Great store, expensive but art supplies always are, extremely helpful and knowledgeable employees, unfortunately as the main store is in Santa Fe and shipments are delivered there first the abq location is constantly out of stock on numerous items
Received the best advice, and also a warm welcome for where to post an upcoming solo exhibit/reception, by two different employees.Found exactly what I needed. My only caveat is the bad planning by CABQ for accessible parking. High sidewalks without a curbed slope for access.Because of that I wasnt able to use my manual wheelchair. Ill take it up with the City!
This place has everything a painter needs. Many brands of paint and brushes plus archival quality canvasses. This is where the professionals shop. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommended!
Love this place and their employees are always helpful. They dont always have the paper types that I need is the only reason for 4 stars
0_o/* Other than Hobby Lobby, Artisan art store is I believe Albuquerques last surviving art store. The pandemics been exceptionally hard on them. I work next to them & love them all & their store. They really are wonderful, kindhearted people...like a family. I know theyre struggling because of online sites like eBay & Amazon. I appeal to Burques passionate art community to please help us keep their fantastic local business alive by shopping locally!~: )
Very nice selection of art supplies. Helpful staff.
I feel that Artisan they enjoy challenge so if they ask can i help please answer with the most difficult thing to find its so cool and if they pass you up man Im sorry but they are so cool a costumer of 4+ years
The staff was super helpful and made it easy to find everything I needed. The gentleman who helped me spent the time to answer all my questions and even stayed past closing to ensure I had everything I needed. Their expertise also helped keep me from making some very expensive mistakes. Normally you expect a business to upsell you but I felt they just wanted to make sure I had what was right for me. A local business that is customer focused, I look forward to my next visit.
This was my first time in this lovely art store. The workers are very knowledgeable and helpful. They have a great selection of art supplies for those who are taking art classes or whose skill level is a step or two above what they sell at Hobby Lobby. They have very high quality supplies without having astronomical prices. I will definitely come back to shop here! My daughter is a college art student and was so grateful she found what she needed here in town and she didnt have to order online! Take some time to check out this great art shop, you will be glad you stopped by!
Nice place. Lots of pens, color pencils, markers, ect. Only one full choice in gel pens. The Gelly Roll pens can only be bought individually no sets. Everything else was great. Also a lot of painting choices.
Was greeted pleasantly and took my time shopping for supplies and got my questions answered. My go to place for art supplies. The staff are always knowledgeable and will go out of their way to help you.
Great selection of art supplies. I will definitely be back to shop when my painting supplies are slow.
Love the place! Went here because there arent a lot of art shops in Albuquerque other then Hobby Lobby or Michaels. The VARIETY this store had as impressive. Although, they dont have EVERYTHING it still has a wide enough selection for an artist.
Friendly and kind staff, very easy to navigate store and staff are ready to be helpful if any trouble. Look forward to getting our art supplies from here from now on!
Great staff and a great selection
Good art supply store, local not a chain.
They always have friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff to help you find you what you need. Well stocked.
Staff is friendly and helpful. Their selection of drawing and mixed media pads was limited and kinda pricey. Id mostly come here to pick up brushes, pencils and paint
Very helpful with our brush and acrylic paint selections! Friendly and fun store!
Everything. They have EVERYTHING- in every color and in every brand you wont find at your more mainstream corporate shops like Hobby Lobby or Michaels, for example. They accommodate the very novice artist as well as the ridiculously skilled modern day DaVincis, and everyone in between who may need to pick up art supplies for a school project. And if you dont know what youre looking for, the employees are always verrryyyy helpful and knowledgeable and even offer to order a product for you if they have run out and/or dont carry a certain color, size, texture, etc.! Fabulous gem of a place, a true treasure tucked up in Nob Hill!
This store has almost anything you could need in the realm of fine art. The only downside, but expected from this type of store, is that it doesnt specialize in one type of fine art and so if you need a very specific or specialized supply or material they may not have it. The staff is very helpful though and friendly. I would recommend this store to both beginners and professionals in the art world. Great store.
