Overall the coffee is good, and the food is fresh. But please up your home fry game. Very little seasoning. Either look like they have been sitting in the fridge for 5 days or burnt to crisp on the grill. No in between. I thought I cracked my tooth on one. Been eating there for 5 years and the home fries have never gotten better. Pic of the home fries is on a busy Saturday morning. You’d think you’d throw a fresh batch in the oven that morning to satisfy the wave for the morning.
My co-workers and I usually get a weekly lunch from Blackbird Cafe in Acton. We are never disappointed! Even the few times there has been a mistake in the order they have been very kind at fixing it. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, great food!
I will be back again for sure! The highly recommended Ranchero breakfast sandwich from the Blackbird Cafe in Acton, MA. Right off the bat, the grilled tuscan bread brings so much.. The egg and veggie is choice (especially those fresh red onions!) The bacon is high grade and thick cut. Together with the cheese... magic. Perfectly accompanied by a double cappuccino from their coffee bar. PRO TIP: After I got there I realized you can order in advance online.
Awesome breakfast and lunch place. Very happy to choose from so many options they have.
Relaxing and cozy space with the most friendly staff members. The latte with peanut butter and banana syrup was tasty and the early bird bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich was really good. I do wish I got the 2nd egg on it. They packaged their togo food really well, having it wrapped in tin foil, then wax paper and put in the bag with plenty of napkins. A little pricey, but understandable with the increase of costs in the industry, but so worth it for supporting a local business.
Cant believe this place only has 4 stars?! This is my GO-TO for sandwiches in the area. SO GOOD! Im sorry so many people are uptight and want to hurt an AWESOME local business because they are working so hard and forgot your bacon once.
Delicious Chicken Salad San, and the Hibiscus Ice Tea is fantastic!
Had a very good experience here with my girlfriend. The food arrives rapidly and the service is just awesome. Prices are reasonable.
Love my usual 💕 northener breakfast sammie with added avocado 🥑 😋 absolutely the best. But everything we get from here is honestly!
We were so excited to try this place. Unfortunately even though we got there on time for curbside pick up the food was wet & soggy. And they provided no napkins. Eating it was a mess. They gave us the wrong drinks & forgot an item we paid for. I tried to fix this issue by calling and knocking on the door and even though I could see staff inside they didn’t answer the phone or the door. There was no way for me to get the problem fixed. We are very disappointed.
Always great food and coffee. The gluten free wraps for the breakfast burrito are so good, youll wonder if they are really gluten free!
I love Blackbird Cafes original location in Groton, MA so I was ecstatic when they opened this new location in Acton. The food is delicious. Service can be a bit slow at this location, especially on the weekends during peak hours, but there is ample seating inside and even a couple of outdoor tables.
I absolutely love this place! They have tons of gluten free options and they are super friendly.
There should be more places like this! Delicious warm food with tons of flavor(Try the breakfast burritos) The coffee is tasteful and hot! A place you can truly come to and grab a coffee and bite and do some work. Staff were very kind and made sure every customer was satisfied! Try it out! Forget starbucks or Dunkin!
Good local cafe. Nice people. No indoor service at all right now - order ahead for pickup. A couple of outdoor tables - good for a cup of coffee (as I just had there).
Service was good. Place was clean. Food was OK.
Food is good. Teas and coffees are fantastic.
Great lunch menu just a cut above the usual. All take out at the moment but still worth the trip.
Great food, Great service, Great ownership.. Highly recommended if youre in or around Acton.
Had a delicious vegetarian lunch bowl!!
Best coffee around hands down!
Had a terrific 3 cheese grilled sandwich with tomato and avocado...ordered on line, sandwich arrived on the outside rack early, and I was able to eat it in the sunshine at one of the cafe tables. Blackbird can really produce a great sandwich! Definitely one of the best places in the area.
I would first of all like to thank the Blackbird team for the sublime gesture of provding food for the Emerson Hospital staff. My wife was elated after many many long hours of work to have such excellent food. Today we ordered DoorDash and that was quite possibly one of the best breakfast bagels I have ever had. Thank you!
