My car transmission completely blew out today, unexpected and without warning. I happened to be in a parking lot near Pep Boys. Ali, the service technician was friendly and efficient. He willingly fit my car in to run a diagnostic test. When i went to pay for the services, and arrange the tow truck to take it to the dealer (work covered under warranty there) he waived the charges! I was stunned. I had been dealing with the dealership service department throughout the day and they were not friendly at all. It was so refreshing to be dealing with such a kind and generous individual, Ali restored my faith in mankind. Kindness and generosity always win! Thank you Ali, and the Pep Boys team!

I have used this Pep Boys location for all of my car service needs, for the last 10 years.I have always had the best experience with service, from Giovanny and his fellow reps. They are always courteous, reliable and prompt. Their prices are competitive. This is a highly underrated business.

I love this place! I hope it stays the same under new ownership. I know that with many of the larger franchised or chain stores, much depends on the local owners or managers. This store is run well with a happy staff and it shows. You can buy anything you could think of for every vehicle still on the road. And most of the time, its in stock, which is amazing. And if it isnt, you can get it that afternoon. The longest I ever waited for a part was 2 days, and that actually came in a ½ day early.This Pep Boys is a great one and the prices have been very reasonable lately, which has not always been true at Pep Boys. I would highly recommend this business to my fellow Shade Tree Mechanics.

The place was a mess. Boxes and stuff everywhere. Looks like theyre going under.I usually go to 2 other Pep Boys locations but this one had an early appointment available. Most expensive oil change Ive ever had!! I pay less at the other locations and at the dealership.I wont be returning to this location.

The worst experience I have ever had. I walked in with my little, 13 year old brother looking for car detailer and had a couple questions about break calipers. We went to talk to them about our questions and wouldn’t even acknowledge me. They would only talk to my little brother and wouldn’t even look at me. Even when I was checking out, they asked him if he wanted a receipt when I was the one at the register. It seemed to be that it was because I am a girl. When leaving, my little brother even asked me why they were asking him questions the whole time instead of me and said he felt uncomfortable. Sad that he had to experience that at 13. I also have friends with similar stories from the same store. Will not be getting our business anymore.

Not what it used to be. Use rock auto or other sources. The parts are not any better then you get elsewhere and the prices are high. They do sell some good brands, however so do many others. They employ a few qualified technicians, and alot of lower ability. My last visit the salesperson was to lazy to get out of his chair. Maybe im just old school when you expect to be treated like a customer. To be honest they rank the same as many of their competitors, not very good. I wish I could lower my standards, however growing up in the auto industry busting my rear end for the customer still remains. Guess thats the reason I suggest getting a better price elsewhere. Good luck, its still better than waiting for the bus. Lol

Love this store for my car needs. They have a hugh assortment of car products and brands, plus they market their brand as well which Ive found to be comparable in quality as other brands but at a lower cost. Also, they have great customer service who are always willing to assist you with any car needs, especially since they have their car repair shop in the rear of the store.

Took my truck in for a tire repair and my rim is extremely damaged like they dropped it, I wasn’t concerned about the 3 hour wait but after seeing my rim like this I’m extremely angry would not recommend

Great service!! Need it some rims for my groovie Sebring. CHRIS was fantastic, so helpful an efficient. Went outside to look at my car to find out the right size and show me the ones available, even gave me suggestions of wich onrs would look best in my car. Then he called Landon who came and helped to put them on! He was great also. I had been to many Pep Boys in the Co.No doubt, This is the best Pepboys in OC!! Thank ypu guys ypu are the best!!

Pep Boys provided exceptional service, INITIALLY. However, when I returned with an issue, nothing could be done. Like with any automotive necessity, the company that can satisfy the need controls the power. All I could do was PAY for the remedy. The warranty and Pep Boys terms and conditions SHOULD have provided a solution at a minimal cost, if any, but the staff at Pep Boys DID NOT! I will NEVER spend another dime at Pep Boys. I recommend that you go elsewhere as well.

After 40 years of being a loyal customer they just lost, not just one customer but 14 people in my family and my wife’s family. Why? Because of price gouging. What happened? My wife’s top radiator hose blew a hole. We had it towed to Pep Boys at Aliso Viejo we left it there for repairs when I received the estimate to repair they wanted $288 to fix it, that was ridiculous pricing considering the radiator hose cost only $20, clamps cost $5 and one gallon of Antifreezecosts $15 total $40.00 and takes about 10 minutes to install. The service dept reply was, “The company had to make a profit”. I went elsewhere. I will never use Pep Boys again this is what you get with greed, dishonesty equals price gouging they just lost 14 people for life and another business can earn ours. BTW they lost thousands of dollars over a lifetime as well.

