Selection is just ok, pricey. I didn’t find much groceries from Russia, a lot from other countries, but there is absolutely Russian atmosphere - very not friendly service.

Dishonest business practice. We gave this neat little store an honest try. We came a few times but things didn’t add up. Then I figured out why. Items like cakes are old and items get marked up even at checkout. Pay attention, what it says the price is on the shelf matches the receipt. Here is evidence. We purchased smoked salmon. The price was $11 for the pack, no problem. However at check out they changed the price to over $15. How many other items are priced up at checkout? We won’t be returning. Since there’s an abundance of Russian Gourmet stores in the city I would recommend going elsewhere. Honesty is priceless.

Im not Russian or eastern European, but it looks like they have a nice selection of goodies. Price for taramasalata is much higher than at the Atilla grocery store. But if you want wonderful breads, cheeses, cold cuts, pickles, & preserves dishes, come here! The cakes looked to die for!! Parking was easy across the street.

Great little local store, some people are saying the staff only speaks Russian.... well youre at a Russian grocery store so... what did you expect? Theyre very friendly and helpful! Great selection for those looking for some classic Russian staples. They also have fantastic Polish cookies!

This has been my secret gem for many many years. The original location is in McLean and a few years back they opened another one in Del Ray (Alexandria). They sell the best black bread. Its hearty and healthy with no additives. They also sell buckwheat which is of the healthiest form of grain one could eat.For those who want a great quick dinner when they get home, go for the frozen chicken and veal pelmeni. Just boil them for 3 minutes and you have yourself a quick lunch or dinner.Russian gourmet also offers a fantastic selection of natural remedies that include extracts that treat stress. Believe me when I tell you they work.

Okay, I understand this place receiving good reviews if youre not familiar with Slavic markets, because I would not give this place ANY stars simply for the costumer service. I lived in Kiev Ukraine for years, my wife is a beautiful Russian woman, I understand the difference in costumer service there compared to here in the US. There is simply no expectation of smiles and friendliness in Slavic countries, which is not a bad thing nor good. However, once one decides to open a business here in the US one should adapt to the traditions here. My wife and I live in Old Town and walk to this shop a few times a month. There has not been one time that we have not been treated like a nuisance at this shop. Part of me feels it is because my wife is Russian therefore the attendants feel there is no need to give good service for a fellow Slav. I dont know, I do know I stay away from this place but my wife misses items from home and this helps her, so unfortunately I will continue to give them my money only because I have no other option.

Customer service definitely needs improvement. Food selection is okay, but no variety like in other locations. Some meat produce is not fresh. Besides, great small local store.

It is pricey, but it makes sense since almost all is imported from Russia or other Eastern European countries. Good selection of loose leaf teas. Staff could be helpful and friendly on some days, sullen on others, you never know. However, I was dismayed to see expired food on the shelves. The managers should check what they sell more thoroughly.

If you grew up in Russia (like I did) or have lived significantly in Russia, this place is a goldmine. If you have no Russia connections, theres no point going. However, if youre craving Russian food, this place has it all. Its a small store by Buzz Bakery in Alexandria, VA. It has everything from Russian juice (Mors), carrot salad (amazing!), pelmini, Russian sour cream, Russian sweetened condensed milk, etc. They even have a Russian library and a Russian candy section. If you are Russian, you MUST go here! The only downside is its a bit pricey, but it makes sense since its all imported from Russia.

Overpriced and worst customer service... Some items on shelves are outdated and exceed usage expiry dates... Had to throw away several items purchased there, for examples the chicken kolbasa, which smelled like dead animal when we opened it.

I visited with my husband this month to pick up some speciality and nostalgia products. I was speaking English with my husband the entire time. As I come up to the cashier, one of the women comments to the other in a low voice about my weight and appearance, thinking I could not understand. I was in such shock that I couldnt even speak up for myself. The experience was absolutely horrendous. If you want a gossipy, shallow woman criticizing customers as she packs your food, this is the place to go.

Oasis! Silent calm sellers, try very hard to do American service, but sometimes you can still catch a dissatisfied note)) and it pleases. An excellent selection of products (tea, herring, proper butter, cottage cheese, dumplings, halva, favorite sweets, bread, buckwheat of very good quality). I don’t visit often, but I don’t miss a chance to go, at least for Roshen’s candy or a Bulgarian casinak!

Compared to other Russian stores in Washington, this one is much more expensive, the selection is small, and there are no discounts at all (There are at least discounts on weekends in the Russian store in McLean). This place is beneficial only to those who live almost within walking distance. I see no reason to go there to those who live far away.
