room with noise, but its not the kind of place meant for that kind of thing. Nice for a quick meetup.
Had a cappuccino there today as it was my first time giving this place a try. It tasted amazing! I will definitely go back there again and not to forget, the staff were very polite :)
I can go quite far out of my way for a nice espresso. By far the most terrible espresso experience of my whole life. This thing tasted like if it was made of raw coffee beans, or pure acid, either way... I just could not drink it at all. Awful. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Also, the place has no restrooms. I guess thats one more incentive for the customer to not stay and never ever come again.
Coffee is probably the best in town and the staff is super nice.
De. Lic. Ious.Amazing coffee. Probably the best cup Ive experienced since Intelligentsia. If you are a drinker of delicious, boutique coffee, preferring the tender loving care that comes from a pour over or dialed-in espresso drinks, this is your spot. They also feature a wide variety of boutique coffees made from our friends section and brewing equipment for sale. Ann Arbor is fortunate to have them.
Definitely talk to the baristas to see what they recommend for you. They make their coffee utilizing a variety of techniques, which are all pretty interesting to watch. Great spot for a great cup of coffee to end the night and walk around Ann Arbor.
Decent coffee, not such a nice coffee place to spend some time but good for coffee to go
Great coffee but I wish they had a bathroom!
I love the rotating selection of coffees and the friendly staff. The shop itself is small (sometimes a little too small for efficient traffic flow), but nipping in and out for a quick drink to go has never been a problem.
Very good craft coffee, great for serious coffee people
Quaint, comfertable, and great coffee. Very nice service with top notch stuff you xant find at a starbucks. Resonable prices too. Would strongly recomend
Great coffee and service in a great location.
Great place, but its seriously small; be ready to switch up your order to go if its a busy day. Definitely a great atmosphere to study when theres a seat available
One of the absolute best places to go for a simple espresso drink. Nothing fancy here, but whatever you order will be prepared flawlessly.
Best cup of decaf Ive ever had!
Cute place, sweet staff, great pour over coffee!
Assam Tea is very nice..Must try!
A very small shop. Service is friendly and the taste of coffee is good
Cappuccino was delicious!!
Loved this small cute coffee shop. Its a bit cramped but the staff are friendly and their coffee is good
Comet espresso does the trick and their cappuccinos are quite strong. The only downside is limited seating and they can get crowded - its a place to sit and enjoy your macchiato (tradition style) and then move on.
