Good place for buying some south Indian snacks. We buy variety of lentils, beans, pickles and north Indian nan. They sell good amount of Thai canned fruits. Several times I got expired packs! Now I read and double check the manufacturing and expire date. Owner is nice enough to exchange my expired packs few times.
Great place to get imported items you cant find anywhere else. The owners are always nice. Still requiring face masks but they are nice about it and they provide them of you dont have one.
Love this place! Lots of hard to find ingredients and produce. Its fun just walking through the aisles! Plus, its the only place in town I can find the ramen my kid loves. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, too!
I finally found japchae n bibimbap here...
This should have been my first stop on my hunt looking for certain ingredients. They carry a large variety of items, and good customer service. I will defiantly recommend and continue to come here.
Huge variety of imported ingredients and an incredibly friendly staff. Ill always recommend this place to friends and family, its one of the cornerstone local businesses in Midtown.
Little expensive but lots of Korean food. Good
This is not only one of my favorite stores, but its one of my favorite places. They have everything I loved growing up and all kinds of extras. The owners are friendly and everyone social distances and keeps their mask on. Additionally, the dishes for sale are unique and high-quality.
Not a bad place for the food market.
Excellent selection of Asian/indian foods. Employees are very helpful, even for a customer like me who only speaks English but likes cooking real food
Great small shop, picked up fresh ingredients to make bulgogi, and kim bop
Mostly Asian food not cheap!
I was so DISAPPOINTED in this market. Ive read all the bad reviews on this market, and surprisingly they are ALL TRUE. I experienced it for my self too. Make sure to read all the reviews before going to this market. Be careful when you are buying vegetables in a box. She intentionally takes out some items as she is packaging them. A lot of items in the store are expired, and I personally heard the owner lady saying you wont die from eating expired food. Its okay. Also, a lot of the items are overpriced. I know that a lot of my korean friends no longer goes here.
Great Asian food
This place is stinks inside the store.👎
Today, we bought a box of cabbages but when we opened the box, ONE CABBAGE WAS TAKEN OUT BY THE OWNER. Our family has bought cabbages from this market for several years. Every time we buy it, there always has been AT LEAST one cabbage missing. Last year, we bought the same box and there were only 5 cabbages. When we told the worker, she said that the owner PURPOSEFULLY takes out some cabbages so all the boxes weigh the same. Um but dont all boxes weight the same when they come to the farm? The box says it is 1 7/8 Bushel. We know that when they ship the boxes, it come in full box. We do not understand why the owner take out some of the cabbages EVERY TIME. She must take out the cabbages to make kimchi which and sell in the market. I had to leave a review this time because we are sick of how the owner DECEIVES CUSTOMERS. She should know that this is against the business ethics and integrity.그래도 이번엔 다행인게 한개만 빼셨네요. 오늘은 양심이 있으셨네. 돈 조금 더 벌려고 양심까지 파지 마세요.
Nice place
Found this place to be very nice and had all the things we needed for traveling and requiring Korean food! Considering it is Alaska, I didnt find the prices too bad either! Will definitely stock up from here on our next trip to Alaska!
Alaska folks Please do not shop here. Do not support this business! The owners are greedy, shady people that needs to be addressed. They sale expired products, pay employees under the table cash, and Call “ice” on people leaving negative comments! A family friend was taken away last Sunday from church because of a dispute he had and wrote a negative review about the business. Now he’s currently in Tacoma getting deported. Our community is small and word gets around quick. The manager Joe has investment properties all over town and is a joke. He claims to be “ONLY” the manager but really is the owner with his Puppet girlfriend “Korean lady” Sonia. She runs a illegal casino behind their business after hours. Boycott this business immediately. Concerned Alaskan.
I dont usually post reviews but I was very disappointed by this store.Bought noodles here and they were expired. Brought them back a day later to return them and instead of being refunded, I was charged again for the noodles I returned.
Masks are required, but everyone wears them. I love shopping at Central Market.
If you dont speak the language that is on much of the packaging in this store, just ask. They are super helpful and friendly, just need to ask. Great people!
For anything one needs for any Asian cuisine, New Central Market is the place in Anchorage to find it. Hard-to-find spices are plentiful. Sweet treats abound. Their kimchee is second to none.
One of the best Asian markets here with a lot of selection of imports from Asia that you cant find in other Asian stores. The shop owner is friendly and funny, and I love the garden in front. The ingredients are cheap here and i can find candies i miss from other countries.