Love the chocolate strawberry lattes, I hope it becomes a regular flavor instead of seasonal!
I love Blackbird. I am a night nurse and I go here after most shifts for a breakfast sandwich to take home. The food is good and the prices are reasonable but the service is the best part! Everyone is kind and good at their jobs. Great place to pick up sandwiches/coffee to go or sit and have breakfast. Couldnt recommend more!
For Jill: Thanks for brightening my day pre-blizzard! I was not having a good morning until our interaction. So appreciative to Jill and the cafe for always accommodating my special Caesar Panini order. Wishing you all a wonderful day! Giancarlo
3rd time I have ordered a sandwich and received NO BACON. For a $10 breakfast sandwich I would at least expect bacon and melted cheese. The times I did actually get bacon it was ONE slice. Overpriced. Constantly incorrect. Bagels suck.
The sandwich I ordered was delicious really good ingredients but it was tiny! for 11$ I would not buy there again, what a shame because it was really good.
I like this spot! They prepare excellent food, their menu is nice, The chief cook in that place is a real pro, I enjoy a lot trying all their dishes. The dishes are consistently of high class, the service towards the customers is friendly. I frequently visit this restaurant and I not even once was disappointed. I recommend it to all.
Wow… Cozy but the food is well worth the stop. The coffee is awesome… as are the omelettes and the blueberry pancakes. As a Starbucks fanatic, I would definitely come back for the coffee alone!
Best breakfast burrito yet!
They offer an awesome variety of delicious food. I love eating here. Staff members are always very friendly, pricing is convenient and the spot is always kept clean.
Safe, fast curbside pickup! Food was packaged awesome, it was still really hot when I ate it 20 minutes after pickup. Great food!
Best spot in the area for a sandwich, bowl, or latte. They have great vegetarian and gluten free options, and reasonable prices. Seating is a bit limited, and my only recommendation to the management would be to replace the large table in the center of the room with a row of small tables (think New York City space management).Nonetheless, cant beat the extensive menu and great food!
Happy to see that they are still open even if its just for take-out orders.
Good breakfast. Great lattes. Freshly prepared good food at a reasonable price for quality. The veg mix is what hash browns should be when they grow up. Highly recommended
Amazing breakfast in a little strip mall in Acton. I love the scallion and goat cheese scramble and the quinoa breakfast bowls. Hard to find seats weekend mornings. My only suggestion would be to make it easier for new guests to find the menus. Especially if there is a bit of a line it can be hard to realize where to look for food and drink options.
Super easy to order online, and curbside pickup during COVID has been a breeze! The breakfast and lunch sandwiches are fantastic - ham and swiss melt has my vote!
I constantly come getting some food here. I love the swift customer service and well cooked food. They never disappoint.
I love the blackbird GROTON, but acton is has by far the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. I have worked in restaurants and customer service for years so I know it can a hard job, but it’s also important to treat your guests with curtesy. EVERY time we order it’s wrong. This most recent time they put our food outside and left our drinks inside for 15 minutes until we realized and asked them for our drinks. Our food was cold and our iced drinks were no longer cold. I will never order from this location again. Manager was awful when I brought it to her attention and basically hung up on me. GO TO GROTON! They are great!
The food and coffee are excellent.
The food here is delicious. I had the goat cheese and scallion scrambled eggs. The bread and potatoes are very good. Friendly, casual atmosphere.
A great breakfast spot. Relaxed atmosphere. Good seating. Excellent food.
I love the personality of this place. The coffee is great and my son loves the english muffins. It is helpful to know how self serve the place is before you go (you bus your own tables, etc.). If you are in a hurry, you can order ahead online or by phone. I really hope they succeed because the place is so charming and the quality seems really good. I look forward to trying everything they have to offer. Will update after more experiences there...
Love the food here. The belgium waffles are great
The food is good but I am annoyed that when you order a sandwich takeout you don’t get chips. When you buy the same exact sandwich for the same price and eat it there, you get chips. I just had to spend an extra $2+ to get a bag of chips takeout. This makes no sense whatsoever. When I complained about it the woman at the register was no help whatsoever.