Yeah, really awesome guys. I was looking for a matching gas and water tank. I found them, but was under the impression the water tank was missing a piece. The two guys at the front jumped to go get stocked product in the back to compare. We found all of the water tanks come without the locking washer on the top on purpose and he assured me by going the extra mile. I also have my families vehicles serviced here and really appreciate Hunters attitude as it differs vastly from most auto service experiences.

The purpose of my visit was to great new tires. I did some research on tires and found that pep boys had a better deal then most of the competitors which got my attention. So I went ahead and ordered the tires. I was told that they would come in three business days and that they would call me as soon as shipment arrived. The day of the arrival, no call. I followed up with a phone call and sure enough they were already there and they neglected to notify me. I made an appointment for install. Note: this is my first time changing out these tires since I bought the car brand new. Got the tires changed which took three hours and drove the car home at 9pm.With enough light in the garage. I went to check on the rim and noticed 3 quarter inch chips around my center cap as if someone stuck a flat head screw driver and tried to pop off the center cap. Then I noticed scratches along the edge of the rim. Then I went to check on the other rim and sure enough, the same damage was made. These are rims that I kept in great condition and now theyre ruined. I went back the next day to report it and all I got back was that the damage was probably caused to me curbing the rim(which doesnt look nothing like curb damage) and that the chip couldnt have been caused by anything that they wouldve have done. But note, no one has ever taken off those center caps until that day. They offered nothing to help because they said the damage couldnt have been cause by them so they asked me what I wanted to do. Well I really dont want to deal with them anymore and I really dont want to waste anymore time. After a couple of minutes going back and forth about the possible causes. They offered me touch up paint for free in which I took just to get it over with. Now Im stuck with damaged rims covered in touch up paint. I made the mistake by going for a better deal on tires. I think if I spent a little bit more at a competitor store I sure I might have been happier.

I am so sorry to see that someone lets their employees treat people as I was treated yesterday. I walked in and watered wire brush to scrub the terminals on my battery. In the same sentence I asked for WD-40 a wire brush oh, and then I inquired about the longest life battery that they have for my auto. The gentleman acted as if I was pulling his teeth she asks another employee to help me. When an employee started speaking he told me yes they have a battery it does not last as long as I would like which was seven years and explain almost in tears that it was going to cost $200 as if I could not afford it that is a very inexpensive price for a long lasting battery are long lasting battery is good for 4 years or more thats a bargain. Do not visually assess a customer and think that they cannot afford something you not only lose that sale but now you get a review that puts you out on blast, that is when somebody marks or identifies you in a situation that they are not very happy with so do not do that with me. It was only going to be about a $250 sale but I guarantee you I will not be purchasing that car battery from them or any other products such as the motor oil that I bought which was a 5-quart canister of synthetic motor oil now that is an expensive product. Im so sorry to see that these people are in a place where they interact with the public make decisions on their own, and possess an attitude that ruins a sale for the person who owns that business its too bad they were the two gentlemen at the cash register around 11:30 to 12:30 on Monday the 2nd of March.

Their parts/hardware selection (or lack thereof) is embarrassing and inadequate. Never have what I need. I’ve tried this location for water pumps, universal fasteners, etc. etc. and other parts for SBCs and none of it is EVER in stock. Waste of time.Great store for camouflage mats and skull decals but not much else.

I purchased a tire 6 months ago and after 1 month it already had a leak and was losing air. I took it in and they charged me 20 dollars to fix the leak. That same tire starting leaking air out of the same exact spot. Now theyre telling me I need a new tire after having the same issue every time. They wanted to charge me for another tire and they didnt offer any discount or any other solution. Stay away from the place because they may rip you off too.

Oil change,tire rotation, etc, also to my delight, I discovered that you can order tires from Amazon, and they will ship to Pep Boys to be installed. beats only a few choices on the rack at the Boys, ha! Ive always had great service here, highly reccomend.

I reluctantly took my car for repairs and was pleasantly surprised by the speed and courtesy of staff. Not thrilled with the cost but was not exorbitant for the repair needed, just wish it didn’t need repair! Also took it back for my smog check and was in and out more quickly than indicated, always a good thing! Very happy with this location.

Totally adequate job with the oil change I came in for. The only reason Im giving 3 stars was that as part of the inspection, I was told that the rust on my car had compromised the frame and it was at risk of imminent catastrophic failure. This was two years ago and my car is still driving fine.