The variety of stones to choose from was fabulous! And the owner was so sweet & helpful. When he saw I was buying a lot, clearly to make jewelry, he gave me a better price. I learned a lot about the stones from him.
Great customer service and awesome art supply store. Better than Micheals or Hobby Lobby for tru artists
Great art supply shop with helpful and friendly staff.
This place is lovely, Especially their pens section for inking. There were so many goodies I could get that I could be in there for hours!
Love love love artisan art suppliesVery friendly and always ready to help
Its good
First time there. They were low on inventory due to covid. Im looking forward to the art classes starting again.
Great items sold there
While every store tries their best to keep stocked up, quality of service sets them apart and beyond.
Great selection, friendly staff. Dont go to hobby lobby, people.
Has all the art paper you could hope for and the associates are so nice and helpful
I find the staff is always extraordinary extraordinary helpful and patient with answering questions and being helpful as I buy my art supplies as I learn how to oil paint Im definitely glad theyre part of my city that I live in
Nice little place to buy some things for art, bought an oversized canvas that I couldnt get anywhere else.
Awesome selection of supplies. I came in specifically for brushes and walked out with 4 more than I intended, plus some oil medium to try. I’m really thrilled with the quality and the service. I could spend hours in here looking at everything. If you’re a serious artist- hobbyist or professional- or you just want some good quality materials to play with, this is definitely the place to go. Other craft stores just don’t have the selection. You can’t find certain brands like Princeton at hobby lobby or michael’s- unless it’s the ultra cheap student-quality synthetics. Those aren’t bad brushes, mind you, they’re just intended for a different purpose and medium. I’m primarily an oil painter but I dabble in watercolor and acrylic occasionally. I absolutely fell in love with oil painting after only a couple of months and a couple of small paintings before diving in head first. I started off with a started sample kit of Windsor and Newton Artisan water mixable oil colors that only had blue, yellow, and white with a varnish and quick dry medium, and now I have a drawer full of various oil paints, thinners, varnishes, mediums, oils, brushes, canvases, etc, and have even started on a large commission. If I need anything beyond a jug of gamsol, and I need it quickly, I go to Artisans.
Not enough nice art supply places left. This one has everything and more.
This is a wonderful resource...an actual brick & mortar art store here in Burque. Please support this business, git yer a$$ in there, fulfill those creative urges!
Ive been going to Artisans for over 20 years. The inventory and staff are stellar. And whats good is that the folks that work there stick around. Ron and Paul, part owners of the the store, are super people too. Obviously they treat their employees well and its a positive place to work. Whats not to love about Artisans that caters to artists in one of the richest and creatively diversified gallery markets in the country. High order to fill and Artisans has stepped up every time.
Love this art store.....my one and only art store in ABQ, NM. Im a new member of the Albuquerque Art League and just used my 10% off discount at Artisan Art Shoppe. The Albuquerque Art League and Artisan have a new life long person who uses both places for life guy.Joseph Acosta
Just an awesome place filled with awesome goodies and knowledgeable folks.
Excellent selection and service without over paying. We will be back
Love this place! Just wish they had longer hours 😊
I love coming here! Good selection. Great prices. And wonderful, friendly staff!
As an artist I try to visit an art store when I travel to a new city. I am not sure why there are so many negative reviews for this quaint, little art store. I found it to be well stocked and prices were average. I even found some items that were less expensive here. The staff was friendly, courteous, and very helpful. I will definitely come to the Artisan the next time I visit Albuquerque.
I never went to art school, so I go to Artisan! The employees there have taught me so much! I am forever grateful. There is also a pretty good rewards program--for every $500, I get $50 back. Love when I hit that milestone, which is pretty often since this store has whatever I need and makes it fun and easy for me.
Not only helpful but honest and knowledgeable as well. I went to this store after visiting a few other places and felt valuable as a customer. The staff is very approachable and the store is adequately stocked. This place is handy for amateur or pros.