Quaint little spot, with some awesome coffee. The food took a little longer than your average coffee house, but that just meant they took their time. My egg sandwich was delicious.
Excellent for breakfast or lunch. Coffee and tea outstanding. Great staff. Not fancy but far superior to the usual suspects.
Good
The Blackbird Cafe is perfect in a number of ways. The food options are wide open, from tasty pastries to full breakfasts & sandwiches (everything Ive tried has been very, very good!) They know their coffee as well - a *must* for a cafe. The space is very wide open so its easy to have a comfortable conversation. The Blackbird is very popular, so getting a table seat can be tricky during busy times. But they also have bar stools along a bar by the window.I highly recommend the Blackbird Cafe in Acton!
Food was pretty good, but Im probably not going back because it was so expensive. I ordered a sandwich on an english muffin, and though it was generously sized, it costed 9 dollars, which was way to much for something like that.
Tasty homemade food! Attentive staff.
A fine cafe for delicious meals throughout the day. Also, a great staff who are very are very caring and efficient. I recommend the Blackbird Cafe for a fine meal and a pleasant environment!
$3 for a single roll of toilet paper? $5 for a paper mask? $7 for a dozen eggs? Way to price gouge during the COVID-19 crisis. Check it out on Door Dash, this is insane!
Delicious grilled cheese with spinach and goat cheese. Ate outside; it was lovely.
Great good, but ridiculously slow. Id love to keep coming here, but I cant wait for close to an hour for a takeout order.
I like their coffee and paninis. I used to work from there occasionally while having my breakfast and lunch. Unfortunately, their wifi stopped working and nobody seems to care! I had to move to a different cafe and they lost my regular business. Also, most of their power outlets are of very low quality and some of them are not even accessible. I wish they paid more attention to these issues because they matter to people like me who what to work from a cafe while having their meals.
It was an exciting day when I saw the signage for a Blackbird Cafe Acton location! Huge fan of their original spot in Groton, & now that theres a second location here, I get to resume regular visits!Food & coffee & service is on point -- just had breakfast here & it was delicious. Im so glad that such a lovely cafe has come to town -- Acton will seriously benefit from a place with good food like this.
If I could give them a negative 5 star I would! Terrible attitude by staff members. No greeting when entering, no menus up front, etc.(was told to look at the sign behind the counter or take menus off a table). We managed to find a menu and ordered. The cinnamon bun was hard a rock and arrived with no utensils. When I went up to ask for them, I received a rude response turn around, they were behind you. I could not see them as customers were standing/waiting in front of it blocking the area. When our food arrived, mine meal was cold. We also paid $2 extra for real maple syrup. It arrived cold and amounted to about 2 teaspoons! Hardly worth the $2!I brought my food back up, explained it arrived cold, they offered to warm it up in the microwave! I explained why that wouldnt work for me, the English muffin gets rubbery, the eggs overcooked, etc. and asked for a new meal. I overheard a staff member saying it was hot when she delivered it, I waited too long to eat it, accompanied by eye rolling and again a major attitude. To sum it up, food was mediocre at best. Considering it is self serve it is way overpriced ($40 for 2 people). And very snide attitudes, felt like we were the nerds walking into the cool kid party. It was our first visit, and our last!
Visited on a Friday morning. Place is an order at the counter type arrangement. Tables were full when we arrived but one opened up while we were ordering. Coffee was excellent. My wife had an omelet and I had the breakfast burrito both were very good and served hot. Have to self bus your table when finished by tossing trash and leaving plates in the bus bucket.Lost one star because this arrangement mean the tables dont get wiped down after each occupant, our still had crumbs and a water bottle from the previous guests. Someone jumped in after us so it was at least 3 parties at that table without a wipe down.
Delicious food, great atmosphere. Coffee and cafe drinks so good. Wait staff are amazing.