Great Asian market with a good selection of Korean and Japanese food. Also, they have a nice selection of dishes, utensils and kitchen counter appliances. An extensive freezer section as well as bottled, canned drinks rounds out the place. Isles can be a little narrow but overall a great little market.
This is a really nice store, variety and prices are good . I just wished the little in the front wasnt so irritated the minute she sees someone walk in with a kid . Everyone else is very kind and helpful .
This place has an absolutely stunning variety of foods from a plethora of Asian cultures, and if they dont have the item your looking for theyll usually point you in the right direction. Grade A customer service. Their Kimbap rolls and most everything else that comes out of their kitchen is high quality.Would recommend this place to anyone, 11 out of 10.
What a great find! This classic Asian market has never failed to be the (only) source for so many obscure ingredients needed to finish out those authentic recipes with the unpronounceable names. Somehow, they manage to never be out of anything. Nothing fancy here, but the narrow aisles and crowded shelves and coolers hold countless pleasant surprises and a genuine air of authenticity. The scent of fresh spices and grains make the case for walking every aisle and checking out with far more than I came for, destined for being woven into dishes spontaneously added to my meal planning. Ancient grains, dozens of rice varieties, every form of flour imaginable, and spice mixes from every culture.
Reminds me of the Asian groceries back in L.A., but more culturally diverse in selection. Turn-On: I heard at least five different languages being spoken in like five minutes there. Turn-Off: It was fairly busy while I was shopping there after work and even with two cashiers, I had to wait in a line. All in all, a neat place to check out. They have hands down the best kimchee.
Always fine new stuff. The have a few vegetarian items
Really good selection and the staff was friendly.
The best place to go for anything and everything Asian. Super helpful staff.
My fav asian store. they have more selections of sauces than anywhere else in anchorage. Im from Hawaii so I search for products im used to and they typically have them, where-as others dont.
There’s a good variety of stuff here however almost everything we picked up was expired or about to be. Also, the prices are a lot higher than other Asian markets nearby.
Great prices with everything you need Asian and lots of Indian products. Love the staff! 😊
Small store packed with almost everything you need for Oriental foods.
Best selection of Asian food in town. Amazing kimchee!
Nearly everything I bought was mismarkedafter I pay for my items I looked on my receipt and saw that it was quite more than it should have been when I pointed out to them the discrepancies the woman at the counter could have cared less
Excellent place for korean products. The staff was very friendly
Great selection! Awesome Kim chee!
I stumbled upon this place trying to find Chinese 5 Spice. They were nice enough to have three different varieties waiting for me at the front. Plus, their prices were substantially less than their competitors.
First went in on Saturday, September 08, to check it out while waiting for friends. I ended up doddling through the whole shop and talking to the owner, I happen to prefer more things of this pallate than the American sugar-filled stuffs. I cannot read, write, or even pretend to know any Asian languages, so I ask for help when some things are beyond my comprehension, and the people are nice. I was looking for a few specific things and I figured who best to know than the owner, and he was super kind to help me find what I was looking for. Did not feel bad for opening my wallet and buying goods here!If you arent scared of asking for help, then you will do fine here.
This place is very well-stocked and has unique items. If you are Thai and looking for unique ingredients this is the place to go
Great service and very helpful staff. Had all the tools I needed for sushi at a reasonable price!
This is a well stocked Korean market that carries kitchen items you use every day as well. The prices on their items are competitive.
Best Kimpop in Anchorage. Lots of other treats as well!
Great place to shop for your Asian cuisine. Friendly and helpful staff
Lots of products but 80% of staff is not helpful. Priced are higher than for comparable items in other stores. I think the store lives off its local prestige & there is no ongoing incentive to be better. Some stuff can only be found there (locally) but Id rather order elsewhere and wait for delivery.
She cheats, sell expired items and remove expiration date with mail remover. If you point out dates, she will reply back you are not going to die you dont understand that it taste better as it gets AGED most rotten person. She also says you are not welcome at my business because I refu6to buy expired items.
The best place to get Korean foods and ingredients locally
Great stuff and good prices! Been shopping there 20 plus years, always something new and delicious!!
Its perfect if you arent allergic to sea foods
Horrible company to do business with. I was a long term customer of theirs for over 2 years. Never had any problem with them and they didnt seem to have any problem with the thousands and thousands of dollars I gave them!!!! On november 2, 2014 I purchased some products for my restaurant, on November 3, 2014 I returned to the market because all the product I received was EXPIRED!!! I had receipt in hand and was still told I was a LIAR and I had no proof I purchased this product on that date with the receipt in my hand!!!! HAHAHA!!! This company obviously is a joke if they are willing to throw out my years of business of something so stupid. The funny thing is I was not even trying to get a refund or anything. I was just trying to make it known that there products were expired and this is what i got out of it!! This company has no loyalty, integrity or respect. They DO NOT deserve my business or YOURS!!!!
