Nice variety but they need to go back to letting u try on wigs as long as u have a cap especially since the wigs never look like the picture. Then they have the alarm on the front in the middle so u cant really even pull it out to feel the hair before u buy it.

This place is amazing, the front desk lady helped me so much and it was such a cute atmosphere. the amount of ignorant people in this store makes me so frustrated because at the end of the day, the workers are there to work and everyone’s trying to get their money up. Stop coming if all you do is cause problems. i can’t shop without someone being disrespectful about every little thing. Horrible beauty supply store and Horrible customer service. **Please please SHOP BLACK OWNED!!** I went here for years for convenience, but since lately the customer service and quality here has gone downhill. Most recently, I was sold a blow dryer that doesn’t work, when I went in to exchange or return I was told “we can’t guarantee that our products work and to call the number on the box and that all sales are final.” To be a loyal customer here and to have the cashier (short female of Asian descent) be so rude, and unwilling to make the sale right is beyond shocking. To not guarantee that the products you sell (so much as a hair tool), doesn’t work imagine the quality in hair they are selling us. You tell me you can’t guarantee that a tool works, so how can you assure me that I’m buying human hair and not faulty cheap synthetic hair? I’ve been coming here less and less because the dynamic and atmosphere has changed a lot and they are starting to care less about the community that they are selling to and it shows, if you pay attention. They want our dollars and they need our money. I will be traveling over an hour out of my way to Avoid such a dis tasteless store. Please it’s not worth it. Not all but, most of these Asian ran companies do not care about our service because they know we (Black women) make up the majority of there demographic to which they are selling to, they look down on us because they think we will always be there for a sale. Horrible place. I just came from there. This is the place I first started going to when I moved to Albany about 3 years ago. They were never hospitable even then, but not to bad. Now it has turned into a full blown jail. Equipped with a security guard. Thats fine nothing to wrong about that. Im there to spend money. But when I needed help and asked for it, the orange hair girl was not helpful. In fact she acted like she was mad that I interrupted her conversation with Mr. Security. Girl please. You are at work. The whole vibe in that store is gross! Man I took my money directly across the street, where they made me feel welcomed and helped me. Not to mention the prices were much better. For good hair. Never will I go there again. Everyone support our own! Go across the street.

With a receipt you can’t return nor exchanged. I spoke with the owner he indicated he has signs outside his building in at the front register, I’ve never seen it and I run out with the owner. New York State law do we have 30 days to return or exchange an item.Then they follow you around the store.Never once did anyone ask if I needed help, but it was clear that a gentleman was watching! The absolute worst hair store ever. Don’t waste your time high prices terrible customer!!

BSW is a well stocked beauty supply store...but lacking in sound business policies and practices. They may need to expand to a better location to properly accommodate customers and employees. Maybe similar to how Sallys Beauty supply, has expanded there businesses. Consider opening up store #2 in a safe location with better parking facilities and no meters. Such as West Gate Shopping Center...Central Ave, close enough not to lose customers. Then BSW could start putting in new policies in place accepting returns, and exchanges, respect customers complaints. Create a better store environment that make sense. The selling of Good and services should be transacted in a warm pleasant environment. Buying a wig is a very personable thing. Customers should always be treated with dignity and respect. Why purchase a wig if you cannot try it on...are return an item...thats a Ripe-off! Changing times will soon demand better conditions for both customers and the employees. A new normal is coming to American small businesses. Every small business will not survive during these tough economic times. My advice is to change...are get left behind. The selection of merchandise at BSW supersedes all other suppliers that sell hair products to the African American Community, Albany area. Your customers want, like, and need, what you sell. Dont be afraid...and miss your window of opportunity to step out the darkness into the marvelous light...Treat all customers the way you want to be treated. I am a retired cosmetologist, from 1984- 2009. I owned a small business for ten years and worked in three different States. I have an MBA Degree, I recognize a good small business when I see one.. BSW, has a large a following of customers. Albany needs businesses that have great potential.

I love this place if you are an American that isnt Caucasian you will have every hair product you need and more, there is a wide variety to choose from but unfortunately not a lot of colored wigs I love a good weave but wigs are my thing I say this because black or African American doesnt describe every person of color everyone doesnt come from Africa.

The store is very organized and clean. However they do not allow for returns, exchanges or anything of those services which is a rip off. Some of their products are also overpriced. I recommend going somewhere else if you’re unsure of anything or trying something new and want the best bang for your buck.

