My favorite bike store. Nice history lesson in fatbiking, very knowledgeable staff, people that ride and race. I love coming here.
These guys love bikes. They take care of their customers. Did a great service way under budget despite parts shortages.
Great staff! Helpful and very knowledgeable. Nice small town shop feel every time you go in.
Always helpful and friendly. Great bike shop !
I highly recommend this bike shop! Moved here 1 year ago. Bought my fat bikes here (GAVE ME A KILLER DEAL WITH FREE UPGRADES). Manager - Paul is the man. He is so friendly. I have had maintenance for regular mountain bikes and my fat biked done here. They do an awesome job. Quick turn around and excellent availabilityIf you are newb about something they dont treat you poorly for your lack of knowledge. They are helpful and not condescending. CHECK EM OUT!
Speedway is AWESOME. Every time I go in the staff want to help me like Im the only person in the shop. My last two interactions with the shop have made speedway the only shop in town I want to give my business to.On the first occasion, I brought my Fatback in to be serviced to sell, and they just didnt just tune the bike up, they cleaned it to look as good as possible, caring about their brand. Thier mechanic Cameron is who I worked with.On the second occasion, I was preparing for a big international bike touring trip and wanted to have my bike tuned, I ended up leaving with so much more than a tuned bike, Cameron the mechanic has tons of bikepacking experience gave me a lot of valuable insight and advice. If your going to go touring in Alaska, stop in Speedway and ask for Cameron, the odds are good that if your riding a bike in Alaska, hes done it and can give you the beta
Super knowledgeable, friendly staff all around. Not pushy or trying to up-sell at all. This place should absolutely be your go-to Anchorage shop for advice, knowledge, and service.
The staff at Speedway are top shelf professionals, highly knowledgeable, seasoned Alaska riders, and will go out of thier way to help you choose the right bike for you, or get yours repaired the right way, in a timely manner. Its a fantastic shop, great product layout, and a pressure-free environment.
The only bike shop that I shop at. Staff is great, they dont try to push old inventory on you. Very helpful and actually remember your first name. Great public relations. When they build your bike, they are detail orientated and will tune to your size very well.
Awesome group of professionals with quick turnaround time as far as service goes. They installed new brake lever, hydro hose and caliper on my stumpjumper in 2 hours and gave me a tune-up. Got the bike back same day.. on a Saturday! So stoked and will be back!
For the past 8 years I have biked year-round as my main mode of transportation. I recently purchased a fat tire bicycle and took it in to have the tires changed at speedway. They were very friendly, very open to me asking me questions and they worked quickly to make sure the bike is up and running so that I could get back to my routine. I really appreciate their attentiveness and Im sure you will too.
Great shop with a great vibe
Great place for people who love bikes. Tucked in next to Hording Marmot, its a great place to buy, look at, or just talk about bikes. The staff are awesome: really kind and knowledgeable. They also sell a fair amount of bike accessories like helmets, shoes, tools, etc. Definitely worth a visit!
Great folks great service. Highly recommended!
Staff is all great to deal with, whether youre a repeat customer or a first-timer.The mechanics and sales staff are very good to deal with.Ive also had questions after buying which theyve answered and/or troubleshot free of charge.Pretty much everything you want in a local bike shop.
Great experience every time I visit this bike shop. Started coming here for Fat biking parts and advice. I been riding a FatBack Corvus since January and could not be happier with this bike. Great in the snow and on the single track trails in the summer!!! Staff if very friendly and mechanics knowledgeable.
Great Bikes, great people and terrific service…
Great Customer Service! I always appreciate the knowledge and experience of the staff.
Ive been a customer of Speedway Cycles since 2008. At that time I was new to biking and had visited 3 other local bike shops. Greg @ Speedway Cycles was the only one who took the time to help me through my initial newbie questions. Ive purchased multiple road, mountain, cross, gravel and, of course, Fatback bikes from them. The service from Tim and all the guys and gals has been spot-on. I cant thank them enough for their continued prompt and friendly service. Thanks!
Had nothing but a great experience with all the dealings that both my girlfriend and myself have had with the people there at speedway. I see some bad reviews from people and all I can say to them is, I guess you cant please everyone. And we love our fatback bikes!