The coffee is awesome. The food is good too. Everything is made from scratch. The searing is somewhat limited.
Best breakfast and lunch place for quick bite or sit in and relax.
Food was great but there was a long wait for seating.
Came here because everything else was closed, and the hipster-ish joints usually have nice food. Ordered, waffle maker broken, played a board game, didnt realize water was free, etc. The food arrives, I ordered Blueberry Lemon Burst waffles (subbed pancakes), the blueberry lemon compote was actually a couple of plastic cups of thawed blueberries. Paired with ice cold butter. Flavorless. Youd expect that the meal that comes with a blueberry lemon compote would ACTUALLY HAVE IT! Very dissapointing. My friend ordered a quinwa bowl with bulgolgi. Full of greens and hardly as advertised. Tasted more like a salad with ham. (It was also full of home fries for some reason) Both of our meals were completely falsely advertised, and neither would ever be considered tasty. She took it home because she felt bad wasting so much money. We also shared a plate of the chipotle home fries. The sauce was good, but the potatoes tasted old, like they were cooked a few days ago. Overall, this meal definitely wasnt worth the *$35+* it cost. We would have gotten way better quality at a local greasy spoon. (If there were any, that is) On top of all of that, when we were ordering, we asked for water and the woman at the counter (while sharing memes with the cook) pointed us to bottled water. Little did we know, there was a large jug of iced water right next to us, but by the time we noticed wed already purchased. Dont judge this book by its cover, because the restaurant looked very nice, but the food was meh. No lemon or compote in the waffles, no Korean in the Korean bowl.
Tasty (odd thing to highlight, but the toast is the best). Expensive, but pretty much every restaurant in Massachusetts is too expensive. Meals are around $9-15.
Coffee, tasty breakfast, and tables with electrical outlets if you need them.
Love this place for a good breakfast or lunch. Only complaint is that people come and take up an entire booth by themselves just to read a book.
Fresh flavorful food, large varied menu and attentive service, tried many different items over the last few months always happy with my decision, highly recommended.
Wow bad! Informed the gal who took my order that I have Celiac and cant have any gluten. The Mediterranean salds I ordered is advertised as greens, artichoke, peppers, olives, tomato, and cheese. No croutons mentioned. Boy was I surprised when it came with croutons all over. Even after I expressly informed my server of my food allergies. I should have just gone to Rapscallion. Also, the salad was terrible, tasteless tomato (in the height of the local season !!,) canned olives, and canned salad dressing. Blech. For $9.70. Food allergen included gratis.
Great waffles and coffee!
My wife and I have been going here consistently for the last couple of months and every time our experience has been worst. Our first coffee from here was very impressive but since then it’s a hit or miss when we order coffee. We ordered breakfast sandwiches from here once and they were VERY delicious but on the expensive side. The muffins as well are good even the day old ones.
Very good food but not enough seating
Great breakfasts!
3x I have visited. 3x the order has been wrong. Ordering simple things like a sandwhich with no mayo or no cheese only to find them slathered in both. 2 stars bc the girls at the front at 2 of my visits were nice and apologetic. The first time the girl asked if i was taking my order to go.. I said no I will be eating in.. and her reply was we close in 15 minutes. Well, ok.I want to like this place but today at my 3rd visit.. a wrap order off the board no mayo. Get in the car and just do a double check and wouldnt you know..mayo.🤷🏻♀️ I went in for a refund. They couldnt figure the register, offered cash, then said it went through to my card, then said no it didnt then offered a gift card. I declined-- I wont be returning. They thought the refund happened.. only now I find out the card was charged twice. So I have to go back/call tomorrow when they open. This is supposed to be a quick, quaint place to go. Its a quick headache and hassle everytime. I dont get it. Disappointed to say the least.
Great food and coffee!
Over priced
Its good.
Love this place!
Great coffee and breakfast sandwiches.
Excellent
Good food
Pl
Food was just ok and the service was super slow. Our very ordinary tasting waffle took 45mins to come out, and it was cold and absolutely worse tasting. I wont go there again.
