I had to come update my review! Im now a real regular and they just launched a new menu of delicious breakfast items that you really cant get in this area anywhere else. Also, a whole new lunch menu with delicious salads and five delicious new sandwiches.Plus this months fall donuts are just to die for. They always have one special donut every month thats a fundraiser and this month its helping animals, and its a lemon glaze so go get that!But if youre in the area dont miss this place for breakfast or lunch! The coffee drinks are still a little weak, but if youre just looking for coffee or tea to go with your donut youre all good.Definitely becoming a cornerstone of the local food community!

The coconut caramel donuts here are THE BEST donuts Ive ever had, bar none. A massive plus is that all of the food here is vegan, which is a godsend for me being severely lactose intolerant. Place is always clean, staff is super friendly and its a neatly designed little cafe. Highly recommend

I loved this place, new brand, good space, fast and energetic customer service, the coffee is DELICIOUS, honey and Mocca are the best for me.They have so many products in the store, mugs, coolers, coffee beans, cold beverages, etc etcA wide variety of vegan and gluten free food, also high chairs, tables for four outside, is really comfortable this space, I really like it and would come back again.

ECs a nice little coffee shop in Old Town Alexandria.Cute decor, chill Cafe Vibe and lots of options for delicious pastries and Coffee drinks!Visited in Early November and enjoyed the experience. Server wore masks and all the seating was spaced out so you had room to social Distance.

Best vegan donuts in the DMV by far. Better than donut run which is super overhyped. The texture is perfect—fluffy and not dense or greasy. And they deliver. Order came quickly and they gave extra donut holes. 10/10.

I am thrilled to have Elizabeth’s Counter as a vegan option in Alexandria. While moving apartments last week I joked that my diet was fueled by EC as I ordered from them a minimum of three times. Food is A+ comfort foods and the no-contact pick up is a breeze. (They have some gluten-free options as well) From donuts to sandwiches this place is incredible!

The Phoenix sandwich was ok and I believe it is a vegan option. The breading wasa little soft likely due to being in a box for the 10minute drive home. The slaw on the sandwich seemed like it was yellowed lettuce slathered in veganaise, which was the part that turned me off to it. The fries were tasty and the aoli was really good. Overall Id try it again but will likely eat it shortly after its made to see if its better.Had one donut so far and look forward to the other 5 over the next couple days.Definitely check this place out if you are looking for vegan or vegetarian options or if you just want something a little different.

Not a bad donut shop, though I still miss Sugar Shack. The donuts are all vegan now. Not that its objectively a bad thing, but the cake donuts seem lacking now. Like most local donut shops, you should consume quickly and not save one for later. Unlike most donuts that are good for a day, these really only have a few hours before they dry out and toughen up. I swear that they sometimes dont bake all of them fresh daily as Ive gotten there minutes after theyve opened and tasted a stale donut. Might as well go to Dunkin Donuts if I want stale.Yeast donuts arent really my thing, but they excel at them. When fresh they are pillowy soft, and you really dont miss the milk or egg from the the cream fillings, even the pastry cream in the eclair.When theyre good, theyre really good, and if you need a vegan option this should be your first stop. But when theyre off, its a disappointment. Too much of a rollercoaster if you can just go to Duck Donuts and guarantee a home run.

Their donuts are the best. I am not a fan of super sweet donuts. Their donuts are perfect. I tried their Boston donut and the creme was so good. The lady on the counter was also amazing.

So happy I found this place! Their mostly vegan menu is so delicious! The pastries don’t taste vegan and taste the same as regular pastries. I want to come back and try everything. I have already been twice in a week just for donuts. They also have gluten free donuts that are incredible.

This was my first experience with Elizabeths Counter, but I am very familiar with Sugar Shack Donuts. :-)I wanted to surprise my husband with a sweet tooth type of breakfast the morning after we arrived home from driving up the eastern seaboard the day before. I chose well. I used Uber Eats to complete my order, which was super easy and quick. Delivery was fast and the driver left the package politely on my doorstep. The doughnuts were amazing. We also tried one of the breakfast sandwiches (egg and sausage on a glazed doughnut....oh my gosh, amazing!). I would definitely order from or visit Elizabeths Counter again. Thank you!

Local gourmet donut shop in Old Town. I make sure to take anyone visiting from out of town here. Their blueberry donut is my absolute favorite, but its not always in stock. They have pretty amazing coffee as well.They have long hours, so its always a nice and slower early in the morning or late at night. The weekends are pretty packed with families and tourists, but for what you get, its worth the wait.Theres a speakeasy inside as well, which makes the place even greater knowing it has a hidden gem that few are aware of.

I came across this hole in the wall coffee shop this morning while waiting for my truck that was being washed. At first, I was hesitant because the donuts were vegan; but let me tell you - this little coffee shop has great coffee and pastries. Danielle was awesome! She was super friendly and takes pride in making her coffee. I would highly recommend checking this place out before frequenting the other competitors. I found me a new coffee shop!

I went in there last week at the request of a neighbor to try Elizabeths Counter. I bought 2 donuts and a coffee. They were good, so I went back today and bought 2 more donuts. They were very tasty, fresh and great with coffee. The customer service was also excellent. I cant wait to try other items on the menu.

