I moved here in 2020 and Huntington car care was recommended to to me. I have been going to them for all my needs since. They go above and beyond, especially Mario and they make sure that you dont get work done that isnt necessarily needed. I went in once thinking I need brakes and he told me there was still life left on them and then he wouldnt recommend changing them out right now. I dont know any place that would do that because most places are all about money.. Huntington car care is a true asset to Alexandria and Im appreciative for them being honest people with great work ethic. Recently had a car wreck repair done there and they did an excellent job. Today I went in Because my tire valve caps were stuck. He did everything he could to get them off and gave a suggestion to me to try to get them off overnight by soaking them. Most places would be quick to try and charge you for a whole new valve steam instead of trying to give you pointers on have to help and save money at the same time . Ihighly recommend Huntington car care for all your car needs!!!

Drive somewhere else for repair if your car is able to drive. This place have a minimum charge for 65$ per visit no matter they did or didn’t do any repairs on your car. I had issue with the transmission and they asked me to change a hose and added up to a 580$ total to get everything done. I didn’t choose to get my car repair there instead I drive back to my dealer and he fixed the problem just add a 2$ compartment to tighten the hose. I think they just want to get things changed at their place even though it’s not broken or anything. Won’t go back.Had the alignment and rotation at this place a bit earlier this month cuz it’s close to my house. Cost 155$ in total. Not a fair price especially 35$ for rotation two tires.

Gary was very thorough in explaining the options I had to repair some minor scratches. Went above and beyond in helping me keep costs down. As a single mom that’s important to me. I trust this place and will look to them if I need repairs in the future.

This is not a good place to go at all! I had a problem with the sunroof of my car and took it to them because they had fixed my car when I was T-Boned once. They got my car on a Thursday to do a diagnostic, I was told there was no storage fee and that it would cost $100. That day I was told there was a part missing they needed to fix and it would be $866.74 and that they would call me to get my car. After a week of not hearing anything that next Thursday they called me and told me they had ordered a wrong part and that they needed to replace the whole top of my car and it would cost me 2,671.60. I was told that the part wasnt currently being manufactured so I would have to wait until end of April/ May before the part could be received but to order the part I needed to give them a 500 dollar deposit. The man said that I could pick up my car that day so I could have it until they got the part and that they would call me when it was ready. I never heard anything. That following Saturday around 8AM after they had my car for over a week I called and asked for an update. The man spoke away from the phone and then told me he would need to talk to the mechanic and would call me back. I never heard back from them so around 2 oclock I check to see their hours and they closed at 12! I called again and a man answered and I told him I needed my car now. He tried to tell me I had to wait until Monday because the mechanic wasnt in although he said he was talking to him. When I got there they had unplugged my battery and told me that he hadnt finished re-programming my car. When I said I wanted to take my car he tried to up-charge me for storage and time worked on the car. My car was there for over a week and had no work done to it. He then tried to tell me that I had to pay for the part and they would need to cancel it coming even though they told me that they couldnt order it until I paid them 500. Something told me this wasnt right so I took my car to the dealership where I was told the only issue was leaves in the track and they fixed in for $350. This place is a complete scam and I would not go.

My car was rear-ended in November 2020. I came to this shop for an estimate- its an old car, so I asked them to do the minimum amount of repairs needed to get my car back on the road and inspected. They gave me 3 estimates ranging from $3.5-$7k for a car that was worth maybe $2k. I ended up getting my car fixed elsewhere in one day at another shop for $500, with an inspection sticker included. I saved at least $3000 by not trusting these guys.

We have taken several of our cars here for years. The people are friendly. The work is good. The prices are fair.

I highly recommend Huntington Car Care and will be going here for all my future car needs. Don gave us excellent customer service. Not only are they quick and efficient with their work, theyre genuinely honest people. I went and told him I needed my front and rear brakes done. He called me about 30 mins after drop off to let me know only the front needed replacing and my rear had 40% left. I actually completely forgot I had changed them when I was in automotive school before moving here. This honesty goes a long way with me and now will trust them with all my vehicles needs. Ive been using these guys for over 10 years and theyve been honest and do quality work. They actually will make suggestions on how to save me money and will tell me honest opinions on if a repair is urgent or necessary or it can wait. They are also good at giving me options and explaining them. Don is the main guy there and hes great but Mario is also excellent. Highly recommend these people.