Working with cars isn’t an easy gig. Working with the public and their car problems is even tougher.On 2 separate occasions an employee at this location went above and beyond to help. Looked under the hood of my car and assisted with a hose and battery problem.I am beyond grateful for the kindness and effort from this car hero.I spent far less than I was expecting.The honesty and kindness is very appreciated.

Ordered a hitch for my SUV and paid for them to install. I scheduled my installation for a couples days after my purchase and when I went to my scheduled appointment I was told the guy who installs hitches isnt there on the day I scheduled.... Then come to find out I was told my part wlmight in not even be intheir inventory... I had to wait was30 minutes for an employee who didnt seem to know how to look up a part number to come back and tell me they didnt even have my part that was scheduled to be put in. I not told this upon purchasing online and was given the option of scheduling for service the same day of purchase. Needless to say I cancelled my order and went elsewhere. Worst costumer service and a waste of my time and Sunday morning

Called and spoke to Dana gave her the information for a simple headlight bulb. She quoted the price the mechanic quadrupled it saying more was involved. We had utubed it and it was simple as Dana quoted. Tony the mechanic needs to go back to school.We will no longer be using pep boys for our fleet vehicles at our office either.I only gave one star because I had to.

Went for oil change. Only bother if you have a coupon. Made an appointment..still waited close to an hour..and they didnt reset the service reminder. Sales people do their best...management sux..as always at Pep Boys.EDITED 12-27Downgraded to 1 star after I got the Were sorry.. auto responder. I stupidly followed up only to get another auto responder We can file a case on your behalf to be reviewed by Senior Management Hah. Typical auto parts store. Reasonably priced. If they dont have what you are looking for they will order it for you. On site mechanics to install new tires, oil changes, and basic automotive repair. You can find just about everything you need for your car or truck.

I had a small leak in one tire and I was near this Pep Boys so I asked them if they could repair it. They said no problem it will cost $20.00 .2 hours later they call me and say they cant repair it because the tire is so worn they cant do the repair. They said I need new tires and new struts because that what made the tires go bad. Little did they know that I had the struts changed 3 months ago and the tires about 6 months ago.I told them to put the tire back on and I would take care of it somewhere else.I went down the street to Pacific Auto and asked them to take a look at the tire. In 10 minutes he pulled the nail out of the tire repaired it and put it back on. I asked him to tell me if there is anything wrong with the tire or struts. He said everything looks great. It cost me $10 for the repair and the quick look.I dont write reviews very often but when I find someone trying to scam me I get upset enough to take the time. I would not recommend this Pep Boys for any repair or tire replacement.

Had a dead battery so I contacted Geico ERS and they gave me a jumpstart. Wanted to get things done as quick as possible so I called the nearest auto center which was Walmart. They said they couldnt replace the battery for my particular vehicle (Honda HRV) so I called Pepboys next.The person on the phone said it would maybe be an hour but I actually got my car in and out of the shop in maybe 15 minutes max!! I was really amazed and surprised given some of the poor reviews here, but Im glad I took my car to them and would do it again in the future.

Called and received a quote to have rotors and brake pads installed, arrived and they tacked on another $60 dollars, I told the gentleman I had received a quote for $160 not $220 which seemed excessive, basically these guys are getting over $100 an hour. He didnt care, my wife and child were waiting to give me a ride home so departed and left this review, because theyre liars.

If you need service for your vehicle, Pep Boys is a great place to go. Service can be a little slow at times but everyone tries their best and they generally do a good job.Maaz in service is by far the best mechanic/advisor Ive worked with. He is patient, knowledgeable, and will explain anything you need to know. His advice is helpful and has always made sense.

Went there to get new low beam headlights installed. Already had bought the bulbs. Just asked them to swap out the bulbs. The guy complained I already had them purchased and in hand and then quoted me $66 dollars to install the new ones. Bogus! Went down to Autozone and got them installed for free in under 5 minutes. Not a complicated process and low labor. With $66 dollars for 5 minutes of labor, that puts them at over $700/hr in labor costs. Seem right to you? Not only was the man behind the counter unpleasant but that must be the richest mechanic Ive ever met. Last time I go there for anything.

Well the 3 week ago visit was great, 5 stars. I was able to find a light bulb and get in and out super quick..now down to a 2 star because of the second visit, 2 weeks ago. Set up an appoitment at 1230 to get 2 tires installed that I already bought, just for them to say it could be 4 or 5 pm for my car to be finished...Really? I was told your appointment is so when the next avaiable bay becomes open. Really poor excuse, What happens if the bay doesnt come available till the next day at 5? At this point the apoointment is useless, so I went to another shop at 1pm same day and my car was done at 2pm. Takes that one time for you to lose a customer and you lost a customer at this location to get any future car work done here!