My favorite brand of artist grade paints at good prices in all the colors I could need, also with very friendly and helpful staff.
I wish I could give ZERO starts. Just like many other reviews, these guys just DONT CARE. I will be fair, there were times where I did receive the help I needed. But I came into the store once and asked for a product, an employee passes me. I ask him can you help me out, one moment, Im with a customer. I say ok, wait 5, 10, 15, minutes, he passes me again, no care. I go look there are at least three people at the counter all this time on their phones/chatting. What the hell. I THINK THEY CATER TO OLDER / CERTAIN CUSTOMERS. Very disrespectful, out the door, and not a word.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. In general, very good selection of art supplies. Specifically, Im a watercolorist and they have a great selection of paper, paint, and brushes at very reasonable prices. Great experience. Will put this on my list of stops/shops when Im in Albuquerque.
Get your art on here. This is real supplies for artists. They always have what I am looking for.
Super friendly staff that assist and guide you in selecting the supplies you need. I stopped by here to pick up various things for an art class and loved the help I got in finding all my supplies. Prices were very reasonable. Will be back!
Plenty of great art supplies but the staff pretty much ignores you. They go about their business as if there were no customers in the store. If you track down some help, they may or may not know the answer to your question because while several of the staff are very knowledgeable, others arent. For the prices -- which are higher than online sources, service would be an important element.
Nobody else in town carries what they carry. Its reasonably priced (not cheap but hey, you get what you pay for). If youre looking for art supplies above entry level, artisan is your place
If you are an artist, a local, or just someone who loves to browse this is the place! They have everything and have an extremely knowledgeable staff who is always there to help.
I always have a good time when I visit the Artisan. They have a little bit of everything for the artist to enjoy, from paints and markers to frames and canvases. Honestly, the only problem Ive ever had is that they dont always have every color or every tool for a given medium you could be searching for in stock. But that doesnt stop them from special ordering what I need, when necessary. Convenient location right next to UNM and Nob Hill makes it hard to avoid, at times. Youll probably watch a bill grow, but, when youre doing art at home, youll know why.
It is a art store nothing spectacular.
Good local art supply and always helpful.
The selection is great. If you know art, you know youre going to pay a little more than Hobby Lobby. Everytime I go here I always know what Im looking for. The staff is very knowledgeable and I see them answering customers questions all the time. My experience with them has been very helpful and friendly. 10% discount if you are a college student, wish they had the same option for military. Still a great store and I still shop here.
Best place to shop for art supplies
They pretty much have all the art supplies that I needed. And the staff there are very nice and helpful.
Very friendly and helpful staff
Favorite Art supply store. They have specialty papers that I have trouble sourcing from big chains, a very wide selection and a staff of knowledgeable artists. I have never had anything but positive experiences here and I will usually go here over their larger competitors because of the quality of service.
Lots of choices, cheaper than other places Ive been
Shopping 🏬 there since 1983 they still provide my needs {▪︎▪︎▪︎} 😎👍🏾
This is my happy place. I could spend all day walking around. If I could Id buy everything!
Colored pencils, and other high end supplies totalling over $100.00 will be back
I actually love the the selection at this store. Moving back from California and finding this place was great!!! But the employees could care less if you are there are not. They are rude and pretty much ignore you. Its too bad because I love shopping local but will only go back for some specific items.
As a person in a wheelchair this is a nightmare if a place to yet and get around. The staff will stand behind the register and watch you struggle through to get down an isle and you have to start knocking things down before they decide to ask if maybe you need some assistance. This is a TOTALLY SAD knock off of the amazing Santa Fe store. Its ridiculously small, cramped, doesnt hold a candle to the Santa Fe store. I only shop here if I absolutely have to. Its horrible facsimile of the original.
