I had a fantastic experience working with Ann Arbor Transmissions on a recent car issue. I fell victim to the flooded roads and they were able to get my car back in action. They worked with my insurance and made sure everything was handled. Steve answered all of my calls and he was helpful and knowledgable every step of the way. Id recommend Ann Arbor Transmissions to anyone.

Had them rebuild a Transmission in one of our F150 trucks a year and a half ago. Then transmission went again last week. Planetary gear is bad they told me there is no way it would go bad unless something else is bad. I found this to be inaccurate information. I contacted 2 other local transmission shops and was told that this is a really common issue with that truck and transmission. I was told that there is a needle thrust bearing that commonly goes bad and causes this exact issue. I was then told that since it is a commercial vehicle We only get a one year warranty which was not told to me during the initial repair. They did offer me a $2300 rebuild compared to the $2700 they charged me last time. I get it things break but not feeling great about them misleading me and not telling me about the warranty on a commercial vehicle. I gave them 2 starts because it worked for a year and a half.

I dropped my mom off this morning so they could check her check engine light and outside temperature gauge. I just went with her to pick it up and none of the electronics were working. This was not like that when we dropped it off this morning. We did not leave the parking lot went right back inside. The man said bring it back next week. We asked if he could look at it and if it was safe to drive. He said he was busy, shrugged his shoulders and said just bring it back next week. So we are stuck with a more broken car then we had this morning for at least the weekend. Obviously they do not care about customer safety in the things you can see, I wonder how unsafe their work under the hood is....

I was very happy with the way they conducted business. I spoke with Tom on the phone after having my transmission go out. Immediate he got a tow truck to come get it. Only after a few days, I had a better then new transmission. When I went to pick the vehicle up, I discovered that they also changed the torque converter. I was so happy to hear this. I would never have thought the price they gave me had that included. I also had them change the shift lever to repair the tow/haul mode. Excellent work!, a 2 year warranty!, and very friendly service. Thanks again Tom!

I have been going here for service on my car since I moved here back in the fall of 2016. I do a lot of research and talk to many people before selecting a shop to take my car to. I repeatedly heard good things about Ann Arbor Transmission. I have been consistently happy with the service and appreciate their honesty and their willingness to take the time and explain things to me.

Have been taking our old truck to this Carpenter Rd location for a couple years whenever repairs were needed. Have had transmission work as well as other repairs such brakes work, belts, fuel line and pump. Good work. Rob and tom are knowledgable and helpful. Weve had a good experience with this business.

I brought my truck in because something was wrong.I was told my rear end needed to be replaced no problem lets do it. 4 months later the rear end started having the same problem as before.I take it back, thinking it should be still under warranty, that was a mistake, after spending $1600 the first time, they said it would be another $800. They had explained to me that they were trying to save me money the first time so they didnt replace everything and the part that was broken was something that they didnt replace. So I reluctantly paid it now another six months is passed in my oil change guy said that it looks like it needs to be replaced again.

EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE!!! Very communicative, knowledgeable, honest. Brought my car here after a $3,600.00 estimate for a trans rebuild at another center. Tom called and gave their insight, which turned out to be the answer. They saved me 2,600.00!!!! Respect the fact that he explained everything honestly and kept me aprized of cost changes, parts delays, etc.. Wonderful to find a service center that does business honestly, efficiently and delivers what they promise. I will recommend them and continue service needs here on my car. Thank you Ann Arbor Transmission!!!

Ive had two great experiences with this business thus far - I can say with confidence that they are now my go-to auto shop in town. My 10-year-old car has had repeated issues with its air conditioning over the years, and after multiple visits, another place in town just couldnt figure out what was going on. The folks here had it figured out right away and were really fair with their analysis and estimate.Recently, I wanted to see if my car had more life in it or if it was time to start hunting for a new vehicle. After a very fairly-priced examination of my car, a number of reasonable issues were resolved at what I felt was a fair and reasonable price. They even left my car inside the shop over the weekend while I was out - super impressed by their service!

Truly professional service w/ a family style customer service approach. Over the past 8 years Ive had 5 different vehicles serviced by AAT. I have nothing but good things to say about their service, kindness & price. They stored a vehicle for over 2 months (no charge) while I (and them) looked for a new engine. I had 3 occasions where they looked at the vehicle & spent a lot of time & effort only to find out the repair needed was something only a dealership could handle. Again, no charge for all their efforts. They have provided unique transportation assistance while my vehicle was getting repaired. I have recommended them to my family and many friends.

One time I had just bought my 2nd car ever putting down 8k on it and still paying it off monthly. A few months in my whole transmission blew. I was a student at EMU and had no other funds until the semester started and my graduate assistant money kicked in. They let me bring the car in over the summer and gave me a new transmission. Gave me warranty (even though it never needed any additional repairs). And pay them off and retrieve when my funds from school came in!! They were super honest and helped me so much!!