Guy told us over the phone that it would cost $50 to do an AC Recharge and evaluation to make sure things were working smoothly. Get there wait an hour, Im told that to recharge the AC it will cost $271.00!!!? Drove out of my way to these guys. Told him no thanks well get a second opinion. Asked for my keys and he still has to charge us for the $50.00 for evaluating the car!!! He did nothing!! Paid the guys $50.00 for me to drive out of my way to Aliso Viejo and for the guys to twiddle their thumbs for an hour of my time to upcharge the hell out of the price he gave me over the phone. If you come here, make sure you ask a bunch of questions before you you give them your keys.

I went into Pep boys to fix a dead headlight, I was immediately greeted by a wonderful fellow named Jose (I dont know his last name). He was extremely kind and helped me purchase the best headlight for my car and help me get setup to have it installed. I am driving to through Vegas tomorrow with my little kids and and he made sure my car was fixed and ready for the trip. If you go to this Pepboys, ask to be helped by Jose and he will take care of you. Thank for making this a good experience.

It be nice if they would answer the phone. I’m looking for someone to help me in the store, so I decided to call the store to see if someone could help me... It rang off the hook and eventually put on hold... 8 mins went by, finally found someone.. while my phone was on speaker.. 12 mins went by before I said.. I’m on hold waiting for someone to answer the call. They walk over to the phone and pick it up only to hear their voice echo.. I put down my basket of merchandise on the counter and walked out, right by 2 employee out front smoking.. Never will I come back!!

In shops like this all I am looking for is a person that I can trust with mechanical things. A lot of shops try to quote you for very unnecessary stuff and for a very high price. I have not worked with anybody here beside Aras and he is been absolutely amazing. I can fully trust him about my car. Gives the best suggestions. He doesn’t use heavy mechanical terms and clearly explains the job that needs to be done on Your car. Always finds a way to communicate with you and make sure you get a great deal. I hope the rest of the people that work here are as honest. If you ended up going here just ask for “Aras”.

It always takes a very long time to get someone to help you in service . Simple oil change you often have to leave a car for the entire day, I go mostly on weekends. Staff is helpful, and their website has coupon for discounted oil change . so it is a good deal. However they never give you that sticker to show when is your next oil change due which can be confusing.

I bought break pads for my Nissan Altima a year ago and at that time was told this pads has lifetime warranty and you can return it if it doesnt work. I asked do I need to keep the recipet and box for return and they said as long as your phone number is in our system, you dont need your receipt.( same as auto zone).Recently I had a oil change and they told me your break pads are almost gone!I went back to this store and the store manager ( thats what the guy called himself) you need to take the pads out and bring them back for replacement!2 days later after I put the new pads ( this time I bought them for Autozone) I took the pads to store and this time they said we cant accept it without receipt .I said thats not what I was told!The manager told me take your part and leave the store.I called customer service center and filed a complaint about issue.They didnt want to even check my information by using my phone number and said its not possible to get access to your record with your phone number!!!!!The guy was really rude and no respect for customer at all.I dont want to get back to this place and I recommend you never buy anything from them.I filled a complain and wait to see what will happen.Mike

Had my radiator replaced 2 years ago and there is already rust buildup on 1/3 of the lower part of the radiator. The receipt states limited life time warranty and when I called, the manger told me that there is a 90 day warranty on that part. 90 days on a radiator is useless so why give a warranty at all.I would be EXTREMELY cautious letting Pep Boys do any work on my car and would much rather go to a shop that stands behind their work.If you want quality work done on your car, find a reputable mechanic and save yourself some headaches. Stay away from these clowns.

Took my car to Pep Boys in Aliso Viejo because it was squeaking. I was told it needed a new engine mount and the estimate was $1,100. I thought that was excessive. I took it to my friends mechanic who agreed that I needed an engine mount, but is only going to charge me $289 dollars. If you get a high estimate from this vendor, my recommendation is to get a second opinion.