The owner refused to answer questions about my partners deposit and parts ordered. He gave my partner the run around so I politely asked some questions. He felt it necessary to get agitated and accused me of being a third party agent.When I turned my phone on to record his awful behavior he assaulted me, grabbed my phone and pushed me. Im waiting on the police currently to file a report and get answers.Not a place Id recommend and this man was quick to threaten to call the police on my partner who is black.

They are very honest with prices and the environment is not intimidating for women. Ive going to Huntington Car care for over 10 years now, and i would recommend this place to anyone with confidence.

These guys are the best. Took my Corolla in to have it looked at. They looked at it, drove it around to check it out, and when it turned out to not be a big problem, they took care of it and didn’t charge me a dime. I’ll definitely be back when I have other stuff that needs to be done.

Excellent. My Interstate battery finally went down in the cold of Saturday. It was 5 years, 3 months old. Time to replace and Huntington Car Care is .5 mile from home. The reception area is very clean. The service was prompt without an appointment!

I went to this shop to fix a check engine light they called me a few hours later and said they could not find the evap leak and that i should go to a dealer. They refused to charge me any money after spending over 2 hours on a smoke test which is $130 usually. These guys are honest, courteous and professional.

Wish I found this place sooner....came in to have wheel alignment done and Don and his team didnt just do a job, they took care of it. Ive been having issues with my suspension and didnt mention anything when I dropped off the car. When I came to pick it up, Don told me my rear shocks needed to be replaced as it was leaking. And now it rides like a gem. Thanks Don! I will be a repeat customer.

Ive taken my car and truck here for minor repairs and their service is top notch! Update: This place continues to offer great service. They recently replaced the alternator in my car, found what was making a strange noise, and pointed out that I needed to replace my rear shock bumper stops.

Corrected shoddy workmanship from a previous mechanic shop that made the damage from the minor crash worse than it should have been. Ive been going to Huntington Car Care since we moved to the area 20 years ago and Don and his team have been providing quality service every time I go there. I took my Acura to the dealership to look at an electical issue causing my low battery warning light to come on if the car sat for more than a couple days. Acura identified an issue with the hands free unit and disconnected it for $157. In addition, they did a full checkup and sold me a bill of needed repairs which included 2 control arm replacements, an oil pump seal replacement and timing belt replacement. All told that would have been $5500 in repairs.I took the car here and Don and his team looked over the car and told me there was nothing wrong with the bushings in the control arms and that while there was a slow oil leak from the pump, it wasnt bad but would get worse with wear. In addition, he also agreed that the normal time to repair that seal would be when the timing belt was replaced. Acuras cost to replace the oil seal and the timing belt was $2500. HCCs cost was $1500. Im having them complete that work.When I deal with Don, I dont feel like hes trying to oversell service items. I feel like hes honest, up front with his review and fair with his prices.

I had to call about my daughter’s Mazda due to a towing mix up over the weekend. The person who answered the phone was very polite. He told me they had it and would call in one to two hours with an estimate. She has used this shop before and they are very honest, knowledgeable and fair with their prices.

Called about our 12 year old Saturn Vue Hybrid with 2 engine lights warning of sensor failures here & there. I spoke to Don & he had me drop it off the same day. (The office requires everyone to wear masks to lower the spread of COVID.) He called quickly w/an estimate. He described what they needed to do & how many hours of labor, & let me know that my repair costs were high compared to the value of the car. I think it’s usually “cheaper to keep her” so we went with the big,safety repairs & skipped the unnecessary ones. Don is professional, knowledgable & friendly.

Joe and Gary were great in dealing with my repairs. They were very thorough, detailed, and allowed me to provide the same parts myself (I found some for a few dollars less). The mechanics do an excellent job and in a timely fashion. While I hope I dont need to get my car repaired, should the event present itself, I trust Huntington Auto Body and Paint with my current and future vehicles.

I have been going to Huntington Car Care for years, and Don and the mechanics have consistently shown great integrity and honesty. They truly care for their customers and look out for their customers’ best interests, which is extremely rare in their profession. And their prices are extremely competitive and fair (plus they offer a military discount). I would never consider taking my car anywhere else when it needs work done.