Delicious vegan donuts! Easy online ordering and pick up through their site. There are gluten free options as well for those who have dietary restrictions. We enjoyed the latte with plant based milk (oat), definitely appreciated that option! Theres even doggie treats for our fur baby! Would definitely recommend this place if you are in the area!

It is a cute local place. The coffee is okay but the donuts are good.By the way, I gave 2stars because the employee was so rude and had an attitude. And she seems like she doesnt want to work there. Because of her, I wanted to leave as soon as possible.

I ordered three donuts, one cinnamon roll, and the apple fritter (all vegan) and I could not even tell the difference between these baked goods and non vegan baked goods. I strongly recommend trying this place out even if you aren’t vegan!!

My favorite local donut and coffee shop. The creativity put into some of these donut ideas is mind-blowing. They have a seemingly infinite number of flavors and combinations. The staff is always very friendly and welcoming, and offers suggestions on their favorites. They offer locally roasted coffee and make some fabulous lattes and other specialty drinks. If you live in the area or are just visiting, I would highly recommend coming here. The prices are extremely reasonable for what you get and definitely work your time.

Selection varies heavily depending on time of day and what is out of the oven, expensive, but tasty, with a nice sitting area, snug, mostly friendly staff.

I heard about Sugar Shack because someone recommended it to me and because it is two blocks away from my house; already I had high expectations. Walking in at 6pm, they had a good variety of donuts still left. I ordered half a dozen (the Samoa, Cinnamon, powdered, glazed, the bacon donut and a pink icing one) despite these donuts being very overpriced.When I actually ate these donuts, they had to be the worst donuts I ever ate. I have literally had better donuts from 7-11. These donuts were so bad, I cant believe this place gets so many good reviews.The texture was very, very dry and not soft and moist like most donuts. Also, the consistency of the donuts was more like cake instead of donuts. Then, the toppings all tasted very bland and not well flavored. These donuts were a waste of money and calories.I personally cannot recommend this place. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but you only get one first impression.

Eh... its OK. I got 6 donuts in total, 2 each of old fashioned, blueberry cobbler, and 2 cinnamon. The blueberry cobbler didnt really taste like blueberry and it was greasy. The old fashioned was just OK. The cinnamon tasted better than the other three. This place took over Sugar Shack. Theres no comparison unfortunately. And more than likely, I wont be back for donuts.

Amazing. I cannot describe how amazing my experience there was today. First time and I asked for some recommendations. I had a Honey Lavender Latte and a Cinnamon Sugar Donut. I will be going back frequently! The coffee was delicious, though a bit sweet, and the donut was so big I could hardly finish it but had too be because how good it tasted. It was the perfect medium between light/airy and heavy/warm.

Staff are very friendly and welcoming, which contributes to a positive, neighborly vibe. Coffee is nice, but the one donut I tried (apple fritter), I was not impressed with, especially for the price of $3.25. It was very small and did not have a lot of apple chunks or a significant glaze on it. I prefer fritters to be more substantial- lumpy with a good icing coat, less airy and more dense with fruit.

The donuts are pretty good and they have some fun flavors! There is also a secret bar connected to it thats not so secret. You have to make reservations at it because its really small. The bar serves donuts from sugar shack and really fun drinks but everything is PRICY and the service is TERRIBLE. The hostess got mad at my group because she said our reservation was for the next day when in fact we had e-mail confirmation that the reservation was for that day. We thought this might have just been a fluke but the same exact thing happened to a group coming in as we were leaving. The hostess was magically able to find seating for our group and their group but she made a big deal about it in a rude way.

Doughnuts are delicious but staff are rude so it ruins the whole experience. I felt like I was being a bother trying to order while they were chatting and laughing. Also, they clearly don’t know how (or care) to place a doughnut in a bag so the frosting actually stays on. I was really excited to come here but never again!

I placed a delivery order from here and was thrilled! Big servings of food that exceeded my expectations. I always feel like vegan fast food type food sounds so good but misses the mark. This stuff was delicious and exactly what I wanted. I loved the onions on the Bo-deVine and the sweetness of the Down Home. Sizes were generous.

Love the vegan donuts and everything else too. Oh, and you can currently order carry out cocktails from the attached speakeasy. Feel like we won the jackpot when this place opened!

Omg this place is my favorite. Definitely try the maple bacon donut. Not only do they have awesome donuts, but the customer service is above and beyond. I love to stop by for a donut and telework for an hour or so.

I have tried this place multiple times (when they actually had what I wanted in stock) and it is a constant let down. Everyone who works here is always rude and I have gone out of my way to be nice and also ALWAYS tip whoever is working. Paid almost $20 (including $3 tip) for 2 donuts and 2 very poorly thrown together iced chai lattes. I was the only customer in the shop and there were 2 people just standing behind the counter so they cant use the excuse that they were busy. The bottom was just dry powder and it made it taste absolutely terrible and undrinkable. After several attempts I definitely wont be wasting my money here anymore. I think with a better staff this place could be fine, but until then it is a complete waste of time and money and Im tired of giving them chances.

It’s nice to have more vegan options! I’m excited about the vegan flavors. However, I miss the vegan donuts of the Sugar Shack. The vegan donuts at Elizabeth’s Counter are too doughy. I hope you will soon also offer the Sugar Shack vegan donuts.The vegan chicken is very good. I had the southern style one. The batter is just as described. It’s frightening how meat-like the texture is!It is pricey but vegan chicken is more filling too so it’s like twice the meat for the price.