After reading online reviews, including on Google and Yelp, I decided to take my truck into Ann Arbor Transmission Service where I was greeted by Tom. He was very friendly and very helpful, and made me an appointment for an inspection. My Tacoma had some steering issues, and before I dropped off my truck, Ron (the owner and head mechanic) did some research on the issue, and fixed my truck in less than half an hour and charged me an INCREDIBLY fair amount. He even provided me a print out with information he found online regarding his research on my trucks issue. Its rare that auto mechanics are this honest and friendly. I HIGHLY recommend Ann Arbor Transmission Service, and this place is definitely my go-to when I need auto repairs. The only things to keep in mind is that theyre open M-F 830-530, and Saturday 9-2pm. So, if you, like me, work 9-5, it can be difficult to have your car looked at. Also, its best to call ahead and make an appointment. I made an appointment, then I took a few hours off work and it was absolutely worth it. Again, I give it my strongest recommendation.

Firstly, Tom was very nice and pleasant to interact with every time I had occasion to do so.The owner also seemed like a generally pleasant guy. They came very highly recommended by somebody I know.Having said that, the only words I can think of to describe my experience there are along the lines of horrible and disheartening. After giving them over $4,000 and my truck being there for close to a month, literally every time I go to fix something they screwed up I find more things they screwed up. The screw ups actually outnumber the repairs (even including the repair they told me was completed, but clearly wasnt touched at all). This isnt might not have noticed stuff, but things anybody who knows anything about cars couldnt possibly have not known they were screwing up. When I had finally addressed enough of the issues myself that I thought it was reasonably safe to drive it back and point out to them several of the more blatant and disturbing things I had found, I was told that the mechanic that had done the work had been fired soon afterward due to numerous complaints and they asked me to give the shop another chance to make it right. However, the shop owner then tried to make excuses for and downplay the negligence and shoddy nature of the work - for some of the issues Id already addressed even trying to suggest that the damage caused was just my opinion. Even after supposedly firing the mechanic for shoddy work and the numerous other undeniable screw ups I pointed out to him, I still had to assure him there was in fact unmistakable, clearly visible, physical damage in order for him to accept that it actually might have happened. There is no make it right when you charge somebody that kind of money and do that much damage to their vehicle. There is no make it right when you then allow it to leave your shop in that condition while telling them it is in good shape. And there is especially no make it right when you then try to make excuses instead of completely just owning up to the fact that your shop blatantly caused damage like that to somebodys vehicle and there is absolutely no excuse for it.From the number of times the owner mentioned his reputation while making excuses, very unprofessionally badmouthing both the mechanic and his wife in an apparent attempt to deflect some of the blame from the shop itself, and trying to convince me to let them have their way with my vehicle again, I got the clear impression that was his main concern; Not surprise and disgust and shame at how badly they had screwed up my vehicle while charging me multiple thousands of dollars for it, but instead worry about his reputation. As a parting gift the owner offered to track down a part I needed, but Ive never heard back from them about it so I can only assume they probably dont actually care enough to bother with that either.Im now out well over $4,000 with a vehicle in overall worse shape than before I took it to this shop and will have to redo every bit of work I paid them for, plus extra repairs and replacement of additional parts that went in the shop fine and came out damaged. At least they were nice, though. Demeanor is the one thing I cant complain about.

I CAN HONESTLY SAY I THOUGHT THESE PEOPLE WERE THE BEST. I HAVE REFERRED A FEW PEOPLE TO THEM AND ONE OF THEM HAD A PROBLEM AND THEY REFUSE TO HELP.....THEY WENT TO VALVOLINE AND HAD AN OIL CHANGE AND IT WAS LEAKING OIL AND CAR DIED A FEW MONTHS LATER.. I TOLD THEM TO TAKE IT TO ANN ARBOR TRANSMISSIONS. THEY SAID THAT VALVOLINE FORGOT TO PUT THE O RING BACK ON AND IT CAUSED OIL TO LEAD ON THE SERPENTINE BELT AND IT SLID OFF CAUSING THE CAR TO DIE... WELL FOR A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS THEY FIXED IT...YAHOO....WELL NOT THE CASE A FEW MONTHS GO BY AND CAR DIES... TOOK IT BACK TO THE GREAT ANN ARBOR TRANSMISSIONS AND THEY SAID IT WOULD BE ANOTHER $325.00 BECAUSE THE OIL CAP WAS CRACKED AND IT WAS LEAKING OIL AND THE SERPENTINE BELT FELL OFF AND THERE WERE NO O RING ON IT................THEY SHOULD OF NOTICED THIS WHEN THEY FIXED IT A FEW MONTHS AGO..... I AM WITH MY FRIEND THIS IS TOTALLY UNFAIR FOR THEM TO CHARGE ANOTHER $325.... WHEN IT IS TOTALLY THERE FAULT... THEY SAY IT IS NOT BUT IT IS. THEY SHOULD OF NOTICED THERE WERE NO O RINGS AND THAT THE CAP WAS CRACKED... MY FAITH IN THEM HAS GONE DOWN THE DRAIN THEY ARE NO AS FAIR AS I THOUGHT THEY WOULD BE......
