One of the friendliest and most competent auto repair companies I have done business with. I have a 20-year old four-wheel drive pickup. Parts can be hard to find and rust from Michigan winters makes it difficult to work on. Some shops wont even take it in. They gave me a fair price for replacing a transfer case linkage, found the parts and did the repair in short order. And they were pleasant and cheerful about it. Id recommend them without hesitation for any of their listed services.

Keith and the rest of the team have been good to my cars and my family. They are very professional and they will do a good job on your car or truck. They installed a new transmission on my 2007 explorer. It had a warranty of a hundred thousand miles or three years whichever comes first. I was able to get 4 years and 170000 mi on that new transmission. I have no complaints.

Well I must I had never had a bad experience until now! I took my vehicle in to be fixed after them trying to add one item for $500+ I clearly didnt ask for, and needed something much more important got that installed instead. Okay, wonderful Im happy, I thought until I get my baby home half of my lights no longer work and my remote start has been removed. You Heard Me, My Remote Start Has Been Removed someones gonna here from me on Monday!!!!!!

I love AAMCO Transmission because theres a guy by the name of Mark Baker, he is the most fear mechanic Ive ever known. If you have a serious problem and no one else can figure it out. I take two stars away because although I understand they are a transmission shop and they dont do alignments I cant imagine anyone would expect to get their car back from being repaired with a new problem to fix, which the mechanic admitted was a known problem caused by their work process as he explained why I now have to go get an alignment. I take one star away because this is why ppl hate dealing with auto shops. After paying $1,700 I at least expect my car to drive straight, the same way I brought it to you. ***Update*** Ive removed a star because after responding to the owners request for another chance Ive yet to get a follow up. Awesome job guys.

I brought in an old vehicle in to fix a coolant leak. The staff were straightforward and honest. The coolant leak would have cost >$1200 and the staff told me that while they couldve taken my money and fixed the problem, at that point I should probably look into a new vehicle. You dont find a mechanic every day thats willing to give you sound advice at their own expense. Would recommend.

Hands down, the best mechanics in all of the Ann Arbor-Ypsi area! Had a transmission leak and it was promptly fixed (1 day), even though they were a couple guys short-handed. I also really appreciated them updating me throughout the process and explaining everything. Im not a car guy and for someone to explain to me the function of each part and the condition it was currently in was extremely helpful. This shop is run by very honest and trustworthy professionals, who truly care about the customer. I would totally recommend this AAMCO shop to anyone! Keith and the guys are great. As a woman I often worry about getting taken advantage of when it comes to auto care, but I have never had to worry here! I bring my car here at least once a month for small questions and they are always happy to take a moment to inspect what they can and give me an idea of what’s wrong with my car (which honestly is a long list since I drive a 2001). I always call my stepdad to confirm prices before moving forward and he always tells me that Aamco’s prices are cheaper than he expected. The only downfall is that auto care in general is expensive and they don’t do alignments, but honestly I don’t care. They have provided me with brakes/rotors, a c-clip for a broken wiper blade, running board removal, a new radiator, an engine fan, and among other services have also given me recommendations of other shops to go to for tire and alignment needs. They have told me when something isn’t worth fixing, or isn’t in need of fixing, and they repair what they can instead of just putting in new parts like most shops. At this point they all know who I am and Keith remembers conversations we have while I wait for work to be completed. They are also quick and efficient, but tend to be pretty busy. I came here after a colleague at EMU suggested them and I’m glad I did. I don’t know what I’m going to do when I have to move to Kalamazoo!

For a total auto care shop, I am appalled by the way they handle business. Had my car for 2 days, to tell me they couldnt figure out my power steering pump is going out. Drove the car to work today, steering is intermittently stiff, and now my tires wobble when I apply my brakes. My wheels were fine before taking it in to these guys. Thank you for making my problem even more difficult. If I could give negative stars, I would. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!

I highly recommend The AAMCO of Ypsilanti.Earlier today I went to change the battery in my wifes car at one of those chain auto parts stores that claims to have service and the ability to help. They were able to sell the battery and the terminal post I needed, but as for support or help (which I had asked about on the phone) it wasnt to be had. When the it turned out that positive terminal post broke and I could not remove it from the cables, they had only shrugs to comfort me. I was successful in jerry-rigging a connection that allowed me to get the car to AAMCO, which was the closest repair shop. Thank God it was! Keith took a look and told me he would have someone smarter and more knowledgeable take a look at the cable before even trying to quote. Enter Mark, who informed us it could be no problem or, if unlucky, he;d have to remove the line at the wire base. Keith told the earliest they would be able to get to it would be tomorrow morning. Sighing to myself, i called my wife for ride a home. While I waited a third gentleman (possibly the owner), whose name I never caught, took time to talk with me and make sure I was comfortable and reassure me that they would take care of our electrical issue (we also joked about a really cool baseball play I had just witnessed via my phone). Within a half hour she picked me up and as soon as we walked in the door my phone rang. It was Keith, Mark had been able to get to my car as soon as I left and it was ready to go!Mark, YOU ROCK! Thank you again so much for taking care of so quickly and thanks to the entire team for making us feel as if our problem was important.Total cost: $60.00Needless to say I have found a local shop that I will use again whenever our vehicles need service.