I will write an honest review of our experience at Pep Boys. Heres the readers digest version: our 2010 Subaru Outback was overheating, and we took it to Pep Boys in the hopes that they could help us. We were overcharged by them to change the radiator on our car, and due to their incompetence and unprofessionalism, we were delayed and missed my wifes family reunion, which will not happen again for several years. We lost time, money, and quality family time as a direct result of our interactions with Pep Boys, and we couldnt be more disappointed in our experience with them.Heres the longer version:We were driving from Utah to California for a vacation. Our Subaru started overheating in Lake Forest, and we took it to Pep Boys located at 26881 Aliso Creek Rd, Aliso Viejo, CA 92656. They charged us $1,000 to change the radiator/thermostat (Ive since looked into pricing to change radiators, and they way overcharged us; average cost we found was $670; I should have known it was too much when they started offering us discounts right upfront without me even asking for them).A few days later, the car starts overheating again. We took it to the Pep Boys located at 4441 Genesee Ave, San Diego, CA 92117, because we were not in the Irvine area anymore. They set up an appointment for a Thursday morning, only to have me show up and be told that they didnt have a technician who could take care of it that day. Now, it was the 4th of July; Im a reasonable person, and I understand that not many people are working on such a holiday. But I expect a basic level of professionalism when Im being provided a service; they should have checked their schedule to ensure that a technician would actually be able to look at my car, rather than setting up an appointment and then turning me away. They very easily could have said Im so sorry, but we dont have any openings tomorrow; lets have you come in on Friday. Then I wouldnt have lost an hour of my day.So they had me come in first thing on Friday morning instead. But when I got there, I was informed that the mechanic who could actually look at my car wasnt going to show up for another 2 hours. Again, they should have looked at their schedule and set up the appointment for a time when the mechanic could actually see our car. When their mechanic showed up, they diagnosed the car for 3 hours, and finally called and said that the head gasket was blown, which was going to cost $2,400 and take 5 days to do. We were obviously freaking out, because we live in Utah and I needed to get back to work on Monday.We decided to talk to another mechanic that specializes in Subarus and have him take a look at our car. He determined within 5 minutes of looking at the car that it was not, in fact, a blown head gasket. Rather, the mechanic who took care of our car at Pep Boys failed to properly bleed the air out of the system. Beyond that, they put the green coolant in our car, when they should have put the blue coolant in. Ive since learned that any mechanic worth their salt knows to burp the system after changing the radiator, and they know the optimal type of coolant to put in. Beyond that, the mechanic at the Pep Boys location in San Diego misdiagnosed our car; there was no head gasket issue, and our car is fine. I dont know if the mechanics at Pep Boys were making honest mistakes, or if they were incompetent or just dishonest. I hope it was just honest mistakes.By the time we found out that our car was fine, it was already too late to drive back to Utah for my wifes family reunion. We were treated unprofessionally at both Pep Boys locations, and we lost time, money, and quality family time (a reunion that will not happen again for several years) as a result of it (not to mention the psychological cost from that half-day or so when we thought our car had a blown head gasket and we were trying to figure out what to do). And we very nearly lost thousands of dollars on an unnecessary fix for our car. I hope that Pep Boys will make this right for me and my family.

This Pep Boys is the worst. Horrendous customer service, they could care less how long you wait in line. They barely have anyone out on the floor, they always seem like they are dodging you on purpose. If youre female they talk to you like youre an idiot and dont know anything. Ive gone there enough times now to know this is how they run their store. I will NEVER go there again. I honestly dont know why Ive gone as much as I have, should have stopped a long time ago.

This is a busy place, appointments are highly recommended. It can get pricey too. Good thing is, one can walk to shops and restaurants around the area while waiting for your vehicle.

I must admit my experience at Pep Boys was quite unpleasant to say the least thats only if were talking about the one here in Lake Forest now on the other hand Im going to have to go with five stars on the one down in Aliso Viejo Robert is the man excellent customer service ...straight-to-the-point helping hand good customer service thats the one down in Aliso Viejo the one up here on Lake Forest like I said .... very unpleasant watch out for Alejandro thank you goodbye...

DO NOT GO HERE WITH A GROUPON! They do not honor any prices they have online or any coupons form their own website, its comical. I called to set up an oil change as their website lists a $49.99 full synthetic oil change with a $20 off coupon, the woman over the phone confirmed that the least I would be paying out the door with takes was going to be over $103 if I used the cheaper option (pennzoil vs Mobil1), I informed her about the coupon on their website and she responded with well its your word v.s mine and Ive never heard of that coupon or groupon. Even after I told her that its literally on their website she denied any acknowledgement of it, and she also said well your car requires 8liters of oil and the coupon would only cover 5 qts so youd have to pay the difference and thats how we come up with the $103 So, then she does know about the coupon? She knew it only covered 5 qts and that I would have the ocver the remainder so why deny knowing anything to begin with? Also, IDK where you got your information from home girl but my car tops off at 6.4 quarts... this place was WACK without even needing to go. They dont care for your business here

The service department was rude and unprofessional after I brought to their attention that my coolant levels were not actually checked which could of ultimately caused engine failure to my BMW. Will NEVER go back.