Thanks s place is gem. It’s really hard to find a shop you can trust. They will explain things to me on the phone or in person. I don’t ever get pressured to fix things I didn’t come in for. They will tell you if they see something and tell you what to pay attention to know when it’s time to make the repair.

Just had a great experience with these guys. Fair and accurate estimates (we had two different repairs, both estimates were on point), quality work that is efficient, and straight forward customer service. I trust this shop, and can safely recommend them if youre looking for one.

Received a nasty scratch on the driver door of my 2017 Kia Optima. Huntington Car Care examined the damage, fully explained the repair and repainting necessary, gave me a fair estimate and accepted my car on the spot without an appointment. The work was competed in 1 1/2 days, my car was washed and returned in pristine condition. They repaired the scratch and the paint is seamless. The entire team was professional, pleasant and extremely helpful. Take your car here!!!

This team is fantastic. Not only do they have reasonable rates and hard-working staff, but they really get the job done. My husband had an emergency with our trailer hitch and not only were they able to fit him in, but they worked for hours on the problem and charged us a very reasonable amount. Im leaving a picture of my receipt for anyone interested. Ive been going to this shop for years. I sent the receipt to a friend. He pointed out that I had been screwed on changing an air filter (true, and I had debated doing it myself). That day, they charged a guy who walked in $28 to change his flat tire. $60 in labor to install an air filter! Quite a price difference, and I know that the labor involved is quite different. The other prices on here may be ridiculous as well. I will not be returning to this shop. Only deal with them if you know what youre doing!

In all of Northern Virginia you will not find a business that is more customer focused, prompt, honest and fair. I had need of a minor repair on my 11 year-old Mercedes. Normally when you take a luxury car in for even the simplest repair, the shop thinks this is a chance to make a lot of money off of someone who can afford to pay more. Not here! I was told (surprise!) no parts needed, just remove a panel and replace it where a screw had come out. I was told it would take and hour and they could do it the next day. SHOCK: they did it for a minimal labor charge which was reasonable. I wish all service companies were like this!

Over the past 10 years, Don has saved me thousands of dollars I was expecting to pay. Well, I could do that for you, but it really doesnt need to be done, unless you want me to. Always friendly, and he and his crew are always helpful. Just dropped my car off to get the heat fixed, and not a worry to be had.

Got in an accident. Was rear ended. These guys made sure everything was working fine and looking fine. Noticed a problem with the cruise control and they offered to check it for free. Their customer service is top notch, and they put in the extra effort to help out during difficult situations. Hopefully I wont need their services again, but if I do, I know Im in good hands.

I can not recommend this auto shop highly enough. I had both called and visited a few other places before finally stopping by Huntington Auto as it is a bit further from where I live. However, the treatment that I received here was far and beyond better than other auto shops. I had some very minor scratches on my car and other shops wanted to do far more than necessary. I talked with Joe and he took care of the problem quickly, professionally, and even taught me a few things. 5 / 5 stars.

My family has been taking our cars to Don and his crew for as long as I can remember. His prices are firm but reasonable, and they will let you know if extra work needs to be done without forcing the issue (i.e. its up to you). His mechanics are honest and they will even use your replacement parts (obviously without warranty) if you just have something you just cant do yourself.I do a lot of my own car work but sometimes I need the skills only a shop with specialized tools can provide, and thats why I keep going back. I recommend them highly.

My cars front splash guard had been damaged and it tore off, taking a fender liner with it. I took my car to Huntington Auto Body and made an appointment for the next day to have it repaired. When I arrived at the appointed time, they already had the parts in-hand. They started work on it right away and the repair was completed in an hour. The quality of the repair was superior and it was a pleasure to work with them.

When I asked the owner of this shop to explain a repair he was going to do on my car, he told me it was very difficult for me to explain because I’m a woman, implying that women are not capable of understanding complex concepts about cars as men. I told him this was highly offensive and that he shouldn’t speak to his customers this way. The repairs were adequate, but this degrading & insulting experience has made it certain that I will not be returning to this shop for future repairs. Steer clear.