After my first visit in Speedway, I decided to buy from their shop. The team at Speedway is awesome. Jeff, Mike, and Charlie were all involved in the purchase and tuning of the Rocky Mountains Soul 29er I decided on. Just cant say enough good things about these guys. Great mix of knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and kind. No hard-selling or elitism, just and all-around great team. I would recommend Speedway Cycles to anyone. Anyway, Im off to ride. If you guys at Speedway see this, thanks again for everything!Kowabunga!
The staff here is excellent and friendly, they helped me get a bike that fit me and the build package I wanted. They even made sure I have everything I needed for any miner trail fixes.
Speedway Cycles has been my go-to for years. Every bike Ive gotten has worked well and lasted longer than intended. If I have any issues, they go the extra length to take care of it on-the-spot if they can, and if not they get right on it. Ive never been without a bike for very long waiting to get it back. The owner and manager are avid riders which really shines through when discussing bicycles or upgrade options. My latest bike is a 22 Corvus (the first carbon fatbike frame in my size!), and its been a blast to ride in the summer with a 29+ wheelset. I couldnt be happier with the bike or the service that got me to the point of owning the Corvus.
Fast, knowledgeable and friendly. Perhaps most important, is very active in supporting the community.
If you want a doozy for a story, get ready.Four characters: Big Brother, Mama, Little Sister, and the Bike DudeSetting: Big Brother from the L-48, Mama in Anchorage, Me from Europe. We are Alaskans, born and raised, just living far away at the moment.Big Brother did his research and wanted a to ride a real treat down Alyeska over his 2-week Alaska vacation. He picked a nice Kona bike and asked Mama to pick it up for him the day before he landed, so he could hit the trails!Mama went in, bought the bike, and right at the checkout told the guy helping her, Wait! Im a senior! Could I have the discount?Sorry. The transaction already went through.Mama is clever and says, Then cancel it and put the card through again.Bike Dude thinks shes an easy dodge, and tells her, I cant do that. Im not the manager.Whatever. Mama isnt going to throw a fit over $30 off or whatever the senior discount was. She takes the bike. Everything is good.Big Brother gets to town and rides the trails like only a mountain biker can. He stops by the shop 10-days later, only to see that his bike is now on discount! Now, $350 bucks off anything is a pretty penny. Problem is, that he is taking off in just a few days and doesnt have time to go by the shop. Now meanwhile, Little Sister (me), shows up in Alaska and wants to buy her first nice bike. Mama is all happy because shes on the way to the bike shop to ask about the discount that came out a week after she bought Big Brothers bike.Mama and I walk into the store. Nice store, might I add. We talk to a nice employee, tell a few jokes, I say I want to look at a started bike and mom says she needs to ask about Big Brothers bike, receipt in hand.Youll have to talk to the manager.Who do you think walks out from the shop area?! Yeah!! Bike Dude!! The same one who said he couldnt give Mama her senior discount!Steam started coming out of Mamas ears, but I really wanted a bike, so she kept her rage at bay and asked, Bike Dude, my sons bike is now $350 less, and we are within the 30-day purchase limit. Could we have the discount? This Bike Dude who is suddenly called a manager says, No. I cant do that. But since I messed-up on your senior discount, Ill do you a solid if you purchase a bike today.Im stoked. Awesome! Id like this bike right here! What sort of solid discount are you talking? Call me naive for thinking hed apply the discount off the other bike, and apply it to mine...Bike Dude has the nerve to say, Ill take $59 dollars off.We couldnt. We just couldnt. So we walked out the store. Now, Bike Dude, if you are reading this, some words of advice. A small business owner lives off loyalty, and that comes through excellent customer service. In this case, you could have sold 2 bikes and a truckload of gear, but chose to sell 1 lonely bike. Logically, returning the bike and giving Big Brother or Mama in-store-credit would allow them to buy the bike at the new bargain price and essentially guarantee that the $350 gets spent on gear, because everyone would have been so happy about the deal. Little Sister would have bought a bike with accessories - and first time riders who are serious, know that the first drop is going to be a couple grand. It is your loss. And for you readers? This isnt the only story of the managers dishonesty and inflexibility. Ive got another from a friend, and if you want to know it, Ill post. You can bet that Ill never come back. If you want to support your local bike shop, ask another one to help you out or stick to the online deal til this place gets their ego in check.Ride safe.
Excellent shop.
Great bike shop