Nice
This is not the nicest or cleanest store in town, but if youre looking for hard to find Asian ingredients, theres a good chance you can find them here. $10 minimum credit charge.
Very well stocked, tiny isles though so be cautious
Prices are too high.Ive picked up too many items that were past their expiration date. Not wheelchair accessible.Customer service is subpar, and the lack of fluent English made it difficult to find the products that I needed.Overall I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.
Love this place it has delicious food/treats and the people who works there is so nice and are willing to help customers with suggestions
I went to this market to look for what I need to make Korean Kimchee...I got All that I needed, & More, Plenty of Yummy goodies, Great service and Helpful staff/Owner. I plan to go back on my next trip to town, in a few weeks, for more of the sweets, which are fresh, reasonably priced and Almost Guiltless. The store is clean and the produce was very fresh.I went to some of the Other smaller markets and this one is The Best!NOTE: A Year LAter….well For more than 3 months now I have been going to the Market and Buying Their Kim Chee. NOTHING ELSE WILL DO!! I Also Found Beautiful Produce during the Holidays…..Pear Apples From Korea…WHAT A TREAT! I cant Say Enough Good about this Place!
Phenomenal customer service!
If you are looking for Indian stuff in Anchorage, this is the place you should go. Its a Asian store with few racks containing Indian stuff. You dont get everything here but things like haldirams, spices, lentils, beans, almost all kind of flours and little bit of frozen stuff including parathas and paneer are available here.Only reason of rating 3 is - everything is twice as expensive compared to other locations in USA. The reason is obvious but still..Overall its a good option.
Large variety of asian foods and merchandise. I love it.
Love to come here, a hole in the wall Asian store.
They have the best selection of Asian groceries.
Good but not the best Asian market in anchorage
They have melona popsicles! Great Korean marketplace
Tons of Asian imported goods. Their kimbop and jap chae, as well as their prepared banchans are delicious & everything is so affordable!
Very nice counter.
Wonderful store, good variety of products, good prices, and staff was knowledgeable
Convenient for most people
They sell stuff that expire in 2018 even though now is 2020
You can get bunch of authentic Korean groceries. Also some of popular Korean side dishes.
Pretty cramped and not the best prices but then again you cant get that stuff everywhere.
Scammers! We paid with a $20 and got change for a $10. The checkout lady was multitasking and unsure what we gave her. The money layed on the counter until the cashier took it. The manager was called but did not come. We waited about 10 minutes. Then we went to find the manager who was in a back room. He was already reviewing the security video. The manager was unhelpful and rude. He tried to play the whole thing as a joke and as if we were trying to scam them. He said he cant do anything cause its too blury. There was only 1 security video and the image was blury. Its not our problem their cameras suck. We asked the manager if he would balance the till to see if it was over. He said he would if we came back at the end of the day. Then he walked away. We did get our money and purchaee in the end. But the whole experience was aggravating and took over 20 min. On the way out we noticed a second camera poiting at the till from a different angle. But we never saw the footage from this camera. So it was either broke or he saw this video and lied to us because were right! Check your receipts and watch what you give them! What an aweful experience!!
Beware of expired food, they do sell them intentionally for the profit.(All my friends who visited this store had same experiences such as expired food, cashier scanning same item twice, and unkind customer service.)Ive heard directly from the Lady (owner) that You wont die for eating expired food, why so picky? when I asked for refund. Only reason I go there once in awhile is because of some Korean food they carry.
Nice products from over seas
Hello do you keep indian ice creams ...vadilal?
Since i been in a anchorage few yearsI found out not many asian (korean) storeSo...i just shopping in here but. The owner lady is ##### its hard to tell but not trying understand the way customer way she just talk how she want and think of her way So. I decide that i will not going in there anymore.....customer services is S××× and. Not respect ....
You can find most international Asian foods. But very pricey $$$
The kimbap is amazing!
For a small market, they used every bit of space. There are lots of asian foods, ingredients, etc. to choose from!
Oriental food market, especially Korean goods.
Good service compared to Oriental market on fireweed
It was okay 👌
They have everything Im ever looking for. No matter what Cuisine Im making :Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Lao etc!
One of the best, cleanest Korean grocery stores.
The store is closed as it under repair after earthquake. Please check