I, my father, and my family have been going to Don for years. He and his employees are smart, competent, and fair. He has gone as far as to answer questions over the phone and give advice without charging. When a repair fails within an unreasonable amount of time, he will fix it. They say finding a trustworthy auto repairman is difficult, well weve found ours.

Great and fast service

Extremely happy with this company! Somebody hit my SUV in a parking lot and the whole front bumper and side fender were dented and scratched, as were the head lights on the same side. From start to finish I was floored by the service this company provided; from Gary helping me out with the initial quote all the way to the finished product. My SUV looks fantastic ( better than before the accident) and they even cleaned up the other headlamp so it wasnt hazy compared to the new one. They also detailed my vehicle, which I felt bad about because I wasnt expecting that and it was a mess inside. The work was flawless and makes my 10+ year old vehicle look like it just came off the dealer floor. Prices were also better than others quoted, and they didnt try to do things that didnt really need to be done. I feel lucky to have found these guys since we all know there are plenty of places just looking to rip someone off. Thanks Gary and whoever did the work on my vehicle!

I cant tell you how much I *love* having a garage that treats me honestly. Ive had a couple occasions to compare estimates on my car, and by far and away, Dons answers are always clearer, his prices are lower, and the work is excellent. I had grease leaking around my axel- I had one garage tell me I needed a new front axel, and another tell me they needed to replace the axel boots for hundreds. Huntington Car Care took the time to figure out that it was just the clamps on the axel boots, and replaced those for a fraction of the cost others quoted. I was so grateful they really looked into it, rather than giving me an easy (expensive) answer.

Short version: They wanted $500 in labor to change spark plugs. Markup parts prices 500%. Hope and feed on customers who dont know better, and cost 2X dealership.When I found this place on Yelp and Google I was excited to have a reputable shop within walking distance. I dropped my vehicle off right away and everything seemed great. Unfortunately the reviews seem undeserved. When they called me with their diagnosis, the conversation became more and more dishonest. They said the engine was misfiring because of a bad ignition coil (sounds right) and that it the bad coil needed replaced (right). They then said that I should replace all 6 ignition coils (slight red flag) to be safe. A little odd since the other coils should still have 40,000+ miles of life, but this place had great reviews, so I was really trying my best not to get skeptical.Then they said that because my car takes special laser-cut spark plugs (big red flag) it was going to cost $1,300. To fix just the bad coil, it would be $800, but my car would probably break down again right away. I know DC is expensive, but thats outrageous. I said Id call them back.I called the Toyota dealership. The dealership should be the most expensive shop in town, since they use only factory (not aftermarket) parts, have specialized training and give white glove service. Dealerships have the added benefit of a corporate structure you can call up if you have service problems. The dealership quoted me $650 to get my truck running (which would be fixing the bad coil plus two others on the same side of engine). If I wanted to be super safe and replace all six ignition coils, like HCC claimed I should do, the dealership would fix it for $800 with factory parts.Huntington Car Care wanted DOUBLE what the Toyota dealership did. A 3rd party shop using aftermarket parts, with mechanics of questionable skill and no amenities (shuttle service/loaner), thought a 1-2 hour repair warranted $1,300. Its one of the simplest repairs anyone could do, and one of the first things any mechanic learns. Their price broke down as:--$17 per spark plug (3-5x part cost)--$121 per ignition coil (2-3x aftermarket cost, more than OEM)--$500 in labor.When you push back on them, they throw out all the mechanical jargon indicative of a dishonest shop. Car people will recognize this, but unfortunately it works to scare the majority of people who dont know better, and they get tricked into over-paying. A good mechanic wants you to understand everything going on, and will explain in simple terms. If you get nothing else from this review, I hope people recognize jargon as a red flag for rip off.They claimed my economical 7 year old Rav4 needed top shelf laser cut $17 spark plugs. Thats when I gave up on them. They were obviously hoping to take advantage of someone in a tough spot. I had to suck up public transit for a few days but ordered parts and a couple tools for less than $300 and fixed the truck in under 2 hours a few nights later.Im angry at the shop, and sorry for the people leaving positive reviews who clearly dont know better. Consider Toms Auto Stop in Shirlington - thats how an HONEST garage operates. Ive been there before and they were great, just not convenient to where I live now. Or go to your dealership - youll still spend less than if you let Huntington Car Care rip you off.