Broke a half shaft on my 2006 Honda Element and they had it fixed the same day. The price was about what I would have expected. One of the owners/managers said to me we are a bunch of old guys here and that is exactly who I want working on my car (for the record they arent that old)...Five stars.

I do not usually write reviews, but had to for this place, as I cannot explain how amazing they have been! As soon as we found Keith and Aamco on Ellsworth in Ypsilanti a few years ago, we go to him with everything our cars need. He has been nothing but extremely kind and straightforward and honest with us, and they do whatever they can to get your car done fast, no matter what the repair. Just about every time, they have been done with our cars well before they estimated. They are extremely hard workers, and it is such a relief to know we can 100% trust them to fix things right the first time, and only what needs to be fixed. They never recommend anything we dont need, even when we think a repair is needed, they will tell us straight what is and isnt necessary. They are not just in it to make money, but to take very good care of you and your safety and comfort. We will not go anywhere else!

Third time Ive brought my van back. But it was done in Tennessee. So its pains taking since they are not connected togather so they have to call Tenn branch and the tenn branch has to ok or provide a trans. But the people here very nice.

However, if you need ANY KIND OF REPAIR WORK done.... THIS is the PLACE TO BE! I would like to commend KEITH WOODBURN, the manager of this facility for being a demonstration of INTEGRITY and a STAND FOR THE WORK they do!I purchased a used vehicle this year in June and 5 months later found out I needed a new transmission and other work done.One can understand how painful it is to find out a recent car purchase has major problems which were not disclosed. Keith communicated the issues in a clear and concise understandable manner as well as the Warranty that comes with their work.Two weeks after the work was completed my vehicle started having the same problems. Keith listened to my frustrations with care & compassion, assured me of their commitment to the warranty on the work they do and got my vehicle back in immediately. They found out my vehicle had additional wiring issues that was causing the malfunction. It took days to complete the trouble shooting to get to the source of the problem. Once they fixed one issue, did a test drive and then something else came up. He was in constant communication of what was going on. They refused to give me my car back without complete work done. Since I had no way to get around, they rented a vehicle for 5 days for me to use while they continued to work on my car.I got my car back today and I can tell you, the moment I drove off the lot I could feel the difference! It was clear to me that a satisfied customer is the main goal of this company and they have a whatever it takes approach attitude to make that happen! Oh yeah, and the most beautiful part of this experience....their warranty is a REAL WARRANTY..... I didnt have to pay another penny for any of the work they did to ensure my vehicle was properly serviced and safe to drive. I give 10 STARS to AAMCO TRANSMISSION & TOTAL CAR CARE IN YPSILANTI.... Summary: You wont find better mechanics or more ethical businessmen anywhere.Shortly after moving to Livonia, my Volvo developed a serious transmission problem. Few things demand more of ones attention than finding a good mechanic to solve large issues when one is new to an area. After many inquiries, Aamco of Ypsilanti was recommended to me, and recommended highly. Since Ypsilanti is not close to Livonia, my initial skepticism nearly kept me from going, but I finally decided to take a chance. Having them work on the Volvo turned out to be the best decision I could have made for this problematic car. Aamco fixed it perfectly, and they did it for a fair price. Though I lived in Livonia, from that time on Ive patronized no other auto repair shops. Their expertise is more than worth the trip. (Eventually I moved to Ann Arbor, which is much closer, but even if I hadnt I would still make the trip there to have them do the work.) Ive found Aamco to be scrupulously honest and forthright not only in their in their diagnostics, but also in their customer relations. They are always amicable, even when delivering news one may not want to hear about an automobile. Their work is meticulous; there has been only a single occasion when a repair didnt hold, and upon being notified of it they corrected the problem immediately. Some have written about unsatisfactory experiences with Aamco, but I can attest that this shop has absolutely no issues with addressing legitimate concerns regarding customer service. The bottom line is that if you patronize Aamco Ypsilanti, youre not going to have a problem; you are going to have your car fixed, and fixed right. My experiences with them are typical, and I recommend them without reservation; Aamco of Ypsilanti can be patronized with confidence.
