L&M has been a great go to for all vehicle repairs, upkeep and general maintenance. Their staff answers the phone in short order, works with you on your specific situation and timeline. If youre looking for a repair/maintenance shop that doesnt have a drop of oil on the floor-not for you; but if youre someone that knows what mechanics do, and appreciate straight forward feedback on the state of your vehicle and realistic outlines/timelines of what it is going to take to get it to the ideal point youve outlined-(AC is important....or not)- they listen, communicate and make it happen. They respect/support Military-(ask about the discount)- and are close to the airport-( for any number of conveniences). Its my AK go to for the vehicle that lives there! After 3 other tries years ago, theyre my go to. Only wish Id found them sooner!!
L and M was amazing with their service. They were top notch and explained my issue with me and was patient with all my questions. I will continue to do business with them. I highly recommend to anyone.
Back in October I made an appointment with L&M and dropped my car off before a five day vacation. During those five days I never received a call or any update so when I was boarding my flight home I gave them a call to be informed they hadn’t even started my car....FIVE days after my appointment day. I asked if they could at the least put my winter tires on since the roads were getting slick and they agreed to. Yesterday, I loaded my tires up to do my seasonal change to find that they had only put THREE of my studded winter tires on, and left a summer on. How does this even happen? This is one of the simplest services you can receive at any auto shop. How did they forget to swap a tire?I spoke to my roommate about this and come to find out he has also been to L&M and told me that he was missing aftermarket parts off his car. They also lost a key of his. Do not go here!!!! So unprofessional!
Really unprofessional kept my bmw x6 for more that 4 months and never did any work on it, even tho i bought a brand new motor they didnt touched it. They gave me lame excuses, had me waiting for calls that i never received...DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE,.IT IS NO WHAT YOU SEE ONLINE!! CERTIFIED GARBAGE!!!
Okay, so I made an appointment with them last week for this morning, wrote down the time and place and everything. Somehow I ended up taking it to a completely different shop on accident. Completely my fault. She called to check to see if I was coming and was extremely professional and nice. I hope to try to set up another appointment to use this shop when I get my truck back from the one I accidentally took it to this morning. Extremely nice and professional. Will update when I try to reschedule!
This shop is amazing. They were so kind and lovely to work with, got my car in and done faster then expected. Kendall Ford was going to charge me triple the amount. So grateful for L and M motors!
My rear drum brake was cracked and to be fair they were able to fix it but I was quoted $200 less of what they charged me when I came to pick my vehicle up, there was nothing different from the time I was quoted either. They charged me extra for brake seals which is something they knew they would have to do when I was quoted the first time. they told me my vehicle would be done 3 seperate dates and was not done, then I asked for the 3rd time when my vehicle would be done and they just flat out told me they didnt know. Its been 11 days now so far I havent had any problems with my brakes.
They are great people and very knowledgeable ABOUT ANYTHING having to do with your vehicle
They have great mechanics who work hard and get the job done in a fast and affordable way. They have great communication with vehicle owners. Keeps you updated on changes or status of your vehicle.
L & M Motors has come to our aid more than once for our vehicle and we are so blessed to have found a place we can trust to take our car to. The mechanics are great! They diagnose the problems and inform you right away and then let you make the decisions on what you want to do. Christine at the front desk is super nice and helpful too. She immediately arranged a tow for us the minute we called for help. If you want a place to take your car or truck for repairs, that is honest, trustworthy and has great customer service, then I suggest L & M Motors. They have our business for sure.
Very friendly and I felt that they were giving me the best value and options
Made an appointment a week ago, however, due to sickness, I cancelled my appointment. Mike and his mechanical team does great work. If, you do have problems with your vehicle, they will find the problem and the prices are reasonable. He is always busy, so you much call for a reservation. He will not let you down and his work is guaranteed. Again, he is one of the best mechanical ships in Anchorage.