Good selection
This is a great local store that offers a wide range of supplies including higher end and quality art supplies than is available at the chain art and craft stores. The selection is better than anything else available in the state except the other Artisan location in Santa Fe, which would rival a Dick Blick in size and selection.
A pretty good shop, a bit pricey but it is worth it! Great selection of canvass & other good products to your need. Also not to bad on customer service either.
Very well protected and clean, beautiful, and full of useful stuff.
I had a great experience here. The sale associates were terrific and very helpful. Definitely recommend this place.
The place to go for fine art supplies. When youve out grown the Michaels and Hobby Lobby supplies this is the place to go
If the UNM bookstore doesnt have a certain sort of tool for your art piece, this place probably has it. They carry quality products for almost any kind of art media project you can think of. Kind staff, excellent selection, and decent pricing all-around.
I enjoyed my visit to this local art supply store. Great to support a locally owned business rather than a chain! Interesting selection and friendly staff.
I love walking into this store! It has a great variety of supplies for professional artists as well as beginners! Its a great place to indulge in quality art supplies!
This is the only independent art store my daughter wants to shop. It smells like paint, ink and paper. Absolutely delightful!
I love this store! The staff was super nice and friendly, and answered to all of my questions! They have a huge assortment of any type of art materials, and I found everything I needed!
I find some of the best prices for the supplies I need here. Like beating Amazon prices. The staff is also very helpful.
Staff was awesome helping me pick an acrylic pen for a.fly rod inscription!
The people here are so sweet and helpful everytime I need anything.
Great local art supply store. Knowledgeable, friendly staff.
Very helpful, when I explained the kind of item I wanted they had it, at a fair price and a smile. Had things I could not find online.
Great customer service
This review is for the store near UNM on Monte Vista in ABQ. A very complete art-supply store with many hard-to-find items and a competent and helpful staff. Prices are fair, considering they purvey a lot of stuff that doesnt sell in high volumes. This is not a Hobby Lobby or Michaels, but we have succeeded with Artisan several times each year when the Big Guys let us down.
Very rarely do I drive out of my way to visit a specific store. However, Artisan sounded like a place I wanted to check out so after a long day at work I trekked a few miles out of my way to make a pit stop.Let me be clear before I go on a tirade: Artisan is an art supply store and carries a fairly decent selection of products most artists would want (although at somewhat elevated prices). It fills the shoes of an art store just fine.HOWEVER.... this is honestly one of the worst cases of bad customer service I have seen in a store of this type. The staff are downright rude and make it obvious that they feel you are inconveniencing them. There wasnt a helpful soul in this store except for another customer who seemed to know more than the staff and eventually helped me find what I wanted (which ended up being in Walmart for a lot cheaper). Beyond the abysmal service from the staff, the store is also very poorly organized. Notebooks I was in search of were scattered between multiple sections of the store and had no rhyme or reason that I could see. That doesnt mean that there wasnt a reason, just that it didnt seem apparent to me as a customer.I really hate stores like this that have a specialty product that you need but fail in every other way. These are the places that force me to want to buy everything online where it is clearly organized and I dont have to deal with people who are dicks. The only reason this place earns 2 stars is because they actually have some of the product that I expected and now I know exactly what I need when I buy it from someone else.
Probably one of my all time favorite art supply shops. Staff is helpful, just dont be intimidated by the artshool vide the kids are alright.
Stopped by to pickup some supplies for Zine Fest 8 and the staff was super helpful and friendly. Found exactly what I needed. They also have a student discount.
Love this place. Friendly knowledgeable people running the store. Always a good experience when we go.
Prompt help and excellent answers. I was escorted to the location of what I came to buy. Nice, intelligent, friendly employees.
Super helpful employees and so many great products.
Awesome thank you so much for being friendly and helpful with purchasing art products.
The best art supplies in New Mexico. And you might see Gene Hackman shopping!
Artisan in Abq n Santa Fe is great. Get some supplies. Make a project. Feel good.
Great place to go for art supplies. A bonus they were recording radio show with visiting artist and musician