Not worth being treated like a thief or criminal nor spending your hard earned money there. The other reviews regrading this store’s poor and offensive treatment towards their customers are very factual. I took my Aunt there to purchase braiding hair. When she went in alone, she paid for and brought the wrong brand. I returned with her to exchange for the correct pack of hair and the owner preceded to approach us as we were walking towards getting the right kind. He attempted to Confiscate the bag of hair we already purchased. We told him we were just there and it was merchandise we brought from his store only 15 minutes ago. He still insisted we give him the bag. At such point, we asked for a refund because we no longer wanted to do business anywhere that treats their customers like thieves.

I have been a loyal customer of BSW for years. Recently, I bought 2 packages of their most expensive hair of $150 dollars per package, within a week the hair became very tangled, shedding, bulking up and totally lost its shine and bounce. Obviously, this was a poor purchase on their part. Of course, they will not see it as their fault or even exchange the hair.Now, I cant bring it back due to their open package policy. I find this to be very upsetting to all the loyal customers that have supported this business for many years. The most important part is that I work very hard for my money and now it is wasted. I want to encourage as many people as possible to buy your hair and beauty supplies somewhere else where you are valued. I find that the BSW owners have LOST The True Meaning of Excellent Customer Service. Shame on You!!!

Very bad place!!!! Never go there! Horrible customer service! I have been doing my own hair and professionally for 6 years now and I wanted to make myself a wig. With the counseling of the lady that helped me I got a stocking wig cap. As soon as I got home I opened the package judging it from my hand I knew it would not work because I have a big head and a large amount of hair. I originally planned to do an Even exchange since the wig cap never touch my scalp. The Chinese owner was very rude to me! First he said I can’t return or exchange. When I prompted him to the back of the receipt saying I can. He then tried to argue with me over my head and how it can fit. Listen I know my hair and head I know what can and what can’t fit. I was going to pick up a more expensive wig cap to pay the difference. He rudely told me if this can’t fit nothing can fit. I have never experienced such a horrible customer service in my life. He just lost a customer I will never go back to him. Word for the wise don’t go there and the prices are a rip off!

I like this beauty supply store because the people here and there sales people are friendly and very informative the prices are very reasonable and there are many different things there you can get what hair pieces in hair extensions you can get there you can also get jewelry makeup hair product and probably other things that I didnt notice l.Is Mexico cheaper than the name brand lancome or even went wild and theyre much better products there for makeup.

They have everything u need. The only thing wrong u cant try on the wigs. So how u going to know if u going to look good . I cant pay something that I dont know how I look like in or on me. The only bad thing is the wigs. They need to change that policy when it comes to the wigs.

This store partners with wig companies and buys the cheap bad batches. They mark them at a high price and put them on sale to make it seem as though youre getting a bargain. Take your time to compare their prices to the official vendor online. The wig I purchased was marked $250 on sale for $150 and it lasted 3 weeks before it began to tangle, dread and Matt. I take proper care of all of my wigs, this is the worse.

The workers are very helpful, but the owners look at you/treat you like youre beneath them the moment you walk in!! Im in the area on business and needed a few things, this was the first place I came across. I would rate this place negative if I could. I just left this store they were obscenely rude. They made me buy an eyebrow pencil that was already opened because they claimed it wasnt for testing & that I used it. They had an attitude the minute I walked in. I asked for an opinion on hair and she sarcastically answered telling me that I was color blind. Mind you I bit my tongue and was still fairly nice. They all sit around talking the entire time but the minute you do something they snap at you as if they were watching in the first place. Ive never been to such a money hungry and horribly run place in my life. not to mention I only bought what I desperately needed. I couldve spent way more money in there if they were simply hospitable ..

I am from NYC, and have been in Albany for about 8 yrs. All I known is BSW!. This is the only place Ive shopped for hair, wigs and other beauty supplies, but for whatever reason, no matter what, that Damn china man aint never friendly, or welcoming. But besides that, their special discount policy is completely wack! I can spend like $300+ in approximately 3 months time, and it would only accumulate to $5-. They dont have the best quality hair, so why are the prices so high too? Just my thoughts. Hope yall express yours as well.

I would not recommend anyone doing buisness at this store! One, they are over priced and there are plenty of beauty supply stores on central ave, that are deserving of your business. Second, their customer service is the ABSOLUTE WORST!!!! If you are indecisive of a potential purchase make sure you are informed of their return and exchange policy. DO NOT BUY IT!!!! They have nothing listed in store stating the policy and its only noted on the back of the receipt, after youve made your purchase!