My wife took her vehicle in for an inspection to be sure it was safe to drive prior to being able to get it in for service. (Possible break or drum issue). One of their crew members pulled the tire, inspected the break and drum. All appeared fine.He asked to test drive the vehicle to better understand the issue. He came back. Put it in reverse and dislodged a very small rock which was responsible for the terrible grinding noise. My wife was sent on her way after 40 minutes of“Inspection” Thanks L&M crew and staff.I will gladly be back for for future vehicle service.Thank you !
Great service and got us in quickly. Work was thorough and quality. Will definitely go back.
Thursday evening had a car that would not start and i suspected it was a battery issue. Called L&M first thing friday morning and they were able to squeeze me in that morning, test the battery, detect the issue, replace the battery clean the terminals all in time for me to make my 11am appointment. Highly recommend. Efficient, thorough and fair price
Initial appointment Customer service was decent to good. Professional workmanship and standing behind their work, AFTER you’ve paid? THAT is a negative. I brought my vehicle in to get it checked out and have the heat looked at, I was told I needed a new radiator and heater core. I was quoted nearly $600 for the repair, they did the job, charged me $1k, they apparently had “unforeseen difficulties”, then the heat still didn’t work. I asked them about it and they spun me some BS story about I’ll have to spend another $3-400 just so they could continue looking at it, and that my vacuum hoses probably need replacement...seriously??? They were RIGHT NEXT TO THEM WHEN THEY DID THE RADIATOR AND HEATER CORE.Then I took my work vehicle in to have the headlight changed, as well as part of the wires (they were corroded near the contacts), when I reviewed what they did, they put barrel connectors to connect the wires together but didn’t use anything to protect the contacts from the weather (heat shrink? Anyone?).It’s been a while now and I refuse to go back for any personal vehicle needs, I decided against leaving a review, but they keep sending me a request for one.SOOOOO, here it is!!I probably have over 2 dozen of those emails in my trash bin.Point blank, I don’t recommend this company and I’m sick of the emails asking for a review.
Weve had work done twice by L & M Motors and have been very pleased both times. The first time we were amazed at how much tighter the car felt, and all grinding and shimmying were gone. The second time we were given a quote and when the cost of labor turned out to be considerably more than the original quote, Mike stuck to that original quote and did not charge us more. We have found them to be very easy to work with, honest and on time. We will definitely continue to go there.
The staff was pleasant and courtious. Veteran friendly!
AMAZING service!! Great staff well knowledge. Must visit for your next service.
These guys have been helping me out for about 2 years now. Always friendly, trustworthy, even helped me recover a fob a dropped in the lot a while back. Service is always fast and they are always willing to help you out with your car problems. Highly recommended for auto problems.
They might take a bit longer than expected the day you bring your car in, but these guys do a great job and Christine at the front desk is super sweet and helpful. Ive brought my car in twice now and theyve always been helpful.
We made an appointment and took our jeep in for a total inspection. We had just bought the jeep and its old (1998) but we wanted to know what we were looking at having to fix in the near future. My boyfriend did some research and found that L&M specializes in working on jeeps. When he talked to the person on the phone about the appointment, he told them what we knew and about sounds that we were hearing. We took the jeep in and they had it for the whole day...dont know how long they actually looked at it. When we got it back the estimate they gave us was for rebuilding both our front and rear differentials. Basically the only thing it seems they looked at was what we said we thought had problems. There was no mention of anything else in the vehicle that they even looked at. When my boyfriend called to ask about this, the mechanic said he didnt see anything catastrophic. That sounds like a blanket statement to cover up the fact that they didnt even look at anything else. We paid $105 for an inspection that by all accounts we didnt even receive. We have now taken the jeep to another garage and as far as it is now, the things that L&M said were wrong may be what needs to be fixed but it may be something else entirely. I believe that they just sent us out with an estimate that would benefit them ($2500 worth) and that was that. We wont recommend this place or ever go there again. For a place that supposedly specializes in jeeps, they dont seem to care much.
Just called for a free estimate and their office said that would be a diagnostic. The woman I spoke to just kept repeating thats $105 per hour. I even specifically asked simply, can you give me a free estimate on anything? The woman follows up my question, with a question whats wrong with your car? If I could give 0 star, that would be my review for wasting my time.
Ive been taking my 1987 BMW 6-series coupe there for some time, and am impressed with how well they can work on this rare (in Alaska) car. The only issue they couldnt fix was a complicated transmission problem (which even a tranny shop took three months to fix). The owner, Mike, is very down to earth and honest. The front office manager Wendy is very friendly, and both of them are responsive to your phone calls. Theyre often very busy, however, so a quick repair doesnt happen. Thats the only thing I dont like. But if youre looking for a good car repair business that does a good job fixing cars of all types, you cant go wrong with L&M.
Friendly, down to earth, honest car repair.I brought two of our family vehicles in last week for oil change and tire rotations. Unlike some places, these folks didnt try to sell unnecessary services. When we have car issues in the future, they will be getting our business.
My car died on me on the highway one Saturday, so I didnt make an appointment. I understand that without an appointment it could be a few days, maybe over a week. Ive called several times about an update on when/if they can see my car. Its been over 2 1/2 weeks, and still no follow up/return call about my car. 1 week has passed since they said they were going to look at it that day. Still no call or repair done.I wasnt asking for much after waiting well over 2 weeks, just a freaking return call. Thats it, they cant even do that.My car has a coolant leak, which if memory serves correctly, is what they repaired last time.
Over tightened the lug nuts so much it warped the rotors. They changed the oil without contacting me about it. Use to be a good place has gone way downhill. I recommend going somewhere else.
The owner knows what he is talking about, The prices are reasonable, and the technicians only fix what is broken.
L&M timeliness is horrible. Called on a Monday to make an appointment for Thursday for a squealing engine noise. They looked at it late Friday afternoon, and said it might be the alternator. Of course they are closed on weekends. Monday mid-morning, confirmed its the alternator and will cost $750 with 4 hours of labor. Here it is Monday night, and its supposed to be ready Tuesday. If this was our primary car, Id be livid at this point rather than very disappointed.
Great company. Always takes care of our vehicles in a timely manner.
Been using this place for 8 years now with various vehicles and jobs done. Happy with their work.
Its a family owned thats been in business for 31 years that offers great customer service
They fixed an exhaust leak. The problem returned due to a faulty part. They stood by their work and fixed it for free. I recommend this place.
Great people, great work and FAST
Been going there for repairs for years cant remember a come back.
I will never return to this place of business nor will I ever suggest it to anyone even my worst enemy. They always upsell you on things you dont need. They always have your vehicle for over a week. They never call you with an update you have to call them almost daily and it seems to be an inconvenience for them.
Great service and fair prices but they can be slow, probably because so many people know theyre good.
Nice people and honest service. Thanks for your hard work!
Very bad quality work, poor customer service, expensive - my Tacoma got worse after each visit.1.) 1400 dollars of work for regular maintenance seemed high... should have been a clue. Oil leak was not fixed but the alignment was so bad I lost 2-3mpg until I could take it back in2.) After charging me more to fix the bad alignment that I didnt have before bringing the truck in, I attempted to leave but the battery was dead (I could play music for hours and start it up cold before, now it wouldnt hold a charge at all.3.) I refused to leave the truck there for fear of more damage assessing my electrical system - who tries to charge you more money for assessment before just trying a new battery (got one at costco and all good since)?!?Who returns a car to a customer WORSE than when it arrived? No excuse for that.
Good service fair prices
Great people with great friendly service!
Helped me track down a pesky exhaust leak on my 97 F250. They took the time to accurately diagnose and fix the problem, and then stood behind their work.
Not happy with the service, wont be going back to them for anything
My 1999 Suburban was leaking antifreeze from the intake manifold - big job time wise - brought it in on a Friday had it back Monday - price was reasonable - first time using the shop - I know finding a good shop can be hit or miss - for me this was a hit ! - Phil
Great, family owned, mechanic shop.
Helpful and dependable service.
Its ok but its kind of expensive for an oil change
Always fix my car up to brand new.
